I've lived nearby for years and have been meaning to check out Campesino Chicken. With Uptown Cafe closed on Sundays, I finally popped in. I got the quarter chicken (white meat) with fried rice and pinto beans. While the chicken could have had crispier skin and been a little juicier, it was still a very tasty and satisfying meal. When I return, I'll try the cilantro rice and get a side of ceviche. Service was quick and friendly. Tables were clean. All in all, it's on par with the majority of Peruvian chicken joints I've been to, but I don't mean that as a dig. I'm planning on retiring sooner than later! read more

Ordered the chicken bowl - not the best decision. Sour cream was the only sauce - swimming in it along with cheese. I like my bowls bit more healthy, some salsa would have added nice tang, freshness. I believe a long time ago, the restaurant used to be a chipotle and you can still tell by the layout of their food offerings and the middle island for their drinks and utensils. It has some seating inside but definitely more like a fast food/ take out restaurant. The worker was really nice and when we wanted to know what drinks they had cycling in the back they even offered us some free samples since we weren't familiar with what it might taste like! 1/4 dark pollo chicken - really nicely seasoned skin on the chicken and juicy dark meat. the portion is a bit small. 3.5/5 Fried plantain - love the seared bits which was pretty distinctive to the rest of the plaintain. cooked so perfectly and very sweet 3.5/5 Roasted potatoes - nicely seasoned but bettter when dipped with a little salt/ ketchup. Cooked super nicely with every single potato being soft and fluffy all the way through. 3.25/5 arroz chaufa - they make this fresh when you order it! you do have to wait a few minutes for them to fry the rice and combine the chicken and steak but means you get a nice very hot fried rice. most of the steak and chicken was good and flavorful but I did have a few random pieces of steak that were a bit too chewy. I purchased carryout for lunch. The chicken was delicious. The side of fried rice was very good with several big pieces of chicken. The potatoes were also good. I had been thinking of pizza or a deli sandwich for lunch, but the chicken from Campesino was a fresh and healthy alternative. We found a new and healthy alternative to pizza and fried chicken. The service was a little slow because of the lunch crowd and the fact that the chicken is cut up after you order it - it has not been setting in a big tray somewhere or drying out under a heat lamp. This restaurant is a pretty solid Peruvian Chicken place! I have tried other places where the chicken can be dry, but this chicken was tender, moist, and flavorful. I have had better yucca in other places before but this place does it decent. I just wish the inside of the yucca was more fluffy. I don't think I've ever had Peruvian chicken that disappointed and Campesino is no exception. The space is nice with some seating, but it seems most people order for takeout. The process of ordering and receiving my food was pretty quick, I was in there for maybe 10 minutes. I ordered a whole chicken with two large sides (yucca and cilantro rice) to go. This totaled to around $28 after tax. The chicken was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked all around, and the chicken breast wasn't dry at all. The yucca was fresh, hot, and crispy. Not only is the food reasonably priced, but it's absolutely delicious. The chicken on its own is delicious and so flavorful. This is not your average rotisserie chicken, so those that complained about the price, clearly haven't had a Giant rotisserie chicken, Wegmans or Costco lately. I ordered the 1/4 dark, which came with two sides and my husband ordered the chicken and cheese sub, which came with fries. I went with black beans and cilantro rice and they were both wonderful. Normally, I am a huge sauce fan, but this food didn't even need sauce. Though, I have to say, the yellow and pink sauces, did deliver. Yum! We were in the area and spotted Campesino Chicken. Took out our trusty Yelp app and it's Yelp Fam approved so we definitely had to check it out. Plenty of indoor seating is available. The restaurant is clean and organized. Employees are friendly and incredibly helpful. Our takeout order was ready in no time. Everything was neatly wrapped. Their chicken is delicious, well seasoned. Their homemade sauces are excellent and go well with almost everything. Side dishes are flavorful. Some faves were their Chaufa Rice, Fries, and Platanitos. Tried this place for the first time today. It is located a few stores away from one of my favorite Thai joints, Ocha Thai Kitchen & Cuisine. I ordered a 1/2 Pollo Regular with two sides to go. The chicken was very tasty although it was not "hot out of the oven" hot. The two sides, broccoli and plantanitos were also very good. I will definitely go back there soon. read more

This is the best Peruvian Chicken we've ever had. We usually order the chicken burrito with a whole chicken for later. It is delicious. The fries have always been good and never soggy or stale so we always finish eating them. Their sauce have never disappointed us - it's never watered down like other places. Tried for the first time for dinner .. I was the only customer there. While looking through their food display, first thing I noticed were gnats flying around and on the food. So avoided anything sitting on the bar. Ordered their Peruvian chicken and some freshly cooked fries. Took it home to try and was so disappointed. The steak had good flavor and was very tender. My chicken was also nice and moist. Very good size portions and they give you three sauces which are all delicious too!! Disclaimers: My husband did the ordering, we ordered take out. (I usually look at a menu but we were looking for a quick fix at a new place. And I think food tastes better dine-in) We got a whole chicken, yucca fries, and pinto beans. The seasoning on the chicken was amazing. I didn't need any of the sauces (and I love sauce). The white meat was ALMOST dry, so if you're afraid of dry meat, stick to dark meat. They offer 3 sauces, all mayo-based. The red one is probably tomatoy (tastes like fresh tomato, not ketchup or tomato paste), yellow is mustardy, and the green is herbs. I wish the green sauce was more spicy, other places the green sauce is usually the spicy one. The yucca fries probably taste best dine-in. The steam from the fresh fries took away the crunch. And they were a bit dry. Pinto beans were good, nothing noteworthy. read more
