We asked was the gratuity included in the price already because the iPad was showing options for 3%/5% tip which seemed odd. When asked he tried to LIE TO US and say "well uh not really". Then we asked for an itemized list of our bill. There it showed clear as day that 15% was already included in the final bill and the 3% or 5% was additional on top. Came to IPOT for the first time and had a decent dinner, but there was definitely room for improvement. We came in on a Monday night so we were seated without any wait, though there were a decent amount of people in the restaurant. First the good - tofu and preserved egg broth, sauce bar, homemade shrimp paste, biang biang noodles, fresh veggies, and good online ordering system. While all the food was fresh and good quality, it was the service that was a bit lacking. We got one order of the brisket to start, and the amount they gave us was insanely large. There was so much meat that we weren't able to sample other types of meat because of the sheer quantity on the plate. I asked our waitress if that was one order and she said yes, but looking at other tables they got much more reasonable amounts of meat. I wouldn't have been so annoyed if the brisket was good, but it was far too lean to be good hotpot meat. Only when my mom asked the waiter for a single person order of their fatty beef did we get to try a different cut without incurring a $20 charge for wasting food. They also kept missing parts of our order every round, so we had to keep flagging them down to bring the rest of our order out. Even with these missteps, the waitress and waiters were friendly and quick to correct the mistakes. This one experience I would give a 3.5, but I can see the potential of this place. read more

Let me start off by saying that the restaurant is pretty big with 2 levels of sitting so the wait for a table even for a big group is never too bad. The pricing for dinner on a weekend per person is close to $40 but you do get both hot pot and Korean bbq at no extra charge compared to other places with a similar style restaurant. Service can be slow specially on weekends because there's an uneven ratio of tables and waiters but if are able to catch someone's attention they are able to help you right away. Meat quality can be a hit or miss but for the most part everything tastes fresh, the broths are anything to go crazy about so you have to rely more on the sauces which is fine because they have a section for you to help yourself. Their wide potato noodles are AMZING!!! A must try for sure. We were very full and satisfied with our meal and didn't encounter too many issues with service of items being forgotten. I wouldn't come all the time compared to other hot pot places in the city but if I'm craving some decent hot pot and I'm in the area I will definitely come here. Watch out for parking, it is very limited so you might spend a good chunk of time doing that. read more

This used to be one of my go-to hotpot spots, but after the recent change in ownership, it's completely gone downhill. The entire staff is new and poorly trained--we had to remind them multiple times for basic items, and even then, some never came while others we didn't order showed up instead. The updated ordering system is also frustrating--you can't see what you've already ordered, so it's hard to keep track, and you end up reordering just to get what you originally asked for. They removed the 15-item limit per round, but it doesn't matter if the food isn't coming out properly. The quality has noticeably dropped too. Our first plate of meat looked fresh, but subsequent ones were messy and inconsistent. The whole experience felt disorganized and frustrating. It's really disappointing to see such a great spot take this turn, and unless both the service and food improve significantly, I won't be coming back. read more

There's a 15 item limit for each order and a 15 minute wait time between each order. Staff are super kind and attentive. I highly recommend the Tom Yum soup base. Even though there's a pretty comprehensive sauce station (though I could not find sesame oil), you don't even need the sauces when your food is cooked with the flavourful Tom Yum soup! The dan dan noodles are also super chewy and yummy. They also offer a variety of cooked foods (dumplings, chicken wings, onion pancakes, etc.). This was my first time experiencing AYCE hot pot and/or kbbq in the city -- a decent spot to visit for both options. Came here as a party of 4 on a sunday evening and it was busy, but they had a few open tables so we didn't have to wait long. The restaurant is quite large with booths and tables. Some of the tables had separate hot pots and others had the chafing pot so you could either share a large hot pot or enjoy your own individual pots. We opted for both hot pot and kbbq and got to order everything on a QR code and there's a sauce bar to help yourself. They have a pretty diverse selection of options on their menu for both, plus dim sum too. I really liked the szechuan soup base (just the right amount of mala spice) and each plate had large portion sizes. The beef was my favorite and we got to have plenty of vegetables with our meal too. Also really like the fried bun w condensed milk, which was fluffy and crispy. We ended our meal with strawberry / green tea ice cream. My main comment would be the service: it seems like the restaurant is pretty understaffed. there was no party ahead of us and they had open seats, yet we had to wait at least 10-15 minutes before anyone came up to us in the front and helped us get seated. Half of our party waited over 20 minutes to get our soup bases: we told one of the waitresses about the 2 soup bases we were waiting on and she said she would check on them, but never came back. We had to go find another employee until he was able to get our soup bases right away, and he became our primary server for the rest of the night. We also didn't receive a lot of our orders even after submitting the requests online and had to reorder. But the upside to this was that our server came up to us towards the end and voluntarily gave us a 35% discount for our whole meal apologizing for the service which was a substantial amount that caught all of us off guard, especially since none of us said anything except when we asked them about the soup bases. they were very busy though, so I wouldn't fault them for the errors and would be willing to come back. tldr: good option for AYCE hot pot and kbbq but be prepared for longer service. read more

Ordering through the phone was fast and convenient, but it's important to note that you can only order 15 items at a time every 15 minutes. The dishes arrived quickly, and the servers were all very attentive. I particularly enjoyed the sauce station, which allowed us to create unlimited sauces tailored to our preferred flavor profiles. Of all the Hot Pot places I've been to not just in SF but also LA, that broth was definitely one of the most memorable. Highly recommend if you're not looking for anything spicy or sour. We tried any and all meats, and all of them were very lean and nicely marbled, and once cooked very juicy and tender. They also have an excellent variety of appetizers, seafoods, sides, and sauces to choose from as well, which only further complemented the experience. Standing in the waiting area, it was immediately obvious that the area had not been dusted, wiped, vacuumed in any way since forever. It's worrying because the manager who oversees cleaning the outside of the restaurant is usually the same person who oversees cleaning the kitchen. My fears were confirmed when the waiter bringing four plates of meat stacked the dishes on top of each other for convenience, so the top dishes were sitting on the meat. Sure the boiling soup will sterilize everything, but the dirt remains. Food was unexceptional. The two broths we chose, one spicy one not, were indistinguishable. High salt levels characterized both. The sauces and slurrys made available to our diners were generally the cheapest brands available. The "hand pulled noodles" is 4 pieces! Service was nearly non-existent. The only interaction we had was when they wanted to check my driver license for the senior discount. There are many, many good hot pot restaurants in San Francisco. You can do better. read more

One of my favorite AYCE hot pot places in SF. This place is always lively and bustling when I go and occasionally they have a robot server walking around. If you come during dinner on a Friday/Sat prepare for a rather long wait. My favorite aspect is that there is both hot pot and bbq for one price so you won't need to worry about choose which option. When you are seated, they usually ask you if you want split pot or own pot, which is a nice option to have for different preferred eating styles. They also have a variety of broths to choose from so there will be a flavor you'd enjoy. The portion sizes each time are pretty good and they have a 15 min timeline before you can reorder more food.
