I enjoy Spanish food, and El Gran Pollo doesn't disappoint. The first time I ordered from them, I got the chuletas de cerdo--pork chops with chaufa rice and fried plantains. I felt the pieces of meat in the rice were unnecessary, so I picked them out, but everything else was perfect. The second time, I ordered baked chicken with white rice, green beans, and fried plantains. They offer a choice between white and dark meat--I chose dark, but they sent white instead. Walk in here because my bf wanted rotisserie style chicken like 3 months ago and I've been back at least every two weeks since. The food is consistently good, the service is simple. They have a cafeteria/chipotle style service bar. The sides are great. I've had pretty much all of them. The green beans are fresh and seasoned well and I love the half and half rice and black beans. Great location an not far from my home. The menu was computer generated and hard to read since it flashes so fast. But since I am familiar with the menu at bbn other similar chicken places I just ordered the 1/4 dark chicken meal with an extra side. We had string beans roasted potatoes with carrots nd plaintains. For my extra side I had intentions ordering an extra side of plaintains but was told the side was $3 so I went with the potatoes. Everything was flavorful and good. Well Yelp family I am still fortunate enough to be working from home so I had the opportunity to swing past an oldie but goodie EGP for lunch. They're still keeping it Covid safe and have the entrance and exit roped off in a way that dictates the flow in and out. There's lots of signage to indicate where to go and an area for delivery service pickup. Good thing because I got there peak lunch time and it was super busy, but the lines flowed smoothly. I was probably in and out in less than 10 minutes! I got a half chicken, fried rice, and plantains! It comes with 3 sauces (you can pick from 3 kinds) I'm a huge fan of the "green" (hot) and "yellow" (mild and creamy). My only beef is that 3 is never enough for me plus the cups are super tiny and often not filled to the top. You can pay a small up charge to get a few extra which I gladly do and highly advise. It just really sets everything off right. My meal today was so ridiculously good and everything I'd hoped for. The chicken was juicy and flavorful as per usual, I hit it with some green sauce. The fried rice got some yellow sauce and was hooked up nicely with bits of chicken, egg, and green onion so if your not a sauce fan, it's awesome on its own! All in all it was a solid lunch and snack for later ;) If you're itching for a charbroiled chicken fix definitely check them out! read more

Their shrimp and beef are also not to be underrated, and almost all their meals come with your choice of sides. The sides are all comfort foods (mostly fried) from fried yucca and green beans, though their plantains are my all time favorite for that sweet and savory treat. We are impressed by the renovated location, friendly service, and most importantly, the delicious chicken. I've had plenty of Peruvian chicken before and this place certainly measured up to high expectations. What was a nice surprise compared to other locations is that the whole chickens were a decent size. Elsewhere the chickens can be quite miniature! My only disappointment is that you only get 4 complimentary sauce containers if you order a whole chicken with no sides. However, it's only 25 cents per additional little container so it's still a low-cost way of getting a lot of delicious chicken with different savory sauces. I plan to go regularly as it's something I can't make at home and with only 2 of us, is enough chicken (without sides) for 2 dinners for under $20. read more

After my biweekly trip to Microcenter, I found this little gem tucked in nice and neat in a strip mall not too far away. This is the first Peruvian restaurant in the region that actually serves ceviche, (the other major chain in the area doesn't, and has no explanation to why it's on the menu!) so of course I had to try the three-flavor variery. And I am SO glad I did! The flavors were superb! One was olive flavored, one was Aji Amarillo (yellow aji), (and I swear I hate this Amiga's keyboard!), nd the third was Rocoto pepper. The girl behind the counter asked me how spicy I wanted it... not, please :) And they accommodated quite nicely. No heat at all except from the nautral heat of the peppers. They were all delicious!!! (See picture) All three variations were served with nuts, and a hearts-of-palm leaf. If you want to sample their Ceviche, this is what I would recommend. I'm now a major fan, as if I wasn't before. Next time I return I'll have to try the other ceviches. Question for the staff: Any chance of opening up a restaurant closer to APG? You'd do well, I think! read more
