I've had bad experiences with dentists and general PTSD after having 10 unnecessary tooth extractions as a child...but Innovative Dentistry has really sealed the deal on my loathing of this practice. I was lured in by the idea that a lavender eye mask and a cute therapy dog might make my experience better. Don't let their fancy veneer fool you. I was a poor broke grad student with perfectly straight teeth who had NEVER had a cavity in my life. I earned those straight teeth from four years of braces (and unnecessary tooth extractions) and had kept permanent retainers on. These were annoying at times, but preserved my straight teeth. Innovative Dentistry CONVINCED me that they should be removed, then charged me $800 for plastic retainers, which they didn't give me for months afterwards and my teeth have since become crooked. They also told me that I had multiple cavities that needed to be filled - despite never having one in my life (my sister hasn't either - good genes). They also demanded that I be xrayed almost every time I went in there. now that my head has been thoroughly and unnecessarily been irradiated, at the expense of my insurance, I will probably get brain cancer in 40 years and die unhappily with my crooked teeth despite 4 years of embarrassing ugly braces through all of high school and 10 tooth extractions requiring multiple novocaine shots straight into my childhood gums. If anyone has hope for me seeing another dentist ever again - message me with your ideas. read more

I think this is my second review. I have found them professional, attentive to my dental needs, quality skilled care and they do not push too much of the related care such as whitening, Invisalign and dental guards. Actually, they do offer these services when appropriate and work to get as much covered by insurance as possible. Most of my dental work with them has been routine care, but I have had a couple of advanced procedures which were difficult and required finesse and skill. I would recommend Dr Suberwahl and staff for most dental care and procedures. read more

I went here in February but waited until I got a second opinion to write this. Genetically, I have good teeth and have had 2 cavities over my 33 years. Innovative dentistry told me I had 7 at the initial visit. I knew I could have some but the number was very high so I went somewhere else. I have 3 according to them. Everyone at innovative is very kind and welcoming. They walk you through all the procedures and billing and are wonderful to interact with. The facility is in a beautiful space with lot of amenities but you are certainly paying for that with all the extras. I'm not going back. read more

I started my search for a new dentist, and Dr. Sharma's name continuously came up. After doing some extensive research I could see why she is so sought after. I called her office the very next day and luckily was able to find a time she was available (I canceled meetings to make this happen - what's more important than your health with a top-notch doctor?!). Now I don't think anyone is usually that excited to see their dentist, but when I walked into the office there was a good vibe, unlike any doctor's office I've ever been in. I was checked in by Sarah who was extremely accommodating, thorough and made me feel right at home. I was then taken into a patient room that looked to have all of the latest dental technology and the comfiest chairs, with good music in the background. Then I put on grandparent-like stunner shades while Chan went to work x-raying my teeth. No mistakes, or do-overs and an all-around solid guy made this an incredible x-ray making experience. Finally, I got to meet the legendary Dr. Sharma! She looked over my exquisite x-rays and did a thorough examination and brought up some incredibly helpful suggestions to further improve my dental health. This Doc doesn't miss a thing! It felt so good to know these pearly whites were in such good hands! Onward to cleaning with the sweetest Arizona belle, Mary. Mary was very detailed and offered add-ons to further improve my health with very up-to-date info on the best how-to's. She wasted no time in cleaning my teeth, before I knew it my mouth has never felt fresher. I couldn't stop smiling! Lastly, it was time to settle up. I sat down with Sorigiah who called my insurer ahead of time to get an in-depth understanding of what I would be responsible for - talk about being pro-active. Needless to say, I was very impressed. If you read this far and can't tell by now, they far exceeded my expectations. I'm thinking about eating a pound of candy to try and grab a cavity or two to head back before my next cleaning! Up until now, I've only ever been to a pediatric dentist and always felt confused when people said they hated going to the dentist. Innovative dentistry is still good, but I do totally get why people have going to the dentist now. I've been here for two checkups and one other appointment because my wisdom tooth was really painful. The doctors and staff are great but my first checkup was really painful and there isn't even anything wrong with my teeth. I've never even had a cavity... They took a whole super long appointment just to "evaluate" my teeth which just seemed like an excuse to charge my insurance and then took and absolutely absurd amount of x ray photos of my teeth. The tooth cleaning the first time was super painful and I opted for their upsell of some kind of laser cleaning. Maybe this is just how dentists are? I'll be back every six months or so but kind of dreading it. They are nice and knowledgeable and gave me a great referral for my wisdom teeth but it's unclear to me why it's necessary for teeth cleaning to be such a painful process. I guess now I will remember to floss more! read more

