TL;DR: they recovered my busted data, and prices and timeline may increase substantially beyond initial estimates as they did in my case. iPadRehab is a very skilled, VERY in-demand repair and data recovery shop near the Great Lakes Region in NY. They eventually recovered cherished data from my busted-in-a-bike-crash iPhone, and I'm grateful for that. I'm writing this review to offer the perspective of a customer who opted for the "regular" recovery service, without paying the $100 non-refundable "rush" recovery fee. If you're considering iPadRehab, be aware that data recovery in 2024 is a complicated process drawn-out process, that your repair may be stalled for weeks (for example if iPadRehab needs to order replacement chips on their end for your phone), and that prices and timeline may increase substantially beyond initial estimates as they did in my case. My initial quote from iPadRehab for $800 plus tax said: -"We will get started on your device within 4-6 weeks, or for our rush customers--within 1-2 days." -"This estimate is assuming that there is no prior microsoldering attempt made to recover this board," which was true. There was no other mention of assumptions that could change the estimate. -And to their credit, this honest bit: "Between intake and invoicing we do not update unless there is an issue." I opted to forgo the rush service, since I honestly didn't expect my phone to be recoverable, and would have been out the $100 non-refundable "rush" fee in that case. 4-6 weeks seemed fine to me. I didn't even send in my device for a few weeks as I was considering whether I wanted to pay nearly $900 for this, but when iPadRehab reached out a few weeks later and offered to send me packaging to ship it, I said alright and shipped in my device. 4 weeks came without a word from iPadRehab, then 6 weeks, then 8 weeks. After 10 weeks, I had still heard nothing, so I followed up and they responded quickly with essentially "This process takes time, sorry we can't give you a timeline estimate." But later that very week, I finally received a message that my phone was a more complicated repair and the cost would increase to $1000 if they were able to restore it. I'm not sure whether this was a case of "squeaky wheel getting the grease" or not, but I think I had misunderstood and taken "we will start on your device within 4-6 weeks" to mean that I would hear from them by at least 6-8 weeks later. I was also surprised by the increase in price, since the original estimate for $800 (which felt like a lot of money but apparently there are ppl on the internet charging much more for worse data recovery?!) didn't say that prices could go up more depending on what they found in their work. To iPadRehab's credit, they left this choice up to me and I think they would have returned my phone as non-recoverable had I not agreed to the higher fee. Once I agreed to the new higher fee, my phone went to to the back of a new "queue" and I finally heard back 4 weeks later that they were able to restore the data. That time, they contacted me without my reaching out first. The whole process on iPadRehab's end lasted about ~14 weeks. iPadRehab was the best business I could find for this repair after I started looking, and even though I didn't realize how very very busy they were (read: that this process would take months, not weeks) when I started, I'm grateful that they recovered my data. If I did it again, would I do the rush service? Now knowing that iPadRehab was able to restore my busted data, I personally would trust them more and probably use the rush service. I imagine one reason it took so long for me was that a lot of folks willing to pay $800+ for data recovery don't bat an eye at an extra $100 for rush service. I would tell my friends to use them. But mostly, I would tell my friends to back up their data! read more

If you need stuff retrieved from a device, there is no one better than iPad Rehab. You may have to be very patient, but they are worth it. Case in point: It took them 4 years to get into my husband's rusted, busted iPhone 5, but they did. They basically kept his phone until technology caught up to the phone's security threshold and they were finally able to get into it. Several times over those years I assumed they'd given up, but they tried every new kind of tech that came their way until they finally got to one that worked. Prior to hiring them, I'd tried a few other places like Apple and uBreakiFix, and none of them would even try to get into his phone, it was so busted. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

