This place is absolutely amazing. I have family in Chambersburg so I know it's a small town with the same food places. I've heard great things about this place from my aunt and uncle so we all decided to try it. Inka Kitchen's food is wonderful, to put it bluntly. We ordered a whole chicken to share with sides of fried plantains and fried yuka. The yuka was delicious, kind of tastes like fries. We also got the Pollo Saltado to share and it was delicious! Who knew fries sautéed with chicken and onions would be so delicious? Individually, I got the chicken tacos. Maybe not Peruvian but they were damn good. Simple but delicious, with just onions and cilantro as toppings. Then the green salsa they gave was also the perfect addition. I really wish I lived in this town just to be close to Inka Kitchen. It was so delicious. The hospitality was also so wonderful. I wish I got the name of the gal who was helping us but she would constantly come around and ask us if we needed anything. WOAH WOAH WOAH! Take this review under consideration from actual Peruvians who know what Peruvian food is suppose to taste like. I was on a road trip going back home to NY and my family and I got hungry on the road and decided to look for a Peruvian restaurant nearby. Every other Peruvian restaurant around had bad ratings except this one. So we found a winner! We came into the restaurant being very skeptical about what to expect. To our surprise, the menu did not only include Peruvian food but from other countries as well. Hm, okay. Plus the waitress had said the following "our American customers never complain about the food here..." Okay? What we ordered: Choros a la Chalaca Lomo Saltado Bistec a lo Pobre Ceviche Mixto Pupusas Fettuccini a la Huancaina Choros a la Chalaca was super delicious! I absolutely loved them. We were all shocked since we were doubtful about the spot. Then it all went downhill from there. First off, the plate portions were great for the price you're paying, the taste however was not. Oh, someone got a dirty knife. Gross. Lomo had a good taste. Honestly, it was pretty good but it was salty!!! That's the only negativity. Bistec a lo Pobre was good. The egg, fries & maduros were super small. This plate contradicts my plate portion comment from beforehand. That is not the point of this specific dish!!! The steak was so disgustingly seasoned. It's important to be as descriptive as I can even if it means to be rude. It's just steak my gosh! If you do not know how to season it then just add salt and that's it. Ceviche was good. However, I was a bit thrown back when the person ordering the dish asked the waitress to tell the chef not to make it spicy and she said the following..."we never put any spicy ingredient in the ceviche." Uh WHAT? Wait what? Are you serious? Any Peruvian spot whatsoever will first hand ASK you how you want the ceviche; spicy, mild, not spicy. There's no such thing as no spicy whatsoever. TF? A friend ordered the pupusas, I had never had it before so I can't really comment on it except that I thought it was pretty delicious. Please let's move on to the Fettuccini a la Huancaina. I have heard about this dish once before in a Peruvian restaurant in NY. Never decided to try it mainly because I personally just don't prefer it. But my brother and his girlfriend decided to order this plate. Plate portion? Fantastic. Taste? No. The fettuccini had a small purée of huancaina on top and on top of that was a decent size steak. They mixed the fettuccini with the small amount of sauce and...I don't even know what to say. I tried some of it and I honestly do not know wtf that was. That was definitely not huancaina. I don't care what anyone says. That was not huancaina. It had this strong bitter taste but it definitely was nowhere near to what huancaina is suppose to taste like. NOTHING!!! I can't hesitate it enough!! So disappointed. You guys have no idea how disappointed we were!!! Please take this review under consideration from actual Peruvians who actually KNOW what Peruvian food is suppose to taste like!!!! We stopped by the Inka Kitchen the other day, it is a nice little Peruvian restaurant in Lincoln Plaza off of Lincolnway East, less than half a mile from exit 13 of I-81. I had seem signs over the past few years, but only recently decided to try it out. So the interior has about 8 tables and all of them the multi color Peruvian blankets covering them. The menu is broken down into different specialties, with a small flag next to each item highlighting if it's Domincan, Mexican, Spanish, Peruvian, Colombian, etc. My appetizer consisted of these Papusa, which is basically a wrapped cheese pancake, 2 for $7. Our entree was Peruvian style beef fried rice, or Arroz chaufa de carne for $14. Hate to say it, but it's better than my wife's fried rice & she's Chinese! Not making this up!! Portions were huge (think of splitting a plate or h a Ving lunch the next day) & there's free refills on fountain drinks $2.50. The waitress / owner was very friendly. Accepts major credit cards. The restaurant is clean and bright with colorful table cloths. There ar emany itiems on the menu. I love S American and Cuban food.I ordered the deep fried pork, rice and black beans. The menu price was $10 although I was charged $11. The portion size is fine compared to price. The pork chunks had too much fat and gristle. I love crispy fried pork rinds but this was just fat in a meat that can be very lean. The pork would have been better if it had marinated in lime, garlic and oregano. I was not able to eat the pork. I stronlgl suggest the kitchen uses a leaner cut of pork. The beans were flavourless and need spicying up. Service was fine. The menu price was $10 although I was charged $11, I just left $2 tip, $1 less than my normal tip. I had chicken here before which was good. read more

