The place felt like a spa with how chique and clean the decor was. The fact that the forms asked you what your music/tv preferences are and then had them playing as you walked into your room...amazing. The hygienist was extremely helpful and kind. I used to go to a dentist that was super cheap, but was swayed to visit Dr Yen when she was advertising her opening in the neighborhood with some pretty nice new patient offers. I've been going to see Dr Yen since she opened the office, and I'm really happy that I made the switch! First of all, Dr Yen is the sweetest person and always makes me feel like a dear friend when I visit. Secondly, the office is absolutely beautiful and they really try to make your visit a positive experience. When I filled out my initial application they ask what types of shows and music I like. Every time I visit, a playlist from my favorite band is already playing in the exam room which is a great touch. You can also watch Netflix shows during your exam. But onto the important stuff - the dental work! I really appreciate that Dr Yen, even with all of her fancy equipment and new-construction office, is not a pushy money grabbing dentist. She has always been very reasonable and thoughtful with her treatment plans, never pushing any unnecessary treatments or services, while also having great attention to detail during her exams and fillings (the only treatment I've ever gotten here so far). read more

Folks: if you have always cringed going to the dentist, cringe no more! At Union Street Dental, the owner, Dr. Yen, and her dental team are there for you to ensure that your dental experience is as painless as possible. The skeptical side of you asks: "Is that even possible?" Yes. First off, the interior is very clean and modern looking. You also are given a mug for Keurig coffee while you wait. During the actual cleaning, the dental hygienists and Dr. Yen are very patient-oriented - and this is based on my experiences with dental personnel in the past - in that they will make sure you are comfortable amidst the whole process. They will ask, for example, for you to raise your left hand if you are feeling any sort of discomfort, as well as will tap your chin when they want you to close/open wider your mouth. Another [notable] difference with Union Street Dental is that during your specific visit your room will have speakers busting music out of them. What kind of music, you ask? Music preferences derived from the initial questionnaire you filled out, that is! This means that essentially every time I am at Union Street Dental my music preferences (apparently stuck in the early 2000s) of Neyo, Jason Derulo, and Usher will be graciously welcoming my presence! Following my first visit at Union Street Dental, I was given a complementary Soniccare electronic toothbrush. Yup. But what takes the cake is that during the cleaning, your room is equipped with a private TV above you with Netflix - yes, that's right, you can Netflix and Chill while your teeth are being cleaned (a different kind of Netflix and Chill). Do be mindful, however, to not watch anything comical: I remembered my last visit I was watching Bojack Horseman and ultimately ended up bursting in laughter while my teeth were being deep cleaned. If you're looking for a spa experience, this is the dentist for you. If you're looking for a thorough cleaning and dentistry you can trust, you might consider going elsewhere. The office is cute and modern with lots of amenities. The cleaning lasted maybe 20 mins and didn't feel thorough. The Dr came in and glanced quickly at my teeth and the pictures and declared I have 8 cavities. I've never had a cavity in my life so naturally I was shocked and skeptical. I went and saw a different Dr for a second opinion and they said I don't have any cavities, that what may have been referred to as cavities are just stains on my molars, which adds up bc there is no pain or sensitivity. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a dentist that is trust worthy and just go to a real spa! read more

Is it weird to love going to the dentist? Because now that I use Union Street Dental, I love my dentist visits. The office is utterly adorable and comfortable. Each room has personalized music and a television to distract yourself from the dental care. They even have cozy blankets and warm face towels to optimize your comfort. Most importantly, the care here is unparalleled. The dental hygienists (especially Charlotte) are exceedingly friendly and do a wonderful job cleaning my teeth. On my first visit, the staff took a full set of x-rays and photos which were completely covered by my insurance. Whereas previous dentists have brushed off my TMJ pain, Charlotte vand Dr. Yen identified the source at my first visit. I was fitted for a custom night guard which was worth every penny as it has eliminated my pain. I've also had cavities filled and teeth repaired here. Dr. Yen makes the experience incredibly painless and as comfortable as possible. I genuinely cannot recommend this dental office highly enough. read more

