We visited V's Paradise yesterday to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday, and the experience was flawless from start to finish. We'd booked reservations a month in advance because my mom had been following them on social media, and the reality exceeded the hype. The vibes of the restaurant are the perfect blend of classic historic charm and sophisticated modern dining--it's a beautiful space. The hospitality is next-level. Fardeen greeted us warmly and stepped in seamlessly whenever needed. Our server, Zane, was incredibly knowledgeable and guided us through the menu with perfect recommendations. We were even surprised by the owner, Vardan, who personally wished my mother a happy birthday--he is truly genuine and thoughtful. Richard, the general manager, also took the time to share the family history of the business and gave us a tour of the establishment. He even explained the story behind every dish we ordered! The Food & Drinks: The menu is exceptional. We started with the Strawberry Paradise, Old Fashioned, Vodka Martini, and Moscow Mule--all perfectly balanced. For the table, the Meat and Chicken Kebabs and the Chicken Fried Oysters were tender and packed with flavor. We also shared a Tomahawk that my mother described as "cooked to perfection." Our individual entrées--the Halibut, Wagyu Short Rib, NY Steak, and the 5 oz. Japanese Wagyu--were PHENOMENAL. The quality of the meat was exquisite; it takes a lot to impress me, but I was blown away. A huge shoutout to Sasha, who was a total pro at the end of the night, coming in clutch to capture our group photos from every angle to make sure we had the perfect memories. Most importantly, my mom was so happy and thoroughly enjoyed her celebration. Thank you to the entire team at V's for making her 70th so special!

Make reservations BUT they will list you if not! This was my birthday dinner and this place was a class act! Pet friendly and the whole spot was SWANKY! Worth the wait! There was a mix up and they missed our entrees & brought dessert too soon. They made me feel special on my special day! Everything was delicious and the drinks were perfect! Dress up & go out for a night on the town! They will treat you right!

Came with some girlfriends for brunch because they posted they had a DJ playing reggaeton music that day and thought it would be a fun vibe. The DJ was set up but he wasn't playing any music, it was all regular music over the loudspeakers. Maybe because it was dead inside??? Anyways, we got a carafe of mimosas which was ridiculously expensive ($55), my friends both got the crab cake Benedict and I opted for the frittata. My frittata was mediocre, it honestly lacked flavor. I had to drown it in Siracha. My potatoes were a tad burn as well. My friends devoured the crab cake Benedict tho, so that must have been good. Overall, I feel this place is a one and done experience for me. I get the location and overhead must be crazy high for this place, but I couldn't justify some of their prices (especially that mimosa carafe). Oh and when we asked the waiter when we were paying our tab what happened to the DJ music, he walked over the to DJ and he started playing the reggaeton music, as were leaving.

Made a reservation at VS Paradise for my birthday brunch! In my reservation I made a request to sit against a wall for photos (LOL) and they did exactly that! The hospitality here is top tier. The staff and owner Richard were very friendly and knowledgable. I was pleased with every moment of my experience! Our food was delicious and the vibe/atmosphere was EXACTLY what i was wanting. They had the BEST music playing at a perfect volume. I also utilized many areas for my birthday photos and the staff were very accommodating. i brought my own cake and was able to light my own candles. overall, i had a 12/10 experience here at VS Paradise! i will definitely be coming back. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY BIRTHDAY SO SPECIAL!

My Mother's Day brunch experience was extremely disappointing. My daughter paid a $75 deposit to reserve our table. I arrived first and was refused seating until my two daughters arrived. If the deposit secured the reservation, there should not have been an issue seating me -- especially since the buffet for my seat was already paid for whether the others arrived or not. I explained to the host that I am currently recovering from knee replacement surgery and needed to sit down. I was eventually offered a chair while waiting. When we were finally seated, the table only accommodated two people even though our reservation was for three. When I pointed this out to the hostess, she responded, "I already have the seating planned out." My response was, "Well, you did not plan well." We were eventually moved to a larger table. The food experience was also disappointing. The bacon was served raw and we had to specifically request that it be cooked well done. The most unacceptable part was that water began leaking from the ceiling directly into my plate. When the owner was informed, he responded by saying it was "clean water coming from the AC." Regardless of the source, water leaking through a ceiling into someone's food is unacceptable. He also stated that shutting off the AC would require canceling the buffet and only offered me a clean plate -- which I had already gotten myself. No apology, discount, or other effort was made to address the situation. Overall, this establishment seems far more focused on ambiance than customer service or guest experience.