New patient to this office and I had an amazing first experience here. The front staff was very friendly and made getting an appointment very easy and FAST. I called on a Tuesday and was in on the same Friday for a check-up and cleaning. The doctor was extremely nice and took plenty of time to discuss my dental and medical history. Then off to Kevin for a cleaning. He did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth and I left a happy camper. Excited to find a dentist and office that I will continue going to in the future. This office continues to go above and beyond to fix any mistakes that might happen. I am the rare patient who has had some material shortcomings outside of the scope of the doctor or direct staff doing. The staff: They are super nice and always smiling and in a good mood even if they have a bad day. Wait time: You are usually in within 5 minutes of your appointment. The staff is very prompt so that is never a concern. Pricing: Very standard pricing for the area. They take most medical plans I believe. Therapy dog: for those scared of the dentist they have a therapy dog available which is a good touch. read more

However, I'm making an exception in this case because this truly is one of the worst experiences I've had with a dentist. I've seen Dr. Tina Subherwal twice now and both times ended up in excruciating pain due to an exposed nerve while drilling. I actually ended up needing an emergency root canal during one of them. Not only was this experience painful, but also extremely expensive. They offered no assistance when I called/emailed and didn't seem to care that this was causing me thousands of dollars out of pocket. Worst dental practice I've ever been to. My husband's crown was faulty after only 2 years and they refused to provide a refund. Their billing practices are also horrendous - always charged more than EOB and it took me months to get a refund. My initial visit here was not all bad. Everyone was very friendly and professional. Everything was bright and clean. I had an appointment and waited no time to be seen. They took a ton of x-rays, then told me I would need 7 fillings - I had had 0 in my 30-year life. Yes, I started drinking more coffee and eating chocolate lately, but going from 0 to 7 in a year is pretty ridiculous. The doctor came in and basically told me he was extremely concerned with the state of my teeth. Going to the dentist is like going to the mechanic. When you know nothing about the subject area, and not listening to the professional's advice could jeopardize your health, you kind of have to just nod your head and say yes to everything. When I was scheduling the appointments, I did feel pressured. The scheduler/ desk person kept emphasizing how the doctor was very concerned. Ok ok, I get it. Definitely felt a bit shamed. I returned a week later to get my cleaning done. With an appointment, I still had to wait for 15 minutes. With their hours being during normal work hours, a 15-minute wait was substantial. The dental hygienist was a little rough. She did apologize but she did it a few more times. At this point, I just didn't feel that great about them any more. Later that week, I called to cancel my filling appointments to seek a second opinion. My second dentist told me I would only need 1 and thoroughly explained what was going on with the other 6. I happily did my filling with them. Ever since I cancelled my appointments with Innovative, they kept calling and telling me how it was imperative that I got my 7 teeth filled. I called them back and explained that I got a second opinion blah blah blah. They did not sound surprised or bother to understand/ explain the huge variance in professional opinion. So after that phone call, I got my validation that this really wasn't the right dentist for me. read more

In the past year, the two primary dentists have left and there has been NO communication to patients. The care has gone down hill and the new team is unprofessional and charges astronomically high prices. I had the best dental experience of my life yesterday at Innovative Dentistry. Everyone I met was genuinely friendly and extremely professional. Alicia, Mary, and Dr. Tina helped with my initial eval and it was a very comfortable experience. I didn't have to go from room to room to do the x-rays, photos, and exam. I got to sit in the same (super comfy) chair the whole time. I didn't feel like the care was ever rushed or that the employees had to move on to the next patient. They have cool technology like video cameras for video tours of your mouth and option for laser bacterial cleaning. Crystal did my cleaning and was very warm and friendly with gentle but effective touch. There were a couple oddities. First, the cleaning did not immediately proceed after the exam. I had to schedule another appointment. Luckily there was an opening later in the day and I work nearby so I didn't mind, but it would have been a bigger inconvenience if that wasn't the case. The other thing that was strange was that they took a full x-ray profile of the mouth which ended up being 10+ x-rays. I know dental x-rays give off little radiation compared to other things but I felt like 10+ was excessive, especially since a lot of the images looked very similar (lots of pairs). I was a little concerned about the radiation. Otherwise, fantastic care. I love going to the dentist and I'm happy to have found a great dental clinic nearby my work. read more

