Going in, I expected great things given the ratings and price point. While I wouldn't go so far as to say I was let down, the overall value had me land at a 4-star rating. Once you arrive in Dublin, you'll need to make your way slightly outside of city center to reach the InterContinental. It isn't that far from all the action, but is not right on top of things either. The staff will happily help arrange a taxi or provide tips if you need. It is also only a few blocks from public transportation. Once in, you'll find the rooms to be top notch. Honestly, the bathroom alone was bigger than some of the other hotels I've stayed in recently. You'll have plenty of space to spread out. The rooms are also kept neat and clean. Breakfast at the Seasons is the full Irish plus. You'll get a buffet as well as made to order eggs if you'd like. Hours are decent, but get there early to avoid a crowd. The conference space offers a good variety for any occasion. We had dinner our final night and the layout worked for both meetings and dinner. I liked the Irish Whiskey selection at the bar! The staff is on top of things and outgoingly friendly. If you need a bottle of water, they have you covered. If you need a taxi, they can help. if you can think of anything else, I'm sure they will be happy to take care of things. They certainly make the hotel keep its high standards.

    High tea. Make reservations!

Wow what a nice hotel. So pretty! Rooms are comfortable and a good size. Nice large tubs and the bathroom was big. Right by a train station and two stop to the fun area of Dublin.

This hotel is approximately a 30-45 minute walk to the Temple Bar area (depending on your walking speed). There are several restaurants & bars located nearby. The WiFi worked well. The staff was pleasant & helpful. The cleaning staff always made sure the room was cleaned & prepared thoroughly. The room has a mini bar & an espresso machine. The king size bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the A/C in the room. The shower had hot water.

Overnight hotel stay- June 2022 Pros: Excellent and friendly staff and amenities Room service (I ordered breakfast) was quick and delicious) Buffet breakfast has fresh, high quality products. A quick $15 taxi ride into the city centre (this could count as a "con") Spacious guest rooms. Cons: N/A at this visit

Skinny Benedict for breakfast this morning.

Gorgeous property. Set back in a quiet and lush corner of Dublin's Ballsbridge neighborhood. Our room is spacious and well appointed, solid 4-star finishes, classic and understated design. It's worth also mentioning the wifi is free and works really, really well. The lobby area and bar are the property at its best. Views of a lush courtyard, muted acoustics, lots of guest activity and local business people having informal meetings over coffee. High-quality, if short, menu served until 11PM. One small suggestion for management is hiring some slightly more senior wait-staff, I think there's room for the non-lodger business in particular to grow. If you're looking for a bit of respite and quiet when you travel, this may be the perfect hotel for you in Dublin.

This concerns the gym. I am in the middle of my workout sweating, and going in between two machines. The elliptical and the treadmill. I am Obviously sweating and have a towel wrapped around me. Cleaning my sweat off as I go. While I am trying to finish my run on the treadmill some older gentleman who is training with a personal trainer come up to me, interrupts me and tells me I need to clean the elliptical. To which the personal trainer does NOTHING but stand there. My assumption is that this elderly gentleman is a resident, or has a membership to the spa/gym. Someone might want to fill this gentleman in on the fact that an entire hotel also shares this gym. So rude and unacceptable. If the gym was full, that would have been a different story. I would only use one machine. I have definitely felt harassed. Not good at all.

Again, great food, attention to detail, and hospitality! I particularly love the thick fluffy towels, high quality TP, helpful staff, and quick service. Th concierge was helpful is booking tours and reservations and gave us great advice on sights and days trips from Dublin. You can't go wrong here.

There is a lot of flavor tea! This is woo-long peacock tea

Hotel bar sucks! Too small and to much traffic going in and out to the back patio. Bar selection is limited. Worst bar in Dublin!

And honestly, we were bummed it was saved for our last night. The hotel is situated alongside the canal, a few blocks from city center Dublin and is well placed for restaurants, pubs and/or exploring. The hotel has "old bones", but a lot of modern features and decor throughout the public space and guest rooms. Some of the spaces are still a bit dated, but they are well kept and clean. We were also impressed with the outlets here including the coffee/pastry window and the full service restaurant, which is gorgeous! We enjoyed the restaurant enough to enjoy two meals here in our short time on-site. The rooms were small, but well equipped, updated and laid out well. There was seating beyond the bed, which is always great. bed was comfortable and oddly enough, water pressure for the shower was best we had during our time in Ireland. Its the small things! On-site parking is available via a small parking garage. It is tough to maneuver, especially when multiple cars are moving around, so just be mindful. Service was stellar at the front desk upon arrival, during our stay and then at check out. Overall, Grand Canal may not be the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at, but it was the highlight of our Ireland trip from a hotel perspective, and we would 100% stay again when back in Dublin!

