They charge a credit card transaction fee plus if you eat in they automatically charge a 15 % tip,but if you do take out they still expect a tip. I guess people in central PA may not be tipping properly or at all. I just pay a $2 tip because we do carry out. You feel guilty! Tipping thing is getting out of hand. We do carry out most of time. The chicken is good, but lately they seem smaller. However, they are generous with the fried rice so that's a plus. Their ceviche is out of this world. It's pricey at $20.50 but it tastes so fresh and exotic. I also love their green and pink sauces to dip my fried yuca in. I could probably eat this food every day. read more

I need to do an update because they moved locations and the new space is much smaller and the menu is smaller. A lot of the more exotic dishes are gone. The main options include various combinations including rotisserie chicken in 1/4, 1/2, and whole sizes. You can also order just chicken. They also have ceviche dishes, fried rice dishes, and saltados. They also have chicken fingers and a few other traditional dishes. Since the focus is now on the rotisserie chicken, my husband and I decided to do the whole chicken combo with two sides (but no drink). For $27 we got one chicken (not huge but definitely enough for two) plus two sides and sauce. We opted for the fried yuca (my favorite from the old location) and the fried sweet plantains. The chicken was moist and flavorful, the yuca was perfectly fried with a crispy outside and soft inside, the plantains were sweet and gooey (maybe a little oily but not terrible), and the green sauce was fanfreaingtabulous. Sooooooo good. It's a little spicy but really adds the kick the chicken needs. Plus, it's a great dip for the yuca. I actually crave that green sauce. When I go the next time (and there will definitely be a next time) I'm going to order the combo with the 2L drink for a little more. A yellow Inca soda is the perfect artificially flavored and colored fizzy companion to this meal. Enjoy the green sauce. It was really tempting to sneak a bottle of it out of the restaurant. :) But we didn't want to deprive future diners of the opportunity to try it. read more

I stumbled across Quechuas on a food delivery app while trying to decide on something other than my usual to eat. I decided to get the half chicken, fried rice and sweet plantains. I kept seeing everyone talk about the green sauce in their reviews so I ordered that not knowing it already came with the food. It also came with another sauce that was a ketchup-Mayo mixture. I was not a fan of the sauces. The green sauce is full of flavor but a little too spicy for my liking and I don't like ketchup and mayo combined. But the food was super delish. The half chicken is legit a half of a chicken. The portion of food was enough for two. Rice and chicken seasoned well and the plantains were fried to perfect golden hue. We tried Quechua's for the first time on a Saturday afternoon and were very pleased with the food, portions, and service! The restaurant is nestled behind the Hibachi restaurant on Friendship drive. This is a smaller restaurant with about 10 tables, but it is very clean and welcomes visitors with delicious aromas. Upon entering there is a counter on the far side of the restaurant and we did not know if we ordered at the counter or if there was table service, but a server quickly approached us with menus and invited us to have a seat. Service was very attentive throughout the visit. The menu has many traditional Peruvian dishes and many that I am not familiar with, but there is something on the menu for everyone. On this visit we ordered the Causa de Pollo for an appetizer. Reading the description, I expected the dish to be similar to Cuban papa Rellenas, but I was wrong and was served this beautiful stack (see photo-I'm glad I was wrong). It was two layers of perfectly creamy mashed potatoes with a layer of shredded chicken salad between. It was DELICiOUS, so much so that I got an order to go to take home to Mom. Entrees on this visit were the rotisserie chicken, which was seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the pollo saltado (chicken sautéed with onions, tomatoes, French fries and served with rice). This was also delicious and for the price the portion size was large. Many of the dishes are served with French fries, which prompted one person in the party to wonder why? (Cliff Clavin fact on this question: Over 4,000 native varieties of potatoes grow in Peru.) Overall, the food and menu have a nice variety of choices that should suit even picky eaters. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and after seeing the various dishes being served at other tables, I can't wait to return to try other entrees. read more

