Irie is adjacent to a wonderful produce stand and directly behind an awesome barber shop. Irie has games for the kids and the best of Jamaica stateside. This hidden gem is reminiscent of my favorite place called Scotchies which is actually in Jamaica. The only things missing from the menu is curry goat and oxtail but the flavors certainly do not miss a beat. Cute little place, tucked away in the heart of Marathon Key. The selection they offer is a variety of bbq and seafood, wraps, tacos or bowls. They have daily specials. Tried their Irie bowl with seared tuna. Tuna was cooked perfectly. The cilantro noodles were nice, but I think they would've been better warm. Back again this year for a spring break relaxing week in Marathon. I love the fresh catch of the day at the fish market restaurants but I have to get my spicy tangy food fix - Jamaican barbecue! From the street I'm thinking it's a big tiki bar restaurant with a fruit stand and when you walk through the entrance you literally feel like you are a tropical island beach somewhere. Lots of tropical flowers and palm trees and little lizards and a cat. Food is served from a food truck. You can build your own bowls , tacos or wraps. Delicious veggies- pickled onion, carrots, bean salad lots to choose from and a list of bbq chicken beef or pork, poke - take a look at the menu. Super clean and fresh spices. I ordered the lunch special- mango bbq ribs on a bed of coconut rice , pickled onion and bonus potato sticks. Open only for lunch - I can see hanging out afterwards on the couch and chilling to some old school reggae. Love it! read more

We used Irie Island Eats to cater my daughter's beach wedding reception (125 people), as this is our absolute favorite restaurant in the area. We ordered pineapple mojo chicken, tuna poke, jerk shrimp skewers, coconut rice, key lime cilantro slaw and tropical mixed greens. The catering team is great to work with, response time was great, and food was ready on time. They were also so great with communicating about ingredients, so we could accommodate dietary restrictions with ease. So many guests at the wedding remarked about how much they enjoyed the food and said, "thanks for not serving us the traditional rubbery, chicken." Irie food is all fresh and made to order with quality ingredients. We found the suggested serving sizes for full- and half-pans to be very accurate for our crowd. Heads up: Irie does not deliver, set up food, or offer sterno or serving pieces. Don't let this deter you - with a little extra planning you can make this work for a large event. A real find -- if you can find it. Across the Overseas Highway from The Home Depot in Marathon is what looks like a tiki bar, but it's actually a produce stand. Behind the produce stand is Irie Island Eats, and it's worth the effort to find. A funky, food-truck-type place in a little garden, with plastic furniture and chickens scratching at your feet. The menu is unusual and a bit complex, but the poke and smoked meats (especially ribs) are excellent and the portions more than generous. My wife pronounced the "So-Flo" salad with tuna "to die for", as was the sweet & spicy tuna with avocado. We enjoyed lunch so much that we returned before they closed at 4:00 and ordered take-out for dinner! In a town where virtually every restaurant menu looks the same, this place is unique, and reasonably priced, for the Keys. Open 11-4, closed Sundays. read more

We were in Marathon for a week and ended up picking up from here twice for lunch. The environment at the restaurant is great, lots of out door causal seating. They have some great sauces for the tacos. We had one vegetarian in the group who particularly loved this place as they had lots of good options for them. One time I got the chicken quesadilla which generally are good, what I was so impressed with their quesadilla is the amount of flavor they got into this simple item. We all loved it. Nestled behind a local farmers market, Irie is an outdoor paradise oasis with plenty of natural shaded seating areas and fun areas with giant jenga and connect four. Best, the Caribbean inspired menu is fun, fresh, creative, and DELICIOUS!!! The combination of smoked flavorful meats with fresh key lime cilantro slaws and tangy bean salads is perfect! When other Keys menus begin to blur with the same conch fritters, fried fish sandwiches and fish tacos... Irie pops off with a fried rice and Kalua pork wrap with Asian pickles or a wood grilled Island Burger on a pretzel bun with pineapple relish, curry mustard aioli, tomato and potato sticks. In light of owner's comments, I have updated my review. This place has a health food store vibe to it, if you like that kind of thing, I don't. It says BBQ on the outside, so I was expecting to get ribs, but found none on the menu. In a follow-up comment by the owner, I'm told that they have mango ribs. I recall having trouble reading the menu, which had small print and was pasted to the bottom of a board about waist high. I have a bad back, so bending down to read the menu was not an option. There was nothing online to confirm the menu items. The menu is extremely lmited. The closest thing I could find was pork casadias. I did not realize it at the time, but this was listed as an appetizer (menu reading problems). They would have been good if they were not overladed with salt. This is from a person who usually adds salt to most things. What came with the food was a tiny cup of salsa and 2 sauces, neither of which I liked, and a few shreds of lettice on the bottom. They seem to have put a lot more effort into their garden than their food. There are 2 grungy looking tables and some bar stools at counters. The tables were full. We had to move seats twice. Once because there was unstable ground under the stool. The second time because there was a speaker blaring music 2 feet from my head. read more

We live in a coastal town and we're big into poke bowls and this was one of the best (maybe even the best) we've ever tasted I'm a sauce girl and they have a variety of sauces to choose from, all delicious! After a weekend of so-so food in the keys I was craving something fresh, healthy and delicious--that is exactly what you will find at this outdoor food truck oasis! Walk through a little gate to find a beautiful lush garden filled with exotic plants, corn hole and string lighting with reggae music filling the air. At the end of the garden is the irie island eats food truck serving island style bbq and the most amazing tuna poke bowl I have ever had.