We went to V's Paradise specifically because they had a live saxophonist, and it ended up being a great experience. We came during brunch when the space was bright and not too crowded. The hostess and our server were very attentive, they let us choose our seats and even moved us closer to the saxophone, which we appreciated. I ordered hot water, which surprisingly can be hard to get at some places, so I was pleased they brought it without any issue. We tried the Dubai Espresso Martini; it was good, though I think next time I'd just stick with a regular espresso martini. For food, we ordered the Crab Cake Benedict, the French toast, and a side salad that wasn't even on the menu. The crab cakes were delicious and full of flavor. We added a side of fries because they were recommended, and they did not disappoint; thin, crispy, and well seasoned. The French toast was tasty, especially with the compote. The side salad felt very fall-inspired, and I was genuinely impressed with how quickly they put it together even though it wasn't listed on the menu. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at V's Paradise and will definitely be back.

Its a beautiful room, but the food is expensive and mine was under-seasoned non-pesto pesto rigatoni. It came swimming in olive oil with oil-logged eggplant and congealed greasy cheese. My dining partner got a crispy pork sandwich and roasted potatoes which were more edible than what I got.

Lovely bar...shady practices. Ordered the devil's flowers Pinot (@ $15 glass) and when the check came it showed a $25 Pinot plus tax. When I called the bartender out on it, he made it sound like I hadn't specified which Pinot when I ordered, and he just assumed it was the most expensive one when I literally said, "I will have the devil's flower Pinot." Don't try to make me feel bad for your unrequested upsell. The place had a shady vibe from the moment we stepped in, and we won't be back. Also...a lot of seeming shills in the reviews for this place. Caveat emptor.

Sunday, 8/10/2025 @ V's Paradise. Food is good here. Parking a little hard to find. You just gotta in the parking structure in old Sacramento. Restaurant is still clean and beautiful. Staffs nice. I had a nice time here and enjoyed it. We came here to celebrate a birthday. But one of my friend, after I left, said she had a rough time with the manager and did not like this restaurant. I still gotta bring my spouse to try here. I haven't brought him yet.

Went here for Valentine's Day. $175 per person for a prefixed menu 4 course meal. I haven't been here for the full menu to choose from but when I went it just felt like a money grab. The 4 course meal in total came out to $400. It included a small appetizer that you had to share, a small soup that they gave both, a salad that we had to share "wasn't exactly to my liking ", a main course you could choose from 3 different dishes which was short ribs, roasted chicken and scallops. Then desert which you also shared... I get it's a fine dining restaurant and I've been to different restaurants before like Morton's, Firehouse, the Kitchen, even Ruth's Chris which I try to avoid because the quality over the years has gone down significantly. I can honestly say I didn't really quite enjoy the food. I've never spent that much and feel cheated. If I'm spending $400 on food for two and I have to share a small 2 piece appetizer with a main course that just has mash potatoes, artichokes and roasted chicken on top then I would have just stayed home. Nothing really stood out to where I was like wow, this is really good. Not only that but the service took hellaaaa long. How you gonna have a prefixed menu and still have a long ass wait in between courses? We were there for 3 hours, waiting outside for 30minutes to be seated and still waiting between courses for a duration of 2 hours. Not only that but they brought out the wrong food for my girl and she ended up having to wait for hers so we ended up sharing my plate cause we were both hungry from the small portions and the waiting and by the time her correct order came out we already finished my main course. It was just an unpleasant experience. Not to mention the table next to us said we missed the picture taking. They showed us a framed picture. Well we couldn't do that cause we were still waiting outside to be seated for our RESERVED table that I paid for in advance... so only half the people inside got their pictures taken I'm assuming cause there was a lot of us waiting outside. All in all, way overpriced for what it was. I'd have just gone to Ruth's Chris and get 2 fat tomahawk steaks and actually be full. You can either due quality or quantity. If you're not gonna give me quantity at least let it be higher quality dishes. We ended up eating again somewhere else cause it wasn't enough. But seriously, it was very lazy and non creative for the dishes they served. No steak for that cost is just crazy to me. Oh and the 10grams of truffle shavings that they make you pay for, which was $45 didn't look like a full 10 grams of truffle shavings, it looked more like 5 grams.

