Elegance all over. Halloween Weekend pre-cruise stay & it totally exceeded my expectations when it comes to everything fun. Beautiful lobby, beautiful room, excellent bar. Customer service was amazing when I checked in. I can't remember the guys name who checked me in ( Mahnila ) something like that but he gave me the best customer service. Great stay & can't wait to stay here again. read more

Me and the wife had a amazing time here and the entire staff from the valets to the Fed Ex guy who was so COOL , I can't think of any other hotel I would have stayed at that treated us like real people on their first visit to Miami. I definitely would recommend the Intercontinental Miami to all my family and friends coming to Miami. Congratulations to the management for making the staff enjoy their jobs and making guests happy to have stayed and most definitely want to return every visit to Miami. read more

Great view if you get a room facing the water. We arrived for a conference early on Monday but our room wasn't ready. For $25 we were able to upgrade our room to one with a beautiful view and get in early. The hotel is right on the water and you can see cruise ships come and go. The sunrise is worth the extra expense if you like to get up that early. I was able to walk to shops and dining nearby. The streets are a bit run down and dirty, but I guess that's big city living. Wear you walking shoes. It was extremely windy during our stay, which made it difficult to enjoy the pool area. I ate at the Bluewater poolside while waiting for the wind to die down. It never did. Surely, this isn't the norm. I won't hold that against them. More about the room... Our room had an amazing ledge that I could sit on while gazing out of the window. There's an electric panel by the bed that controlled the curtains (now that made me feel spoiled). The desk was good for working and spreading out a lot of paperwork. There were many outlets available. The bathroom was large and included a hefty sized tub with a cool dual headed shower. The water pressure was nice, but the water was only warm on the hottest setting. This should not be the case in any hotel. There was a single sink but enough counter space around it to load it with beauty products :) in case that's what you need. They offer a wide array of things you may need tucked inside a jar that I didn't even notice until I was searching for a tissue. It was in plain site, of course. There were cotton swabs, cotton rounds, a shower cap and ponytail holder (not one you'd want to wear out), sanitary bag, nail file and cuticle pusher, and a small cotton towel. I was impressed with what that had tucked in there. Now about the bed... The first thing I noticed when we walked into the room was a burn mark on the blanket and some tattering of the sheets. I lived with it because I was grateful for the fantastic view. Looking back, it is unacceptable and an easy fix. Honestly, if the housekeeping crew simply folded the blanket the other way, I never would have noticed. I bring my own pillow everywhere because I don't rely on hotels providing such a personal preference. I do expect a somewhat comfortable bed. The bed provided was very uncomfortable. It must have some age, evidenced by the dips in the mattress. They should consider replacing them soon. I'm really torn on how to rate this hotel. I feel like the location, view and amenities make it a 5 star experience, while the basics- hot water, clean bedding, and a comfortable bed make it comparable to a roadside motel with 2 stars. I suppose it's what each customer values most. I feel like the Intercontinental should be able to make some adjustments to deserve 5 stars, but for now they earn 3.4999999999999. I'm graciously rounding up to 4. read more

The pool and the spa were awesome, I spent my afternoon with the hotel, just relaxing and enjoying it. The hotel is very nice. It has a big room with ocean view and a huge bath room with both shower and bath tub. Lovely. The location is good in downtown, about 12 minutes drive to Miami Beach. Haven't checked out the pool and spa. Gonna update the review afterwards. read more

One of our favorite brands to stay at when out of town. You know what to expect and they deliver every time.

