No Peruvian chicken available No plantains available Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon during our travels based on the 4.7 rating the restaurant has (not a clue how). The restaurant is in a little strip mall with 4-5 other restaurants, and I bet any of the other restaurants would have been a better choice. Inka Kitchen looked the fanciest on the outside with its seating area and fresh hanging flower baskets outside. I ordered a water with lemon. Sorry, no lemon, is lime okay? I also ordered an Inka cola. Sorry, we only have 2 liters, no individual servings. Then I ordered a 1/2 chicken with fried plantains & black beans. Sorry, no Peruvian chicken and the plantains are not sweet. The Peruvian restaurant did not have Peruvian chicken or fried plantains. So, I settled for a burrito bowl. I could not have been more disappointed. The chicken was tasteless but salty and tough/dry. There was a tablespoon of black beans, some diced tomatoes, definitely NOT pico de gallo, four slices of avocado, no guacamole, no sour cream. The other person had a quesadilla which they said was okay. So, how the restaurant has a 4.7 review is BEYOND me.
Still one of the absolute best restaurants in Chambersburg, and I'm still loving that lomo saltado while continuing to try more and more of the menu. I just love how colorful and friendly this restaurant is, too! Ignore the low review. He's not the only person who's spent time in Latin America. Some of us actually enjoy good food!
The atmosphere is always so kind and welcoming and the food is always so delicious, we always leave so full and satisfied! There's so many different options you cannot go wrong at all! And Hannah is a wonderful and kind sever! We love coming here!
Fantastic food. We enjoyed Peruvian and Dominican dishes; items we've never had before. I don't recall the names, but one was pulled chicken in a yellow pepper cream sauce with rice. The other dish was a creamy tomato based sauce with shrimp and rice and tostones. Plus a green side salad (the green house dressing simple and flavorful). Several gluten-free options. Quick friendly service, and an easy stop off I-81. Will definitely return to try some more of the menu.
I was actually in the mood for Indian food at the restaurant next door which is closed on Sundays, so decided to eat at the Inka Kitchen where we've visited in the past. As a disclaimer, I hiked the Inka Trail a number of years ago and indulged at a number of Peruvian restaurants, thus had an idea of what to expect . We were immediately and courteously seated and provided with menus and a beverage selection. The waitress was most pleasant and efficient, and other waitresses would pick up our plates when empty, even though they were not our servers. The menu and table settings are unique and distinctive, and importantly, the bathroom was very clean which is a vital indicator to me of the hygienic priorities of the management. Most importantly, the food was delicious with portions more than adequate. The price is reasonable considering that national fast food chains have poor quality food at prices that are not cheap. In summary, try out Inka Kitchen for a distinct treat. I'll bet you'll want to return. I know I will!
Absolutely LOVED this place on previous visits - was aghast upon arriving at the former Lincoln Way location & finding them not there - thankfully the Interwebs came to the rescue & not only was Inka Kitchen still thriving but we now knew how to find them ;) Upon arrival, we were seated immediately and greeted by the familiar fabric-encased menus...woohoo! There are a fair amount of items to choose from - we chose Papa Rellena, Papa a la Huancaina, & Lomo a lo Pobre. Everything was fantastic! Well-prepared & loaded with flavor! The fact that we arrived about an hour before closing & the restaurant was probably 70% occupied says a lot - especially not being in the 'big city'! Staff was great, food was great - definitely give it a try!
The Chicken was undercooked. This place is cheap with condiments. Small thing of ketchup and a all thing of hot sauce which we were charged for. Not coming back!
Inka is so close to our house and we have been going there for a few years now and if I could give it 6 stars I would. The service there is fantastic and the waitresses are very personable. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. The food is very fresh and the salads are fantastic. My favorite is the Chicken marsala which is great. If you are in chambersburg looking for a great place to eat this would be it!
