I went to a dentist previously that gave me some crowns that look like they don't belong in my mouth. Just terrible fake color that looks like plastic. Dr. Emard has made my mouth, and teeth look like mine, and made me feel way more confident. She spent a significant amount of time defending and explaining the membership program, instead of just apologizing, appreciating the feedback, and wishing me well. This is a first class dental operation. I worked right in the area before COVID and never once thought of leaving this practice for a location closer to home. I've been so impressed by West Edge's staff, cleanliness / PPE, and the quality of care. Dr. Emard is an expert in the field and has provided me with a great dental plan over the past 3+ years. She is always accessible and performs a great check on her patients during a routine cleaning. Dr. Emard and Wendy also guided me through a very pleasant experience when I decided to get Invisalign. It was the easiest 10 week process and I was very appreciative of Dr's product knowledge and communication of how the process would play out. It went even better than expected. Shannon is a gem within this office. She is a great communicator on appointment bookings, billing practices, and insurance coverages. I've never once been surprised and that's a credit to her upfront approach. Karen is my hygienist. She goes above and beyond on my routine cleanings to the point where I told her straight up: "you're the best hygienist I've ever had!" Always a nice conversation as well. She's been a great recent addition to the team. This is the kind of city small business we all need to continue to support as we come back from the pandemic. Myself and my wife have been coming here for many years, since 2008 with Dr. Leiker, then with Dr. Emard. We both have had much work done over the years, have always had a great visit, but no longer live in the area. However, even though we have had to commute for every appointment, there is no other dental practice that we would even consider going to. I have had Delta Dental for many years, and many practices both dental and medical do not always remain "in-network" in perpetuity. When their new Membership Plan was being rolled out, both the friendly & professional front desk gentleman James, and the always jovial and warm Dr. Emard explained it to us, we both decided to sign up - and I'm so glad we did! You cannot beat the value offered. As a diabetic, I have to have my teeth cleaned 4 times/year, as opposed to most people just needing 3 times/year, and for my Membership monthly rate of $99/month all those visits are covered, plus so many other benefits! (and that's the most expensive plan, yet is still cheaper than what I used to pay on insurance). I'm saving about $500 a year. All of the Membership Plans offer great value and savings, and my wife is saving almost $600 a year on her plan! If you are using Yelp as a barometer to choose to come to West Edge Dental, there's a reason why they have a 5 star rating! They take very good care of me, and my teeth! Everyone at this practice is so nice, every one of our visits is enjoyable, and not many people can say that about going to the dentist! read more

