Mussels and clams - A seafood dish featuring mussels and clams garnished with herbs, accompanied by slices of bread, served in a metal bowl at a restaurant.
    Alexander P.

Our meal got off to a great start with a mussels and clams appetizer that was to die for. We asked for an extra cup of the incredibly flavorful broth to dip our bread. Unfortunately that was the best part of our meal. Our main courses were surprisingly bland. The osso buco was tender, but the gravy tasted like McCormick's packets and the mushroom risotto was more like rice. The lobster limoncello (the special that night) was lacking in lemony flavor and the seafood, while pretty, was overcooked. We were disappointed in the entrees. Service was very good, overall experience was just average. There are much better options for Italian cuisine in the area.

I was pleased with everything I had here. My boyfriend and I split the gnocchi fritti as an appetizer. They were really good. I would have liked them even better with a side of marinara, but they were good on their own. And the serving was large. We packed up half to bring home. I ordered the lasagna with meat sauce. It came with one real decent sized meatball. It was very good. I was very happy with it. I had over half of the meal wrapped up as leftovers. It was still good two days later as leftovers. My boyfriend and I split their Al Forno for dessert. It was fantastic. The waitress basically described it as an ooey gooey chocolate pot of mess and she was right. It was a molten lava cake but like 100 x's better. Large enough for 2-4 people to share. It is certainly a treat.

If you like Luna then you will like Visaggio's as they recently took ownership. Meals are well priced (cheaper than previously), huge portions, and very delicious. Highly recommend. Extra bonus is how large this space is compared to Lunas and Gabriella's restaurants so you don't feel cramped next to people and can have larger groups

The food is authentic, cooked to order, Italian. You have the choice between casual dining or formal dining. Reservations preferred for formal dining, but not required. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with an Italian family dinner feel. The bar is well stocked and beautifully made. Bathrooms are well kept. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They are also very attentive to guest needs. Please save room for dessert, as they present your options on a tray and they are all heavenly.

For Mother's Day we made reservations on Open table. We've been to Vissaggios in the past but apparently they have changed hands. They kept the name but the food was not the same quality of the previous owner. The service was good but unfortunately they made a limited menu I do mean limited. My Surf and Turf pictured was a piece of overcooked cod with prosciutto slapped on top. I'm not trying to be mean but I have had Mrs . Paul's from the frozen section that tasted better. Apparently the prosciutto was the turf it was served with two large grilled shrimp placed on some plain mashed potatoes. Not garlic image Bob Evan's quality plain potatoes. When I say I was disappointed it truly is an understatement . Please if you go there please realize it is not the same restaurant the recipes went with the owner who sold . My husband had the Ragu and it was ok . My mom had the Shrimp and scallops in a fettuccine style sauce . She said was good for which I was happy since it was Mother's Day . The dessert was ok but they gave us each an ice cream over fruit ... and it was as unexciting as it sounds. It was a disappointment all the way around . If we would have had half a shot of finding another place on Mother's Day I might have suggested we get up and leave when we saw the menu . We had no choice at 1:15 we drove 45 minutes to get there. We won't be back and I'm sad . It was a wonderful restaurant in the past .

The space has an energetic, bustling feel, and you can sense the servers moving in full hustle mode to keep everything flowing. We started with the calamari. The portion was generous, but it leaned more "standard" than standout--crispy and easy to share, but nothing that really left an impression. For my entrée, I ordered the Monster Burger with sweet potato fries. It definitely lives up to its name--big and hearty--but the execution felt off. The patties were oversized to the point that they overpowered everything else. The ratios just weren't there--not enough BBQ sauce or fried onions to balance it out. It ended up tasting more like bites of beef and bread rather than a layered, flavorful burger. My husband ordered the crab cakes, and this was the highlight of the meal. The texture was impressive--almost like a crab "cheesecake," dense, rich, and clearly made with minimal filler. You could tell it was quality. That said, for the price, the dish felt like it missed an opportunity. Pairing it with sweet potato fries and coleslaw kept it casual, when it could've been elevated with vegetables and something like mashed potatoes to better match the dish itself. And the sweet potato fries--this is where it really fell flat. They lacked that natural sweetness you expect and instead came across bland and a bit forgettable. No real depth, no contrast--just kind of there. For drinks, I had the blueberry blackberry mojito. It was fresh and enjoyable, but like other parts of the meal, it felt like it was missing something to fully bring it together. One nice touch was being able to see the cooks in action--it adds a level of energy and transparency that enhances the experience. Overall, the portions are big and the prices reflect that, but the food didn't quite deliver the "wow" factor to match. Black N Bleu has the presence and the potential--but for me, it just missed the mark on flavor and balance enough that I wouldn't rush back.

A quick search later and I realized it was only 20 minutes from home. I immediately grabbed a friend and requested a dinner date for the item that caught my eye: the Bratwurst mit Kraut -- bratwurst cooked with apples and sauerkraut, served on a pretzel bun and topped with even more kraut, with a side of German potato salad ($12). But I'll admit... I was also eyeing their Obatzda Burger with Oktoberfest beer cheese. Feeling bold, I asked our waitress if I could order their regular Pretzel Braid appetizer ($9) but swap the usual cheez-wiz and spicy mustard for that dreamy Oktoberfest beer cheese instead. She paused, smiled, wrote it down, and said, "that sounds really good!" Bless the chef for making my pretzel + beer cheese fantasy come true. The pretzel braid was warm, soft, and perfectly salty, and that beer cheese was the real MVP -- smooth, melty, not too hot, and with a proper beer-cheese finish. When the bratwurst plate arrived, it was a showstopper. Juicy brat, tangy kraut piled high, and tucked inside a pretzel roll that was soft but sturdy enough to hold it all together. No mustard needed! The German potato salad surprised me, though -- I'm used to the warm version, so finding it chilled caught me off guard. But honestly? It worked. Perfectly seasoned, just wet enough to be salad without drifting into soupy territory. I demolished both. Dessert was impossible to skip after hearing our waitress describe it to another table. We shared both the Apple Caramel Crumb Cake and the Lemon Blueberry Mascarpone Cake. The crumb cake was served warm with ice cream, loaded with thick, crunchy topping that didn't rely on chopped nuts (bonus points!). The mascarpone cake was light and buttery with the perfect balance of lemon and blueberry -- like saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall all in one dessert sitting. Southside Deli's Oktoberfest menu blew me away, and if their everyday offerings are anywhere close, I've been seriously missing out. Add in free parking, a convenient location, and plenty of seating, and it's an easy go-to spot for lunch or dinner. Southside is officially on my food rotation radar now!