Getting Straight to the Point: - 7:35 pm: Placed a pick up order. Was told it would be ready in 20-25 minutes - 7:50 pm: Arrived. Waited. Waited. Waited... - 8:12 pm I watched as the cook STARTED my order. - 8:26 walked out with my food. Was not given an apology UNTIL I complained...Was told sorry, but it was more of a shrug of the shoulders. - I arrive home to eat my food...my sausage was burned and everything did not taste very well. Stay away from El Dominicano. Extremely disappointing. I wanted to order the chicken, but they told me they ran out...Which I'll explain more down below... Now the lengthy part: Inka Kitchen has moved to their new location and they are having a LOT of problems. I suggest giving them about 2-3 weeks to settle in and work out the kinks. They just opened on May 9th so check back in with them on May 23rd. When I went in, it was not "slammed" or "crazy busy" as they made it out to be on the phone. What did I witness? I saw servers, who weren't sure of what they were doing, scrambling and panicking. I watched as multiple customers complained about a problem in the women's bathroom. I watched the cooks in the kitchen scramble around trying to get food out on the tables. I saw a lot of lack of experience. WHICH is shocking to me since Inka Kitchen has been operating for years, right? I think whatever system they had in place before is not working here on Wayne Avenue. I used to work in a restaurant as a server. We would get SLAMMED. I mean, every table filled, to go orders, AND a line around the block. What I witnessed was not slammed. There were still empty tables and a lot of disgruntled customers because the food was taking long. Suggestions: -Kitchen Line: Change the set up in the kitchen. The kitchen has to work like a well oiled machine. You can't have people scrambling, running into each other in the kitchen. Get the cooks to their stations and have it work like a factory line. Servers should only be going to one area to get food, not looking around the kitchen to check on dishes. I watched as servers were opening up to go orders trying to figure out who's order was what. From where I was standing, it looked like chaos IN the kitchen. -Servers: Get experienced servers who know the menu. Servers who won't tell the customers straight out they don't know what something is or the fact they are new to the restaurant. The servers MUST know the menu. MUST know what the dishes are and should be able to make recommendations. When I called to place an order, I originally wanted a whole chicken with sides. The girl explained they ran out of whole chicken. What she should have suggested was "We ran out of whole chicken, but we still have 1/2 chickens left". THAT would have been better. Again - overwhelmed inexperienced servers. I watched as they made people wait for tables, yet there were 3 tables together that could have been separated. -Check Out System: Maybe add another iPad in order to complete transactions. People were waiting at tables for their checks, servers were scrambling, then people started coming up to the front in order to pay to leave, but then were told their check would be brought to them. Again, very unorganized. -Apologizing: I waited almost an hour for my food when I was told 20-25 minutes. Where I used to work, if something like that happened, we'd give out a slice of flan or some dessert to apologize and ensure customers will continue to come back. To not even get an apology until I complained was not good business. In conclusion (lol), I do think Inka Kitchen has good food (stay the F away from El Dominicano). I think right now they are struggling and maybe should have opened a little later. This is already an established restaurant that happened to make a lot of rookie mistakes. Hopefully they can figure it out and not deter too many people away in the process. IF NOT, well then walk next door to INDIA CAFE. They have some bomb ass food with excellent customer service!! Never had Indian food? Well check out my yelp review on India Cafe! I provide "safe" dishes that you cannot go wrong with!
Food is delicious! Portions are huge!!! The waitress was so helpful with great recommendations. It's a great place to take a group and split the dishes so you can try more!

