My girl Julie is my fave. She gives the best massages and remember little things like that I work in healthcare etc, so she always makes me feel special. Her technique is fantastic. They take temp before entering and have shields on every other chair and typically seat folks every other chair... so they got the COVID precautions down. Prices are typical.. I stopped by Instyle Nails since I was in Hawaii Kai. I walked up and a lady asked me if I had called ahead. I explained that I hadn't because Yelp said they take walk-ins. She proceeded to take my temp. I was allowed inside. I just wanted a pedicure. It was really nice at 1st. Until my tech cut my big toe. Then as she was applying the callus remover, some got on the cut. It was burning. I was asking her if it was supposed to burn and she didn't understand me. As I repeated, the other female nail tech understood and I put my feet in the water. We laughed but I was not feeling it. I was just praying that this visit would quickly end. She finished my feet. I tipped her because I messed up my polish moving my feet. It's a nice place, quant right near Costco. Not sure if I'll be back again. read more

I popped into Instyle as I didn't have time to drive to my regular spot in town. I wanted the basic pedicure ($35) and to be honest it was ok (far fewer bells and whistles than my usual spot) - they did the soak, callus, short massage, and polish. When I went to pay they charged me $45 for some upgraded version but had never asked me if I wanted it in the first place. To be honest, I am not really sure what I paid for because it still seemed pretty basic to me. When I asked, the tech gave me a sort of snarky response about callus and massage. I paid the bill because I figured there was probably no point arguing. I won't be recommending and I will not be returning. If you do go, agree on price before butt hits seat. read more

The staff was friendly and we were seated right away, so I'm glad we were able to walk in. I was taking a girlfriend to get a mani for her birthday. The staff was friendly but I didn't like how much they insisted on getting gel. Very persistent and when I tried to say I think I want to do regular instead, my manicurist kept saying no gel is better. I even asked her will the process to apply gel be longer and she kept saying no it's faster. It took quite a while and my nails actually have tons of coats of nail polish paint so they look kinda lumpy. Plus I wanted an accent nail, and it looked alright... when I got the bill for $40 for my mani I didn't feel it was worth the amount. I've had better manicures for same price or cheaper. Oh and the best part-- while doing my nails, she looks and stares at my face, so I smile at her. She then says, "do you want a eyebrow wax too?" LOL. No shame in asking for a big tip after terrible work. Please note that I get my nails done every 3 weeks. Because I was in the area I went here instead of my usual place. I called ahead with an appointment to have a mani and pedi done at the same time by two people. The lady answering the phone stated they could do that and booked me. When I arrived, a gentleman quickly got the pedicure tub ready and begin working in nails (both hands and toes) simultaneously. When he asked my how I wanted my nails, I said long but even as I have short fingers. This makes them look longer and skinner. No problem right? Long story short, I didn't get anything I requested. The polish could have easily used one more coat and closer to the edges. Additionally, when I went to pay I truly felt this service didn't merit a tip. I'm from Hawaii. I know that everyone makes a living off tips and make it a personal standard to leave no less than $15 anywhere. But after deciding that I didn't felt this service merited a tip, and proceeded to close my wallet.... the guy made a big deal about a tip and kept repeatedly pointing and tapping firmly in the tip portion of my receipt. Saying, tip. Leave big tip. How distasteful. If it weren't for the lady behind me and to save myself some embarrassment, I would have said no, explained why and left. First I was told, "yah can, then as soon as I asked if my regular nail tech was available, 3 different people said I can come back tomorrow to get my nail fixed.! I am a regular at Instyle Nails and have been coming here for 6 years and every time I come in the technicians are always friendly and greet you. When I am getting my nails done, I hear other technicians talk to the customer and get to know them and I like that because it shows that they actually want to know their customers. The shop is well lit and always clean and I love their simple and elegant design. It just pulls people into the shop. I go to Lily and Tina and always get good service from them since they already know my style that I like and how I like it. I live in Kapolei and have tried to go to other places but it doesn't work out so I am willing to drive all the way down here to get the great service and atmosphere that