Crystal is the world's best dental hygienist! She really listens and remembers all of your unique needs and fears to make sure you feel comfortable. As a person with extreme dental anxiety, this is VERY important to me and I'm so thankful for her! I went to Innovative Dentistry for almost 6 years, primarily just to keep seeing Crystal, but also the office is boujie and awesome - they give you free chap stick and have cookies, tea/coffee and juice boxes if you want them! Unfortunately I had to start going somewhere else when I moved to Tacoma just because the drive would be rough, but I seriously considered making the trek just so I could keep going here because it's that great! TL;DR: Dr. Berman is far more interested in making money than in for your dental health. If you're looking for dental care and maintenance (i.e. not cosmetic dentistry), go elsewhere. I am reporting him to the Washington State Department of Health. --- To put this whole thing bluntly, this dentist lied to me outright about what treatment I needed. I was told by this office that I needed close to a dozen fillings, and have since confirmed with two other dentists that I need literally NONE OF THEM. That's right, I have not a single actual "cavity" in my mouth. Read on if you'd like the details. I needed a cleaning and check up and had just moved to the area from Chicago. My husband had gone to Innovative Dentistry, liked it, and so I went without reading any reviews. Based on the fact that other reviewers have mentioned experiences similar to my own dismal one, that was a big mistake on my part. Admittedly, it had been over 2 years since my last cleaning due to some insurance gaps over that time period, and I thought maybe I'd have a few things that needed fixing since I had not done the routine once a year cleanings. I had previously had one cavity in my entire life, when I was a little kid. I also do not drink soda, sugary drinks, lots of processed carbs (which are like sugar to your teeth as well), or anything else that would put me at significantly higher risk for cavities. Still, I thought maybe a few. Dr. Berman informed me that I had ELEVEN teeth that needed fillings. I was shocked. Not least of all because the dental hygienist who had looked at my teeth indicated there were only "a few" spots she thought might need some work after doing the x-rays and gum examination. I know she is not a dentist, but they're not untrained in spotting these things either. Further, Dr. Berman didn't point out all 11 "cavities" to me on my films, and I was in such a state of shock I simply did not ask. The estimate for all of this was thousands, only roughly a third of which would be covered by my insurance. After asking more questions a few days after my appointment, all through correspondence with the "care coordinator" Elisabeth, Dr. Berman admitted that at least some of the teeth were not actual cavities, but rather enamel decay that could likely be reversed with the right attention to my dental hygiene. At this point, I decided to ask for my X-Rays. To their credit, they provided them via email without protest and offered that Dr. Berman would be happy to consult with any other dentist I saw at no charge. I should also note here that despite all of this, his staff constantly treated me with the utmost professionalism and were generally very pleasant. I shared these x-rays with my dentist in my home town, and she urged me to seek a second opinion, stating that from what she could see there were two spots of potential concern, that were probably nothing urgent and would need a physical exam by a dentist to determine if they were truly cavities or more surface enamel decay. I sought a second opinion at Dr. Reite's office at the recommendation of several neighbors. He was fantastic, and I'll be reviewing him soon. He showed me on my x-rays all the areas that Dr. Berman had marked as needing fillings in my clinical notes and patiently explained why every single one of them did not need filling. He even went into detail about how filling a tooth unnecessarily actual causes far more issues down the road. He then helped me understand exactly what I need to do to reverse this surface decay. So, in conclusion, Dr. Berman not only will recommend treatment you don't need, but treatment that will in fact cause you more dental issues in the future. He has hired a lovely, extremely nice staff and built a beautiful office complete with a "therapy dog" to distract you from the fact that he has no interest in your dental health, and only wants to make money. Perhaps the immaculate decor, pure bred therapy dog, and only the newest dental gadgetry should have indicated as much to me. But live and learn. As I said earlier, I will be submitting a complaint to the Washington State Health Board about Dr. Berman's conduct. I cannot recommend more strongly against him for your routine dental care. Perhaps he is much better at cosmetic dentistry, but I personally won't be finding out. read more