I ate here for the first time last night. I was super sad when I had to leave Maryland and my beloved local pollo a la brasa restaurant. Imagine my surprise to find a place that's almost as good and not too far from our new home! This restaurant is located in a small shopping center near an AMC movie theater and ALDI food market. My husband and I ordered the half chicken, sweet plantain, and arroz chaufa. The pollo a la brasa was seasoned nicely and the plantain and rice were quite good. I absolutely love the green picante sauce as well. The restaurant was very busy with a steady flow of patrons coming in to pick up orders and dine in during the 40 minutes we were there. The total for our order came to $38 including our drinks. I felt that the pricing was very standard, especially considering that they have no competition in the area. My only complaint is that we asked for half dark meat and were given a quarter dark and a quarter white. We'll be sure to confirm that they hear us correctly next time we order. Wish there were more of these! We were in town to visit Hershey Park. We came here for dinner around 6pm. Service here was fantastic. We started off with 2 Inca colas and ordered a seafood plate (Jalea) and the classic chicken plate which came with with fries and rice. I was craving seafood and this restaurant had exactly what I needed to satisfy my craving. The jalea came out quickly and had cilantro, lime juice, and red onions. It was so delicious and aromatic! Great options, BIG portions! My family was visiting my sister and I from Myrtle Beach, SC and my sister planned a day in Hershey/Harrisburg. My mom is from Peru so naturally we wanted to have a Peruvian lunch. This location is right off of the highway so it was pretty easy going from Hershey to Harrisburg and back down to York. The restaurant is pretty large, they have plenty of parking and there is even a stage inside. I wish we were there when they were playing music or had entertainment, but you might want to check their website in you are going there to celebrate something special. The menu is pretty vast offering Peruvian chicken, lomo saltado, ceviche, and other dishes. I ordered the tacu tacu con mariscos, which was a plate with fried beans and rice with a orange sauce and seafood. It was delicious. The portion was huge so I was able to take home leftovers. My mom ordered the ceviche and my stepdad ordered the lomo which were both really good as well. My little brother ordered the chicken tenders which he finished, so those who have picky children this might be a good location since the kids meal had safe bets. They had 3 dressings: Italian, Ranch and House. The house tasted like a thinned honey mustard. It was okay but nothing to rave about. The chicken came out and it smelled delicious! It was moist and tender and very flavorful. If you're a fan of rotisserie chicken then you'll enjoy this! They also offer a green sauce. It was DELICIOUS! I was fighting the urge to take the whole bottle. The green sauce had a light slow kick but you also get a taste of cilantro and lime. My friend ordered the pollo saltado and I tried a piece of chicken and it was also very flavorful. I will try this next time. All in all, a great experience! Quechua's a great addition to the ethnic food places opening in Harrisburg, PA. We are still not in same league as Lancaster, PA, but we have more options than we had 10 years ago. We made a reservation for 6pm on a weekday, but didn't need it when we reached there. Two tables were occupied and we were told to select the table we wanted. Next time I'll select a table away from the TV (which was playing very loud). While we were there, many other tables got filled. But there were more take-outs than dine-in. Lots of people came in to pick up large orders. Most of them had called ahead, because they were there was a minimum time. There was only 1 server, but she took good care of everyone. She asked if this was our first visit and then gave suggestions on popular items. After we placed our orders, she brought out fried corn for the table. Very different, but good to munch on while waiting for the order to come out. The wait wasn't long, but it also didn't feel like microwaved frozen food like short. Food portions are huge. You will definitely take home leftovers. We started with Causa De Pollo and Yuca A La Huancaina. Both were good, but Causa De Pollo was my favorite. We liked the yellow pepper dip which accompanied Yuca fries. We asked for Rotisserie Chicken and were told that it won't be ready before 7pm. Apparently it takes a long time to cook. That was disappointing. They should plan for it to be ready earlier. For main dish we ordered Pollo Saltado (Saute Chicken with onion, tomatoes and French fries. We also ordered Arroz Con Mariscos, which is a seafood with rice dish. I was told it was very similar to Spanish Paella. Everything was tasting good and had been cooked in less oil. None of the dishes were spicy. They can make it spicy if asked. We ordered a dessert too (but didn't get the name). It's consistency was similar to rice pudding, but tasted very different. Overall the food was delicious and filling except for 1 dish (Seafood mixed rice), which I would avoid. Food: - Lomo Saltado. A peruvian classic that is a MUST TRY at Quechua's. It's beef, fries, onions and peppers with white rice. The beef was well seasoned and the green aji verde sauce is your best friend if you're looking for an extra kick. - Carne a la pobre. I had never heard of this dish until a friend ordered it; it's a gigantic steak, eggs, with fries and rice; essentially a deconstructed hamburger. The steak was also well marinated along with not too chewy/ cooked. - Seafood mixed fried rice. This is the reason why I can't give 5 stars. While the rice was tasty, salty, and well seasoned, the seafood was burnt and flavorless. Unfortunately this was also one of the priciest items on the menu. I think if we stuck to shrimp this would have been a much better experience; however, I wouldn't order this nor recommend it. Service: - Very kind service, our waitstaff asked us several times for our orders/extra water and helped us figure out the Yelp check-in offer. They weren't busy at all during this time, and so it might be a different story during peak lunch / dinner times! Tonight I saw a movie by this restaurant and so I got my dinner from here to take home. It is behind the sheetz in a building with some other interesting ethnic options. I walked in and was the only gringo there. The place has a nice upbeat vibe and the waitress took good care of me. I got my order to go and it was half a marinated chicken, french fries, salad, and dessert and an Inca Cola. I live about 20 minutes away and everything was packed well. The food was delicious. My server, possibly the owner, rubbed me the wrong way - she wasn't very accommodating. Assuming one could order all white meat for a little more money, I was shot down with a firm "no". Then I asked, if there were any other sides that were't fried, like chickpeas or beans. I got another "no". Regardless, the chicken was fairly good; even though it was a bit fatty for me. It's by the Tomato Pie Cafe is, and is housed in the same building where Captain Don's used to be. It's BYOB, so be aware. We didn't know what to expect as we had never had Peruvian food, but I can tell you we DID NOT expect to find what we did. Fried rice? Hot dogs? Huh? But it's true...you can get fried rice at this Peruvian restaurant. Hubby said it was among the best he'd ever had. (I had his leftovers for lunch and it was amazing!). I had a steak dish that was served with fried eggs, French fries (bagged and frozen, which is why they lost half a star), and rice with a small piece of hotdog on top. While the steak was thin, it was so flavorful and juicy. It tasted almost like it was fried, and I loved it. They put a bottle of a spicy homemade sour cream sauce on the table. It had hints of cilantro and citrus. It was fantastic...and you're going to want to put it on every single thing you eat from now on. Best South American Pollo within 100miles of Harrisburg. The chicken is perfect - crispy skin and tender and juicy on the inside. The green sauce is perfect, nice and spicy. They've got traditional Inca Cola (a must!) that cools the spice of the green sauce, should you use it! The service is friendly, but allow some time as it's all fresh. The fries and yucca are awesome too. A recommendation - would be to do something better with the salad they give. It's sorta thrown together and not real flavorful. Lastly, lots of Peruvian places in cities also offer a yellow sauce, similar to honey mustard. It's nice to use a spicy sauce as well as a honey mustard with the chicken and fries... We ate here last night, the biggest problem we had was the way they bill customers. The menu states pay cash and save so we paid cash. Unfortunately we did not read the cash register receipt that we had to ask for. They charged us an extra 15% and called it a tip.
