Average experience at a pretty pricey hotel. Lobby was fresh and modern, but our room was tired, the air conditioner was noisy, and the room had a weird chemical smell that never really dissipated. The sheets too had a strange smell. The bathroom was nice though. Shower and tub were separate, and clean and bright. Valet parking was $36, which is a bit extreme even for Miami. No self-parking option. Also, we had a weird knock on our door at 3 AM. We called the front desk, and they sent someone to check right away, and they didn't find anything, but it's still a bit scary. A few streets over from the InterCon is the Overtown section of Miami, which is the most dangerous part of the city. If you stay here, please take note. Will probably look at South Beach hotels more closely next time. read more

First, we love to stay at Intercontinental Hotels, only place we stay. This place amazingly nice with great views and amenities. Second, I will never stay at this location again. I booked my room online as always and check-in when I arrive like normal. I'm here for my birthday and had extra money set aside to eat and travel the city. Apparently, this location charges $100 a night extra hold on your card which resulted in my bank account being drained. Now I have $4.00 in my bank for he next two days and also have to figure out how to pay for gas to get home. Thanks for the heads up of NOT being like the other locations, it really made my vacation so much better. read more

Top notch hotel and resort. The on-site restaurant, Toro Toro is not cheap, but the food is amazing. Our Service Specialist, Yassine, did an excellent job for us. Thank you for making our night spectacular. James at the poolside bar was a real pleasure to chat with and provided tasty refreshments and excellent food for Lunch as well. We've not been disappointed with any experience here! read more

I thought the hotel for me was nice and clean. I had a nice view. The staff was cordial and I can't think off any thing I I didn't like So bottom line I would go back with no reservations no pun intended. read more

I love this Hotel. I spent most of my time in the Spa, and the Club InterContinental® Lounge on the 29th floor. The pool and patio is equipped with an outdoor grill where you can order food and drink after a dive. The hotel staff was very friendly and informative about places to go in town. If your planning a trip to Miami, do your self a favor and book a room at the InterContinental. read more

Hotel is very nice, room is clean and well appointed, bathroom is very large, and wifi worked perfectly. Best part of hotel is having a spa on-site. Had the best facial by esthetician Vanessa. She is very passionate about providing great customer service and effective facial for her clients. Will go back to the hotel just for the spa facial. read more

My stay started with some clown honking at me in the valet line. Apparently he was't impressed with my Rental car, a Chevy Spark. Guess what neither was I but you were in line BEHIND me so enjoy the view. The valet was sincere in his apologies for the clown. The front desk personnel were pleasant even though my reservation was through a third party. My only complaint is I could not get the room temperature to change. It was 25 degrees C which is 77 degrees F. That's a little too hot for me and the reason for three stars. Oh, and it's also my opinion that the beds are very firm. If that's your preference you will be very comfortable. read more

Beatiful entrance. Great valet. Horrible breakfeast. Broken elevators. Poor house cleaning. Bad Wi-Fi. For this price point....I would stay somewhere else read more

During my stay at the Intercontinental Hotel, I experienced extremely loud drilling and construction noises throughout my stay. To my disappointment, I found out that the elevator shafts were undergoing construction as a result, the vibrations could be heard all the way up to my floor--the 16th floor. I tape recorded the noise and will try to upload it to Youtube, as proof. If you are traveling in July, beware and I suggest staying at the Four Seasons instead! The Intercontinental hotel is NOT in 4 star condition right now....don't waste your money like I did. Since, I booked the hoteI online, I called Expedia and asked for a refund, and they flatly refused, instead offering me a $50 gift certificate for my next stay with Expedia. That hotel cost me $225.00 per night!!!! The reason Expedia gave for not giving me a refund, is that the hotel itself, refused to refund me on the grounds that they "tried their best" to change my room and that should be enough. I spoke with one of the hotel employees and he admitted that the hotel was under construction and that over 200 guests had complained of the noise and requested a room change during that week alone. So, the hotel is well aware that customers aren't happy, and yet, they basically ignore it and sit back and make money off of unsuspecting customers. Oh wait--the manager did offer me a pair of earplugs and a couple of Starbucks vouchers as well, to placate me. That's 4 star world class service? I spent over 4 hours of my time on the phone with Expedia and Intercontinental, trying to get a refund and they in turn contacted the hotel, and after all that time, they only offered to comp me $50 for my troubles. $50.00 on a bill of about $500! Other things to be aware of when you book the Intercontinental Hotel: the hotel has almost no water pressure in the bathroom. The elevators take forever--you will likely be waiting for 10+ minutes each time you try to use the elevator, particularly on the weekend. Early check fee is $100 and starts at 5am, so if you want to check in early, expect to pay a fee for that. Now I am going to be taking them to court over this issue. I will not back down. Take my advice, find a different hotel and find a different company to book your hotels--Expedia doesn't care about customers at all and Intercontinental doesn't operate like the 4 star hotel they claim to be. They just want your money and do not genuinely care if visitors are happy with their stay, at the end of the day. read more