So friendly, helpful, warm, polite, professional, etc etc etc. 700 stars. I just moved here and was in so much pain. I arrived with tears in my eyes. Pardeep, the dental hygienist, greeted me at the door and was SO kind. I felt like a friend was there with me, holding my hand. Incredibly warm, nurturing, and helpful. My dentist, Dr. Kiefer was super sweet and talented. I had an extraction back in SF that was sooo painful but Dr. Kiefer was efficient, clean, and I already feel so much better. I got home a few hours ago.... Super star. The two had such great chemistry and loved how well they worked together. Diane went over my benefits and scheduled my follow up appointment. Other than her fantastic style (we had the same earrings and bag), she told me about events in the area and made sure I was 100% taken care of. Her delivery was professional and personable. I was impressed with everyone I interacted with. Plus, the facility was clean and modern. They fit me in, patched me up, and made me feel incredibly comfortable in such a physically uncomfortable state. I am a registered dental assistant and I recently interviewed at Innovative Dentistry. I decided not to apply any further for the job, as I decided I wanted to find an office closer to home. It was not an easy decision as you will see why in my review. I did a working interview for a day and a half. I got to see the behind the scenes of this office and thought I would share my experience and thoughts. First off Dr. Berman is a very nice man. Not just as a dentist but from what I gathered from his staff and working with him, just an all around good guy to know. Easy to talk to and kind. I was lucky enough to met his cute dog who sometimes visits the office. I loved that they offered heated neck pillows, iPods to listen to during treatment, and a warm lavender scented towel to freshen up after wards. They really focused on a quality dental experience and stressed wanting a staff that really cared about their patients and giving them great dental care that went above and beyond. This is what they wanted from whomever joined the practice. Watching Dr. Berman place fillings was a learning experience. The level of care and detail that went into each one was superb. There are many different products and techniques dentists use to fill teeth and I've seen quite a few. His was by far the best I've ever seen. Beautiful fillings! The technology they offer from digital x-rays, lasers, inter-oral cameras, and videos of what some treatments consists of makes the patient really feel informed. It's nice knowing they're getting the most up-to-date treatment that's available to them. Dr. O'Connor was so nice to work with as well. If you check out his credentials on their website you will know you're in good hands. The rest of the staff was so sweet to me. I thought I was going to be intimidated but everyone from the front desk and on was so nice. So thank you to everyone! And as a general rule of thumb, because I worked there for a bit. No, I was not asked to write this review. I just thought patients and prospective patients should know this is a great office and I'm giving them five stars for how they treated me, their patients, and the quality of work I saw. I now like going to the dentist. That was never, ever on my radar as an option until I came here. In fact, I hadn't been to the dentist in [insert secret long-time-ago timeframe here], because going to the dentist was about tied with "slow, horrible death" on my wish list. If you have higher-than-normal anxiety, let them know and they will set you up right. Concierge includes pills, blankets, and that giant teddy bear of a therapy dog, Humphrey. And, most helpful of all, the whole crew is really, genuinely caring and goes out of its way to put you at ease. (Ok, the pills don't hurt either. With those, I also recommend wearing dark shades and just sort of dozing off through the whole thing. Which, given the level of trust I have in the people here, is totally doable.) My teeth look and feel great, and I have them to thank for it. If you're paying out of pocket, I'm not sure this is the ideal choice for you. But I'm blessed with good insurance, Innovative bills Delta/WDS directly, and I'm quite confident I couldn't have made a better decision than to come here. They've convinced me that going to the dentist doesn't have to be some lower layer of hell. A great epiphany. read more