Traveled here to go on NCL cruise. The airport is average. Not to hard to navigate through the terminals. Security is tight. Takes a little while to get your luggage from the plane. Restrooms could use some extra work. Airport could use some updates. Hard to find a great breakfast. read more

Ok, so I'll admit that this is a very nice hotel - if you can overlook the obscene prices for the breakfast buffet ($80 for just food and NO fun drinks). We arrived around 8AM, right after disembarking our cruise, while still hungovr from the night before. We got checked in quickly (after paying the extra $100 for early checking) and made our way upstairs to drop our bags before going to eat at their over priced buffet (see review for Ole). We ate quickly and retired to our room to catch up on sleep. Our room was very nice; complete with blackout blinds to help us with sleeping in the middle of the day. Beyond that we really can't say much else since we literally didn't leave our rooms after having breakfast. A nice hotel, but we might chose to stay elsewhere next time. :) read more

The hotel is beautiful. That is why I am giving this two stars. The experience has been problematic since check-in, one thing after another. After researching our options, taking notes (which I shared with the staff here), I find myself frustrated for choosing an expensive hotel in order to buy this experience to commemorate a special occasion - but not getting what I planned. I rented two rooms. One King with a pull out sofa, and an adjoining room with two doubles. My wife and I to share our room with our two daughters because my brother would share the room with my two boys. My reservation for the king room shows two adults and two kids - yet, when I get to the room, there is no pull-out, despite confirming with Brandy. We are told that whomever we received our information from was incorrect and then proceeds to try to sell us a townhouse suite that we had to pay the difference for - which is not an option. We ended up with one daughter on a cot, and the other sleeping on the chair because I am not having her sleep with the boys. This is not what you pay for at a hotel of this level. We then went to Toro Toro where we had reservations, the hotel restaurant. The waitress was amazing - however, she sold us a 42 oz porterhouse steak. We ordered it. 10 minutes later she returns to tell us that she is out of the porterhouse and we need to order something else. I ordered the picanha medium rare. I've had picanha dozens of times - it was sliced for me - there five slices of this that I could not chew enough to eat. Not wanting to complain about another issue - I did try to eat it. But, I had to discard them after my jaw was sore from trying to chew it. We researched hotel restaurants and decided to stay at The Intercontinental instead of the Four Seasons, despite the special the Four Seasons had because Ole at Intercontinental offered a booking with two complimentary breakfasts per day per room. Upon verifying, we were also told that children under 12 eat free. I want to be clear - I gave the ages for each child to the phone representative. At check-in, however, I noticed that my reservation email shows that each room had "one" meal voucher for breakfast. Brandy confirmed it was for two, but says the kids eat free. There is no mistaking how old my kids are, we were all standing at her desk. We go for breakfast and find out that we have to pay for the three kids because they are not under "FIVE". The problem is not the money we had to spend, it is the number of times we were simply given misinformation. We are attending a convention that will consume each day of our stay, so we planned an extra day ahead of the convention to enjoy the hotel and it's amenities, making this a four night stay instead of 3. So, imagine my surprise on the fourth of July when I take all the kids to the pool only to be turned away because the pool is closed! Probably the biggest disappointment so far. And again - the communication - I literally just called down to guest services to ask if there were towels poolside - this was affirmed with no mention of the pool being closed. This is absurd. None of this information was offered to me. The details I needed, I had to specifically ask for - but I'm not sure why because the information I was given was incorrect, and it isn't the hotel's problem. When it was the HOTEL giving me wrong information - such as Brandy - then the problem was that Brandy is new. Again - the hotel is beautiful, the restaurants are nice, and the staff are kind. But if I wanted to have one kid on a cot and the other on a chair to sleep, with no pool available to use, I would have stayed at a much less expensive hotel - especially considering I need two rooms. Also, to be fair, the manager offered a nightly discount and a free dessert - and I appreciate the gesture; but this is not about money. I think my willingness to rent two rooms at The Intercontinental for my family's stay speaks to that - we specifically searched out and paid for an experience that is not being fulfilled, and we're only on our second day. read more

