I'm only rating this place 1 star because no stars was not an option. I went into the place to get a simple eyebrow wax. I've never had a problem from anywhere else. First of all as soon as I walked in noone greeted me. Then when I asked her to get an eyebrow wax she started laughing and then told the owner whi also started laughing who then told someone else who also started laughing. I ended up just leaving. I can speak Vietnamese and I know for a fact they didnt have anything nice to say. Avoid this place if you can. read more

Went to this nail salon for the first time about a month and a half ago, Julie, was my technician. She did such an amazing job! I have extremely sensitive skin and have a hard time finding a nail salon that doesnt use extremely harsh chemicals and products, but this place, whatever they use, is wonderful! I got a pedicure, which cost about $40, that included all the works! Mask, scrub, lotion, massage, things that other salons usually charge extra for! Not only were the products nice, the tools were CLEAN! I watched all of the techs open sealed packages of sterilized tools on each customer, not reuse dirty ones. That in itself is amazing! The pedicure itself lasted 6 weeks, which is incredible, especially living in Hawaii. I went back for another pedicure just last weekend and was not disappointed! I live in town and definitely say that Julie is worth the drive to Hawaii Kai. read more

Waited approximately twenty minutes after arrival for an appointment. When seated I was sat next to Lilly's dog which barked quite loudly and I did not find that to be conducive to what is supposed to be a relaxing environment. I love dogs but the pup should be left at home!!! As she needed to attend to him frequently to keep him from barking. Lilly did my pedicure and manicure. I look forward to these monthly manicures and pedicures and my experience at this place was just okay. The nails there are alright but they are EXTREME crap talkers, and the lady who did my eyebrows didn't even apply pressure after waxing my eyebrows or lip and she waxed the bottom part of my eyebrows off it's so frustrating that I have my school dance on Saturday and she made my eyebrows so thin avoid this place, and go to Hawaii Kai nails, theyre way better at waxing and they keep your eyebrow shape. Worst manicure I've ever gotten! The women who did my manicure totally rushed it and didn't even put on the polish nicely nor cleaned she up the mess she made getting polish on my skin. Even after I told her she just tried to fix it quickly to her to the next costumer. And like expected after this bad experience, the polish didn't even last a day! Service was terrible, I went with my mother to get a manicure I got gel and she got a regular manicure. You can see the different layers of gel polish on my nail, one nail has a lump of polish on it. She didn't do a good job of painting the whole surface of the nail. As far as my mom the woman who did her nails named Dina was talking on the phone the whole time while doing my moms nails. She was very rough with my mom and very rude. She applied the polish quickly and did not do a good job at all. I highly suggest finding somewhere else to do your nails. First time here, took me in with no appointment immediately. I was greeted by almost every technician. Salon is clean & sanitary, yet spacious enough so you don't feel stuck to the next person. Massage chairs are amazing! Put me to sleep before I even got my massage. I got Jackie & she was awesome. Soooo sweet & her massage was amazing. I got the deluxe pedi which included a scrub, clay mask & massage. I fell asleep immediately. I felt so relaxed, & I got to watch Eclipse while I got my toes done!! I came to get a fill they broke off in two days and the paint job was all chipped and ugly. So disappointed.

This was my first time getting a pedicure. I went with my fiancé who loves this place, and highly recommends it. She gets a pedicure and manicure almost every trip. All the workers were very nice, the salon was clean, my feet were well taken care of, and they feel great! The cost was worth the finished product. Only drawbacks for me were the couple times in the past that they have been a tad messy with my fiancé's manicures. But she keeps coming back, so she obviously approves and recommends it! read more

Came in to have my previous gel nails removed and for a mani/pedi. Lily cleaned up my cuticles, filed, and painted very well. The massage was so good that I got 10 extra minutes! The reason for 4, not 5 stars??? When removing the gel, she used the sanding tool that strips your natural nail, also, she never really asked if I wanted them cut and what shape. I did like the callus remover that she used - razor, Very effective (don't think that they can use those in CA)! All together $55 read more