I needed a couple fillings and saw this office had good reviews, so was confident in the work that would be done. Huge mistake. Reading other reviews it's clear others have had the same experiences which is very troubling. I should say they're nice people, for the most part. But there's a lot of incompetence going on, and in a dental practice, being nice doesn't atone for bad dentistry and bad customer service. I'll list my experiences below. 1. The person who does the insurance really screwed me over. Before I got work done, she investigated my plan and told me that I wouldn't have much of an out of pocket cost. Well, she didn't do her research because the exact opposite happened and I ended up owing around $700 out of pocket. This was an error she admitted making. But the response was, "I'm so sorry, but you still need to pay." 2. I got 3 fillings with them. After 2 of them, I had a lot of discomfort, so I went back. The first one - they just had to do some more drilling - which I had to be numbed for. The second one - I was told they had to redo the filling. I have never heard of such a thing! I had to make another appointment, get numbed again, the whole shebang. I was NOT happy about this, especially when their response was, "Yeah, this does happen sometimes." Well, it's never happened to me or anyone I know. And for all the noise ID makes about its quality/service, having to return TWICE for them to fix shoddy work does NOT reflect well. 3. That filling just fell out, and it's only been about a year since I got it. So I have to now go get it filled for the THIRD TIME, obviously from another dentist because there's no way I would ever set foot in ID again. I'm hoping there isn't more extensive damage. In the meantime I've been chewing on one side and desperately trying not to get hot or cold liquid in the gaping hole in my tooth. Remember I paid $700 out of pocket for this. 4. When, after ALL of this hassle (mind you, that the employees in question openly admitted to creating), I inquired about them removing a piece of metal that was left behind on a tooth from an unrelated procedure. I figured they would do it for free because they'd screwed me over so badly on so many fronts, but they returned and said "That's going to cost you $100." $100 TO REMOVE A TINY PIECE OF METAL YOU COULD REMOVE IN LESS THAN 3 MINUTES? AFTER WHAT YOU HAVE PUT ME THROUGH? How cheap and stingy. And very clearly not patient-centric. I honestly wasn't ever going to give them a bad review, but now that my filling has fallen out, I feel a responsibility to let others know that the shining reviews on Yelp need to be taken with a huge grain of salt. This place really messed up my mouth and cost me lots of money and anguish because they're either lazy, incompetent, or both. read more

I have been a patient of Innovative Dentistry for 3 years. I am extremely satisfied with my experience there. The staff is experienced, friendly and caring. I have not experienced the same issues that others have written about, I have minor dental needs and there is no pressure for other treatment. In fact, the one filling I had done was suggested only with my permission (yes, they ask your permission to discuss what they find). When they showed me an actual picture (not an xray) of my 20+ year old silver filling, I could see the black area around the edges. When they removed it and replaced it with a white filling, they showed me the picture of the large cavity that was underneath-ugh. I find that to be proactive dentistry. My old dentist never caught that and it could have turned into a much more expensive crown or root canal if it had been left alone. Something I like to avoid. Since the one filling, I have had no reason for further treatment other than my regular cleanings. Yes, they do have laser, but there is never any pressure to include it if you don't want it - and they don't bring it up every cleaning, just tell you about the first time. They are very upfront about the cost of everything before you agree. I like that you have the option of sticking to the same Dr. or hygienist. They really get to know you and the same staff has been there a long time. There is no revolving door here! They also have a wonderful therapy dog who is available for anxious patients. They just really care about the patient being comfortable and keeping you educated. I highly recommend! read more

I absolutely adore Dr. Berman and the staff at Innovative Dentistry. I moved to Seattle about a year ago from NYC where i had the same dentist for 7 years. Fearful I would never find someone again that I trusted to dig around in my mouth for an hour every six months, I checked this place out as it is close to my apartment. AMAZING. Everything from the beautiful building, to the extremely organized staff, to the attention to detail is phenomenal. Also, I went in the day after my birthday yesterday and they gave me fresh out of the oven cookies! Icing on the (sugar free, fluoride laced) cake! After I had a crown replaced, Dr. Berman PERSONALLY called me the next day to follow up and see if everything was ok and how I was feeling. Not a hygienist, the actual doctor. A-MAZING. When was the last time your dentist calls you to check in? Unprecedented. When you go in for your first appointment they have a lovely insurance manager that goes over your dental plan with you and shows you everything you can "get" out of your plan to fully maximize your dental benefits. This was a first for me and I'm so glad she did. I found out I had more cleanings a year than I thought, I had coverage to get a night guard partially covered (bonus for this teeth grinder!) and the overall level of care is on another level. I'm confused by the other reviews saying Dr. Berman is only out to make money and not legitimate dental care. I've never been pressured for any cosmetic dentistry needs and always feel like they have my back. The only loss of a star is the overly thorough confirmation system. I get two emails asking me to confirm and even when I confirm through email, I then get a phone call. Pet peeve - crossing over into another communication method when one has been established. E-mail OR phone - not both. However, I would rather my medical practitioners are overly communicative with me, vs. not. Otherwise, I'm a huge fan of Innovative Dentistry and highly recommend them. I'm assuming the negative reviews are from people that don't like to spend money out of what their insurance covers. read more