Came here on a Saturday night. Made reservations about a week in advance. PARKING: street parking is tricky in the Old Sac area especially by this place. There are a couple of parking lots nearby. Do plan accordingly. INTERIOR: very stunning, upscale decor. Tastefully done. This place is appropriate for a date night or special occasion. You will impress who ever you bring here! Also - people do come here dressed to impress, so do keep that in mind! AMBIANCE: Live saxophone player was a real delight! He was so energetic and fun! Some people got up and danced. There was a photographer that was taking photos of each table. She returned with them framed for sale, which we thought was a bit tacky. Either give a complimentary photo as memorabilia like other upscale steakhouses do, otherwise don't interrupt us for photos and sales like you would experience at an amusement park. $25 is what we overheard the price for 1 picture in a plastic frame was! DINING: the salad were fresh, wines listed paired well with entrees, charcuterie board contents were all well chosen. The cheese was creamy and sweet. For main courses we picked halibut (a bit fishy tasting/smelling), steak (exceptional here!), and corn risotto (amazing!). They were very considerate of my dietary restrictions and were able to make the dish vegetarian (and can make it vegan too!) PLEASE GET DESSERT AND COFFEE HERE! The Armenian coffee is so creamy and some of the best I've ever had here! We enjoyed every bite of the honey cake and ice cream. Service was attentive and welcoming. We really enjoyed this unique experience; this restaurant is truly one of a kind! :)

V's Paradise is an Armenian owed restaurant located in Old Sac. Now don't let the surrounding Old Sac charm deceive you on the type of decor and ambiance inside. It is far from that and is truly stunning and elegant all throughout. Perfect spot for a date night or perhaps, a night to have a jaw dropping meal experience. Ours was the carousel drink. :) Lots of ooh's and ah's. We came here for my sister's birthday and were treated so kindly. The host, server (Ronshell), and GM were very attentive providing amazing hospitality from start to finish. We ordered a lot because YOLO. Ahhahahaha. The Carousel 8/10 - Jaw dropping, strong, pricy Armenian Caesar 8/10 - Deliciously familiar yet still unique with Armenian flavors Confit Chicken Wings 6/10 - Nothing diff than wings from BWW Tomatoes & Burrata 7/10 - Choice of bread should have been a crusty one and burrata is not for everyone Wagyu Short Rib 9/10 - Magnificently flavorful & tender. Choice of cut can make or break your meal experience. Roasted Corn Risotto (sub lobster for chicken) 10/10 - Looked as if it had been sitting under the heating lamps awhile but the taste absolutely made up for it Pacific Halibut 10/10 - Perfectly tender and fresh Affogato 8/10 - Great wake up dessert and coffee wasn't too bitter Grandma's Honey Cake 5/10 - We couldn't get over the look of this being stacked toast despite it being cake. Flavor was meh Fine dining is definitely the vibe and experience you'll get here. You'll catch live entertainment Friday's and Saturday's. We came on a Sunday so no live music but they had a good playlist going. Due to the seasonal menu this time I was limited on what I truly would enjoy eating. I don't do seafood and eating red meat isn't my preferred protein, hence subbing for chicken in the risotto. As much as I loved my meal I don't think I'll be coming back. However, it is a place I'd recommend to others for the fine dining experience.

I remember from the video they said this was considered a "bartenders bar",the kind of spot that that bartenders and workers in the industry would hangout after their shifts-I liked the sound of that. Walking up to where I thought the bar was located,it was kinda funny because it was just an innocent looking blue door with the words "Cocktail" along the side-doesn't look like much at all,I'd imagine I've walked by this place many times without thinking of ever going in-that was changing this time. When I walked in I 100% knew I was stumbling upon something special-it was a tiny place but it was overflowing with energy, not many booths in this bar and it may be the smallest bar I've ever been to but it felt special.Looking at the clientele I felt like I was with my people,it was so cool in there. This is the kind of place I would take my wife and any of my friends before a special night out and be it a dinner or a concert or a production at Safe Performing Arts Center and feel like it would set the right vibe for the night. Looking over the menu, they had some very interesting looking drinks, the wife went with a French 75($12.00)and I went with a Pecan Brown Sugar Old Fashioned($16.00)The bartenders are very friendly and super personable and really took their time and took pride in their drinks-I had never had an Old Fashioned quite like that one,but it went down super smooth-I loved i-I look forward to going there again asap. A coupe of things about this bar-they do only have 1 unisex bathroom,it was very clean. Also this place is so old school that they are a "Cash-Only " bar. They do have an atm in the bar in case you forget your cash. They have a big fish tank behind the bar that really put the room together nicely-I liked it a lot. In closing,if you ever find yourself in the Ice Blocks part of midtown and want to experience an awesome bar that feels very unique-head on down to Frank and have a drink or two-you won't regret it-I think I may have found my new favorite bar in all of Sacramento. PS-I loved talking to the bartender telling me how they don't carry Don Julio but have many varieties of Fortaleza instead-a true IYKYK moment if there ever was one-this place rocks.