this shop offers. NOT USING STERILIZED, PROPERLY SANITIZED EQUIPMENT. They were insulted and treated me poorly when I asked for a freshly opened/ not previously used tool kit for my mani-pedi. Worst Mani Pedi ever. The pedicurist repeatedly yanked at my foot to reposition it even though I told her it was uncomfortable and she was hurting me. When It came time for my manicure, I had asked for a gel soak-off, and she used the drill, which damaged my natural nails. She was very efficient even though it did take a while, as the massage, plus mani, getting short nails and buffed, which i prefer. Very reasonable price. All in a massage chair. From the clothes I wore, to my skin, it was awful. It wasn't until I told them I could understand them that they stopped. They are incredibly rude and do not do a good job. I did a mani/pedi and the girl who did my nails filed them down so hard my nails were sore. They're now so thin that I have to grow them out before I can go back to get them done. Service was pretty good & they accommodated for COVID really well. They did make an effort to sell more to my mom & I, which is totally fine. Not even a full week after getting a manicure, the polish started lifting by my cuticles & then started chipping. I got the gel, which is supposed to last for about two months. I usually never write reviews and to be honest Instyle used to be my family's go to nail salon but after today I will never set foot in that salon again. My husband and I went in and asked for pedicures, they asked me if I wanted gel and I said no because every time I get it I don't come in for awhile because it does last long but I want to get pedicures more regularly so I just want regular polish. I get my manicures done by a friend and they kept badgering me about who did them and why don't I just get a pedicure at my friends establishment and I said because I still like this salon for pedicures and waxing. They laughed and I thought nothing much of it. The pedicures were SO rough, the filing was overboard, the digging under the nail almost felt intentional and when they do cut something they'll put the dirty nail ON YOUR FOOT and say "see! Look! So dirty. You need to come more often" which is not only super embarrassing but really unprofessional. We opted for the deluxe pedicure because we thought why not splurge. The deluxe pedicure is just a scrub in what looks like a little larger than Costco sample cups, lotion and the foot scraping of dead skin then at one point she put cling wrap under my right foot but not my left? I was so confused. The pedicure ended and she painted my toenails, as we're waiting for my nails to dry, she starts removing her own nail polish (see picture) from her foot RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, then she grabs her sandal and tries to kill a bug that keeps flying near us, With that same hand that she had on her foot she picks up the clear polish and puts the last coat of polish knowing my big toe isn't completely dry (which is now smudged) we go to check out and I pay in cash. Total comes out to $105, I pay her $120. She gives me back $14 and some change back, I give her a $20 and ask for two tens in return to tip them. As she's bringing out the two tens I tell her give ten to herself and ten to the woman who did my husbands pedicure. We then leave. Ten seconds later she comes running out with the calculator saying I jipped her, did some random calculation on the calculator and said she gave me $10 too much in change and to give it back. Horrified at her chasing us out in public with the calculator I just gave her back the ten not wanting anything to do with the salon ever again. She takes it and leaves, I will never ever return to instyle again. Lili is amazing but after todays service with whoever I had, instyle lost one of their most loyal customers. DO NOT COME HERE. I stopped in here unscheduled mid-morning for a pedicure, partially as a treat for my wife, who hates my foot calluses, and for me, who also hates my feet. I've always avoided nail parlors for two reasons: primarily the overwhleming acetone fumes, and secondarily social considerations of man-pampering. I'm over the latter now, and thankful that the former was not present upon entering. I was seated immediately, and handed a controller for the massage chair, and submersed my feet in a warm bath of water with some sort of blue substance added. You then have your choice of two options, the basic pedicure, and an upgraded version with some additional massage and foot treatments. I should admit this was only my second pedicure, so I don't have a great depth in judging. I got my first at a hotel spa just before my wedding 6 years ago and my feet were immaculate, so I expected a similar outcome here. Unfortunately, however, I didn't get it. My feet are certainly improved, and maybe it takes a few appointments, but I still have calluses. Considering my prior experience, this was a big disappointment. As a side note, if you're ticklish like me, they have a large TV that, at time time of my visit, was playing the Travel Channel and featured a show about brew pubs across the country. This partially helped to channel my energy away from giggling at my feet ticking during the pedicure, but I was not wholly successful in this endeavor. I'm not afraid anymore, but I still have calluses. I'll try a different place next time. read more