Great view of bay. We can see cruise ships arriving and departing from the window of our room. The hotel is high price but very lush and comfortable. There are three places to eat. The pool bar up stairs has a good view but mediocre food. The ole breakfast buffet is standard egg and bacons but with a hefty $26 charge. Toro toro has a taco bar during the day that is amazing but the same price as breakfast with all you can drink beer. read more

Amazing! This is my kind of hotel. So much better than I expected. Great location too - very short walking distance to Bayside. read more

From our huge joining rooms to the spectacular view of the water and Pitbull's Rocking NYE celebration this was the place to spend December 30th and 31st. Close to midnight our nanny brought our kids downstairs as the raised the Orange up the side of the InterContinental to ring in the New Year. Don't forget all that's included in your resort fees. When we shared this info with dozens of friends staying there too they had no clue. The cafe on the pool level is yummy and provides quick service. The spa is amazing.. ToroToro in the lobby is good day or night (even late night and we were excited there was a Starbucks open til midnight in the lobby. read more

We enjoyed our recent stay at the hotel. But want to give a great review to our server at Ole restaurant. Tinsley was very friendly, attentive and accommodating! She has a contagious, cheerful attitude and a great smile to go along with it! read more

InterContinental was perfect for our super last minute trip to Miami, we traveled with our 5 year old and although there was nothing really for him to do (no kiddie pool on site or park) the staff made sure they made him feel as comfortable as they could, they even sent us cookies & milk up to the room (highlight of his trip). easy access and walking distance to everything. we look forward to going back soon. read more

I was here for 4 days and 3 nights on a business trip. The hotel is attractive, it has a light display on the front and is similar to a marquis and shows a person's silhouette dancing from time to time. When you walk in, the lobby is very impressive - there are two restaurants, Toro Toro and Ole there, with a concierge and guest services on the left. The only problem was that the hotel lobby was extremely cold - the AC was always on. The rooms were very impressive - we had an amazing view of the city, but the problem was we couldn't open our window and the room smelled pretty bad. You are given two water bottles per day from room service. The pool was awesome, features a jogging track for everyone and a bar/restaurant for people looking for a quick bite or drink. The spa was amazing - gym was great and offers multiple amenities like relaxation chamber, sauna, and steam room. It is a 10 minute drive away from South Beach scene. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel. When we arrived to check in, we were greeted with the pleasant news that we received a complimentary upgrade. Only when we arrived to the 33rd floor did we realize we had been upgraded to the Royal Palm Suite, the most beautiful, luxurious, two-story suite with sweeping views of the Bay and South Beach. I'm still not sure why the hotel was so generous with us, but my fiance and I will forever remember the absolutely amazing and memorable time we had at the InterContinental this past weekend. We have agreed that they have won our business every time we are in Miami in the future. Not to mention, they have an absolutely top notch restaurant (ToroToro) that serves some of the most flavorful tapas/small plates. Highly, highly recommended. read more

I stayed here for a conference and was disgusted by the cleanliness of the room. I arrived late and quickly left so I didn't notice that there was dried urine all over the back of the toilet until late that night. Returned to the room after the full day conference the following day and the urine was still there, I stepped on a couple of large pieces of plastic on the ground/earrings not belonging to me so a vacuum couldn't have gone through, and the baseboards were still covered in dust... but the bed was made. Very gross. I don't understand how this hotel has any good reviews. I will never stay at this hotel chain again. read more

This place needs updating. I have been staying here for 10 years but other close hotels have leapfrogged it. Nice fitness center and pool deck (limited seating), but rooms have seen their day. read more

Very great hotel. Closet to the port if you have a cruise to catch.

