There is enjoyable open viewed kitchen where the chefs prepare amazing artistic meals with inviting delicious aromas. A variation of delightful wines that pair perfectly to the menu. Food was 20 minutes late behind people that had been there way after us. No apologies what so ever on our meal being late. So I decided to go back today because my wife likes their food. Order sat at the bar since we again did not have reservations. Open bar I was told. Had a couple of drinks an appetizer and ordered all at once. Her salad came out in reasonable time. Mine never came. After telling the bar tender just to cancel my order because it's been 20 min after the salad, he said it was coming right up. Look at him go through all the food sitting by and my steak was nowhere to be found. All he said was sorry. Asked to speak to a manager and he was somewhat apologetic. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!! If I could give them a -1 star I would do -5 stars. Move elsewhere. I rather have the macaroni grill back than this place. I had better service at a homeless shelter than this place. Hopefully someone has a better experience if you go there. They should fire the manager cause he definitely does not know how to treat his customers. read more

A true gem! Our dinner experience at Interlude was exceptional! From entering a beautiful space, to the welcoming greeting at the door, to the impeccable service from Jessica and Miguel, to the robust flavors experienced during every stage of our meal, we were impressed. The specialty cocktails were fun and tasty along with the prime rib bruschetta, was a delicious way to start. The salmon was amazing and I substituted polenta for the potatoes and was so glad I did. The pork chop was wonderful and both the salmon and chop were perfectly cooked. The risotto was fantastic, as well. For dessert, the chocolate mousse cake was rich and scrumptious. Husband and I ate here on Friday night. It was pretty packed but fortunately we only waited a few minutes for a table. The place was light and bright very traditional modern inside. Very pretty. I love a bright restaurant as the dark dimly lit ones I feel have something to hide.The service was great, fast, and attentive. Also, new set of silverware with entree was pretty impressive. We had the bread and butter 10/10. I had the Chardonnay le finage 10/10. Husband had the lemon drop 6/10. First sip the loved it because he thought it was "strong" but soon realized it was just very acidic and not tasty. He also noted the no sugar around the rim which is very common on a lemon drop. We shared a Cesar salad which was 10/10. I had the ribeye 10/10. Although it was cooked medium well, not medium, it was still very very good. Very flavorful and the purée served with it paired beautifully. I could eat this everyday. Husband had the carbonara. He rated it a 6/10. Said the noodles were cheap tasting and not much flavor. It was plain and lacking. We shard the tiramisu and my husband and I said it was the best we've ever had. And we have many. 10/10. It was nice and cold and very creamy. The food justified the price. Elk Grove should feel lucky as their sister restaurant Prelude in Sacramento is more pricey. I will return again. Hopefully, my husband will order something else he will love as much as I loved my picks. This is a great restaurant and I LOVE It! read more

Stopped in on a Wednesday evening, my wife and I sat at the bar, which had a partial view into the kitchen. It's an upper scale restaurant for EG, which is a nice option. We had the risotto with prawns, Cesar with grilled chicken and side of bread. Risotto was delicious, Caesar was good also. They cook over live fire, which was nice. Lightning was a little bright, maybe dimming the lights a bit would make the space a bit more pleasant. We'll definitely be returning. read more

Apologies, but I too had higher hopes for this place considering its menu is quite small. The place is more like a bistro with food that could be improved and lighting that is quite bright considering the crowd it's trying to target. The service was good, but because everyone was still very new, waiter took my plate before I finished. Chicken was quite dry for it being dark meat and felt like I could cooked the meal at home myself for - fraction of the price. For 3 ppl with no alcohol drinks was $115. Also, the bread isn't free, they charge "because it's so delicious" . Sadly I won't come back again until they dim the lights, lower prices and improve food. read more

