Think of it as the Nordstrom of hot topics. It has a good selection of anything you can possibly consider "goth" stuff, but you can only do so much with vinyl or belts. People there are the ones that really got to me, kinda sad goths working there not really friendly, but thats like going to a funeral to cheer up. CLEAN UP YOUR STORE!!!!! Ever heard of visual merchandising? Yeah, you're looking more like a second hand Halloween costume shop. It's sooooooo tight and cramped...and every single piece of clothing - including the shoes - are on lock down. Maybe if you had all your merchandise neatly displayed in a larger store, you wouldn't have a problem with shoplifters. And geeze, throw away those home made Nag Champa votive candles -- no one will ever buy them because they're so old, they literally have cobwebs and dust on them. I don't like you store... I really don't. You make me hate everything Goth related and that is NOT good. read more

I was so stoked when I found an ad for Ipso Facto in O.C. weekly. I checked it out the same day. The employees are extremely nice, and their clothing selection is pretty amazing. So what that it's crowded, and things are placed high on the wall. They need room for all the awesome clothes!! I love that they carry special effects color. So convenient for me being that I work down the street. Prices may be up there, but considering the lines they carry, those prices would be twice as expensive on line going directly to the clothing line. I am so glad I found this lil gem in downtown Fullerton. Can't wait to go back and do some more shoppin! read more

The first time I set foot in this shop was back in '96 when I was in high school. And I still come here for most of my gothy things...as a matter of fact I introduced my cousin who just fell in love with this place. Was very glad to hear from a friend about a goth store nearby. They have a variety of great purses and accessories. The clothes they have are handled with care and are of great quality. They have some of the major goth brands like Killstar, etc. They also have everything you need in terms of witchy items. It's smells very very old in there. Everything is waaay over priced. The employees were quite rude and sarcastic when asking them something. And I'm assuming they have a lot of theft due to the fact that everything is behind sealed glass, chained to the wall, cameras everywhere, or the employees follow you around to see what you're doing. Another foray into the mortal world has yielded yet another section of Black Earth which does indeed prove to be quite a worthwhile excursion --- an "extension of My Lair", as it were. This ascension brought Me to Ipso Facto, a smallish store hidden betweem the fetters of normalcy. Anything & everything you could wish for seems to be available here. The most impressive section of the store was the jewelry case. Many different pentagram pendants & rings to choose from, including Levi's Sabbatic Goat, also goat skulls with Satanic Pentagrams engraved thereon, pewter Baphomets, varying inverted crosses & crucifixes, as well as the unusual assortment of eyeballs, spiders, bats, skulls, coffins, etc. Quite a nice collection of clothing too. All sorts of fetish wear, including a black vinyl skirt with a red inverted cross upon it {hotcha-cha!}, bondage gear {gauntlets, neckstraps, slave accouterments, bracelets, belts}, & many, many band shirts. There's even a special section for prints consisting solely of "Satan, Vampires"! A few Coop pieces, & even a Dore'. My acquaintance notified Me that there are shirts sold here which have long since been unavailable through many current establishments & companies. Want a piercing? There are all kinds to choose from. Posters, stickers {including a Baphomet}, rare & imported CD's, tapes, & videos. Incense, statuettes, spell candles. The little lady who serviced Me was polite, attentive, & effervescent, offering I sample the merchandise before purchasing. I can absolutely say, that the products sold here are reliable & pleasing. What really caught My eye, however, was the entire LaVey collection --- all five of the Doctor's works, plus HP Barton's "Secret Life of A Satanist." read more

Awesome place! I always get my incense from here. They have many options. It's awesome. The sage, rose, and dragons blood are just a few of my favorites. I also love to check out their sales bin that they have in the back. They always have really awesome stuff back there. It's great that this isn't a franchise store. There is only one, it has that awesome original feeling to it. It is mostly a goth oriented store. Even though I'm not really into that sorta style. I like to buy a couple pieces to mix in match with in my wardrobe. It gives it that edgy look. You most def have to check this place out. read more

Love the vibe of this store and the staff is helpful, but I wish they would carry more plus sized clothes. My friend is a size 12 and she couldn't fit into a 2XL dress. I'm much larger so I was totally SOL. It's a shame since I would spend a small fortune here if I could, and I know plenty of other larger goth women. The women's shoes also only go up to size nine... I still come here for the accessories, but I'm ready to spend big bucks on some big clothes! read more

