I can't speak highly enough about Carlos and his team. I hired them to do hard flooring in my upstairs and they were great at letting me know options (ultimately I selected vinyl) and quickly providing pricing. I wanted waterproof LVP since I have multiple pets, and needed something to replace the carpet the house came with and get rid of the stale cigarette aroma from the previous owner. He and his team tore out my old tile and installed new LVP and baseboards in 2.5 days. A few months later everything is still perfect. The team wore masks (omicron back then) and was fast and cleaned up all the mess. All I had to do was pick the LVP and baseboards and pay. TBH, we did paint the baseboards for him. TL;DR (too long; didn't read): Carlos and his team is fantastic and they do really great work. We didn't originally see Inter-Urban on our initial "hardwood floor install" search on Yelp, but when you submit a quote request, the website gave us additional places to send your request to. And boy are we glad that Yelp has that feature. Carlos came over within a day or so, assessed our floor, and we definitely appreciated the care that he put into into explaining everything about the process. Most everyone else came over, measured, threw a number at us, and left. Carlos gave us multiple flooring options, the pros and cons of each type, where we could go to see the flooring in larger sections in person, tips on how we could shave some of the cost, and how we could best prep for their arrival (where to move furniture, painting the room ourselves prior), etc. All in all, it was an easy choice to hire Inter-Urban. When it came time for the install date, Carlos and his team got right to work. They did a fantastic job, and I could tell they were really paying attention to the details. My wife, the nitpickiest person in the planet, couldn't even find anything wrong, and I kept asking her throughout the day to make sure she was happy with how things were going (because if I hadn't and she found something after, she would have brought it up daily until we moved or died. maybe just died because she doesn't let anything go.). I've gone off on a tangent. We changed the floors downstairs from an old hickory, red toned engineered wood to a floating bamboo floor with a gray tone. I received multiple quotes for install and Carlos' price was very fair and their work was excellent. He is easy to communicate with. He answered all my questions before the job. He and his team were always on time and cleaned up well after it was complete. They also did a great job on the baseboards and definitely had the best price for the material and labor for the baseboards. This is a family business and all the workers were professional and very nice. He replaced the carpeting in two large rooms for us with wide Acacia planks after arranging for us to purchase the wood at wholesale (I'm a suspicious sort and I checked that the price really was wholesale. It was.) He was endlessly patient helping my wife and I come to a decision about which wood to use and how to order it. He then picked the order up and after resting the boxes for a day did a meticulous installation with really fine attention to detail. We provided the flooring material from Costco, so he was just doing installation. He quoted a fair price and was able to start in our time frame. He provided receipts for the moisture barrier, stair nose and baseboards so we reimbursed at cost. He finished the job in record time (a day early!!) and the quality is top-notch. If you are looking to have a hardwood floor installed and/or refinished look no further than Inter Urban Flooring. Carlos and his team, which includes a woman that can handle a saw as good or better than any man, treated my job as if it were their own home. I had wall to wall carpeting that had been down for at least as long as we owned the house (24 years). The subfloor was a slab with a twist. There are 2x4s on the 2" side and then 3/4" plywood on top of the 2x4s. When you walked on the carpet you heard a lot of squeaks. There was no sneaking up on anyone. Once they removed the carpeting we could see that the plywood was tired. They removed a few pieces of plywood and we could see that the 2x4s were not 16" on center, they were more like 24". We decided to replace the plywood. They took extreme care to add additional pressure treated 2x4s to make up for the 24" spacing and shimmed everything so the floor was as near level as it could be before installing the new plywood. This house was built in 1958. Finally they could get to what they were originally hired to to which was install 3/4" unfinished solid red oak. They took care in installing the flooring asking for my opinion whenever there was a decision. (The room and hall were not rectangular, so it was a difficult install). Carlos' team cleaned up each night before they left and even vacuumed the outside area where they were cutting the wood each day. Each morning they arrived early. There was great communication throughout the install. When it came to staining the floor, Carlos provided several sample colors for us to choose from . We never felt rushed. First they sealed the floor, then they stained it and gave it two coats of finish. I am not an easy person to please when it comes to work performed by contractors. Carlos' team is one of the very few contractors I would recommend without hesitation. Carlos was very easy to work with. They became part of the family. My dog, Sophie, looked forward to greeting them each morning. I cannot say enough about this team!! read more