The hotel charges for many things....$100 for early check in which is usually waived at other hotels. No free wifi which was expected. Charges $15 for gym access even if you are a guest at the hotel. Most ridiculous part was that there is a $1 per luggage check fee which is usually complimentary for hotel guests. Attitude of staffs vary, which is why I would only give it a 2 star because there should be a set standard for customer service at the Intercontinental Hotel Group. Disappointing. read more

Second time staying here and I was lucky enough to get helped by Lili when I was checking in. She made sure I got checked in quickly and she even helped me print out my tickets to the Heat game since I was running behind. The rooms are great and very spacious, and they have a great work space area for those travelling on business. On top of the fact that you are located right in Downtown it's a great place to stay for anyone here on business. read more

I'd probably rate this hotel more like a 3.5 star. The check in process was okay, person checking me in was not very friendly. I was at this place for a conference. I had a few hours to kill, so I decided I would take advantage of some pool time, only to find that there was no one at the pool and the one glass of wine I ordered was $18.00. The good thing about this place is that it's within walking distance to some great restaurants, like Chop House, and shopping area. --- If you are in Miami for the first time, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I see this hotel more as a Business type hotel. The room was nice, bed was comfortable, but the internet connection was horrible and it cost over 17.00 a day. So with that said you are better off at a hotel that offers a better pool, and at least better internet service. read more

Very nice hotel Horrible water pressure would not stay here again for that reason. Nice rooms, good location great view of city. Many restaurants in walking distance. Up charge for, parking, Internet, gym and to store bags. No like this stupid petty stuff but it's better than a stupid resort fee. I did not use any of the above so I was not charged like that better. Free water when you check in. Nice. Came here to stay before cruise. Seems like a business hotel weird walking around in shorts when everyone else is dressed in business attire. Eat breakfast first day at hotel. Skipped $25 buffet thinking I was saving money but after a $4 cup of coffee, $5 side of fruit and a $ 15 egg, I should have gotten buffet. Starbucks in lobby, awesome. Keurig in room is not enough for this coffee loving girl. TIPS Larry's limo Town car was inexpensive(compared to taxi cabs) and amazing service. We took from airport to hotel and to cruise line. Great restaurant for dinner with in walking distance, Trulucks, expensive but so worth it. Get the crab, amazing. Great restaurant for breakfast within walking distance Sedici cafe grill. It was under $10 for latte, omelet with croissant, sold. Do NOT TAKE TOUR WITH MIAMI TOUR COMPANY HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. read more

Had a great event there. The place was open and nice. The servers were attentive and courteous as well. There was a downstairs bar that we went to after the event. Good service and good drinks. It was out wedding day and everyone at the hotel made sure we had a wonderful stay. From making sure we had a room to get ready (while early check-in is not guaranteed), to just making us feel welcome and happy at all times. Every thing we needed from the reception, we had in just a matter of minutes, Pier (from front desk) was excellent, they even send us a Wine Bottle & Desserts as a wedding gift! We also had drinks and brunch at Toro Toro and were waited by Isabel both time. She was so very nice and attentive! I have to say our entire stay was very pleasant. We choice this hotel because we had eaten at Toro Toro before and liked the location - right on the bay once you walk out of the hotel, the ambiance and the looks. The room was very nice, clean and spacious. Overall a wonderful stay! read more

This stay was interesting. The room is great with a great view. The layout was excellent. The staff were courteous and polite. The room servicing and turndown service was excellent. However, the sink in the room did not drain quickly when used. The elevator certificates displayed were 8 months out of date. The bar, lounge and Starbucks had constant incessant noise for music which was loud and inhibited conversation with other guests unless you were prepared to shout. Since I was there for a conference, the AM breakfast was generally cold for hot items, and the coffee was not great. When I asked for a specific port that was on the bar menu, the barman, did his best to serve Madeira, and stated that none of the four ports on the menu were available. At night the hotel has a very nice LED display on the outside of the hotel, however while the LED's project from the guest room windows, unless you have the heavy blinds down, the flickering of the LEDs can be disturbing after your eye accommodate to the darkness.. read more

