We've been to Interlude Kitchen and Bar three times now for family dinners. Our first visit was enjoyable, though service was a bit slow--which we understood since they had just opened. The second visit was less positive; while the food was still good, the service really dropped off. It was hard to find staff, and no one checked in on us or refilled our water. This most recent visit showed improvement. The staff seemed more organized, the service was smoother, and the overall experience was more enjoyable. The food was good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and since it's close to home, it's a convenient spot for our family. We're hopeful they continue to improve.

Came here to celebrate my partner's birthday and had a wonderful experience overall. We ordered the risotto and the lamb chops. The risotto wasn't quite my favorite. It was a bit thicker than I personally prefer for risotto, but the lamb chops were absolutely spectacular. They were cooked perfectly, well-seasoned, and paired with an incredibly well-made polenta that completed the dish beautifully. What really made the night special was our server. Despite how busy the restaurant was, he still took the time to doodle "Happy Birthday" on a napkin for my partner, which was such a thoughtful touch. He also kindly removed the risotto from the bill after noticing I barely ate it, which I truly appreciated. Even though the risotto wasn't for me, the outstanding lamb chops and exceptional service easily made this a five-star experience. I didn't catch our server's name, but he'll know who he is once he sees the napkin!

We went to Interlude after hearing so much about it, and I'll say this first the ambience is beautiful. It feels really intimate and personal, not overly loud or chaotic, which I loved. It's definitely more of a slow, sit down and enjoy kind of place. There were a lot of vegetarians at our table, and they only had one veg entrée, so we ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers to share. The garlic sourdough was honestly one of my favorites. It was so soft, the butter just melts into it, super simple but done really well. The grilled brie though... I was expecting an actual piece of brie, but it came more like a small spread with honey on bread. It wasn't bad, just not what I had in mind and didn't really feel like a "brie dish." We also got the mozzarella caponata, which had really nice flavor. there's a good kick from the chili oil and eggplant, but I wish the cheese was warm. Or even if they used halloumi or something, it would've made it way better. The beet salad was okay... nothing special, pretty average. For the entrée, we got the risotto, which was good, but again--it was literally the only vegetarian option, which was kind of frustrating since there were multiple of us who don't eat meat. I just wish they had even one or two more veg mains. The service though was honestly amazing. Our server was so good. He was super attentive, knew the menu well, and just made the whole experience feel smooth. Overall, I'd go back for the ambience and service, but I really hope they add more vegetarian options because that was the biggest downside for us.

Salad, a Beet salad. With oranges and arugula good stuff. Love some good beets.

I always love eating good food. And Interlude Kitchen and Bar. Though new, had good food. We had steak. We had salmon. We had a salad. I even had a chocolate cake. And of course. Because I am a growing boy. I had a couple cocktails. But also a responsible boy. My wife had a mocktail. Everything was great. The service was great. We would definitely come back again. I hope they have a revolving menu to see what else the chef can make with the local resources. So far what we had was great.

Made dinner reservations about a month prior to Valentine's Day for my girlfriend and I on OpenTable at Interlude and after a quick wait, we were seated. The GM took us to our seats and chatted us up briefly about Interlude, its sister restaurants in the area and how they've only been in operation approximately 2-3 months after taking over the previous establishment, the Macaroni Grill. Once seated, our server, Dominic gave us the low down on specials and recommendations on the menu. He was great, always present and available to answer any questions we had. We started out with drinks, a 1738 Spiced Pear Sidecar for myself and a Lemondrop for my lady. Both drinks were delicious and STRONG. On to the food: we went with the Flash Fried Brussel Sprouts, Bella Bru Garlic Sourdough, Caesar Salad, Prime Ribeye, Pork Chop and the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee. Surprisingly, our favorite dish of night was the Caesar Salad. The dressing on the salad was just perfect, honestly one of the best I've ever had. We also really enjoyed the sourdough and creme brulee. As for the entrees, I got my steak medium rare, yet it was way close to rare, but the detractor was the major lack of seasoning. It felt like little to no salt was used both my steak and the pork chop. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner and will be back but after we save up a little since this place feels more like a special celebration/splurge type of place.