I had very high hopes for this new establishment. First of all ,just my thing,I didn't like the seating in the main dinning area. I dont want to sit so close to strangers. Second the lighting was too bright. Third I ordered a Martini and the bartender stirred it instead of shaking it, nit picky yes. Fourth, I ordered oysters and every oyster had pieces of broken shell in it. Server took note of this but didn't offer a fresh plate or take it off the bill. Fifth, we ordered the beet salad. The vinegarettte dressing was so over powering that it choked me when I exhaled while eating it. I couldn't finish it. Last was the roster chicken. I thought it would have brown crispy skin. It had rubbery skin and the meat was rubbery as well. It was on a bed of some sort of rice or pasta with a very underwhelming sauce. This meal cost 224.00 before tip. I expected so much more. We had a reservation for two at 6:30 PM. Check-in was a bit awkward--the front-of-house staff seemed uncomfortable, and the greeting could have been warmer. The hostess spoke so softly that I couldn't understand him; thankfully, my wife did. The ambiance and décor were well thought out, and the open layout gave the restaurant a spacious feel. Our server, Laura, was excellent--knowledgeable about the menu and upfront about the wood-grilled prime ribeye being unavailable. For drinks, we ordered two Old Fashioneds. They were okay but felt like they were missing something--perhaps an extra splash of syrup or bitters. Our appetizer was Fritto Misto (calamari), which unfortunately arrived lukewarm with tough breading. After a few bites, we sent it back. Laura explained they use semolina and all-purpose flour for the coating. She quickly brought the menu back, and we opted for grilled prawns instead. These were perfectly cooked, and the gremolata complemented them beautifully. The manager acknowledged the calamari wasn't up to standard, which we appreciated. While finishing the prawns, the manager informed us they were also out of the lamb T-bone. We substituted with the Niman Ranch pork chop. Our mains were King salmon and the pork chop. Both were cooked well, though the salmon needed more seasoning--blackened preparation might have elevated it. The pork chop was flavorful, and its accompaniments worked nicely together. Overall, the pork was the standout dish. For dessert, we chose tiramisu. It was very good, though the layer of melted chocolate underneath was unnecessary and overpowered the delicate flavors. Ratings: Front of House: 3/5 - Staff seemed uncomfortable; host interaction was awkward. Food: 2/5 - Out of ribeye and lamb; calamari was inedible; salmon lacked seasoning. Service: 4/5 - Laura was attentive, personable, and proactive. Overall: 3/5 - The restaurant has potential, and I'd consider returning to give it another try. read more

Overall good experience- food was very good, we were a large party so basically ordered almost everything on the menu. Really loved all the apps we got, and the risotto and the salmon were excellent. Drinks/cocktails were also very good. Only two things I would want to see next time I go back- 1) service was slow in parts. I know they're new, and still working things out but it took along time for our bill to arrive. 2) where we were sitting was BRIGHT. Like, almost too well lit. They have candles on all the tables so they're obviously trying to create some ambiance. At a restaurant like this I would expect lighting to be dimmed. It was distracting and took a little away from the experience for me. However, the restaurant space is really nicely redone. It's a very pretty light, airy space and for the size of it it wasn't overly loud and we could easily converse. I love reading restaurant reviews to see if my findings were the same as others. We're not in the food business but are definitely foodies, looking for that boom! spot that keep us spending in EG and not so much in Sac. The most recent spot to do that (to an extent) is Raw Sushi. Five minutes from the house, really good food, great service and staff. Being honest, we still venture to Tokyo Table in Tahoe Park more often. Now, Interlude Kitchen (IK). We've been EG for decades and the old Macaroni Grill was the place to go, usually with the kids. Good variety of food, large crowds, nice buzzing vibe, great location, etc., so clearly our minds went back to those days when we walked in. Soft-opening so we went in with an open mind except that my wife visited Prelude downtown and did not enjoy it at all. First take on ambiance; nice job remodeling the interior. The open kitchen is a nice touch. Another reviewer mentioned the tables being too close. I didn't pick up on that when we visited but now I do agree. The bigger thing that I recognized is the lighting. A fine dining restaurant should not and cannot have lighting that bright! Not sure what they were thinking but the lights need to be dimmed to set the mood of fine dining. Food: soft opening, limited menu to fine tune some things, so completely understand. First thing that caught my eye was the Frito Misto. I had to order it for comparison to the one at one of my fav places, One Speed Pizza in East Sac (they serve way more than just pizza). We've been going there since they opened about 16 years ago. IK's does not compare to One Speed and costed more. It didn't have any seasonal veggies, large gulf shrimp or (OMG) anchovy Olives. Anyway, that was a letdown. The bread was good (addictive). The wild mushroom soup was very good after I sent it back to be heated. The Bucatini Carbonara was excellent. It was late so that's all we had.Service (Laura) was very good and staff was attentive. They had a decent small wine list. I had a Davis Bynum Pinot that was really good but $20 a glass was too high. I'm pretty sure we will visit ago once they get their legs under them and the menu expands. I'm not sure how they plan to represent the restaurant through its food offerings but hope it includes more options for steak, seafood, pastas and "fine dining" burgers. I think EG is looking for and ready for that fine dining experience, sort of a combination of SR Prime Steakhouse and Q1227. The location is great, a big step up from nearby BJ's and other places nearby, and can define become that new destination spot since the old Macaroni Grill. read more