If you come prepared, they have a concierge and a genealogist on site to help you find your ancestors from Ireland. Many famous people and politicians have stayed in these walls as well. That said, this was a truly special time of year when they're getting ready for Christmas! They took such care and were meticulous with their decorations. It was delightful to come home to each evening. Experience: 1. They will tidy your room everyday 2. Turn down service begins around 6 pm (they will get your slipper, robe, bed, water and chocolate ready for nighttime) 3. Their small guest room includes a king size bed that is superbly fluffy. 4. The deluxe guest room has a deep tub for soaking Staff: The entire front desk staff is very helpful, welcoming and efficient. Marta was especially helpful and kind throughout my stay! As for the porters were just right with their assistance. I did always feel bad that I had not gotten any Euro on my trip, but I will mention Karl was fantastic! Always helpful and nice to talk with. Michele in the health center was informative and helped me find all of the rooms for their current gym as it's under renovation. Facilities: They have a 5 star spa on site that includes one of the best relaxation rooms I have experienced in the world. It's the view and seating that make it amazing. They give you a blanket, fruit, spa water -- all while looking over st. Stephen's park... bliss! (I went on a rainy day which added to the ambiance) The facial with Elemis product was my favorite. PRO TIP! if you're from the states and liked Elemis, there is now an Elemis outlet store at Kildare Village, which is a short train ride away. I made it there in 35 minutes. DINING: Again, 5 star experience and the restaurant is always packed. Chef makes superb food and I thoroughly enjoyed the room service of fish and chips. TONS of fish, perfectly battered and fried. If I could give the shelbourne a 10 out of 5 I would.

We arrived from an overnight flight at roughly 9:30 a.m. and they were still prepping rooms but they stored our luggage and recommended a location to grab something to eat which was very good. Upon returning about 45 minutes later our room was ready and we found the room to be meticulous with a very comfy king bed, mini fridge, tv, and ample size bathroom. I saw a few other reviews that stated the bathroom doors would not stay open but I learned that is by design and we just asked for an extra towel that we used to prop the door open when needed. It serves to point out that the entire hotel is under a complete remodel so many of the rooms and features of the hotel are shinny new. They do offer breakfast in the morning and for the evening they do have a restaurant and bar. Just walk out the front door if you want a livelier crowd and more restaurant options The location of the hotel is prime as it offers proximity the River Liffey, plenty of shops, pubs, and attractions. We walked to the Jameson (25 min walk) and Guinness (30 min walk) factories as it also gave us the ability to take in things along the walk. You are close to Trinity College and both St Patrick's and Christ Church Cathedrals. lastly, I cannot say enough about the staff, Anne at the front desk was a warm and inviting pleasure and very professional, Marvin the concierge and bellman was super helpful and pleasantly informative, the house staff was attentive and always looking to make sure we were comfortable. The Brooks comes with my highest recommendation.

Every other property I visited was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. The Gibson was the exact opposite. From the moment I arrived, the staff were cold, unhelpful, and unwelcoming. At check-in, I was handed a key with barely a word and simply pointed toward the lift. No offer to assist with luggage, no information about the hotel, no sense of hospitality whatsoever. Throughout my stay, whenever I passed through the lobby, staff either ignored me entirely or deliberately looked busy to avoid interacting. I even sat in the lobby for a while just observing, and it wasn't just me - the staff treated all guests this way. Aloof, uninterested, and uncaring. Hospitality is supposed to be about warmth and service, but here it felt like guests were an inconvenience. This hotel was the least accommodating, least hospitable, and least welcoming of my entire trip, and it wasn't even close. Ireland is known for its friendliness and warmth - but you will not find it here. Do yourself a favor and stay literally anywhere else. I strongly do not recommend the Gibson Hotel.

WEIRD EXPERIENCE…read more.. Mixed feelings about our stay at the infamous Temple Bar Inn. Absolutely a beautiful lobby with a retro 70s industrial theme (see pics) with a 24/7 friendly security officer. The two desk clerks at the reception desk checkin area were professional and not secretive about the disclaimer of the late night noise from the hopping bar scene below our room, although they provide foam ear plugs to dull the wrath. Unfortunately, a room change to the opposite quieter side of the building was not possible at this juncture since they were sold out. Understanding that this hotel, like many others throughout Europe do not have cold a/c so the windows need to be cracked open. We were aware of the noise situation from reading prior reviews, therefore, we were prepared to deal with it. Within five minutes we were given our room key and up the elevator we went and into an oversized room. As we were unpacking everything, we noticed the pair of foam ear plugs next to the bed, the shower was massive with an affixed chair that took up half the stall with only a removable manual shower head that was level to my neck, a sink that almost was touching my thighs, thick bracing bars throughout and the bed seemed oddly low to the ground. The wife was not pleased and I could feel her stress building up. OMG...We were in the handicap suite or a room for little people, but more likely for handicap people. We checked our reservation which did not indicate a request for a handicap accessible room. The wife gave me the wonderful job to go back to the reception clerk to resolve this issue and hopefully switch rooms. The clerk advised that the hotel has five handicap rooms and we were blessed with one of them. Since the hotel was sold out, there was nothing he could do at this time. He advised me to meet with the clerk in the morning in an attempt to resolve the issue. The next day the clerk was able to provide us another room at the rear of the hotel with less noise, and happily I accepted. We secured this reservation over six months ago and this situation should have never happened in the first place. Not sure if the hotel policy is "First Come, First Serve" since we arrived at 8pm. The next morning we packed up everything and went to the new room, which was modern and perfect. We finally took our showers with excellent hot water pressure and left tired but happier. Other than those exciting issues we had a pleasant stay and the location is excellent with bars and restaurants within steps of the hotel. They provide a breakfast in the hotel for a fee but we chose to experience the donut shops and cafe around the corner. Check out was painless and taxi service can pull up directly to the front door. Interesting experience at this hotel but it worked out fine in the end. Based on the situation we encountered, we called ahead to our hotel in Scotland requesting firmly but politely, NO HANDICAP ROOM PLEASE.