One of my favorite restaurants in Elk Grove. Been dropping by here since they opened up. If you show up when they first open up without reservations you won't have any issue getting in. Plenty of seating. Staff's very friendly here! Big fan of the drinks from Jessica. My go to currently is the Salmon. It's been consistently good every time. Menu is due for an update already in my opinion. lt hasn't changed noticeably since I've been coming in. Highly recommend checking it out!

We stopped in for an early Valentine's Day dinner & the entire experience was underwhelming. The atmosphere was okay, felt little bright inside but generally felt okay. We were greeted & seated promptly, we did have reservations in advance. The service was okay, the server was nice but a bit awkward. We really wanted to love the food but honestly everything was mediocre at best. I started off with a lemon drop and it wasn't very full. We tried the oysters, Ceasar salad, garlic bread, steak, carbonara & kids meal of sliders and pasta. The main items I enjoyed were the garlic bread and oysters. The steak didn't have much flavor and was a bit dry for a medium cook. The kids meal comes with one scope of gelato. He did bring two orders since we ordered two kids meals but somehow was charged for one order of gelato after they brought out the initial bill. This was corrected after it was brought to their attention. Overall the experience fell short and some of room for improvement.

Interlude has taken over where Macaroni Grill used to be on Laguna. I've been to their sister restaurant, Prelude, downtown for Happy Hour before and was able to make dinner reservations on OpenTable for my early January birthday for a party of 4. For our shared starter, we got the brussel sprouts. We also split a tall bottle of Pelligrino for the table. I even tried one of their mocktails called the "Whistleblower." For mains, I had the prime rib, and my extended fam had the lamb buccatini, mushroom risotto, and salmon entrees. For desserts, I had the tiramisu and auntie also tried the seasonal gelato flavor, which was pistachio. My prime rib was delicious -- I tried a bite of the risotto too and I wish that or the brussels were an option as a side dish for the steak! The tiramisu was also yummy. Service was friendly and prompt, the interior modern and not too loud. Restroom also very clean. Great for a special occasion, but pricewise it is a splurge.

Great new date night spot in Elk Grove. Pretty busy on the weekend nights so I recommend making a reservation. Lots of parking available since it shares the lot with several other businesses in the shopping center. They have an open kitchen where you can see things being plated and it's fun to watch if you're seated near. LOTS of seating and very comfy, plush chairs. Somewhat loud and we had a slightly hard time hearing the server. Dinner was already $120+ for 2 drinks and 2 entrees so we didn't try any sides. Chicken was amazing, juicy and fell off the bone easily. The dish is VERY tomato forward. The steak was very good with crispy onions and potato puree, the flavors and textures really balanced each other out. I do agree with a lot of reviews that it's on the higher cost end for what you get and I personally would not make this a routine spot but it will be a good place to bring out of town guests for a nice dinner. I appreciate that they are farm to fork because I value the freshness and sustainability of this practice! I'd like to see more businesses like this in Elk Grove, maybe at a lower price point.

Last had dinner during their grand opening weekend and things are still fantastic. The pork chop seemed a little thinner than before but was still grilled to perfection. The service was stellar - our waiter (Lalo) was attentive but not overbearing. The downside was the kitchen was "backed up" so our food took some time but it was worth the wait. Interlude is easily one of the best restaurants in Elk Grove.

Absolutely loved my experience at Interlude! This place is the perfect combination of fine dining without an air of pretentiousness. The staff move about in a coordinated dance of service--we wanted for nothing the entire time we dined. They were all warm and welcoming. It's bright and clean and sleek inside, and the tables are incredibly cozy without feeling cramped or squeezed in. The food was most excellent--the oysters were fresh and luscious, the shrimp cooked delicately, and you must try the beet carpaccio. The mushroom soup is earthen perfection. The salmon was tender, the bucatini silken. I'm not a restaurant repeater by nature, but I'd return to Interlude for sure, especially for another celebratory meal. Cheers!

