This restaurant is a pretty solid Peruvian Chicken place! I have tried other places where the chicken can be dry, but this chicken was tender, moist, and flavorful. I have had better yucca in other places before but this place does it decent. I just wish the inside of the yucca was more fluffy. I like how this place is nearby and is affordable so I will probably come back next to get my chicken fix.

I don't think I've ever had Peruvian chicken that disappointed and Campesino is no exception. The space is nice with some seating, but it seems most people order for takeout. The process of ordering and receiving my food was pretty quick, I was in there for maybe 10 minutes. I ordered a whole chicken with two large sides (yucca and cilantro rice) to go. This totaled to around $28 after tax. The chicken was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked all around, and the chicken breast wasn't dry at all. The yucca was fresh, hot, and crispy. The cilantro rice was cooked well and lightly flavored. You get all three sauces with your order, all of which were delicious (the green one is the only spicy one).

We stopped in for a late lunch, after running errands. We both got the lunch sized chicken bowl. It was great! $14. The lettuce was fresh. Beans and rice were savory. A decent amount of chicken for protein. We will go back again and try some other items from their menu. This place has ample seating. Nice informal ambiance. Cheerful and open. Service was okay, a tad slow because we were the only people there.

Love this place! As a peruvian, this place has one of the best chicken in the dmv! Its tender, juicy, and they make all their papas y yuccas a la carte! They also offer other recommended plates, sides, and drinks! Def check them out!

Not bad but had mixed review. I got the chicken...definitely the standout item here...but also got the lomo saltido which was tough and also dry. Wouldn't recommend it. Black beans are excellent as are the yucca fries. Service is generally quick and they have Inca Cola so a big plus for me.

Very impressed with the quality of the Peruvian chicken and all of the sides. We got a whole chicken, 4 large sides, and a 2-liter Inca cola for $38 out the door. Green sauce is the spiciest I have ever had. Chaufa fried rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. Everything taste fresh. The fried yuca is made fresh. Western Fairfax, you're welcome!

Great flavor. One chicken was quite dry, the other great. Yuca fries seemed stale and very dried out. Horchata was good.

Yum! We were in the area and spotted Campesino Chicken. Took out our trusty Yelp app and it's Yelp Fam approved so we definitely had to check it out. Plenty of indoor seating is available. The restaurant is clean and organized. Employees are friendly and incredibly helpful. Our takeout order was ready in no time. Everything was neatly wrapped. Their chicken is delicious, well seasoned. Their homemade sauces are excellent and go well with almost everything. Side dishes are flavorful. Some faves were their Chaufa Rice, Fries, and Platanitos. They have some awesome specials, that include a whole chicken, 4 large sides, and a 2 Liter drink. Portions are generous and the price is right. We will be back!

This is my third time visiting the place. I just discovered it few weeks ago. I really like Chaufa Rice and Peruvian chicken from the restaurant. I have tried few places but they don't really make it tasty and flavory as this one. Service is good and friendly no matter I just come to pick up my togo order.

The chef knows what they are doing!! I ordered the passion fruit pisco sour, it was perfectly blended with right hit of liquor and tart passion fruit. Delicious drink I could drink over and over again. I ordered the shrimp soup- it was different but yummy and filling. These portions are NOT small!!! The plantains were perfectly ripe and fried. They also provide tostado or little popped and fried corn kernels for a crunchy snack while you wait for your meal. Everyone's order looked amazing, the charcoal chicken looked seasoned perfectly and just the right amount of crispy skin to juicy meat. They have sauce bottles of the white, green, and red sauces to self serve. And these sauces are liquid GOLD. The green sauce has a Smokey flavor to it and the red was so spicy!!! The next time I went- I ordered the plate of fried fish and seafood. I think half the ocean was on that plate. The calamari was so fresh and the fried exterior was light and crunchy! The pickled onion that came with that plate was so delicious and lemony!! The inside of the restaurant is cozy decorated with Peruvian murals and keepsakes. It's very much a hole in the wall and I've driven by many times without really knowing what it was....NEVER AGAIN!! Try this spot out and support, you will not regret it. I'm getting the lomo saltado next :)

They have good drink options which was nice for a group which all had different tastes. We started with appetizers, including the chicken empanadas, the tuna tacos, and ceviche sampler. The chicken empanadas were good, if not particularly memorable. But had a nice crunch on the shell and the inside had a nice savory flavor and not dry. The tuna tacos, which didn't have the most appetizing color, was also tasty. The tuna was tender and balanced well with the crispy shell. The ceviche sampler was also delicious, each one having a different flavor profile. I liked the tigre de leche the best in terms of the acidity and brightness. I just wish the ceviche had some kind of vessel to eat it with. One of the ceviche had plantain chips which was nice but I wanted more. Without it, the texture is just one note. For the main dishes, we got the lomo saltado and the aji de gallina which are two, iconic Peruvian dishes. Both were just meh. The aji was the better of the two. The sauce was flavored well with the creaminess of the sauce not overwhelming the garlic and tumeric flavors. But the rice was SUPER dry, almost crunchy. The lomo saltado was even worse. The beef was overly cooked, some pieces were very sinewy and chewy. It was also overly salty and the veggie to meat ratio heavily favored the veggies and made the dish feel cheap. Overall, it was fine but given the options for Peruvian in DC, not sure this deserves 4 stars+.

I don't even have a huge appetite, and the amount of food I received was still surprisingly small. The service was also disappointing from the moment I arrived. The restaurant was completely empty, yet no one greeted me or acknowledged me when I walked in. I eventually had to walk over to the bar area myself to ask about my pickup order. The woman working there looked confused that I was even asking and mumbled a response I could barely understand. I figured maybe she was busy, so I waited, but the entire experience became increasingly uncomfortable. I stood there awkwardly for about 10 minutes while the employees talked amongst themselves and kept looking over at me, yet no one updated me on my order or even spoke to me. The worst part was the food itself. The potatoes in the Papa a la Huancaína were cold and partially raw. I literally had to finish cooking them in the microwave at work. The empanada was decent, and the alfajor would have gotten better marks if it weren't for the small hair I found on it, but overall the experience was not worth the price. Unfortunately, I wouldn't ever come back. Revash has better portions, better prices, and overall much better food.