*ESSAY ALERT** I was recently in Puerto Rico and I had an accident on a JetSki. Thankfully, my friend and I are okay but I mistakenly grabbed my iPhone SE (2nd Gen) instead of my iPhone 13 which was in the waterproof case. My phone was water-damaged, but of course, the most important thing was to make it home alive so I didn't even worry about the phone until I was heading back to my hotel. I was very concerned about the images that I had from previous trips and my time in PR on the phone. once I was back in NY I went to the Apple Store and then contacted two local iPhone repair shops in Queens. Since none of the previous places were able to assure me that my data could be recovered, I decided to do some research on YouTube and I found an interview with Jessa Jones (founder of iPad Rehab.) During the interview, Jessa talked about a cell phone that was also damaged by salty water and she was able to recover the data. She sounded very professional, knowledgeable, and honest. And right away, I knew that I had to contact them and that there was hope for me to recover my data. I gave them a call and spoke to Sunday, she was very friendly and very knowledgeable, and she told me that there was a 90% chance of my data being recovered. Also that if the data was not recovered, I wouldn't have to pay for the service so, of course, I decided to try them. A few days later I flew from New York City to Rochester and I was greeted by a friendly clerk. I explained the situation once again, and he assured me that my phone was in good hands. I took some pictures of the space as he told me that they had clients from different parts of the world, he even allowed me to take a picture of the space where the magic happens. The clerk told me that normally the data recovering process takes a few weeks, but that because I dropped off my cell phone in the office, they would treat it as a local, and that it would be ready in a few days. That turned out to be a mistake because when I called to follow up about a week later, someone else told me that it would take at least 2 weeks for the data to be recovered. Then I followed up via email on week 3 and I was told that the phone was still not ready and that it normally takes them about 4 weeks. They got back to me exactly a month after I dropped off my phone and informed me that they successfully recovered my data. I am giving them 5 stars despite the error of the clerk because I am beyond happy and grateful that all of my data was recovered. Unfortunately, the phone was permanently damaged and I did not get it back because I allowed them to get rid of it. I wasn't able to fly back to pick up the data so I chose to have them deliver it to me for a cost of $10 and I received it in 48 hours. I received my data in a Samsung 64 GB USB, which was given to me for free because I only had a few gigabytes worth of data on the phone. Please note that they do charge for the USB when there is a large amount of data on the damaged device. I have no regrets. Trusting iPad Rehab with my device was the best decision! I definitely recommend this place to anyone that would like to retrieve data from a water-damaged device. read more

Thank you to ipad rehab who recovered my data despite the leading data recovery service (Ontrack) telling me WITH CONFIDENCE that my data was unrecoverable. Out of desperation I sent it to iPad Rehab and BOOM they recovered it. Best of all they live streamed my recovery on YT and I was able to see WITH CONFIDENCE how they were able to recover my data AND fix my phone. Nowadays I find myself even watching their live streams of other recoveries because it's pretty intriguing / entertaining. Cons: Their customer service is alright. This is everything from their online portal, ability to get ahold of them by phone, and overall communication. Ontrack had way better customer service however Ontrack couldn't get the job done and at the end of the day that's what's most important. read more