My daughter recommended Inka's Kitchen, and I'm always looking for a new local restaurant to try. I phoned in our order. The sweet lady said it would be 20 minutes. When I arrived it was ready to go. The portions were huge and well worth every penny. I don't know much of anything about Peruvian food, but it's a new favorite of mine. read more

First time customer tonight and it was wonderful! Fast friendly service and quick to check back with us throughout our meal! Food was amazing. I will definitely be going back! We had the Tostado de camerones, (the guacamole on this tostada was so flavorful!) papa rellena, Churusco de pollo w fried green plaintains and fried rice, and the Inka wings. Tres leche cake to go. I had never had most of these but liked them all. The marinade on the chicken was so good. Food was hot and flavorful. The fried green plantains (tostones) were crispy and not greasy. I dipped them in the yellow and green sauces they have. Hot wings were so delicious and spicy! And the cake, mmm a great dessert to follow this meal. Highly recommend! read more

So many good Yelp reviews drew me here. Moving to the area from Philly. I will definitely be back here to eat ! Cute clean place right near intersection of I81 and Route 30. Next door to KFC. Really decent prices. I got the 1/4 rotisserie chicken. Comes with two sides. I tried the fried rice and the salad. Also tried the chicken Papuans. They're like a small quesadilla with chicken and cheese. Very interesting sauces and salad dressing. Unique !!! read more

Hubby and I were traveling through the area after a very stressful week and looking for a good meal to help us relax, this place definitely did that and more. Shared the Peruvian chicken, fried rice and tostones, food was amazing and I say this having grown up eating Cuban and Latin American versions of these dishes. Great service and nice atmosphere. A hidden gem. read more

We stopped by the Inka Kitchen the other day, it is a nice little Peruvian restaurant in Lincoln Plaza off of Lincolnway East, less than half a mile from exit 13 of I-81. I had seem signs over the past few years, but only recently decided to try it out. So the interior has about 8 tables and all of them the multi color Peruvian blankets covering them. The menu is broken down into different specialties, with a small flag next to each item highlighting if it's Domincan, Mexican, Spanish, Peruvian, Colombian, etc. My appetizer consisted of these Papusa, which is basically a wrapped cheese pancake, 2 for $7. Our entree was Peruvian style beef fried rice, or Arroz chaufa de carne for $14. Hate to say it, but it's better than my wife's fried rice & she's Chinese! Not making this up!! Portions were huge (think of splitting a plate or h a Ving lunch the next day) & there's free refills on fountain drinks $2.50. The waitress / owner was very friendly. Accepts major credit cards. Ample free parking. read more

WOAH WOAH WOAH! Take this review under consideration from actual Peruvians who know what Peruvian food is suppose to taste like. I was on a road trip going back home to NY and my family and I got hungry on the road and decided to look for a Peruvian restaurant nearby. Every other Peruvian restaurant around had bad ratings except this one. So we found a winner! We came into the restaurant being very skeptical about what to expect. To our surprise, the menu did not only include Peruvian food but from other countries as well. Hm, okay. Plus the waitress had said the following "our American customers never complain about the food here..." Okay? What we ordered: Choros a la Chalaca Lomo Saltado Bistec a lo Pobre Ceviche Mixto Pupusas Fettuccini a la Huancaina Choros a la Chalaca was super delicious! I absolutely loved them. We were all shocked since we were doubtful about the spot. Then it all went downhill from there. First off, the plate portions were great for the price you're paying, the taste however was not. Oh, someone got a dirty knife. Gross. Lomo had a good taste. Honestly, it was pretty good but it was salty!!! That's the only negativity. Bistec a lo Pobre was good. The egg, fries & maduros were super small. This plate contradicts my plate portion comment from beforehand. That is not the point of this specific dish!!! The steak was so disgustingly seasoned. It's important to be as descriptive as I can even if it means to be rude. It's just steak my gosh! If you do not know how to season it then just add salt and that's it. Ceviche was good. However, I was a bit thrown back when the person ordering the dish asked the waitress to tell the chef not to make it spicy and she said the following..."we never put any spicy ingredient in the ceviche." Uh WHAT? Wait what? Are you serious? Any Peruvian spot whatsoever will first hand ASK you how you want the ceviche; spicy, mild, not spicy. There's no such thing as no spicy whatsoever. TF? A friend ordered the pupusas, I had never had it before so I can't really comment on it except that I thought it was pretty delicious. Please let's move on to the Fettuccini a la Huancaina. I have heard about this dish once before in a Peruvian restaurant in NY. Never decided to try it mainly because I personally just don't prefer it. But my brother and his girlfriend decided to order this plate. Plate portion? Fantastic. Taste? No. The fettuccini had a small purée of huancaina on top and on top of that was a decent size steak. They mixed the fettuccini with the small amount of sauce and...I don't even know what to say. I tried some of it and I honestly do not know wtf that was. That was definitely not huancaina. I don't care what anyone says. That was not huancaina. It had this strong bitter taste but it definitely was nowhere near to what huancaina is suppose to taste like. NOTHING!!! I can't hesitate it enough!! So disappointed. You guys have no idea how disappointed we were!!! Please take this review under consideration from actual Peruvians who actually KNOW what Peruvian food is suppose to taste like!!!! I feel bad that every other ethnicity and or race believe this is what my country's food is suppose to taste like which IT IS NOT!!!! 2 star rating: restaurant space, nice table covers, nice waitress, pupusas, choros a la chalaca. read more

