We went to Inka at 5th street station when the other restaurant we had planned to attend was closed. I got the mixed seafood seviche and plantains. My husband got steak with an egg, taco and plantains, a side salad and a Peruvian beer. Every thing was very tasty and delicious. Pro: clean interior. Con: no street parking, price, waiter stare at you for a monetary tip at check out. Wanted to try this restaurant during to the many good reviews. This restaurant has no street or parking lot so you have to park in the parking garage which is 3 dollar per hour. The restaurant is a bit hard to find since it hidden and the store sign is a bit hard to find. Upon entering we were seated promptly with a window view of the street. For appetizer, we ordered the shrimp & Calamary and for the entree I had the Lomo saltado. The appetizer was good but the price was a bit high in my opinion. The entree came out looking appetizing but taste wise was a bit disappointing. The fries were bland and not crispy. The meat cube sauce was over seasoned and even mix with plain rice it still was over powering. Staff was not very attentive to our needs since they only check on us one time and it was toward the end when we were almost finished. Lastly, when paying for the check the waiter was using one of those hand held device to pay and when the screen as for a tip the waiter was just staring at you which is a bit read in my opinion. I had waiter look away when tip screen appear at other restaurants which is good manner. All in all, had an ok experience here but probably won't be back in the future. read more

Excellent experience! I ate here with native Peruvian friends and they loved the food! The food was delicious! I had the Pescado a la chorrillana Grilled fish fillet in a red sauce with onions and tomatoes served with rice side. Perfectly seasoned and so healthy. My friends had the ceviche and said it was excellent. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The place was so modern and clean. My partner and I had lunch here and were greatly pleased. The food was to die for, he had the All-Three Chaufa and I had the Linguini Verde con Bistec. Both had serving sizes that were more than enough for the both of us. Not only that, but it was truly incredible. Personally, mine had the best pesto I've ever had (sorry Grandma)! We also had the Jack and Coke and also the Passion Sour. The drinks were well made and came out quickly. Our only complaint was that our server, whom we did not get the name of unfortunately, was very slow to come back after our meal and give us our check. The restaurant only had two other small tables and as a service industry worker myself I would've totally understood if they were busy. Located in a bustling part of town adjacent to the UVA campus. Passing through Charlottesville leaving Richmond and a soccer tournament. Actually excited enough to make reservations to be sure we ate here, as perhaps surprisingly, we are quite familiar with Peruvian food. It's even a more casual spot, brown laminate tables, than expected but really is fine. Ordered Pisco Sours, a primary drink from Peru and not something common in the States. Sadly after ordering we were informed they were out of Pisco. So we went with other drinks. Unfortunately they didn't arrive until we'll after dinner was served. In fact, the ceviche mixto appetizer came out with dinner. So we received all food at once but no drinks. The food is good. The service is uneven. Look, it's a casual restaurant so service is what it is, but this will quickly go to $30 per head before tip so some level of expectation is warranted. Ceviche mixto is tasty. Calamari, shrimp, clams and more. Lomo Saltado is delicious as well. The fries were stale though. Not freshly cooked. I'd still go but lower my expectations. I got the classic ceviche, a tangy fish filled dish. The cuts of fish were quite large, but the marinade was salty and delicious. Could definitely taste a lot of onion and lemon. The fried yucca appetizer reminded me of fried mantou with condensed milk which was very interesting. My theory is that it has something to do with the dipping sauce? We were in town touring UVA and had our first meal in C-ville after checking in the Graduate Hilton hotel near the campus. This restaurant was about 2-min walk from our hotel, so super convenient as we didn't want to drive. We ordered three of their signature entries (Tacu Tacu Con Lomo, the Peruvian style paella and Lomo Saltado) and a traditional ceviche to share. All were delicious. I'm not Peruvian but this placed tasted pretty authentic to me! We ordered the yucca croquettes, seafood pella, and of course the classic Peruvian chicken. I wasn't a huge fan of the croquettes although it seemed well made, it just wasn't for me personally. The pella and chicken were amazing though! Full of flavors! I saw some other reviews about the pricing and it was probably on the pricier end but probably on par with other places given the current inflation prices. Also, I want to point out for some reason there was a lot of smoke coming out of the kitchen into the dining area. For my main meal ordered the Lomito Andino! The risotto was perfectly cooked and very flavorful! And the filet minon was cooked nicely - it was medium rare as I requested. The huacaina sauce was bold! Then for my dessert I