I had an iPhone that screen stopped working on. I sent it to ipadrehab, and they were able to repair it. I replaced the phone in the meantime, so I only used it as an iPod touch on occasion. I normally don't write many reviews but have to after iPad Rehab's amazing services! In an attempt to backup and update my iPhone recently, there was some catastrophic glitch that led to my phone only booting up with a weird password screen, except none of my passwords would work on it. I hadn't backed it up in a year so potentially was losing a year of treasured photos, videos, etc. including from some special travel trips during that time, and was incredibly stressed about it. I took it to the Apple store and they couldn't figure it out, and said my only other option to potentially recover my data would be to send it to a data recovery company. I got a quote from the Apple-recommended service for thousands of dollars, but after sending my device in they couldn't do anything with it and returned it to me. After much internet research I came across iPad Rehab and based on reviews it seemed like if they couldn't figure it out, no one could - I sent in my information and they promptly replied, at first thinking it was a password lockout issue they might not be able to help with. But I replied with more information and screenshots which they reviewed and had me send in my phone for them to try working with, with an estimated queue time of 6 weeks. I sent it in, and in LESS THAN A WEEK they contacted me with the amazing news that they were able to recover my data! Shortly after paying the invoice (which btw was LESS THAN A THIRD of what the prior company had quoted me), they sent me back my phone with a USB containing all my photos and video files, plus they keep the data on their end for 14 days just in case something happens to the USB in transit. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that the phone itself works now(!!!), as whatever they did to get my data resolved the glitching issue. Was really impressed by their YouTube shows and what they could do. Particularly because Apple tends to leave customers in the dust if the warranty is over. Had an iPad 12.9 Pro 2nd Gen that suddenly stopped working. Tried the "Geniuses" = wasted time. Tried the usual iPhone store = "we cannot do motherboard repair. So I sent it from LA to NY for a possible rehab. After over a month not hearing anything I emailed. finally after 2 months was told that they cannot find the problem. Did they micro-solder my iphone and get data off of it? Yes. Was the data usable? Kinda? Texts were downloaded into pdf screenshots, so all the videos, photos, files, etc, that were in the texts- were lost, unless all you wanted was a pdf screenshot of it. Regarding photos from istream that they had recovered and sorted into a special folder, they were in the new iphone HEIC codec which my computer couldn't open (not their fault, but not recovered to a usable manner for me). My contacts? A spreadsheet. Which, again, how do you sync that to your new phone? I had asked from the very beginning if they could sync my iphone to the cloud- which their website advertises they can, and to inquire about directly as this is not included. Before they received my phone, the answer I got was "Sure, just make sure you put it in the service request." After they received the phone, it was "it depends on if we can restore the wi-fi functionality of the phone." After it was confirmed that they had been able to fix the phone, to sync to the icloud became "Well, we charge by how much we have to parse, it's really not practical, but you can see if you can do it at home." Per their invoice, " There is no guarantee of the function of the device itself after the data is extracted." From my son's growth charts from when he was in the NICU in a particular growth chart app, to so much of the memories and productivity in files shuttled back in forth in the texts- not recovered by iphone rehab thumbdrive of sorted folders. The customer service was frankly, extremely disappointing. Usually, I would have to leave numerous voicemails and emails to get a response a week later. I think it happened twice, that someone responded same day. I think one time it may have been Jessa herself- picked up after hours, at home, and she was great and responsive and made promises that a tech would call me the next day- but did that happen? No. Not until another barrage of emails and voicemails. It is really hard to instill confidence of your servicer when you can't get ahold of the company. Because of my anxiety over the phone being lost in transit, THEY had told me I could fedex it overnight and include a return fedex shipping label. Except when they told me the phone was complete and they were returning it- did my fedex tracking info ever update? No. When I finally get ipadrehab to respond- it turns out they forgot it was supposed to return in the special pre-printed fedex label so I could track it. And even though they said my iphone was supposed to have already shipped out, they never shipped it. But they think they remembered the label still being in the shop, but it was possible it could have been discarded, but _they would get back to me_ and remember to really send it via fedex this time when they REALLY do ship it out. A minor thing: I received the the 64 GB thumbdrive, "This service includes a 64GB USB. Larger drives and data will add to cost due to processing time. (128GB drive- plus $100, 250GB drive- plus $200, 320+GB drive- plus $300) USB and processing cost is 50% refundable if drive returned within 14 days. As my drive was only 64 GB, does this mean no 50% refund for me? Well, its past 14 days, but Ipadrehab, if you would like your thumbdrive back and to give me a partial refund on it, let me know! Months after being disappointed with the usability data on my thumbdrive, I ventured to see if I could reboot my phone and salvage the data from it and sync it to the icloud now that it had been fixed. My phone was returned in the same state I sent to them in- black screen of death, which I had opted for. The instructions aren't very clear as to what would happen: Would my current iphone backups from my new phone automatically try to sync from over the wifi into my damaged phone? Would it overwrite all of the damaged iphone data? Would installing the backup file from the thumbdrive wipe out my backup for my current working phone and would I lose all my new data? Could I merge the data into a single icloud account- or would the months of data when the phones weren't used in parallel be lost? I followed the link to the apple support website and the internet advice for restoring my phone. It has taken an ENTIRE DAY, with much toggling and verifications of icloud and backup and messaging settings, but the good news is, photo by photo, text by text, app by app, all IS being synced to my new phone. Finally- happy that it is complete and recovered! So, I guess my biggest feedback is that yes, this company can technically do what they say. Was it a pleasant experience? No. Did it take alot of work and anxiety on my behalf? Yes. My biggest feedback would be for the company to improve their customer service- set reasonable expectations from the start, and follow through with what you offer you can do in a timely fashion. I think their service needs to evolve to offer more icloud syncing. read more

I feel that people are very lucky to have a repair business that does component level repair to such a high degree in this area. This place is a lifesaver! My iPad died and the home button was stuck and the screen cracked off. Of course I hadn't backed up in a year. For $350 + shipping they beat everyone's prices and delivered 200%! The quotes I got went up to $1800! I sent them literally the metal part of the iPad. It would not turn on. This was after another shop tried to fix it, but could not. They restored the iPad to working condition. It turns on like nothing happened! They installed a brand new screen. They recovered ALL data. They backed up all data to an extra USB flash drive in case my sync didn't work. They shipped it to me in 2 days. Best $358 I ever spent! And they answer the phone! And they are nice! Wow! My phone was diagnosed with "Touch Disease", a grey bar and dead touchscreen. Apple wouldn't touch it when they found out I had replaced the battery with a third party shop, so I found these guys. Same price Apple would have charged, no whining about an aftermarket battery, incredibly fast turnaround, good rate on shipping, and it arrived a day earlier than expected, which matters, it's not easy getting by without your phone these days. I couldn't be happier with the experience. Tip: don't just take your phone into a UPS store, I paid about $40 for 2nd day shipping when USPS would have done the same for $8! Update: Well, it turns out there were other issues too and their repair didn't fix everything (I wouldn't give my passcode, so they couldn't test fully I guess)... So I sent it back, and they worked on it again and found "Long Screw Damage", which I think I probably caused myself when I was poking around... So another $200 to repair that. Not worth it, and no options until..... Sunday (that's her name) offers to refund my original repair minus parts. ...speechless... This is AFTER I told her *I* was probably the one that did the damage.... That is above and beyond the call of duty, VERY impressed.... In general, even though my phone seems dead for good, I felt they were very good at what they do, I whole heartedly recommend them for any relevant repairs! Oh, on top over all that, spent like 10 minutes brainstorming with me what my best options would be, recommending a little known Apple exchange program that applies even to broken phones. I don't doubt that they did their best in trying to recover the information on my device, but their customer service was awful. I paid for the RUSH service and sent my phone in in mid-late July and only just received my device (with no recovered information) in mid-July. During that time span, I would get updates every 20 days or so. In Early September they said the device was unrecoverable and that they'd send it back to me immediately. It sounds like other people had great success with iPad Rehab but unfortunately i wasn't as lucky with my iPhone X. read more

