Mr. Beans whipping up some coffee
Rachel C.

Key News & Coffee has changed names to Mr. Beans Books and Beans, named lovingly after their "owner" Mr. Beans who is the cutest little black and white cat. Alongside Muffin and their very nice owners, we had one amazing cup of coffee with the most delicious guava cheese Danish. The bookshop was so cute and the cafe was wonderful!

Books, coffee, and cats. If there's more to a coffeehouse, I don't know what it is. The coffee was great. The book selection isn't massive but they have some good stuff if you peruse long enough. There were two cats during our visit although we only saw one of them. And that cat was very friendly. This is my kind of coffeehouse.

New name is Mr beans Books and Beans and they have two kitties walking around, muffin and Mr. Beans. They are so sweet and friendly and so is the staff! Coffee and smoothies were good, good selection of popular books and some local information on the keys. Super cute spot!

This shop is under a new name, don't know the back story, however, Mr. Beans books and Beans is perfect. I would have been there every morning during my stay in Marathon if I had the opportunity. It offers such a local vibe, not to mention the best (traditional) macchiato. I bought several books while I was there, they had a good selection of new ones and what appeared to be second hand books as well. I'm kind of upset I didn't see any cat beans in my 10 min pop in though!

Inside. Everything bagel and iced latte.

The new name is Mr. Beans Coffee! Stopped in for some breakfast and a book to read. Very cute shop, very nice owner and cats. The vibe of this place is very welcoming and calming. Happy to support this business and will be back!

Trying to steal some of my coffee...

Oh my goodness, this for sure was one of my favorite stops in my entire trip through the Keys! If you like books, coffee, and kitties, and you're in the area, well then what are you waiting for, go here!!! But really. This is a coffee shop that has good* coffee, and they have used books literally on shelves on every wall where there's space. And you can buy some for super cheap, at most a couple bucks per book, it's just wonderful. They also house two resident kitties there, who were adopted by the owners and just come to hang out everyday and greet customers while mom and dad work, it's literally the sweetest. Mr. Beans, the black and white one is especially friendly and just loves to be held and cuddle and hang out. He was just adorable and I absolutely loved him. Not to mention, the owners were so friendly too and great to talk to, they are just locals enjoying their small business and so personable. This is just a really cool, homey shop and it will forever be a required stop for me any time I return to the keys. All love, Mr. Beans.

Stopped in for a latte. Very nice people in here. Latte was good. Asked me how many shots, hot or cold, and type of milk before making the drink. I met Gypsy Rose, the four legged guest of one of the customers. Coffee and a few puppy snuggles is a great way to start the day. Easy parking in front. Good coffee. Friendly people.

Muffin

Loved visiting Mr. Beans Books & Beans! We were honored to catch a few glimpses of the owner (Mr. Beans) and visit with his other feline companion, Muffin. My oatmilk "natte" (no caffeine and no dairy latte) was delicious as was my cappuccino the next day (we had to go back!). Would also highly recommend the Gourmet Cream Cheese Danish. I wish we lived closer so we could go back again and again. I'd highly recommend swinging by if you're in the area!

Older lady behind the counter was incredibly rude. Will not return because of her. Also because of American cheese. Gross.

So they have sunscreen?

No, we don't carry sunscreen. However, Formula Freediving next door has reef-safe sunscreen available, and Angler's Closet two doors down also carries several brands. If I put Coconut flavoring in your coffee drink it'll SMELL like sunscreen, but…

I asked the barista if I could have one with just cold milk...tell me why they took this as cold foam and instead of asking for clarification she got overwhelmed and asked her two other co workers, who said " idk what it is but I know it's alot of sugar" ummm no girl. The barista then said to me "Yea idk, I know it's a thing but I'm not sure how to do that. So you basically just told me that you are not capable of just making as you usually do, and just putting 'cold milk' instead of scolding hot milk in it, like it was a weird sort of science or had to be a trendy "cold foam" bs. I told her respectfully I did not want any coffee at all, and I was hesitant to purchase anything else I had selected. My husband did want that coffee so he ordered an "iced latte" and when he tasted it, it was just cold brewed american coffee in some watered down creamer liquid. The store is cute or whatever if you like really overpriced Knick knacks.

They had just moved In Limbo from its original place of the true Hippieland, Woodstock, New York to here Marathon, Florida. And it was in Woodstock that I had been previously. Oddly everything about the place appears the same. So, if you're a present-day hippie or a leftover like me, this is the place to shop. Not only is everything whimsically hippie type unique but authentic to its period. The place is just packed to its rafters with tie-dye and 70's period clothing. Really, everything I can remember from the hippie era and then some. Best of all, for such period articles and clothing; all at reasonable prices with that all so pleasant hippie-like owner assistance. As the best hippie of hippie shops around, five Yelp stars.

They have a lot of stock -- not just the tees, but band tees, touristy stuff galore, flowing dresses and skirts -- all sorts of tie died and hippy style clothes (from my youth). In addition, in the very back is a caged area with a few small alligators --for the kids (and tourists) to marvel at. They do have a few tee shirts at a bargain price, but most things you will want to buy are about $25 and up. There were a few band shirts that would have been good Christmas gifts... but not at the prices listed. In any case, for those of us at a certain age, it's a nostalgia trip to smell the incense and walk through an homage to those head shops that used to dot every corner...