Interlude Kitchen and Bar took over Macaroni Grill and the new interior decor looks clean and elegant. When you first enter the restaurant, you get hit with the smokey aroma from cooking their entrees on a wooden plank. It was strong in the restaurant, and not so much infused in the entrees. I came with a party of four with a reservation and got seated immediately on a Thursday. We each ordered a different entree and got a taste of each. The best items were the King Salmon, which was cooked to perfection. Seasoned nicely, crispy on the outside, moist and flakey on the inside. The prime rib on the bruschetta was tender, warm and nicely balanced between the crunchy yet soft bread. These two items were my favorite. The mushroom soup came out hot, but flavorless. The Niman Ranch Pork Chop was dry, the Dixon Ranch T-bone was gamey and risotto was cooked well, just needed a bit more seasoning. The service was there and very friendly, but not very attentive or efficient. I would ask for one thing and I could see them doing a bunch of other tasks before getting back with my request. Due to some circumstances, I needed to leave in a hurry so I asked for a box and the check. They helped me packed up my leftovers, but took a few orders, sent out a few entrees, came back to ask if we wanted desserts before bringing the check. Unless I am craving a $36 piece of salmon or if the menu changes seasonally, I don't think I will come back. The ambiance makes it a nice date spot though.

This was my second visit to Interlude Kitchen and Bar, and unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my first experience. The first time I came, everything from the food to the service was excellent, which is why I decided to return. This time, most of the dishes were still good, but one really missed the mark. The squid ink tonnarelli was overloaded with garlic to the point where it completely overpowered the dish. The staff were all friendly and polite, but the service lacked attentiveness. We had to ask multiple times just to get simple things. For example, I had to request hot water twice, and when we wanted a dessert menu, we ended up asking two different servers before receiving it. The biggest issue, though, was the wait time. While we were seated promptly at our reservation time, it took quite a while for a server to come take our order. After ordering, there were long gaps before both the appetizers and main courses arrived. In total, our dining experience lasted nearly three hours, with most of that time spent waiting for food. Overall, while the food is still generally good, the slow and inattentive service made this visit disappointing compared to the first.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a full parking lot...which is always a good sign. Upon entering what we thought was the Velvet Martini Lounge, we were greeted by an employee named Matt. Matt was very friendly and understanding when he realized that we intended on being in the Velvet Martini Lounge, not the Sheldon Inn Restaurant. He went above and beyond by introducing us to an employee who worked at the Velvet Martini Lounge and escorted us upstairs to the lounge. Upon being seated at the lounge, we were greeted by server James, who provided us with menus. Our sole purpose was to connect solely over adult beverages, so we both placed orders for drinks. My wife ordered the Big Shot Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, and I ordered the Havana Haze (a rum-based drink). As we slowly sipped our drinks, we enjoyed our date night in the dimly lit, romantic ambience of the lounge. The background music was played at a perfect volume to where you could hear the music as equally as you could hear the individual(s) talking at your table. James did a great job of not being a "helicopter server" by periodically checking in on us. We intended on ordering a second round, but the drinks were so deliciously stiff (a sneaky stiff) that we decided it would be a wise decision to end the night. I cannot wait to make a return visit to celebrate one of our monthly anniversaries, I recommend checking out Velvet Martini Lounge!

The drinks were okay, but we decided to get the espresso martini since we figured if the place is called Velvet Martini, maybe they specialize in Martinis. The espresso martini was the best cocktail out of the 3 we ordered and we were glad we got it to redeem the other drinks. There was a good amount of people here, some out celebrating birthdays, some on dates, and some tables of friends just hanging out and having food and drinks. There was also an outdoor area from the restaurant below which seemed to have a nice dinner setting. I would say the velvet martini is worth coming by if you're in the area and looking for drinks, but it is in a much more secluded area.