I LOVE Peruvian food and this was no exception. They even have the yellow Aji sauce that I dig that I miss from the Peruvian place I used to go to back home. This was very good and I WILL go there again!! Awesome yellow Aji sauce too. Made my day!!!! I had the Bistec a lo Pobre with rice and (black) beans. Asked for a bunch of the yellow sauce. Fries crispy like I asked. We will definitely be going back. Price was reasonable. Clean--friendly staff-GREAT experience. read more

We were at their previous location which was hard to get in and out of with a small parking lot. Their Wayne Avenue location is much more convenient. The restaurant is clean and colorful, the staff friendly and patient (explaining the menu) and the food delicious. I like to savor different ethnic foods and will be returning read more

I was passing through the area and the positive yelp reviews drew me in. The resturant itself is very hidden- if your driving too fast you will miss it due to the sign being so small. The resturant is small about 13 tables or so. The menu does include some traditional Peruvian dishes as well as other Spanish dishes. This place does not serve alcohol, bring your own. We had a lovely waitress who was very attentive. We started with ceviche, tostones, and a cheese pupusa. The ceviche was great, it had corn, fish, shrimp, and yuca frita. It was the perfect balance of vinegar and citrus. The tostones were beautifully fried and crispy. I ordered the pupusa mainly out of curiosity because this is a salvadorian dish and not a Peruvian dish. The flour was very dry- almost crumbly. Do not get the pupusas. Following appetizers, I was hopeful about the main dishes. We waited for at least another 15/20 minutes before our food came. I was disappointed in my fettuccine a la huancaina. This is a Peruvian dish that I have has at other places before. The sauce supoosedly is a cheesy and spicy mix. The sauce here was very unpleasant- I can't even tell u what was wrong because it tasted so off. The steak that was included had no taste. 3/4 of my group had steak dishes- all were tasteless and rough. I really wanted to enjoy this place but the extremly long wait time and subpar entrees turned me off. read more

Love this place! First class service and very personal. The food was amazing with nothing to say bad. The flavors are new to me and I loved every bit of it. Even if you are scared to try it you should!! It's nothing crazy or spicy. Just very original flavors from a different area. If you're tired of the same old stuff get here fast! read more

Ordered the chicken fried rice and it's amazing! Was early for an appt in the area and have wanted to try this place so I popped in and ordered take out. Service was faster than expected and friendly. He made suggestions that all sounded good. Unfortunately one of the items I ordered and paid for wasn't in my bag. Kind of bummed because it was something I hadn't tried before and it sounded amazing! If you order the chicken fried rice, do yourself a favor and ask for extra sauce! Whatever the yellow sauce they gave me was incredible. I'd normally dock a star for leaving an item out that I paid for, especially since I left a small tip, but this food is hitting the spot! Fresh, fast, friendly service...yes please! Vibe and music in the restaurant was also nice. read more