I've had plenty of horrible dentist experiences. I've received unnecessary fillings, incorrect placement of crowns, and many other terrible stories. Dr. Yen Nguyen-Tran has been the exception. She is beyond incredible, patient centered, and listens to my concerns thoroughly. She takes great pride in establishing that I'm comfortable and that the environment reflects that. I made an emergency appointment at union street dental because I am having extreme pain in one of my teeth. To the point where I can't eat or drink anything at all on the right side of my mouth. The dentist did tests on my tooth, one of which was extremely painful ice on the tooth, which amplified the pain in my tooth even more to the point where today I can't even drink water out of fear of it touching my tooth. At the end of the appointment, the dentist said she couldn't find anything, and after explainer to her that I have to literally drink hot water in order to drink water and not be in extreme pain, she patronizingly tells me "sometimes I brush my teeth with hot water too" and said I should get a moth guard. I feel completely ignored and not not listened to. Meanwhile the ice tests left my tooth in worse condition and I am still only able to use one side of my mouth. Horrible experience. read more

WOW! Who would have thought that going to the dentist could be such an enjoyable experience?! I'm literally so excited that a dental office and dental team like this exists in Seattle. The office is beautiful. Everything from the decor down to the energy in the office feels like that of a yoga studio. The space is airy and calming and I waked out of there wishing I worked in a place like that. So how do you top having such a beautiful office? You have the most amazing dentist and team, obviously. I couldn't believe how friendly the ENTIRE staff was. Dr. Yen made me feel very comfortable and I could tell that she really cares about the health of her patients. Love this place! I've been going here for a couple years and every visit is fabulous. Lily is so sweet and she always knows who I am even though we only see each other every 6 months. The hygienists are gentle and Dr. Yen is very informative when she checks my teeth. I wasn't very mindful of my brushing habits but they'll pinpoint me to the areas that need a little more attention. I was developing a cavity on one of my molars and I was so grateful that we caught it in time so I could avoid the filling! They are also super dog friendly which is a huge plus read more

This is a long overdue review. Dr. Yen Nguyen-Tran is the sweetest, kindest, and most considerate dentist I have ever gone to. I had a metal wire(given after braces) that always come off easily whenever glued by other dentists over the years, Dr. Tran made sure that it is glued to my teeth permanently this time and without ever shifting again. Dr. Tran is incredibly honest and transparent about every aspect of the dental care she provides. She gives you all your options, takes the time to walk you through every step, and discusses all the risks and benefits so that you are comfortable and well-informed with the procedure. Union Street Dental is the most aesthetically pleasing and state-of-the art dental practice I have ever seen. It is evident that a lot of thought went into every detail of the practice. I've never been one to care that well for my teeth and I had some issues with my teeth that I could no longer ignore. (huge cavity and chipped teeth) Lily in the front desk was very quick in getting back to me and getting me scheduled next day. All the assistants and Dr Yen was extremely friendly. I have had dentist in the past that give me a hard time of not being as attentive as I should be but this was not the feel at this place. I felt they only cared about making me comfortable and getting my teeth back in order. So far I have had a couple teeth fill and two large crowns on my front teeth, My teeth have never sat so well within my mouth. I no longer have discomfort and can smile with my teeth now. From the moment you walk in, you get a sense that this is not your normal dental office. Warm environment and modern interior put you at ease. You get to pick your own music and have a private TV while in the dental chair. My husband said it was the most comfortable numbing experience he has had for a filling (and he has had quite a few fillings). Dr Yen is amazing! First of all I do not like going to the dentist like most people. The thought of the needle and drilling... bad. But Dr Yen is so good that I enjoy going to the dentist now and I'm not afraid anymore. I've always always felt the needle when the Dentist injected my cheek ever since I was a kid. Hated it with a passion! Dr Yen was the very first one where I didn't feel anything. She was so careful and slow that I didn't even know that she injected the needle. She is super caring and was always asking about my confort. I had 3 cavities and she told me that my jaw may be sore from the fillings. I had no soreness and I was able to eat within the hour! The staff was very friendly and it's a new office so everything is brand new. They have these huge TVs in each room so you can not only see your X-rays as Dr Yen explains your needs, but you can watch shows as she works on you as a distraction. I love the warm face towels and blanket they give you to make the experience as comfortable as possible. I also like how Dr Yen gives you multiple options and let's you choose what you want. I had a last-minute appointment scheduled cause I was starting to get a toothache, and they fit me in as a new patient, and when they discovered I had a broken tooth they scheduled me immediately for a repair. They asked my music preferences to have it playing in the room AND they asked for my favorite tv show. They gave me a blanket while operating, headphones to listen to the show, and a hot towel to warm and soothe my face after the procedure. I'm normally scared and anxious about the dentist, but Dr. Yen and her team had me totally at ease. I already have a regular new-patient exam scheduled and am so glad I've found a dentist that cares for me as a person. read more