had the alfajores - the shortbread was done so well and the flavor of the dulce in between was rich and so tasty. If you've got a friend visiting cville and you want to take them out to eat, this is one of those places. Steak linguini was great. I mean there's nothing more to say besides that it was really good linguini. Pasta cooked well and steak was decent. Only complaint is that my steak was a bit over cooked and I think the dish would be a lot better if there was some to go with the steak such as aji verde. Unique and adventurous is the only way I can describe the causa de pollo. It's a cold dish with creamy potato and chicken. I wasn't a big fan of it, but mainly because I don't think it's really for my palette. If you're feeling adventurous and have 10$ to spare, I encourage you get this dish and try it out. read more

The only thing I would change is that the seafood ought to have been in bite size pieces. For entrees, we had 2 meat dishes , Lomo Saltado & Tacu Tacu con Lomo, both very good but very similar tasting. We also had Chicharron de Pescado & Jalea de Mariscos. Both also very good ! I mean who doesn't like fried fish/ seafood. They were lightly fried and seasoned perfectly. Both servings were quite hefty too! For dessert, we had flan - so yummy! I'd consider it probably one of the higher quality restaurants on the corner. Whenever I bring guests here, we like to start off with the Anticucho appetizer. The veal is tender and juicy and the hollandaise pairs greatly with the potatoes. Just wish they added more veal cuts because it was really good. My friend also ordered the Octopus Anticuchero. I don't like this as much as the veal. The sauce that came with it was a little too sweet and didn't seem to pair well with the octopus or the potatoes. The octopus was a little too charred for my taste. Nicely chewy and not too rubbery. This time for the entre, I ordered the ceviche mixto. I think it was the right liminess. I think the proportions of onions to seafood was a little extreme. Portion a little too small that I would have had to eat another appetizer in order to get full. Overall, staff was wonderful. I was totally overtaken by the variety and taste of the Peruvian food can be found at the Inka Grill! The Inka Grill is a far cry from what I had come to expect from Peruvian restaurants, previously I had only found places that focused on the wonderful Peruvian roasted chicken and a few authentic sides. If that is what you are looking for you can find it at the Inka Grill, but if you want to delve into a bigger variety of Peruvian cuisine this is your place. I did not think to take pictures until we had started eating so please do not judge the presentation of the dishes from my pics. We started with the Octupus Anticuchero, the delicately sliced Octupus with the Aji panca and garlic vinegar sauce was wonderful. Between the thee of us it was more than enough. We all had different dishes, Ceviche de Pescado Inti with it's yellow pepper cream with citrus juices was amazing as was the Leche de tigre ceviche was to die for. Their use of authentic Aji Amarillo peppers really highlighted their foods, delicious. The Tacu tacu con lomo with its soft pieces of steak sautéed with onions, cilantro, tomatoes covered in an oriental sauce introduced us to the Asian influences in Peruvian food. We all shared our dishes as the diversity and depth of the flavors were very interesting and tasty. I've not been to many restaurants that everyone talked about following the meal. It was so delightful that we ordered more the next day through Uber Eats. Our stay in Charlottesville was short, I hope they bring one to the Raleigh Durham area soon or else I'll be making more trips to Charlottesville. Went here for a quick dinner while on a long weekend trip. The service was extremely friendly. We were going to order to go since we had our beloved pup with us and they didn't have outdoor seating but they allowed us inside with our furry friend (maybe because the place was empty). The ambiance as far as the establishment was good, it was relaxing, nothing too fancy nor too run of the mill fast food place. We ordered the octopus which was very tasty, with crunchy on the outside soft inside potatoes, and a delicious chimichurri sauce, my only critique would be that if they had added a little sea salt to the potatoes it would have made the dish absolutely perfect. We also ordered the shrimp appetizer and it was just delicious. The combination of different flavors around your palate like the mashed potatoes with the tomatoes and onions pico was delicious. Their rotisserie chicken was the traditional Peruvian rotisserie chicken which is simple yet tasty. We had a side of tostones with fried yuca. To my surprise both were served with shredded cheese on top which I never had. We had to ask for it without cheese. The tostones were were great, my husband being puerta Rican and a great critique for tostones. The yuca needed to be a little more crispy fried. It's not just a grilled filet of fish, but it also comes with some calamari rings, octopus bites, a few mussels and some shrimp. The creamy fish sauce is delicious. The fish comes with steamed rice in the side. I mixed it into the fish sauce. The aji de gallina came with a nice creamy sauce and steamed white rice. A very tasteful plate as well.
