This review is for the black lady in the drive thru not the food, very, very rude, does not give you time to order and just keeps saying "anything else, anything else", if she's not the owner I recommend the owner dismiss her immediately I would not have my business known for this rude behavior, and it's not been an isolated incident, she's terrible and needs to work somewhere to which she has no interaction with the public period.

Sadly this place needs some work. Beef ribs were very tough and chewy. The pork ribs were salty and tough. The fries were the big winner here. Not sure what happened here, but this place didn't work for us.

Yum. Popped in on the way to Mardi Gras in LA. Place was almost empty but the service was fantastic, food was too.

Jim Neely's Interstate BBQ The secret is in the sauce at this iconic barbecue joint, where owner and founder Jim Neely began selling his smoked creations back in 1979. Inside and out, Interstate is perfumed by smoke from slow-sizzling barbecue round the clock. That is because the pork shoulders are out in the pit at 5pm for the next day's lunch and they start the day's ribs every morning. Chopped pork shoulder had a few crusty outside shreds. A large chopped pork sandwich is the most Memphian dish on the menu, made as per local custom with a layer of cool cole slaw atop the well-sauced meat. It is a total mess that disintegrates as you eat it, but the most delicious mess imaginable! Interstate Barbeque's menu is rather large and includes the classic pork ribs and chopped pork, but it's their Bar-B-Q Spaghetti Dinner that attracts most diners. Stated as an Interstate original but that's debatable as The Bar-B-Q Shop boasts that their location was the first to create this dish. As it was Brady Vincent, a former railroad cook who opened a barbecue restaurant called Brady and Lil's. When Vincent retired in 1980, he sold the business to Frank and Hazel Vernon. The Vernons moved the restaurant to its current location on Madison Avenue and renamed it The Bar-B-Q Shop, but they still make barbecue spaghetti using Vincent's original recipe. BBQ Spaghetti Iconic Memphis Staple Locals and outsiders alike seem rather divided on the merits of barbecued spaghetti. Some praise it as a high delicacy while others seemed baffled by it altogether. I, for one, fell in love with it at first bite. Why mess around with potato salad or french fries? If you can accompany your pork barbecue with a side dish that incorporates even more pork barbecue with soft noodles in superb sauce! Barbecue spaghetti is a dish from Memphis, Tennessee, that combines spaghetti with a sauce made from shredded smoked pulled pork, sautéed peppers and onions and barbecue sauce.

If Yelp let us do half stars. I would have given them a three and a half. I work near this place and have eaten here for years. I can say they use to have very good BBQ. Its still pretty good but I can tell a difference betweenthen and now. The food use to be much fresher when you ordered. I think they pre-make things that sits for a while on heat now. The food I received today was good. It just tasted like it had been re-heated......maybe in a microwave? The Smoke Sausage looked like it was a little overcooked and the BBQ Spaghetti tasted like it was heated up or microwaved. It a shame because I really like their food when everything is fresh made. Dont get me wrong it was still pretty good. Mr. Neelys wife and daughters work hard in the pick up area. They are always very nice to me. It could be lack of good help or other factors but I hope they get back to the fresher food soon. I love their BBQ Spaghetti! I got it on the side one time and never stopped ordering it. Its the only BBQ Spaghetti I will eat. I hope to come back and update later!

Legendary spot here that shouldn't be missed. Amazingly friendly service, and the food was as good as I remembered.

Ribs were good. Sides were ok but a staple Memphis bbq place through the years. One of my kids had the bbq nachos and it looked great.

This location is a large building with lots of seating options. I had to try Central as it keeps winning awards and is consistently mentioned as the top BBQ place in the Memphis area. Some of their awards were displayed at the entrance and on the walls. Lots of history. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and had the slaw on the side so I could have it (she's not a slaw fan). I had the small order of ribs with 1/2 dry and 1/2 wet with sides of BBQ Beans and Mac n Cheese. I tried the pulled pork and it was tender and delicious. My ribs were pretty good with my favorite part being the wet ribs. The dry part was overcooked and really dry and chewy. This was a bit of a disappointment. The BBQ beans were flavorful but a bit mushy. The Mac n cheese also mushy a bit but tasted better than it looked. I love great BBQ so I like Central BBQ but may have caught them on a bad day. Oh, they were out of a lot of T Shirt options/size I wanted too. Darn. I wanted to buy one. I would return and try the brisket, pulled pork or poultry items next time.

This entire restaurant is built on a slight slope, and they did not level the foundation when building out the restaurant, so if you're sitting at your table and the table is aligned north to south, you will see a slight lean to the flooring. Also, if you have any juices on your plate of food, the juices will flow toward Beale Street. I wanted to try their tamales but will have to do it on a subsequent visit. This visit we ordered the bowl of gumbo and the Memphis strip steak which is pre-cut for you. The gumbo is slightly salty but good. The strip steak was really good, filling and cooked to order. I chose new potatoes as my one side. Service here can be a little difficult depending how busy they are and how wild your fellow patrons in the restaurant can be. It took a long time to pay the bill here due to a large party coming in right when we were wanting to pay and our server was attending to them for about 15 mins while we were trying to flag him down. Other than that, we had no other problems. I would happily return the next time I'm in the downtown area and looking for food near Beale Street.

There is plenty of parking in a lot across the street. We went inside and found it to be pretty busy, but we got a table for 4 quickly. The place was clean and homey-feeling and I loved the fact that they used disposable plates, utensils and napkins! It is probably way easier on the crew to clean up, and it adds to the relaxed atmosphere. I had the corn nuggets to start, yum! We finished them easily, they were so good. Then the entree of my chicken tenders, beans, and Mac and cheese came out, along with my sweet tea. The sweet tea was perfect, I drank a whole one during my meal and they gave me another to go in the souvenir Gus's cup. The food was just great, chicken was juicy and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Beans and Mac and cheese, delicious! I ate all of it even though I was stuffed. I even went so far as to order a piece of pecan pie for dessert, but unfortunately our server came back out to tell us they were out of it! Guess it wasn't meant to be (this time)! My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves here and for what it might lack in some areas, the character and staff more than make up for it. We had a seat at a crossroads area where two in-restaurant walkways merged and there was no shortage of ongoing activity throughout our visit. We shared the perfect sized Pork Ribs and Brisket Combo with sides of beans and coleslaw. The meats are all charcoal grilled and tasted very good. They put a LOT of dry seasoning on the ribs. I liked the baked beans and mustard vinegar slaw as well. They were a nice compliment to our meats. The ribs were a bit dry but good with the added tangy BBQ sauce that is on every table. I even bought a bottle to take home. Our server was Mark F and was very seasoned and professional. He did a great job.