A few days ago I found myself within the walls of this conspicuously gothy store. It's small and has a lot of clothes, which is obvious once you walk in because you can't even see the front counter from the door. This is because there is a clothing rack packed with an assortment of clothes ranging from goth to industrial in style. Beyond this you'll find a selection of CD's, patches, stickers, buttons, books, hair dye, magazines, flasks, videos, and other accessories. I asked the guy who was working there if he had any music recommendations and it ended up being he and I sitting there talking for 2 hours while he showed me a whole bunch of bands. I was impressed by this. He was very helpful and I ended up purchasing a CD by one of the bands he had let me listen to right there in the store. I will definitely return to this store for future purchases. Pros: Great customer service Exceptional clothing selection Carry some hard to find CD's Cons: A bit pricey The clothes and the lack of space make for very confined maneuvering Band T-shirt selection is limited to only a few bands - same goes with buttons and patches Overall, the selection and the helpfulness of the employee who assisted me warrants the 5-star rating I provided for this place. Wall to wall dark gear. Hard to get and rare cd's are hiding behind the counter. Speaking of the counter, gaze beyond the glass and you might find a few items (ie. candles, fun makeup, bindhi's...etc) that are worth pestering the employees for. Sale rack is in the back, at least it use to be. Kind of far to go but it's worth it for their huge inventory. Pasadena has nothing like this. read more

I love coming here. Its quite a drive for me, but well worth it. The clothes being locked up can be a little tough sometimes, especially if you just want to do a quick try-on. However, when you ask for help, everyone is as pleasant as can be. Krystal was of great help! Once I told her what my problem areas were when shopping for "this type" of clothing, she went into action, scoped out the inventory and picked pieces out that would be flattering to my curves. This is a great store with so many unique clothing ideas! Everyone is friendly and I always leave happy with my bag of goodies. I was so excited to find this place. I'm not a CA native and had never heard of Ipso Facto before, so when my husband and I walked by tonight I was so excited to spot it. It's a little pricey, but the clothes are good quality and worth it, especially if you want an outfit here and there rather than filling your entire wardrobe. Good selection of shoes and boots too. We got a few things and chatted with the owner for a while about nearby goth clubs and the socal EBM/industrial/goth music scene. If you're goth-minded in the LA/OC area then you know Ipso Facto. If you don't know it, then get your pale white butt out there ASAP! I used to go to the shop years and years ago before they had an in house piercer, then they got an in house piercer (yep, got it done), and now they don't seem to have one. In recent years I started checking out goth clubs again and realized I was all out of pale white makeup, oh my goth! I headed over to Ipso Facto to solve this problem and picked up some blood red lipstick for good measure. It doesn't matter that I've since realized no one dresses old school like that anymore. Ipso Facto still has an incredible clothing selection that makes the teenage goth in me cry. I remember once waitressing an entire summer just to get some pointy boots at Ipso Facto. read more

One of the best clothing shops in the alternative OC/LA scene. May seem pricey but is actually inexpensive for what you are purchasing. Owners really understand goth culture and the different 'types of goth'. Yes, it is all here at this store. I've gotten a lot of my clothes here, and they stay in shape for ages. So I went into ipso looking for a dress but found something so much better. I am a bigger girl and finding goth clothes in my size is a struggle. As soon as I walked through the door the saleswoman measured me and proceeded to hand measure every single dress that for my style. Unfortunately I was too big for most of them. Then we moved onto skirts for my corset. The saleswoman and salesman both jumped in and found me a beautiful skirt. Then the salesman proceeded to help me try on accessories and helped me find a beautiful choker. I love this store and the people are awesome. Totally worth the price. I will be back soon. read more

Id never been to a gothic store before so I had no idea what to expect. I came in to get a shirt for a special tribute gig that I have coming up. Upon entry I encountered James. Appropriately dressed in full goth attire, and I believe some makeup, he ended up being one of the most helpful people I've ever had an experience with. I admitted fully that I knew nothing about this type of clothing and needed his help and advice. He was sensitive to my situation and seemed genuinely interested in the gig I was purchasing for. I've shopped here a few times, and it is decent. The store is small and kind of cramped, but the times I have gone it was always clean and neat. The staff has been friendly one time, and rude the next, so I guess it depends on the day you go! ha. The ladies in there were super nice. I couldn't make up my mind on the jewelry I wanted but the girl was patient with me and didn't care that I wanted to see a ton of things out of the case. I left with inverted cross and Baphomet necklaces. One of which I unfortunately already lost because it was on a tiny rope with no clasp. I generally like this store. Not many gothic stores around anymore. My boyfriend and I have spent lots of money here often. They do carry many things that catch my eye. I just wish they would have clothes in larger sizes. There are lots of goth gurlz that are larger sizes. It would be something I would like to see more of soon.