Arrived at check in at 430 PM and rooms not ready. Lobby a bit warm and humid. Not long line to check in but it still took a long time. Maybe even as long as my stay. Stunning lobby with cool fountain and plenty of seating. Starbucks and FedEx store right in lobby. Gift shop with narrow hours and fewer items in stock than you might expect for such an impressive location. Business center puny. Rooms were nice, roomy and ours had a nice view. 1.5 Every night, whilst looking at the InterContinental Miami, you can see the silhouette of a woman busting out pole dancing moves on the side of the building. Yes, that's right: a 50-foot booty-shaking woman adorns the north-facing side of Downtown Miami's most well-placed hotel. That sort of says it all. Ay Dios Mio. Okay, I needed a place to stay for a couple of days after I moved out of my apartment and before I moved out of the city (fo-evah!). As the view from my bedroom window reminded me (my Downtown apartment faced south), the ICM was close, near the train line and would be an easy stay to transition out of the city. I made the reservation, lumbered down Biscayne with a bunch of bags, entered the lobby (as I had so many times before) to the familiar oontz-oontz beat, checked in (with nary a smile from the clerk) and made my way up to my king suite. I believe it was on the 13th floor. Si. Claro. I opened the door and... nice. Big room. Raised window seat. L-shaped desk. Dining table. Large butler pantry. Modern bathroom. King-sized bed. Awesome. Eager to shower and get the grit of a hot, late summer Miami day off of me, I stripped down, made my way to the shower, turned it on, got in... and saw... kid's shampoo? The f...? I looked around and discovered a shower puff, opened shower gel... AND SOAP WITH LONG HAIR ON IT. The shower hadn't been cleaned. The room hadn't been cleaned. I WAS NAKED IN A SHOWER THAT HADN'T BEEN CLEANED!!!1!!!1 If you know *any*thing about me, you can guess where this is going. I leapt out out the shower, onto my tip toes, struggling so as little of my exposed skin touched the, obviously, contaminated room. I couldn't even use the towels for fear they were soiled too. I mean, if the shower wasn't cleaned how could the towels be safe? I called the front desk and I was livid. I was paying too much for this room for such an offense. But, this is Miami. I should have known better than to expect the minimum. A clean room at a starred hotel is the freaking minimum. Rather than meeting me in a new room, I had to go downstairs, wet, disheveled and irate to go over what just happened in my room, go back up to my room, move my own stuff, and head into a different king suite. My apology from the hotel: a bottle of sparkling... water, not wine... and a cheese plate. I kid you not. I didn't so much as touch it. I let it rot in the butler pantry. Miami. For the duration of my stay, the wifi was slow, the walls were thin and I couldn't get the filth of my initial experience out of my head. The only thing I could think of was how eager I was to be leaving and how right I was to be moving. Again, all the elements were/are there for a superior experience but, in typical Miami fashion, absolutely no ----s are given. Good riddance. read more

For a mere $101 per night (thank you once again, Priceline!), what's not to love? Upon checking in I kindly asked the front desk attendant if I might be placed in a room on a high floor with a view of the bay. He searched away on his computer and eventually found me a room on the 17th floor with an expansive window overlooking the bay. The room was spacious (all told, it would give my New York flat a run for its square footage) and had a separate tub (which sadly I never had time to use) and shower. The lobby has plenty of seating and we used it several times as a work area. As well, the business center folks were friendly and didn't charge us to print out our guest lists. Both The Standard and The Raleigh hotels could learn lessons from the accommodating staff at the Intercontinental. What this hotel lacks in cool factor it more than makes up for with graciousness. read more

I like the InterCon! Great location, great rates. Short visit on business. Super nice desk clerks when I checked in and out. The room was fine. I appreciated that the bed had a light blanket rather than a duvet more appropriate for a Norwegian winter. Didn't have to keep the a/c on full blast. The a/c was quiet and the bathroom was spacious. Never got the chance to use the pool or gym or eat in the restaurant. Starbucks off the lobby was handy and quick. There are newer fancier and more expensive hotels in downtown Miami. The Intercon is great hotel for the price. One suggestion for the management: The desk had lovely chair with plush upholstery. Looked good but it didn't work very well if you actually want to use the desk. That's why they invented desk chairs. And a suggestion for guests: Il Gabbiano Restaurant is only a block away. Don't miss it. read more

Toro Toro was VERY good. My partner decided to take me to this steakhouse for a pre-birthday dinner. We were visiting from out of town and this place came recommended. My belly is full and I am NOT disappointed. The price points are decent (as you'd expect for Miami) but I was very satisfied and everything we had (we had the shareable dinner) was delicious. My dessert was wonderful too. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Smiles all around. Our waiter, Edgar Gomez was fabulous and kind. Definitely recommend him and this restaurant to anyone. The vibe here is upscale steakhouse but everyone wears casual clothes and the DJ plays great music. Love it! read more

