If you don't feel like reading the entire review, I will tell you what the winning feature of my recent stay (3 nights in October 2022) at this hotel was: the cockroach that I found crawling on the table in front of the TV on my last night there. See picture. I was on the 25th floor...that's how you know, it most likely made that long journey up there with a large group of friends.
If you're up to reading the rest, sit back, grab a drink and enjoy.
On my first night there, I ordered room service through the provided website. After an hour of waiting, I called room service and they told me they went to another room because I had submitted the incorrect room number on my order. I double checked and confirmed that I had indeed written down the CORRECT room number on my original order.
On the second day, a VERY loud festival started up around 11 am right next to the hotel (of course, this is no fault of the hotel's). But I asked to be moved to another room that would lessen the noise. The front desk rushed me to move right then and there; I packed, moved to my new room. The next day (my last night there), as I was packing my suitcase, I noticed that a shirt of mine was missing. I realized I must have left it in the first room. I called the hotel's lost and found, they told me there was no shirt with the relevant description in the system. They told me they would check with housekeeping and get back to me. Spoiler, they did not. So, a bit later, I made my way to the front desk, asked if anyone had checked into the first room or if it had been cleaned. I was told that the room was vacant and not cleaned yet. GREAT! I asked security to come up with me and open the door so I could get my shirt. As we got to the room, housekeeping was just cleaning it, but spoiler again, there was no shirt there. Security took my info, let me know housekeeping would look for my shirt. A few hours go by and the hotel has the audacity to send me a text asking if my experience was a 10. No InterContinental, indeed it was not. I responded to the text and explained the situation. The hotel employee responding took a few minutes, contacted housekeeping and let me know that they had located my shirt and she was sending it up. This was 8 pm. By 8:45 PM, no shirt still. I called the desk, spoke to the manager who is the one who had actually been texting me, and she was puzzled as to why I still didn't have my shirt. She told me she will request it again and have it brought up. 9 PM rolls around and out of the corner of my eye, I see some movement. I turn to see a COCKROACH leisurely walking along the table on which the TV was. After killing said uninvited guest, I called the front desk to speak to the manager again. She didn't have much of a reaction to the cockroach that now lay squished on my table; she offered to move me to another room. But let's be honest, it was just as likely I would find another cockroach in my 3rd room at this establishment. Oh, yea, also, still no shirt. 9:30 PM rolls around and I make my way to the front desk. The manager explains that the shirt housekeeping had found was actually a man's dress shirt...but in full transparency, she offered to credit me 2 nights of my stay to make up for my less than stellar experience. I explained that I was there for work and this would actually inconvenience me greatly as I have to expense my stay through an expense report and my nights have to match the rate that I used to book the hotel. If you're still reading, this is the last leg of it. I leave the front desk in a huff and get back to my room so I can wake up at 4:30 am for my very early flight. I go to check out the next morning at 5 am and find that despite my clear instructions and explanation, the manager had decided to credit me the 2 nights anyway, making my life more difficult. I REALLY hope it has convinced you never to stay at this hotel, unless you don't mind waking up next to a cockroach or two. read more