Couldn't even get started with this dentist due to how rude and unprofessional the front desk person was (Shanon). We tried to verify that our insurance would be accepted and she rattled off a bunch of dental insurance jargon and unclear instructions about how we could verify this information. We had our dental card with all the information she should need to verify this info and in the past have just provided that info to a dentist office and have never had a problem. At one point my wife said "I don't understand what you mean, I don't work for a dental office." and the front desk person retorted "And I don't work for an insurance company" in an incredibly rude tone. Really? Would love to meet the dentists because of all the previous great reviews, but front desk staff matters for coordinating appointments, etc - and this person was just mean and insulting. To the business: please let us know if you get a new front desk person and we'll try again. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that I'm super picky about dentists, having worked for one for a number of years. Dr. Emard is as good as it gets - she's gentle, friendly, has a great chair-side manner, and you can tell that she and the staff work well together, because the whole operation works like a well-oiled machine. Here are the hallmarks of a good dental office: 1. My appointment never starts late - this means that the staff knows how to schedule, and that my time is valued, as is theirs. 2. The dentist is never rushed - again this goes back to both the scheduling process, and also the doctor's ability to work precisely and efficiently. 3. I'm never confused about procedures, options, or payment - it's always clear to me what needs to be done, why, what alternatives I have, and what it will cost. 4. Last but not least - as much as is possible, I enjoy visiting the office. Great dentist! After a few less-than-stellar experiences at previous dentists combined with some serious tooth pain, I was simultaneously over it and desperate. I asked friends for a suggestion and two of mine recommended Dr. Leiker without hesitation. Although her location near the Market isn't great for parking (note: the garage just behind their office isn't WILDLY expensive for downtown), I made an appointment and they were able to fit me in fairly quickly. When I arrived, I met Dr. Leiker in the room just behind the interior door. We had tea and talked, and she really listened to what I'd been going through and what my experience was with dentistry in general. She handed me off to one of their wonderful staff members (all women, YESSSSS) and I got some weird Tron-like head x-rays in a machine I stood beneath. It's the future, y'all. She met me in the exam room and showed me what was up - one of my wisdom teeth was breaking the surface and I was having a combination of teething pain and irritation from things getting stuck beneath the gums. They gave me a short, focused cleaning and a referral to a doctor for wisdom tooth extraction. I've since been back twice for my regular cleaning and an exam with the doctor. Although I have yet to actually get the wisdom teeth taken out (I'm a baby), there is zero judgment passed in this office and they are very kind about the state of your mouth, whatever it is. I've had fantastic hygienists with great personalities and they really help you think through your flossing/brushing/mouth-care routine to find something that will be most convenient for you - I was once sent home with a bag full of about six different flossing options just so I could see what felt best for me. They even take digital photos of your teeth during exams, which is much easier for me to look at and understand than an x-ray. They avoid cavity filling unless it's absolutely necessary and have instead started me on a prescription, yet somehow wonderful-tasting, toothpaste that's strengthening the weak spots in my enamel and hopefully patching up what could otherwise have been a cavity. They seem to have a lot of nice stuff in place (blankets, music, etc.) to help even the most nervous patients feel comfortable. Easy scheduling, easy visits, thorough and caring treatment. I can't recommend Dr. Leiker and her staff enough. read more

I have been a patient at West Edge dental since September of 2013. I started seeing Dr. Emard and her team for Invisalign treatment, which is incredible, and couldn't be happier. I have a history of dental phobia and Invisalign treatment was a big mental hurdle to clear. Dr. Emard and her team couldn't have made me more comfortable throughout the experience. Dr. Leiker's office is welcoming and comforting! There is hot tea in the waiting room, a friendly face at the front desk, and a cozy sitting area. Her staff take time to talk with you about your teeth and life in general. Their regular cleanings are gentle, and because the office is such a nice place you actually want to have your 6 month check-ups! I have had a few fillings there too, and Dr. Leiker offers comforts such as a blanket and ear phones during the procedure. As someone who gets nervous for dental exams I was immediately put at ease when greeted by Kathi and Veronica at the front desk. My exam with Kristen was incredible (I know that is far fetched for a dental visit... But seriously). She was so friendly and aware of my needs and comfort throughout the cleaning. Just left my new dentist's office where Dr. Jessica Emard at West Edge Dental made my teeth squeaky clean. LIKE A BOSSSSSSS. First impression of the place was that it didn't smell, look, or feel like a normal dentist office. No sterile smell. No1987 white washed cabinets. No clinical feel at all to it. In fact, it felt kind of like being in someones condo downtown the way you could look out the windows at the streets and people walking around outside. Second impression was the home made brownies and ice cream that was offered to me as I filled in my paper work. (okay perhaps that is just something I imagine people handing me on a daily basis and in fact didn't happen. But it should happen at every business.) Dr. Emard used this cleaning tool that I've never even seen before. It was some sort of super sonic vibrating water pick that she used to clean my teeth instead of the typical curved metal tool that is sharper than Satan's horns which dentists just love to jab you with. She was very gentle and normally I leave the doctors office bleeding from every inch of my gums, but not today. I was in and out in a timely fashion and I don't know why people are so scared to go to the dentist. If they are perhaps they should consider coming here instead. I'm the guy that absolutely despises going to the dentist! Anxiety, terror and dread fill my mind, even thinking about going to the dentist! The whole office is just full of happy and helpful people, making my stressful visits to the dentist a whole lot easier! I'll start with saying that Kathi, at the front desk, is very welcoming and always has a smile. I've only ever seen Kristen, for cleanings and she is fantastic! Super friendly and genuinely interested in you before getting down to work. I just discovered that they will use a numbing agent on my gums that makes cleanings a million times better for me!! (highly recommend it!) Thank you! Jessica B is always there to help start out the cleanings and she is great too! The docs are great, they are friendly and nice. (getting repetitive, I know!) They do offer gas for procedures to help alleviate some stress too. They offer headphones for you to listen to your own music while they work too! Overall, if you work downtown and need a great place to get your teeth done, during your lunch hour or afterwork, these ladies are awesome! Go see them! read more

