I stopped by R House after an event at the Baltimore museum of art. Never had Tio Gs so I decided to give them a try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ordered the passionfruit lemonade for my drink and it wasn't all that great to me. You could barely taste the passionfruit flavor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For my meal I went with the roasted chicken platter that also came with rice, sweet plantains and salad. I also ordered a steak and cheese empanada. The food was piping hot, well seasoned and delicious. The empanada was by far my favorite item that I ordered. It comes with some que lo que sauce (mayo ketchup combo) for dipping. But honestly it's so good you don't even need any sauce. The customer service was efficient and pleasant. The kitchen looked clean and organized. Overall great experience. Prolly wouldn't order the lemonade again but definitely returning for the food. read more

The plantains here are really good! I also had two empanadas. The steak/cheese and the chicken. I think next time that I go I will try a different empanada. I ordered 1 beef, 1 crab & cheese empanada, maduros, and tried the wildberry lemonade. I absolutely loved the crab & cheese empanada over the beef. They were flaky, fresh, and cheesy. I did have to ask for a new batch of maduros as the first ones were dry and not ripe enough. this is part of R house, a food hall/community center in remington. they mostly do empanadas, but i'm a fan of their lemonades and platters. i got the dominican platter with roast chicken, which came with rice, a salad, plantains, and two large pieces of chicken. the chicken was cooked very well, it was juicy and had crispy skin. the plantains (as most other reviews point out) are really well done and very tasty. everything isn't too seasoned but is still very flavorful, which in my opinion denotes good cooking. I had a little bit of an ice cream craving but decided not to get a scoop because... balance lol Fast forward to this past weekend... The beef and chicken empanada fillings are flavorful. The chicken was seasoned perfectly. The beef could be better, but it was still good, and I would order it again. They were perfectly fried, crispy, and not grease. The mango lemonade was fresh and delicious. read more

Great food, great prices. I ordered the Dominican platter with roasted pork. Everything was flavorful. It usually comes with sweet plantains, but they substituted tostones. I'm glad they did because the tostones were perfectly crispy. I'm posting this because I was looking for photos of this menu item and couldn't find any. Customer service is top notch. read more

This place was my first stop after we dumped our luggage at the hotel. The empanadas were very filling and flavorful. I was surprised at how heavy my to-go box was. Big pieces of shrimp and real crab in the seafood one and plenty of tender steak and gooey cheese in the other. Really fantastic service from the guys working! They even gave us recommendations of other places to visit in Charm City. I would stop here again if I visit Baltimore a second time. read more

Overall 3.5 I ordered a shrimp and crab cheese, empanada, steak and cheese, empanada, and the chicken empanada with a pear lemonade. The shrimp and crab cheese empanada ($9.50) was slightly fishy and very heavy. Not my favorite at all. The steak and cheese empanada ($6.00) was actually really good. I was glad I ordered a variety of items to try. This had a nice taste to it and paired well with the empanada batter. The chicken empanada ($5.75) was good as well. And I say this, considering I ate a cold the next day I'm sure it would have been even better warmed. The drink ($6.00) was a gallon of sugar with food coloring. I have no idea how this was even legal to drink, but it was super sweet and no way one person should be able to consume that much liquid. The lady who took my order (Yamileth) was super nice and gave me a heads up on some of the items that were the most popular to try. Brought me waaay back the Bronx, where you could always get limonada and piraguas. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I got the watermelon. Great customer service, the staff are so friendly and polite. The food is delicious especially the maduros which come with a interesting sauce that really sets off the sweetness of the maduro. I decided to try Tio G'a Chimi & Empanadas while at R house this weekend. After much deliberation, I settled on the beef empanada after asking the owner which was his favorite. The beef was very flavorful, but the empanada "shell" was different from other empanadas I've had. It was a bit thin and hallow which I'm just not used to I guess, but it wasn't bad. I cannot recommend Tio G's more. I would scream it off the top of a mountain if I could. My entire family and I (5) visited the Lexington market and came across Tio G's. Not only was the food absolutely amazing and fresh, but the service was as well. He treated us like family and made sure to have us try all of his specials and favorites.