Again I had a last minute decision to get a pedicure and I decided to try out a new salon because I was unhappy with the raise in price at the one I usually go to. My requirements are pretty easy I think: walk in ok, fairly priced, convenient and clean! Instyle met all of these requirements! 2nd time at this location- 1st time I would say the woman I had did a great job! She even stayed late to finish me up and didn't rush me out. This last time I went I had a different lady and I was glad I got to sit in the Massage chair the whole time. The manicure was good. The pedicure was just okay. I had to trim my own toe nails when I got home because the corners were not cut well. I also noticed the nail was cut more at an angle rather than straight. The polish has lasted and looks good but I likely won't go back for the extra $$ you pay I think it should be top notch. read more

One said "come over here" ... not a good morning or a smile. Then when i sat down we looked at the gel colors and they did not have a large selection. The first time we went the experience was good and the technicians we had were good too. But this time... My daughter had Jessica which was great. She takes the time to do a good job and is friendly. Great in making suggestions and doing what you want. My technician...not so great! Went in to get a deluxe mani/pedi. I had Tina as my nail tech. First off she had the water hot. Mentioned to her that the water was too hot. She just told me water too hot and doesn't make adjustments to the temperature and walks away. Took my feet out because the temperature was unbearably hot. She comes back and then makes the water cold. She doesn't even test the water temperature. Not pleasant to have to soak in a hot tub of water to a cold tub. When trimming my cuticles she was pretty rough at getting it done. So unpleasant. When she got to my toes, I had told her I had a ingrown and it was painful and if she could trim it for me. She was so rough working on my feet. She kept grabbing my toe with the ingrown causing me to wince in pain. Mentioned it to her again about being gentle and she ignored it and kept grabbing it in a rough way. Mistake to have her trim the ingrown because she wasn't that gentle and I had to keep from screaming! During the whole time that she worked on me she and Jessica were speaking in Vietnamese. I think that is so rude. They kept pushing for us to do gel polish. I said fine for my daughter but didn't want it for myself. Why should the customer have to pay more for their nails to dry quickly so that it would make the business life easier so that they can take another customer quicker. Really?!? Well, I ended up getting a halfa$$ job on my pedi. My heels are still rough and you can feel it. My mani was mediocre. I didn't even get a massage for my feet! Tina left for lunch and didn't even say anything. Jessica checked my nails and said I was ready to go. Paid for our services which was over $100 for the two of us. In the process of paying, my nails got smudged. When I walked outside I notice that 5 of my nails were ruined. Went back in to ask if they could just remove the polish. They told me to wait which was fine. They had Tina come back out. She said in a very rude tone, "I told you to get the gel." Then proceeds to fix the mistake. She had the fan blowing on my nails. I sat and waited till it was dry while she went back to eat her lunch. She comes back and tells me in a rude way again "you can go." Not once did she apologize nor did she thank us for the tip. I should have given her no tip. What a total waste of time and $$$ for this type of service. Don't recommend this business at all. The service was terrible if I could give negative stars I would, I'm wondering how is this establishment is still open. I came here for a deluxe pedicure and the lady who did mines seem like she didn't wanna do it and was rushing through everything. Like who finished a full pedi in less than 30 mins and the entire time she was talking and whispering pretty sure she was talking shit. Then she proceeded to use my foot bath as a trash can by trowing tools and other trash in to the water where my foot was soaking like wtf. The painting was terrible too there was a spot she missed and the boss scolded her and she gave attitude then reluctantly fixed it but it's clear you can see different layers. Also mid way through she stopped to go greet her friend and then rushed to finish my nail so she could gossip. Never in my life had I have this bad of a service, I would not recommend unless you want a crap job for a ridiculous overpriced job.