I sent a device in for the Iphone 6 plus iTouch repair. It was received on 5/18 and not sent back for return until 6/5. On top of that, when I got it back it was no better than when I sent it in with respect to touch AND the LED flash no longer worked. I sent it back out for "warranty" work and it was received 6/20 and I heard nothing for weeks calling several times and either getting an answering machine or once getting a person who said they'd call me back with an update that never happened. The phone was finally returned on 7/26 (nearly 5 weeks later) and they said they couldn't fix it. I have no idea what other damage was done during the initial repair outside of the LED light, and now it's suddenly unrepairable. I'm not happy with the time it took and I don't feel I can trust their word that the initial repair didn't cause more damage causing the device to become unrepairable. read more

They were able to fix the backlight issue on my phone but neglected to tighten all the screws down when they put it back together. I recently opened it up to replace the battery and found 4 screws floating around. 1 screw broke a chunk of the screen off when I put it back together. read more

They did great work and fixed my Iphone 6Plus which had the touch disease. I think they're very busy and a little disorganized, but they also are working on weekends. I would definitely use them again, especially as their prices are cheaper than Apple and some other people who fix phones. read more

After getting my ipad back in horrible condition from these guys I had to send it back to them but then they put it into a completely new housing and got it back into working order and back to me vry quickly. I was referred to ipad rehab from Boston IPhone Repair after I was pushed off my boat into the lake with my phone in my hand, I made a valiant effort and spun in mid air and threw it back toward the boat, only to have it bounce off the top of my seat and into the sand bar where we were raging.... Then later on, my friend who had way too much to drink decided to see if he could get the rice stuck in the power port out and he dropped it and smashed the screen, sadly this would be the end of my iPhone 6 and everything on it.. NO I DONT USE THE FUCKING CLOUD TO BACK THINGS UP !!!!! In case you were asking. You see I got divorced years ago, and there are some rather sketchy things on my phone that my kids came across on appletv one time... sorry guys. With that said, I had about 3 months of photos on this thing and was desperate to get them back.. So I sent it off to ipad rehab and a few months later 6-8 weeks typical, I had my photos back, they put in a new power port or whatever the hell you call it and my phone actually works still... Not that I care because I got the 7 the day it came out, because it's water resistant and after 4 phones in the lake, I have had enough... It's actually water proof, you can put this thing in the shower with you and it's fine... My point, IPAD REHAB fucking rules..... I have all my photos back and I couldn't be happier... read more

I tried other options (all very nice people but no dice) and so sending a failed iPhone to Ipad Rehab was a last resort to attempt to retrieve data. And they did. Apple said, "no we can't" after eyeing the phone from 20 feet away and we expect that ... then I tried 3 other very well-regarded services who all said, "NOPE. Can't retrieve." Ipad Rehab did the data retrieval. 100% of it and it was far less expensive than other places. By those measures they are number 1 of all services. I didn't want the phone fixed, I said, "do what you can to retrieve data" and they did. So if that is what you want, I had success here. I got a personal call telling me that the data was retrieved. They are not super-slick, branded, heartless people working for a giant corporation, they are family and people who like to tinker with devices and do what they can with their brains and talent. I am not an idiot when it comes to electronics and my impression after reading about these folks and what they do is that they are ethical, smart, and teachers. That suits my style. Sure it took a little while. That suited me too but may not suit you if you need an overnight fix or to overnight to a corporation who will tell they can't fix it. Ipad Rehab did the thing I needed. They saved the photos/videos that did not back up after my friend died. Now I can see them again. Thanks for the healing Ipad Rehab and God's Speed to you in your amazing work. Moral of the story: at the end of the world when we need to patch iPhones together to push back the falling sun to survive, I'll be bicycling to Honeoye Falls. read more