I had good experience, got my teeth's crown, got my gum and teeth deep cleaning. Dr Tina is very gentle and knowledgeable, Crystal by far is my most favorite dental hygienist. She has done a very good job. Crystal even taught me how to floss my teeth properly (which I don't think I had ever been taught by anyone else). The clinic is very clean and it provides a very comfortable vibe. Moving here from Australia, I realize people always try to sell you something, and medical clinics are selling their services. There is nothing wrong with that I guess. There is no free lunch in the world, and it's America where social benefit is a joke, you definitely get what you pay for. I will come back to the clinic, one can argue about their high cost, but the services meet my standards and satisfaction. read more

I'd been needing to get my wisdom teeth out forever and they didn't pressure me into it but did steer me in the right direction and made me feel comfortable the whole time. Nearly 6 months later and I'm feeling great. The hygienists are super kind, they don't lecture you like at other places. I went to the same dentist for 31 years before my dentist retired. He was amazing, and did such a great job with my teeth. When he retired, I defaulted to the dentist that bought out his practice. Unfortunately, I did not have great experiences, and after 1 year decided to research and look for a new dentist. I found Innovative Dentistry on Yelp, saw how great the reviews were, and decided to go see them and give it a shot. I will never regret the decision I made. After my first appointment, I immediately moved to Innovative Dentistry. I had to have 5 silver fillings replaced as all of them were over 20 years old, and were cracking my teeth. I had amazing experiences at each of my appointments to complete the work. Dr. Berman was great, and I barely felt a thing when he was replacing all my fillings. Afterwards was the same. No more toothaches, no more cracked teeth, and I feel better than ever! The office also worked with my insurance coverage to make sure I was getting the best bang for my money by scheduling my appointments strategically and by priority based on the condition of my teeth. I cannot give enough praise to Dr. Berman and the entire team at Innovative Dentistry! They are all amazing people and I would definitely recommend them to anyone! read more

They are great, as long as you're not Deaf. Referred a Deaf friend to them and he just got the runaround. They aren't lonely, most practices don't want to provide interpreters unless they are forced to by law. I'm super disappointed though, because I didn't think they were like that. read more

The team at Innovative Dentistry is absolutely incredible! I moved to Seattle a few years ago, and finding good dental work in a new city can feel daunting and tricky, but I recieved EXCELLENT dental services from Innovative Dentistry and was blown away by their thoroughness, painless procedures and extremely welcoming and kind team. Usually, going to the dentist is a pretty mundane, sometimes annoying, experience, but every time I received dental work from here I left in a really good mood and a fixed up mouth! I can't say enough good things about the absolutely wonderful staff here! They are some extremely real, intelligent, and caring people and I highly recommend getting your dental work done here! Terrible experience: This office acts more as a sales organization than a dentist. From the minute I sat down with a hygienist, they constantly tried to push unnecessary and expensive treatments down my throat -- literally. When they "recommended" a certain procedure and I said I didn't want it, I was then informed that it would be "negligence" to not provide that procedure and that I have an infection -- something that did not come up in my consultation/x-rays at innovative and has never came up in my entire life. Long story short: the person on the phone lied to me and told me I had an infection, when I called them out for lying, they immediately retreated and began apologizing. WTF? I hope this isn't the way they conduct their business as a whole, but my experience here was so gross that I couldn't not share. I left with a feeling in my stomach that I was taken advantage of, and if you choose to go there, I hope you don't leave with this same feeling. I would give 0 stars if possible. read more

Absolutely beautiful office with a warm and inviting staff. I had my very first filling done there at 26 and the experience was as best as it could be. I recommended my husband to the practice who is afraid of the dentist and has not been in 5 years. He was actually comfortable there and is willing to come back. Dr Subherwal and the dental hygienists are amazing! I have had several crowns put in and the service was exceptional. Even regular check-up appointments are fantastic. I had an emergency following a bad fall and they got me in over the weekend to ease my pain and affected tooth. I was very scared and they calmed me down. Highly recommend this great team. read more