Dr. Emard is the best dentist I have ever visited. Her staff was so easy to work with and friendly. The location is convenient and her office was clean. Shannon made my appointment over the phone. She was so pleasant and helped me out when I was having trouble with my insurance. I appreciated her calling before my appointment so we could get it all figured out. When I got to the office, Shannon was so sweet and welcoming. Dr. Emard did a new patient evaluation and was very thorough. I appreciated how she explained everything she was doing and talked about how to better the health of my teeth and gums. When it comes down to it. I really don't mind going to the dentist thaaaaattt much. But I always put it off. Sometimes for years. I make it up in my brain that I SHOULD go but I don't. I decide that my tooth sensitivity is reason enough to put it off. And then it just becomes this silly little cycle of me talking myself out of going to the dentist. Which is something we all HAVE to do. I made an appointment with Dr. Jessica Emard at West Edge Dental. It was such an easy, comfortable experience that I am absolutely positive there will be no postponing my next appointment (no matter what great excuse I come up with). I know i'm not alone in this & I think a lot of people have this avoidance even more severely than I. But I promise you- I assure you. Dr. Emard & her team are soooo nice, warm & welcoming . The office is soooo pretty. & the location is perfectly perched in Seattle downtown near the pier. They even do those cool digital xrays that are 85% less radiation and you get to see everything right away. Dr. Emard is super considerate, knowledgeable, accommodating & dare I say- even gentle towards whatever it is that you decided in your brain- that keeps you out of the dental chair. I know that insurance & all that stuff gets confusing but Kathi at the front desk knows EVERYTHing about insurance & even if they don't take your specific insurance- there seems to always be some way to make it work. I feel really boring writing a review about a Dental office- but I really feel that if you are putting off that cleaning or exam- like I always do- you really really don't have to have that be a "thing" anymore. I'm not a big fan of dentists but they sure make you feel differently here. I have ignored my teeth for years and got no admonishing from the Doctor. They are just there to help and work out a treatment plan for you that actually works for you. I'm excited I've found a new dentist. The office is beautiful and relaxing. Dr. Emard and her staff are extremely knowledgeable, gentle, communicative and responsive. On my initial exam, I learned I needed seven fillings redone! I would usually run from a dentist office that told me that on the first visit, but Dr. Emard took photos, x-rays and patiently explained my numerous questions. To sum it up, the dentist I went to 10 years prior had put amalgam fillings over my silver fillings and the silver fillings were cracking. All of them needed to be replaced as new cavities could form under the cracks (and we later found out that some did indeed have cavities under). All seven are done now and I can post with certainty that Dr. Emard is the best dentist I have ever been to. Thank you to everyone at West Edge. read more

Keep in mind when you read I went here in 2011... I have since learned they are under new ownership so the experiences may be different. They are very kind here and do a great job in checking your teeth and making recommendations. They spent time understanding my dental history why I changed offices after my dentist of 20 years retired and the new dentist that bought his practice didn't work for me. So I came to West Edge, They were good, but when I finished my first appointment, they gave me a 10K plan (yes not exaggerating, seriously $10,000 that I could slowly work on and take time paying off but wow) for fixing my not bad teeth. I felt taken aback. It's not like I came in with pain or big problems so this seemed like overkill to me. I decided that this kind of dentistry wasn't a good fit for me. read more

My only complaint is that the office is VERY aggressive about follow-up appointments,.....sending postcards, constant emails, and phone calls to both my home and even my place of employment!!
