Ordered the chicken bowl - not the best decision. Sour cream was the only sauce - swimming in it along with cheese. I like my bowls bit more healthy, some salsa would have added nice tang, freshness. So Plan B, scrape off sour cream and dump in green sauce - ah much better. Oh well my fault, should have read description more closely or just stuck what they do well - whole pit chicken.
I've lived nearby for years and have been meaning to check out Campesino Chicken. With Uptown Cafe closed on Sundays, I finally popped in. I got the quarter chicken (white meat) with fried rice and pinto beans. While the chicken could have had crispier skin and been a little juicier, it was still a very tasty and satisfying meal. When I return, I'll try the cilantro rice and get a side of ceviche. Service was quick and friendly. Tables were clean. All in all, it's on par with the majority of Peruvian chicken joints I've been to, but I don't mean that as a dig. I'm planning on retiring sooner than later!
I believe a long time ago, the restaurant used to be a chipotle and you can still tell by the layout of their food offerings and the middle island for their drinks and utensils. It has some seating inside but definitely more like a fast food/ take out restaurant. The worker was really nice and when we wanted to know what drinks they had cycling in the back they even offered us some free samples since we weren't familiar with what it might taste like! 1/4 dark pollo chicken - really nicely seasoned skin on the chicken and juicy dark meat. the portion is a bit small. 3.5/5 Fried plantain - love the seared bits which was pretty distinctive to the rest of the plaintain. cooked so perfectly and very sweet 3.5/5 Roasted potatoes - nicely seasoned but bettter when dipped with a little salt/ ketchup. Cooked super nicely with every single potato being soft and fluffy all the way through. 3.25/5 arroz chaufa - they make this fresh when you order it! you do have to wait a few minutes for them to fry the rice and combine the chicken and steak but means you get a nice very hot fried rice. most of the steak and chicken was good and flavorful but I did have a few random pieces of steak that were a bit too chewy. The rice was fried very nicely where you can taste each grain and the dish is pretty flavorful. they do give you a lot though and by the mid/end it got a bit boring. 3.5/5
This restaurant is a pretty solid Peruvian Chicken place! I have tried other places where the chicken can be dry, but this chicken was tender, moist, and flavorful. I have had better yucca in other places before but this place does it decent. I just wish the inside of the yucca was more fluffy. I like how this place is nearby and is affordable so I will probably come back next to get my chicken fix.
I don't think I've ever had Peruvian chicken that disappointed and Campesino is no exception. The space is nice with some seating, but it seems most people order for takeout. The process of ordering and receiving my food was pretty quick, I was in there for maybe 10 minutes. I ordered a whole chicken with two large sides (yucca and cilantro rice) to go. This totaled to around $28 after tax. The chicken was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked all around, and the chicken breast wasn't dry at all. The yucca was fresh, hot, and crispy. The cilantro rice was cooked well and lightly flavored. You get all three sauces with your order, all of which were delicious (the green one is the only spicy one).
We stopped in for a late lunch, after running errands. We both got the lunch sized chicken bowl. It was great! $14. The lettuce was fresh. Beans and rice were savory. A decent amount of chicken for protein. We will go back again and try some other items from their menu. This place has ample seating. Nice informal ambiance. Cheerful and open. Service was okay, a tad slow because we were the only people there.
Love this place! As a peruvian, this place has one of the best chicken in the dmv! Its tender, juicy, and they make all their papas y yuccas a la carte! They also offer other recommended plates, sides, and drinks! Def check them out!
Not bad but had mixed review. I got the chicken...definitely the standout item here...but also got the lomo saltido which was tough and also dry. Wouldn't recommend it. Black beans are excellent as are the yucca fries. Service is generally quick and they have Inca Cola so a big plus for me.
Very impressed with the quality of the Peruvian chicken and all of the sides. We got a whole chicken, 4 large sides, and a 2-liter Inca cola for $38 out the door. Green sauce is the spiciest I have ever had. Chaufa fried rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. Everything taste fresh. The fried yuca is made fresh. Western Fairfax, you're welcome!
Yum! We were in the area and spotted Campesino Chicken. Took out our trusty Yelp app and it's Yelp Fam approved so we definitely had to check it out. Plenty of indoor seating is available. The restaurant is clean and organized. Employees are friendly and incredibly helpful. Our takeout order was ready in no time. Everything was neatly wrapped. Their chicken is delicious, well seasoned. Their homemade sauces are excellent and go well with almost everything. Side dishes are flavorful. Some faves were their Chaufa Rice, Fries, and Platanitos. They have some awesome specials, that include a whole chicken, 4 large sides, and a 2 Liter drink. Portions are generous and the price is right. We will be back!
Casual dining . Order a cilantro chicken side plantains and coleslaw. Very very flavorful. Decent portion size and price reasonable. Also took to go half the famous roast chicken amazing taste and portion . Many walk in To go while I was eating . Yes table a bit unclean , probably short of staffs . They constantly busy working cooking . Overall I like the food .

Half Chicken with fried yuca and plantains at Campesino Chicken in Centerville, VA. Chicken was super juicy and just enough seasoning to not be overly salty. Plantains and yuca we're both pretty standard, but good. A solid spot for Peruvian chicken. read more

Casual dining . Order a cilantro chicken side plantains and coleslaw. Very very flavorful. Decent portion size and price reasonable. Also took to go half the famous roast chicken amazing taste and portion . Many walk in To go while I was eating . Yes table a bit unclean , probably short of staffs . This is my third time visiting the place. I just discovered it few weeks ago. I really like Chaufa Rice and Peruvian chicken from the restaurant. I have tried few places but they don't really make it tasty and flavory as this one. Service is good and friendly no matter I just come to pick up my togo order. read more

If you are looking for delicious Peruvian food then you need to check out Campesino Chicken. We tried the lomo saltado and Pollo saltado and both were very tasty. The steak had good flavor and was very tender. My chicken was also nice and moist. Very good size portions and they give you three sauces which are all delicious too!! The aesthetic inside the restaurant is very welcoming and colorful. It's more of a quick grab type of place. Will return to try more food off the menu. read more

I got the quarter white meat chicken. The counterperson provided excellent service. She gave me a sample of the salsa criollo in addition to the two sides included. The chicken was very moist and tender. It needed the green salsa to bring out the flavor. The arroz chaufa (fried rice) was very good and very generous. The side salad was very fresh. read more
Great Peruvian chicken place. This was our first visit to this place, they have more side options than super chicken. We had the whole chicken with coriander rice, broccoli and roasted potatoes. The place felt clean and we enjoyed our food and the sauces provided, will definitely be back to try out their other sides. read more