This was our second time eating here. The first time was about two weeks after they opened. Both times I got the chicken which I thought was very good. We have tried some of their appetizers. This time we got the calamari and the bruschetta. The calamari was very, very salty. The bruschetta was good. I also got a Caesar salad, which I thought was good. A couple of people in our party got their cioppino. Usually that comes in more of a stew that has some liquid. This was more like a marinara sauce. It was thick, but there wasn't really that much of it. The people that got it said it was kind of lukewarm when I got there, but it quickly cooled off. Another person in our party had ordered the steak cooked medium, and it was more well done. The service was pretty good, but it was a little bit slow we felt. We were there for about 2 1/2 hours. Which I think is a little bit too long. I would like to see them add some more options to their menu maybe some type of a pasta. Maybe a burger. Also maybe more salad choices with the option to add some type of a protein to that. Also, some other type of a fish besides the salmon. Hopefully, they start to offer lunch with a different variety and also offer some happy hour special specials. The ambience is very good and we do like the inside of it. The food was amazing both times and the few minor kinks with service/ timing we experienced the first time seem to have been completely worked out. We wanted to be able to try this place. They were busy and we wanted to eat in the bar. The only seats available in the bar were at the far end and on regular chairs, not bar stools. That was something we were ok with, We ended up walking out because the bartendar didnt greet us or hand us a menu. He did say he would be with us shortly but that turned into not so shortly. Its always a wierd feeling to be seating and no one hands you a drink menu or a food menu. Handing a menu takes 10 seconds. We ended up at Raw, and we enjoyed the place. read more

The places looks great...I worked in that building for many years and never seen it look so good.. Laura was our server she was friendly and professional. She described the special and made them sound delicious. For a upper scale restaurant I was very suprised they charge $6 for a small amount of bread which was ok at best, the calamari was good but not anything special. We order the NY steak and pork chop, both where ok once again nothing spectacular for the price. I will say steakbwas cooked just the way I asked and steak sauce was the best part. The hosts were very rude when we walked in, I asked if they had room for 4 and a baby and they asked if we had a reservation and I said no and they laughed. I asked if we needed one and they both said yes, the restaurant was basically empty except the bar. Then they sat us down immediately which made no sense, nobody seemed like they knew what they were doing and it smelled liked they burnt a bunch of orders. I got the risotto which was basically flavorless and there was barely anything to pick from the menu, all being expensive items. The staff other than the hosts were very nice, they are only open from 4-9 which I think is kinda weird hours for a bar but overall flavorless food for the pasta, wouldn't go back nothing special about this place. read more

Incredible service and divine food. Atmosphere is classy, but in a relaxed, unpretentious way. We arrived early for our reservation on a Friday evening, and spent about 30 minutes at the bar. I had the seasonal lemon drop and my husband had whiskey. Once we got to our table, we had the oysters and prime rib bruschetta to start.