I was passing through the area and the positive yelp reviews drew me in. The resturant itself is very hidden- if your driving too fast you will miss it due to the sign being so small. The resturant is small about 13 tables or so. The menu does include some traditional Peruvian dishes as well as other Spanish dishes. This place does not serve alcohol, bring your own. We had a lovely waitress who was very attentive. We started with ceviche, tostones, and a cheese pupusa. The ceviche was great, it had corn, fish, shrimp, and yuca frita. It was the perfect balance of vinegar and citrus. The tostones were beautifully fried and crispy. I ordered the pupusa mainly out of curiosity because this is a salvadorian dish and not a Peruvian dish. The flour was very dry- almost crumbly. Do not get the pupusas. Following appetizers, I was hopeful about the main dishes. We waited for at least another 15/20 minutes before our food came. I was disappointed in my fettuccine a la huancaina. This is a Peruvian dish that I have has at other places before. The sauce supoosedly is a cheesy and spicy mix. The sauce here was very unpleasant- I can't even tell u what was wrong because it tasted so off. The steak that was included had no taste. 3/4 of my group had steak dishes- all were tasteless and rough. I LOVE Peruvian food and this was no exception. They even have the yellow Aji sauce that I dig that I miss from the Peruvian place I used to go to back home. Inka is Yum! We had the Dominico sampler to start! It had meat, cheese, egg, fried plantains! Then I ordered the Barbacoa & the Chicken Tacos! Both were authentic & a mouthwatering delight! Ask for extra napkins if you or these! My buddy got the steak & rice and the plate full of food he received was ginormous! He also said that he enjoyed his selection. All in all a great meal. We sat outside on this cool September evening, which is always best in my book. Two things I didn't appreciate where; KFC next door & their drive thru speaker works a little to well as far as drive thru speakers go. Also, there was this man and women w/ yappy dogs in tow, just kind of lingering in the parking lot. Extremely rude, right!? Anyhow, we take our time despite these mongrel yielding nuisances. As we get up and have paid our tab these fine citizens who've been awkwardly loitering run to our table! I comment to my friend, "Hey, those loonies were being annoying to try to rush us off to get our seat!" Lame! All that to say, the outside only has area for two tables that could fit four persons each comfortably. Service was faster than expected and friendly. He made suggestions that all sounded good. Unfortunately one of the items I ordered and paid for wasn't in my bag. Kind of bummed because it was something I hadn't tried before and it sounded amazing! If you order the chicken fried rice, do yourself a favor and ask for extra sauce! AT&T sent us on a wild goose chase from Martinsburg, WV to Chambersburg, PA. I mention this because it was a wasted trip and we were irritated at the drive and wasted time, so not in a good mood. We decided to check Yelp to see if there was anywhere decent around to grab a bite. That was the grumpy mood and mindset in which we found Inka. It's in a small strip mall and kind of easy to miss. The space is fairly small, but the decor is surprisingly nice! Quality and detail put into the table cloths, menu, and paintings. We had planned to grab a snack to go (like a couple of pupusas), but decided it was worth sitting down to dine once we got there. Our mood / hopes began to rise. Greeted promptly by friendly staff. Again pleasantly surprised by items on the menu often left off of the run-of-the-mill "Peruvian" places that pretty much just serve rotisserie chicken and sides. Ceviches (yes, plural), mufungos (again, yes, plural) and the DRINKS! After seeing the menu our mood had changed to hopeful smiles. They didn't have horchata today, but I'm glad they didn't since it meant we tried the chicha morada....red juice beverage with an undertone of cinnamon spice. Mellow and wonderful. They only had enough for one of us...again I'm happy it happened that way because the morir sonando I ordered instead was amazing. A creamy yogurty drink. Not too tart and soooo good. We would come back again for the drinks alone. (Note: these are not alcoholic drinks ). By the time we'd had our drinks the grins were fixed on our faces. Grumpy moods gone. We got the lomo saltado sandwich and the sandwich con chicharron, both with yucca. My sandwich (the chicharron) came with a yellow sauce that made the sandwich. Bread wasn't really authentic Peruvian style, but the sandwich with lettuce (not junky iceberg), marinated red onions and sliced sweet potatoes was wonderful all the same. The chicharron could have used more salt in my opinion, but I am an admitted salt-a-holic. My husband's lomo saltado looked just as good. He asked for the spicy green sauce and when he poured some over his sandwich meat it took it to the next level. We both substituted yucca for french fries and glad we did. Crispy and yet soft, they were denser than some places I've had but in the top 2 yuccas ever for me. Very authentic. Our server, Christie, was wonderful. Always answered with a bright cheerful "Yes!" to every request we made, and was super fast bringing anything we asked for. She made the place feel friendly, welcoming and comfortable. She even brought out a sample of a shredded chicken dish they will be adding to the menu (it was good too). We left happy to have gone on our wild goose chase if only because it led to finding this gem. We WILL be back. read more

The only issue with this place is the frequent "we are out of chicken" when my friends and I decide to eat here. Only Peruvian place I've been to that "runs out of chicken." It's very disappointing, especially when you've traveled quite a distance to dine there. read more
