We had some time to kill so decided to stop at the MM50 store on the way back to Miami. "Why pay Key West Prices?" says the bajillion signs for the Sandal Factory outlet. Why? Probably because they would have been CHEAPER. My sandals bit the dust the day before my Key West trip, so we popped in to find a replacement pair. I mean, c'mon! I can't go to the beach in sneakers! Anywho -- flip flops for $25+ here, most of the sandal offerings being well over $60, 70, 80. I did find a cute paid of wedged Teva flip flips for $27. So I bought them. Service was non existent, and the man checking me out didn't say a single word throughout the whole transaction. Wore my shoes for all of a couple of hours and then they cut into my feet and I had to march around with band-aids for the rest of my trip. Oy. read more

If you are in the Keys and need a t-shirt, flip-flops, bathing suit, board shorts, or any miscellaneous beachwear like that the Sandal Factory is your go-to store. They have it all from $5 cheapies to hundreds of dollars fancy footwear and you can get in and out of there in no time at all if you know what you want. In fact, many times Sir Nicholas won't buy flip-flops for himself until we go home on vacation because the selection here is so much better than anywhere in Colorado. We flew in from San Francisco to attend our daughter's pinning ceremony at the University of Miami medical school. She wanted to visit Key West, Florida so we started on our long drive from Miami. Along the way, we passed a Sandal Outlet, so she wanted to stop at the next one to look at Birkenstock sandals. We saw the sign several miles before announcing a Sandal Factory outlet in Marathon, FL. As we made our left turn into the parking lot, we noticed that a sign indicated that it sold Birkenstock sandals. In fact inside the store, they also had a prominent sign advertising Birkenstocks. After searching, we couldn't find any and asked a man behind the cash register about Birkenstocks. He said that they don't have any and that it is carried in their other stores. I pointed out the prominent Birkenstock sign in the store, but he just ignored the comment. We felt that this store was similar to a bait and switch operation, but maybe the locals already know that. The store was relatively clean and had a fair share of tourists as it was a Saturday afternoon. There was a single restroom, which had a sign that the toilet is easily clogged. Certainly a positive was a plunger for those inclined to unclog it. read more

I can't speak to the customer service issues others have had since I didn't end up buying anything while I was here. As far the the pricing for sandals is concerned though, I think some people might be balking at the prices because they're just high priced shoes. During my search for a pair of sandals, I scanned a couple of bar codes to compare the prices to the same shoes available on Amazon, and generally the prices in the store were only about $5 more. That seems to be reasonably within the instant gratification threshold. The store has a lot of options for shoes and assorted tourist crap. I'd probably skip the shirts though, the cheap ones are just that. read more

Great variety of merchandise however there is a young woman, dirty blonde hair, petite, not sure her name (receipt said"klimpl" as cashier) but a tremendous vibe killer. Has the face as if she just smelled a fart, or drank spoiled milk. Her customer service is that of a self serve gas pump. Worst Sandal Outlet ever! The woman Lisa was soooo rude. We asked her a question, she wouldn't even turn around to look at what we were asking her about. She immediately gave a nasty remark without taking into account what we were asking. We wanted the last hat/shirt combo that was on display. She then proceeding to give the whole mannequin with the shirt and hat on. We then had to proceed carrying this mannequin until we were ready to check out. Then Lisa opened another register and we were right in front of her and she would not ring us up! Then long story short we get to the front of the other register and the girl ringing us up is so confused as to why Lisa gave us the mannequin rather than just taking the shirt and hat off. Funny considering I was walking around with a mannequin for fifteen minutes but awful customer service. read more

Yep. Ditto to all other reviews. I had to ask about the location of the 4 for $10 shirts that were advertised on at least four huge billboards along the highway. They were in the very back of the store on ONE circular rack. Many had flaws, marks, etc. I found some that were decent, but not sure how they'll hold up after a wash. We weren't expecting top quality shirts, but for all of the advertising would have liked more of a selection. Also, only child sizes are 4 for $10. Adult sizes are 4 for $11. I will say that the lady that helped me was very pleasant and the only reason this is a two star review instead of one star. read more

Sandal Factory has better product than most of the gift shops I saw. However, almost every pair of pants, shoes, or shirts cast $50 plus. The exception is one 3 for $10 T-shirt rack in the back. There isn't a lot of places for shopping in Marathon, so this is probably one of the best places to go. They have a large selection of shoes. I was impressed by all of the really nice sandals for women. They also have clothes, swim suits, sunglasses, jewelry, and souvenirs. It's a little pricier than I would like. Most of the shoes you could probably find cheaper elsewhere if you weren't in the keys. I probably wouldn't buy sandals here for that reason, but I would consider buying some of their cute accessories. Overall, I think they have a lot of nice things, it's worth it to at least stop by and have a look around. read more

We have been here on 2 trips. The owner was there on both our trips, and was very friendly. Yes, the sandals are not cheap, but what good quality footwear is? If you want cheap, go to Kmart. The sandals I purchased have lasted 3years from our first trip. I bought more on this trip. The store is full of sandals, so take your time and pick out a great pair!