Just got a simple mani/pedi at Nail Tek. Won't be going back! Positives: Lots of people working there so you walk in, even on a Saturday; plenty of parking and convenient location. Negatives: Employees speaking Vietnamese the whole time; person that did my nails could not understand me. I explained the shape I wanted and even showed her on my other hand but she still didn't get it. She also rushed through the whole pedicure. I could live with all of this but at the end after I paid I gave her a cash tip. She just took it, and didn't even say thank you, smile or say goodbye. Maybe she thought it wasn't enough but I think 13% is plenty when you're not happy with the service. Needless to say, there are plenty of nail salons in Hawaii Kai. I've been here twice, NOT impressed both times! The first time I went was about a year ago. It was my birthday and it was the first time I had gotten 1 hour to myself in 8 months (new mom!). I was really looking forward to a pedicure, mainly the massage but I was pretty disappointed with it. I decided not to go back there. Then last week, I needed to have my acrylics removed (my set was done at another salon) . I was in a rush and Instyle Nails was conveniently located. I figured it was just a removal so they can't screw it up that bad right? WRONG. In the past I've had other salons soak in acetone or file them down then try to remove them fully, but my nails were always in tact after. Came here and was so disappointed. My nail shape came out uneven the polish not smooth they don't carry mat top coat don't have gold glitter. I tried opting out for a different glitter but expressed I didn't like it and the nail tech replied after 2 coats it will look nice. I had to tell him to correct the shape of my nails which he barely tried so I just gave up telling him how to do his job. I was almost about to just walk out . The total cost was 18.78 which now I understand why because if it was any expensive than that I would be really upset. Went here a few months ago, I'm not happy with my nails when I got it done here. I had a short break from work so I decided to do my nails while on break big mistake, the nail technical who did my nail was nice but she can't do a simple fade design? I ask for a white nail fade with glitters and she made it look so hard to do. My gel polish was very messy and uneven not pretty at all on top of that my nail Polish chip in less than I week I guess that's a good thing so I can get it redo it somewhere else. I didn't even take a pic of it because it's that horrible. What a waste of time and money for me. I won't be back. Super relaxing, massage chairs felt great. Ok with kids, men and women. my entire family of 5 had a mani pedi deluxe, two children, and a teenager, and two adults. they were finished with us all in one hour, $250.00 for five... my kids and husband liked there's, me on the other hand...the lady that was doing my manicure and pedicure wasn't nice.. she cut the cuticle on my right big toe, it took a week for the cut to heal, my nail polish that was applied started to crack and flake on my hands and feet after a few days. read more

Needed a Gel Fill last minute and ended up walking in to instyle nails to get one. Ive been here once before when they first opened & service was ok. Today, I Was seated right away, even though it was a bit busy(12:30 on a Sunday). When asked if I wanted a pedicure, decided last minute I should just get one too. Jackie was very friendly & accommodating throughout both pedi and fill. I ended up getting the upgraded pedi- deluxe spa which was $36. For my fill it ended up being $40: not sure what the normal price for a full set is here but she did have to take off a few nails and replace them with new gel. Jackie was very efficient and took her time during both services to make everything perfect which I really liked. Majority of the times I get my nails done most techs don't pay as much attention to detail or are in a rush to finish quickly to help the next person. It was a bit Pricier then I expected, but I didn't mind as Jackie did a great Job & I love my new nails! Will definitely be back to see Jackie! read more

I always call ahead so I have never had to wait for my appointment. I get the deluxe pedi and gelish mani. I don't have a specific person I go to; some of them do a better massage than others. Some of them don't even do a massage unless you remind them. Besides that, everything else is great! This was my first time going here. I had called earlier in the day, about 930am to schedule an appointment. My in-laws had gotten me a mani/pedi combo gift certificate for Christmas and I decided to use it before I give birth. When I arrived, at first the woman couldn't find my appointment in the book. Then she thought I was coming in to get waxed. I had to explain to her what my appointment was for which took a while because English wasn't her first language. After that, I waited about 5 minutes for two other women to come look at my nails. They all thought I had acrylic of gel nails on until I told them my nails are naturally long and strong. I ended up going with a gelish manicure with an accent nails and a basic pedicure. In total it took about 2 hours to do it all. Reasonable price that does good job. Large salon so you can go with groups and they will accommodate and group sitting together. Designs are good --nothing super skilled. If I want one of those special designs then I go elsewhere and pay more than double price to get that luxury bling design for special occasions. I've been here about 5 times in last 2 years. It's a great meeting place for my 2 friends to meet and catch up.....we go to Ross at 8am and shop, have 10:00 pedi appointments, then to lunch at Maile's Thai Bistro. Perfect Sunday morning adventure. Also their salon is extra clean, chairs are well maintained and all working with the massage, which I really appreciate! Will continue to go there!!!! read more