My experience here was great! The receptionist was really friendly and accommodating to the mess that I usually am (didn't have my dental id, a little late, etc). The clinic itself is gorgeous, which is so rare for any dental clinic. I was getting married a week after and they were able to get in a last minute appt for me to get Zoom White. They prepped me saying I needed to use sensodyne immediately for it to hurt less on the phone when I made the appt and told me to take some ibuprofen before. I was a little shocked when I was filling out the forms because they asked who my favorite singer was and what my favorite show was. Well, I got to the room and they had Britney Spears Radio on in the room and Animal Planet playing on the television screen. DREAM COME TRUE. It took about an 1.5-2 hours for the whole Zoom White procedure and I left with very white teeth and trays with bleach to keep my teeth white. Yen, the dentist came around many times to make sure my teeth were okay and to make sure I wasn't hurting to bad. While they hurt a little bit after because of the bleach and the UV rays applied to my teeth, i was perfectly fine the next day and ready to go on with my busy life! I would HIGHLY recommend Union Street because you can tell they truly care about service. read more

I have been going to Dr. Yen when she was in Tacoma. But I was so unhappy with my services after she left. So now I drive 1 hour to go see her in Seattle! Her dental office is SO cute and SO clean. Her staff and my hygienist made sure I was totally comfortable from beginning to end. This is the most comfortable dental experience I've ever had in my life! Union Street Dental is like the Judy Jetson of dental offices. I didn't know a dental experience could be so lavish with a TV playing my favorite show while music plays in the background. All the distractions really help to drown out any of the dental noises. Dr. Yen Nguyen is truly a pleasure. She is very informative and gentle with her technique. Plus, after my teeth cleaning I got a choice of a free teeth whitening kit or an electric tooth brush as a promotion that was running. When going back for some fillings, I didn't even feel the needle going in for the numbing medication. I am beyond impressed with the level of service all around. Dr. Yen is an excellent dentist. I have always dreaded general dentistry and she is extremely dedicated towards ensuring your appointment is as comfortable as possible. She's also pretty funny! Best dental experience in a long time! It almost feels like a mini spa at this office. They treat you right and are affordable. They offer a variety of music or Netflix during your treatments. I've always dreaded my bi-annual dental check-ups until I came across Union St. Dental. I've been going for a couple years and I can tell Dr. Yen is passionate and dedicated to her practice through her ability to provide detailed, yet gentle service, ensuring a painless, seamless experience every appointment. During my last visit she informed me on my white spot "cavities" from having braces and thoroughly walked me through her process of filling them in before placing invisalign and made sure I left with no questions whatsoever. My intake paperwork had some interesting questions such as 'favorite tv show?', 'favorite artist/music genre?' And figuring they were doing research for their office playlist I obliged only to get seated and comfy in my exam chair only to hear my favorite artist playing and my favorite show displayed on the flatscreen in front of my chair. Finally I made an appointment at Union Street Dental and boy, did I find the right place! I have some potentially bad dental problems but both my hygienist Erin and Dr. Yen did a fantastic job of making me feel comfortable and put my fears at rest by focusing on the positive things rather than the negative. I'd been looking forward to trying the new dental office in my hood and I'm very happy I gave them a go. Everyone I dealt with there was super friendly and down to earth. The equipment is state of the art, and I feel the prices are fair. I chose their yearly membership option, so for $399 I get 2 cleanings, all the exrays I need and 10% off all their other services. All that plus no parking to pay for. If it hadn't rained that day, I'd have walked. A great addition to the area, glad they are there! read more

I don't have an issue with Dr. Yen personally, she seems very kind. But I don't like her policies and some of her staff. I'm not sure if the front-desk person is still there but she wasn't very unsympathetic and quite difficult. When I came here for my first check-up, I was told I had three cavities that needed work. Dr. Yen put then in order of one another, which was great. But I couldn't get an appointment for two months. Seriously!? I then wound up sick with ear infections and a bronchitis so had to cancel my two subsequent appointments, each were set out at least 2-3 weeks each time due to her schedule. I then asked the front desk if Dr. Yen could just look at my tooth as I'd developed asthma from the bronchitis I caught. I was told, "If you are scheduled to get it worked on, that's what you do.. period. You can't just have her look at it. Pick one or the other." That really turned me off. I wound up having the work done by another dentist and this was four months later after all the hassle. I now have to have my tooth pulled because of the long wait times. I wish I had never waited for these appointments and just gone back to my original dentist, despite the longer drive. It's very easy for downtown Seattle dentists to fall into the trap of the 'revolving door' and never ending stream of of patients. They want more and more business vs being courteous to the patients they have. read more