I really enjoyed my stay. It's a beautiful hotel, the view from my room was amazing and the location of the hotel was really accessible to all all the places I needed to be. Tge service was friendly. The double shower head was a plus, I do love my showers. Torotoro, so good... but thats a separate review. That said, I have a few issues, regarding cleanliness. first of all, I get that it's my room my sheets and they don't need to be washed everyday, but, I shouldn't find them stained on my first day.. not at a 4 star hotel. Second, is the coffee complementary or is it $19 that part was confusing. that said, even if it's free that coffee maker is disgustingly dirty and I wouldn't feel safe making anything out it. There's nothing complimentary at the intercontinental.. except the WiFi, so if you're looking for all inclusive this ain't it, but it's an amazing hotel and still worth it. read more

Marco was absolutely incredible. Great service, amazing food. We had an amazing time for my bachelor's trip.

I stayed here for a conference that was being held at the hotel, so it was convenient. If I had to do it all over again I'd look for alternatives. It has nice common areas, decent but dated rooms and the worst shower curtain/rod configuration possible. The room decor felt like some odd blend of Golden Girls and Arsenio Hall. The work space was poor, with a low set chair that would be better suited in the restaurant than under the desk. And the shower curtain was ridiculous. Whoever conceived the idea of doing a curved, flat shower rod with the short shower curtain hooks is a genius. It took me like 45 seconds to get the thing in place because the friction of moving the curtain was pulling the hooks out of the curtain holes. Just a comedy of errors that is so needlessly stupid it's frustrating. Room service was good and friendly. On a random note, they have little salt and pepper grinders that you get w/ your meal (see picture). Nice little touch. And, if you're looking for some casual / quick eats in the area, I recommend checking the reviews of JD N: http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=9VJa4yxtnLct0pN_1RcD_w Star scoring scale: 5 = Spectacular 4 = Better than average, really enjoyed it 3 = Average, don't regret it 2 = Disappointing 1 = Abysmal read more

Hotel is fine. I'm platinum ambassador and didn't really see much difference in the level of service. Except for over texting lol see below. I did get a weird fruit plate my first night. I was supposed to get mineral water and the NYT every day but so far has been only once during my stay. (I'm still here.) The Starbucks inside closes crazy early and there aren't many vegetarian options at the restaurants. The spa is nice but expensive --interacting with the blonde British manager is the best!! Others at the spa are hit or miss. The roof pool area is very shaded, therefore cold. They were also playing Lynyrd Skynyrd, which makes me taking this is not somewhere I want to be. Maybe the other hotel-goers are from Indiana or something. The gym is good for a hotel gym. I like the cool wet towels and I always grab a yummy green apple on the way out! The staff is nice but DEAR GOD they text all the time. I need to figure out how to stop the five sentence texts they send me every day of my stay. Really put a damper on the trip. read more

Hotel is beautiful inside and out. They put a 100$ charge on your card at check in per night stay ( I stayed 4 nights so I had a $400 hold and my room rate was 550$ for the stay - at check in my card had a pending charge for $950) Housekeeping comes in everyday, my daughter and I were always out the room when they do the replenish everything and even tidy behind you ( in the bathroom we had products all over the counter and they organized that for me) The pool is pretty small and only way to get to it is to walk through the spa entrance. I chose not to eat at their restaurants to try an keep expenses low but you are a quite stroll away from Bayside MarketPlace where you can have dinner at about 5 different restaurants and for breakfast there are loads of cafes and restaurants across Biscayne Blvd. read more