The menu out front (which drew us in) was NOT posted anywhere inside. So naturally, we ask about the pricing and what was applicable. That's when bartender's eyes roll and she dishes out snarky responses that insult our intelligence. Yes, lady--we can read, and I hope your boss can too, because you were an embarrassment to the establishment! We didn't ask for the teenage insecurity and projection...we only wanted a drink. Well we got the drink and the flavor was meh. We didn't even tip. Big tab...0 dollar tip. Most likely won't be back. If you're a bartender...be courteous and stay off your fxkin laptop/phone. Understand that customers don't deserve to be the punching bag

I had been to Bawk before but little did I know about the hidden space behind it. You do need to make reservations, which I did not do. Instead I got on a list until there was a space, close to midnight and way past my bedtime, to discover this hidden gem. Once your reservation time comes up, you are escorted to a booth or bar area and given a menu. We had welcome drinks upon arrival and could choose from a cocktail list. Drinks average about $20 each, so be prepared to spend some cash. You should definitely experience this at least once! Great spot for date night or a fun girls night out.

The space is small and intimate with serious speakeasy vibes that remind me of some of the cocktail bars in San Francisco. The drink presentations are gorgeous, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into both the flavor and how everything looks when it arrives at the table. They have a great selection of gin, rum, champagne, and whiskey, and I often lean on the staff for drink suggestions because they're really good at recommending something you might not normally order. A few times now they've pointed me toward a drink that ended up being a hidden gem. I've been here a few times and it's always a great time whether you're catching up with friends or doing a date night. The food is also surprisingly good and pairs well with the cocktails. It is definitely on the pricier side, but that's part of the experience. Also, because the space is small and intimate, reservations fill up quickly and they do require a deposit, which goes toward your final bill. Helpful tip: make a reservation ahead of time and don't be afraid to ask the staff for drink recommendations -- they're excellent at guiding you to something special. Final verdict: absolutely worth it.

The restaurant is quite small inside with very limited seating, but the outdoor patio is beautiful. Be ready to likely sit outside, but enjoy the atmosphere. We started with the mezcal old fashioned and the cucumber jalapeño margarita. The mezcal old fashioned was a delicious smoky twist on the classic cocktail. The cucumber jalapeño margarita was refreshing, though a little sweeter than I expected and missing the spicy kick I was hoping for. The guacamole was fresh and tasty, but the portion was quite small and barely enough for two people in my opinion. The salsa was also small but it was absolutely phenomenal. The chicken tacos were excellent, with tender chicken that was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. The enmoladas were also fantastic and are a great way to sample Oaxaca's three unique mole sauces, each with its own distinct character. One thing to note is that the chicken filling is intentionally prepared very simply in traditional Oaxacan cuisine so that the mole remains the star of the dish. If you prefer heavily seasoned meat, this dish may be milder than what you are used to. Overall, everything we tried was delicious and offered a wonderful taste of authentic Oaxacan flavors. Our meal for two included one cocktail each, chips and guacamole, three chicken tacos, and three enmoladas, and came to about $100 with tip.

When we walked in I knew I was in the perfect spot-this bar has those low lights that all the bars in the 70s and 80s had-giving off a both romantic and mysterious vibe to it-I was in love with the place from that moment on. The music that day was awesome-I heard they have live music at times but at the time of my visit they did not-they were instead playing 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip Hop-it was wonderful-one banger after another-so yeah I was vibing. Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.