I had always anticipated equal or better quality to standard Hilton/Marriott from the Intercontinental chain. This ghetto-hotel has set me straight. 1. The staff generally couldn't care less about customer service. The protocol for dealing with legitimate customer issues is to ignore-and-hope-it-go-away. 2. The room cleaning service was a joke: entire table services left uncleaned, missing towels, layers of dust, complementary toiletries not replaced, cushions and bed covers left on the floor. There was a special surprise everyday on our 6 night stay. Room safe was locked closed on arrival. 3. They ignored a request for a king bed and baby crib made over a six weeks in advance. 4. The hotel is misrepresented on the website as having a minibar (essential for keeping baby's food cold, and a prerequisite for selecting a hotel) in each room. Apparently, the "newly renovated" (read: tacky dated nineties low-ceiling) rooms have no minibar yet and the non-renovated (read: possibly tackier eighties low-ceiling) do. It took escalation to the manager and much arguing to finally get a fridge in the room. The location is convenient for staying downtown, and the updated bathrooms with dual-head shower (but, unfortunately, low water pressure) are the best feature. Avoid until these folks attain some semblance of professionalism. read more

It's way over rated, over priced and designed in a very cold impersonal way and the rooms are just average. If it were not for the location I would give it 2 stars. I looks great coming in but its not cozy where you come down to the lobby and get on line and want to socialize. Its just a beautiful space in an incredible spot! read more

We were pleasantly surprised by this beautiful property. The staff from the bell service to front desk to the concierge have all been extremely attentive and friendly. I stayed for one night at this "prestigious" hotel, left the next for an all day outing with my family. When returning to retrieve my personal belongings and stay in a nearby hotel I come to find my money was missing. The worse part about it was these thieves did not only steal 5,000 dollars from me but went into my son's super hero wallet and took money from him as well. I was questioned by the hotel & security management in why I did not use their safe/lock box and tried to imply if perhaps one of my family members had gone into my travel purse. Besides that I was informed they do NOT have cameras in the hallways due to customer privacy, only cameras are in their elevators and lobby which is USELESS. Despite what they hotel states this HAS happened before. read more

Excellent location and service; staff is ever helpful and humorous. The rooms are a bit worn and dated and it lacks some luster and control over AC temperature, tv channels freeze a lot, but service makes up for most of these shortcomings. Special mention to Bell person M. Rodriguez who humorously answered some departing logistics questions. Would similarly thank front desk and concierges for their engaging personalities. read more

Overly expensive for a subpar room. Uncomfortable bed and scratchy sheets. Also had drinks by the pool 14$ for a glass of white wine. And 140$ for buffet breakfast for 4. That's ridiculous and a 18% service charge for the waiter who didn't bring us coffee till we were done eating. I will also mention while at pool bar they also add 18% tip and didn't mention when we also left 20%. Shady. read more

Intercontinental is a great hotel in downtown Miami! For business or pleasure it's always the best place to stay. Thanks staff

One of the nicer hotels I have been to, Lobby was stunning. The accommodations were about the same as others have been to. Pretty standard pay for parking per night, internet is not free and so on. There is a Starbucks in the lobby if that is your thing. Stunning views from the pool and from our room. read more

We travel a lot and are very picky with our lodging- this place had it all. Fantastic location. Gorgeous, clean, modern rooms (ours was 28 floor overlooking cruise ships!). Amazing staff. Could not be happier with this hotel. Great waterfront shops and restaurants nearby and the had a food truck congregation on the Sat night- it was a big party. Since it was Christmas, there was also a procession of lit up boats in the water- very neat! And it all ended with a display of fireworks too. Highly recommend this hotel. Next time we are in Miami, I will definitely stay there. This is a great location for pre and post cruisers. read more