Absolutely perfect for me since, when I come to Miami, it's not for the beach but to get on a cruise ship. The port of Miami is less than a mile away. Surprisingly, the hotel does NOT offer a shuttle to the ships as many hotels in other cities do that are in close proximity to the port. The hotel is right downtown, in the business district, not far from Bayside Marketplace. It's a mile from the Convention Center but South Beach is six miles away. You can get in some rays at the 5th floor pool area and have lunch at the Blue Water Cafe. They feature cocktails, smoothies, salads, and sandwiches. I had a wonderful concoction with shrimp, scallops, and mangoes, seasoned with curry. The rooms are adequate in size, with comfortable bedding and internet connections. Baths are marble. Indigo Restaurant offers a good selection of dining choices and has a nice wine list. On my recent stay, the only complaint I had was that I left information regarding the name of the second guest in my room, explaining that she was arriving later and should be given a key in case I had gone out. The front desk staff failed to put this in the computer. When Sherry arrived, she was delayed for some time while they attempted to reach me. I got on this hotel through Hotwire and paid only $104 total for my room. Another cruise passenger who also stayed paid $339. I certainly felt like I had gotten a bargain! read more

The hotel staff is ok, I mean ok and not so excited when they see you. They looked and sounded indifferent and didn't care much if you stay at the hotel or not. Cab drivers in this city are so rude; we used about 9 cabs and all were rude! Get a rental car! I wrote this review many years ago, but to date, it is still the best hotel I have ever experienced. I hope I can return one day for leisure, not business. How it has 3.5 stars I have no idea. When I first checked in, they did not have my reservations on file (even though I had email confirmation and everything to prove I had made them). However, there was no complication or hesitation and my room was upgraded to an accessible room (I use a wheelchair when I travel) with harbor view at no extra charge! I was already impressed. The room was wonderfully comfortable with a HUUUGE bathroom that had an accessible shower as well as benches. I did not use the accessible shower, but being of short stature, I found the shower chair excellent to use to reach the sink. The peep hole in the door and thermostat were also lowered which is the sign of a truly accessible room to me. The beds were very comfortable, and the highlight of our stay was spending the late afternoon in the luxurious heated pool. The drinks were divine albeit a bit overpriced, but I just assume get what I pay for and we did! We ate in the hotel restaurant once, and the service was a bit slow, but the food was good, and the room service was outstanding. They served us the best breakfast we had the entire time we were in Florida. Absolutely divine. The towels were great, the staff was very helpful, I was able to connect to the internet successfully and hold a great connection (although I think it's unfortunate to pay for internet when you're already paying to stay there...but again it's worth it for the decent/consistent connection). Overall, I really don't have complaints except for maybe the added charges and fees, but I adore this place and would consider it in a heartbeat if I planned a trip to Florida... it is truly worth every cent!!!! read more

I am literally still staying in the hotel as I write this. I didn't want to wait, in the hopes that maybe I could save one conference organizer from booking this hotel (I'm stuck here because of a conference). I arrived at midnight to discover that the hotel had the A/C in my room blasting all day long, and the temperature by the time of my arrival was something like 50 degrees. I can't say for sure exactly how cold it was because the thermostat was not working, and the hotel has placed a very unhelpful note above it saying "To make the room warmer, please turn off the thermostat." You can't warm the room up, you can just turn of the A/C. I was unable to sleep because it was FREEZING in my room. Upon learning that other conference attendees were not all having the same problem, I asked to move to a room with a working thermostat. I was informed at the front desk that many of there thermostats do not work, and there is no way to know which rooms have a working one. On top of that, when I went back to my room to take a nap mid-day, construction noise prevented me from doing so. This hotel seems to hate the idea of their patrons sleeping. I know Miami is an all-night party place, but I didn't think hotels would enforce all-night partying by way of refusing to let you sleep. I would strongly, strongly urge anyone reading this to never come here. read more

Love this hotel. The staff are friendly, helpful, well trained, and attentive to detail. The hotel is clean, and welcoming. Their pool area is well laid out, and the spa services are fantastic. Dining options are also good, but limited on premises. Hit Toro Toro for a smokey toro toro: is their best drink. Their basic rooms are nice, but you'll want to stay Bayside for the view. I also have stayed in their penthouse; if you're looking for a special stay that room does it all. Valet parking option is nice and they've updated their systems to use SMS valet tickets. read more

