The chicken was good and fresh I got 1/4 white but they cut off part of the breast, portion sizes for the sides are very small for the price of the "combo/meal" 15+ tip (cheaper in the menu than at checkout); my plantains are old and the fried rice is definitely missing seasonings and flavor the green onions are helpful... I wish restaurants especially takeout w/o delivery or waitresses... remove this tip option from the questions to ask a customer or adjust the pricing. The Cashier was low key rude lol no smile or greeting. I think I tipped bc she was so unwelcoming (crazy right I know the guilt of hitting no tip) lol I should have drove to a different place same food near the Safeway down Reisterstown Rd- they speak and they give larger fresh portions. read more

I am super unsure of why I haven't completed a review for this place considering the amount of times visited! I've been coming here to eat almost 2 years now and I absolutely love each and everything I've tried from this place! My favorites are the Peruvian Chicken Quarter, Catfish Platter and Chicken Wingettes, etc. The Chicken Wingettes come in several flavors! The veggies here are super good too! I love the potatoes, string beans, mixed veggies, beans, etc!! There's not one thing I can say I don't like about this place! They have a parking lot, outdoor seating as well as indoor seating and customer service is always on point! I'll definitely be back again and again and again!! read more

Went here on a whim during the second wave of COVID. Hubby and I were looking for something we could carry out and eat in the car-yes, it's been "a thing" recently. We tired to order chicken and steak tacos (3) but were told we couldn't combine. It had to be either chicken or steak. Huh? Why not? Well, I ordered steak. They had a nice presentation in the container, and came with salsa verde and amarillo sauce( the stuff that looks like thousand island dressing). The flavor was good, but not superb. They weren't super stingy with the meat, but weren't overly generous either. Hubby's chicken burrito was stuffed full of chicken, rice, black beans, and more. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I think they are a little overpriced though. Sides are extra. And although we ordered a side of green beans, they weren't in the take out bag. Sigh. We did go back after eating and got a refund for them. It is worth a shot-especially if you want the Peruvian chicken. I've tried it before and it's good/generously portioned. Tacos? If you are used to the best, it's a good idea to pass on them at Gran Pollo. read more

I went to this location on Friday. The chicken was good however the sides were unbearable to eat - tasted like they were soaked in habanero pepper (I got brussel sprouts), so there was no need for that level of heat. Also my card was charged for $19. Originally my card was charged for $17, now I check my statement and there is a $19 charge. Unfortunately for the extra unauthorized charges on my card, I will never return to this location. I've gone to other El Gran locations and never had this issue before. read more

Although I've been visiting/working in the owings mills area for a couple years now, i had no idea this place existed till i searched it up on yelp. Its located a bit past franklin middle school, there's a free parking lot with about 15 spaces. We visited about mid evening and i ordered a 1/4 white meat chicken and my 2 sides consisted of the chaufa rice (fried rice). Each chicken order comes with 2 sauces (which i personally think is not enough... i believe you can purchase extra sauces for about 25 cents each). The food was absolutely delicious, I ate it all before realizing i didn't even take a picture of it. It's comparable in price to other Peruvian chicken restaurants, about $9-10 for the meal. Chicken was well seasoned and the rice was delicious with the yellow sauce. Will definitely return! read more

We have eaten here 4 times. The chicken is delicious but even more surprising is their lamb platter! Medium cooked, tender, not chewy such great flavor. Their portions are generous and we've visited many local Peruvian restaurants and got to say the quality and flavor here tops others. It is a small chain but glad they opened here. Also just a note the website says Towson in the title because there's a location there but this last month we found out there's one in Pikesville besides this one in Reisterstown both being on Reisterstown Rd. which we weren't aware of and had to confusion at ordering at the wrong location on Reisterstown Rd. Hope you have better luck than me. I ordered chicken tenders and fries, that's it. I patiently waited 20 minutes while watching others get their food before me. When I finally got up to ask, I was told that I was waiting on fries, which was funny because other people that got their food that ordered after me had fries... After giving it another few minutes and seeing nobody working on my order, I asked for my money back. Although it sits hidden behind Main Street (was once Friendly's), and it is unassuming, this place cooks a tasty Peruvian chicken, chaufa (fried) rice, yucca, green beans, and beans & rice. The chicken gyro was equally tasty and you can't go wrong with the Old Bay wings. The staff is welcoming and the restaurant is clean. This is my third time ordering food from here. Quite frankly, they are better than Miski's, which is up the road. read more