Quick overnight stay in Miami for a concert so we booked a room at the intercontinental. Check-in was fast and easy. We joined their free igh club and received a voucher for free Starbucks and a discount card. Valet parking was quick and efficient at check in but when we were ready to leave for our concert they brought up the wrong car and we had to wait a while for them to find our car. The rooms are a decent size but nothing special. It would of been nice to have another chair for additional seating. The view of the port and bay was very nice. Rooms were clean. Beds are ok as far as comfort. We had access to the club lounge. We took advantage of the happy hour but anyone traveling with children note that they are not allowed in the lounge from 6-8. They did let the kids come in for a minute to grab food but I have never stayed somewhere with a club level that kids weren't allowed. I understand why they do it because the alcohol is out and it's a liability but it still would of been nice for that to be somewhere on a website or told prior to booking. This also was not the kind of club Louie where u could grab some food and take back to your room - they wanted you to stay there. Room service food sucked - I would not suggest it. Location wise it was nice. We saw a concert at the American Airlines arena and drove ourselves there because we bought a parking pass before we booked a hotel. To be honest the drive there and back was faster than walking which surprised me. read more

Part of this review is the fault of the conference organizers, who scheduled me to arrive in Miami at 8:30 am so of course there were no rooms available when I arrived. So I went to eat breakfast, but the server never came by so after 20 mins I left and went to Starbucks. There are also zero outlets in the lobby. None. My boyfriend and I spent Christmas weekend on this hotel, the location of this hotel was great, by the bayside where you can do some shopping and have several restaurants to choose from. The room is okay with an ocean view since my boyfriend has the ambassador membership. However the toilet flush is soooo weak! You can't even put one use of toilet paper without clogging the toilet. It embarrassing especially when you took #2 and wasn't expecting that the toilet flush doesn't work properly! They sent the engineering to unclog it with the toilet clogger tool. Again, not only it's embarrassing, it's disgusting. And it was just a quick fix so my boyfriend and I were terrified to use the toilet esp if we had to go #2 so we go down to the lobby to use the restroom which is so much hassle!!! And on our last day, again, 1 toilet paper once again clogged the toilet, the water pressure is sooo weak and poor! It's a shame that considering this is a nice hotel but the plumbing is sooo bad. This is a hotel for business travelers on expense accounts. When you read a rate quote, remember that they tack on a $15 per day resort fee, even if you use none of the facilities. I guess honesty is a reach for them. Unlike a leisure hotel, there is no free breakfast, no free public computers. My room was mostly ok, but had its quirks. The electric blinds did not work well. The clothes closet is in the bathroom- not convenient if you are travelling with someone, and maybe not good for your clothes. The toilet paper holder is conveniently placed if you are a left-handed contortionist. The one chair in the room was not that comfortable. I was recently here on a business trip and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I've stayed in Miami a couple of times, but usually it's in South Beach. Service at the front desk was good, although oddly enough, the person in the gift shop was super rude. The room was nice, clean and the view of the water was gorgeous! PROS: Overall Customer Service was good Rooms were nice; great views Onsite Restaurant food was delicious CONS: Location was away from the nightlife if that's what you wanted Gym was nice but really dark - no motion sensors in the hallways at night Really garish advertisement for Club Mango on the side of the hotel - don't know what that's about, but wasn't sure I was in the right place when I first arrived. read more

I love the location of this hotel. It's within walking distance to many great restaurants and shops. You can stroll or jog along the river walk and take in the activity on the bay; sit in the nearby park and relax; or go over to Bayside and join the tourists from the cruise ships if you are feeling adventurous. The lobby is beautifully decorated with marble and contemporary furniture. I found the rooms to be very comfortable and nice as well. I had a beautiful view of the bay and I enjoyed watching the sunrise every morning as I got ready to start my day. We held our global leadership meeting here so utilized their conference rooms. The staff provided excellent service - very professional and accommodating. Room temperatures were consistent and the food was good. I did have a housekeeping issue and one of the bell hops needed an attitude adjustment, but the positives far outweighed these two negatives. read more
