Adventure Buddy and I popped into Vissagio's on a Friday night around 5:30pm. They had a reservation ready for us, but honestly, the place was basically empty when we walked in, so we had the dining room to ourselves until about 6pm. Quiet, cozy, and perfect for some pre-weekend indulgence. The staff were wonderful--super friendly, checked in just enough so we didn't feel neglected, and honestly went above and beyond. My favorite part? They boxed up our leftovers right at the table. I don't know why this feels like such a rare treat, but I adored it. We started with drinks--an Old Fashioned for Adventure Buddy (classic) and a Blueberry Lemonade cocktail for me (fancy, fruity, perfect). Then we jumped into the food. First up: Bosco Bruschetta ($14). Porcini mushrooms on toasted bread, shaved Parmigiano, balsamic drizzle...and SO MANY MUSHROOMS. Creamy, rich, and overflowing off the little toasts. Highly recommend. Like, I'd go back just for this. For dinner, I went with the Eggplant Parmigiana ($24). This was a serious dish--lightly breaded eggplant layered with marinara and mozzarella, plus a huge side of pasta. The eggplant itself was perfect, not just drowned in sauce, and came in its own bakeware dish. I ended up taking about two-thirds home, which I have zero complaints about. Adventure Buddy had the Gnocchi Sorrento ($24) and added a filet mignon. The gnocchi were like little pillows of happiness, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the filet came out exactly medium-rare. Chef knows what's up. We couldn't resist dessert--a slice of chocolate peanut butter to split. SO good, and surprisingly light. Honestly, I could have eaten the whole thing (and, mostly did). Also, shout-out for the bread and dipping oil they brought out right when we sat down. I was starving, as usual, and that little gesture made me very happy. Total bill came to $132 with tip, which is really reasonable for the portions, quality, service, and slightly upscale-but-not-stuffy vibe. Bottom line: Vissagio's hits all the right notes--delicious food, friendly staff, and portions that don't leave you crying into a tiny plate. I'll definitely be back! read more

Our meal got off to a great start with a mussels and clams appetizer that was to die for. We asked for an extra cup of the incredibly flavorful broth to dip our bread. Unfortunately that was the best part of our meal. Our main courses were surprisingly bland. The osso buco was tender, but the gravy tasted like McCormick's packets and the mushroom risotto was more like rice. The lobster limoncello (the special that night) was lacking in lemony flavor and the seafood, while pretty, was overcooked. We were disappointed in the entrees. This is not a take out place or a place for using a coupon. I ordered ahead but they didn't start my order until I arrived at the restaurant. I ordered the eggplant and a pizza using a clipp coupon. When I finally was given my food, he rang my bill up to $42. I asked why and he said I ordered two chicken Parmesan and rattled on. I was in disbelief and corrected him. I was pleased with everything I had here. My boyfriend and I split the gnocchi fritti as an appetizer. They were really good. I would have liked them even better with a side of marinara, but they were good on their own. And the serving was large. We packed up half to bring home. I ordered the lasagna with meat sauce. It came with one real decent sized meatball. It was very good. I was very happy with it. I had over half of the meal wrapped up as leftovers. It was still good two days later as leftovers. My boyfriend and I split their Al Forno for dessert. It was fantastic. The waitress basically described it as an ooey gooey chocolate pot of mess and she was right. It was a molten lava cake but like 100 x's better. Large enough for 2-4 people to share. It is certainly a treat. read more

Wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary at this excellent Italian restaurant. The dining room was full of people celebrating their own occasions. Our server was friendly and just the right level of attentive. Our dinners were delicious. I had the Ragu Napoletano and my wife had Chicke Scallopini. Portions were large and we each took some home so we could save room for the scrumptious-looking desserts that greeted us in the case as we walked in. We split a lemon cake and a chocolate lava cake. Chef Tony made the rounds and told us he'd been the chef for 8 months and is updating the classic Italian recipes. When he found out it was our anniversary, he sent us each a limoncello to finish a great meal. A great place to celebrate life. read more

I wasn't originally going to write a review, however, the more I heard other people speak about the quality of the restaurant it made me feel like I should say something. A couple of weeks ago my family decided to go for brunch. We had not been there since before it was sold, which was a couple years ago. I was extremely excited to try Visaggio's as it had been a family tradition in the past. I got the Crab Florentine Benedict. The hollandaise sauce tasted like something that was made from an envelope, my egg was hard, not poached at all, and the crab was ice cold with chunks of shells. For dessert, not seeing the Cassata cake as an option, we ordered the carrot cake, and tiramisu to go. The waitress brought out the carrot cakes in a box, but the tiramisu's were still in glasses with fitted plastic lids. I asked the waitress if she wanted me to scoop out the tiramisu into a "to go" container. She said that it was fine and we could just keep them. It took me a minute to realize that these were not homemade, they were purchased this way with plastic lids. It did make sense though, because they had no flavor whatsoever. The carrot cake also tasted like plastic. Very disappointed considering that I've heard such wonderful things about Luna in Mechanicsburg. Visaggio's reopened under new ownership effective 2/5/25. Visaggio means face in Italian. It's unlikely I will show my visaggio at Visaggio's again unless they bring back the sauce and numerous menu items removed since the buyout. Ordered their spaghetti & meatballs and gnocchi dishes for takeout. Underwhelmed with both dishes. Meatballs were decent but everything else was subpar. So unfortunate!! Visaggio's used to be my favorite Italian restaurant. After last evening's fiasco, I will not be returning. There were six of us and only one meal was acceptable. The veal was not edible, the veal dish was served dry (no sauce), the blackened shrimp was not blackened, the lasagna was a meatloaf with pasta and unmelted cheese on top, and the "linguini" was spaghetti. They no longer serve the amazing cassata cake and the coffee was horrible. I get being under new ownership, but this was beyond horrible. read more

Had New Years reservations. What a HUGE disappointment. We were so excited for the new ownership too. We had early reservations, it wasn't even busy yet. Our server barely paid attention to us. It was a set menu, which is understandable, but was never expressed to us on the reservation call. Party of 8, half our entrees came out cold, and one didn't come out until most of our party was done. We expressed our displeasure and they offered a whole 10% off. For Mother's Day we made reservations on Open table. We've been to Vissaggios in the past but apparently they have changed hands. They kept the name but the food was not the same quality of the previous owner. The service was good but unfortunately they made a limited menu I do mean limited. My Surf and Turf pictured was a piece of overcooked cod with prosciutto slapped on top. I'm not trying to be mean but I have had Mrs . Paul's from the frozen section that tasted better. Apparently the prosciutto was the turf it was served with two large grilled shrimp placed on some plain mashed potatoes. Not garlic image Bob Evan's quality plain potatoes. When I say I was disappointed it truly is an understatement . Please if you go there please realize it is not the same restaurant the recipes went with the owner who sold . My husband had the Ragu and it was ok . My mom had the Shrimp and scallops in a fettuccine style sauce . She said was good for which I was happy since it was Mother's Day . The dessert was ok but they gave us each an ice cream over fruit ... and it was as unexciting as it sounds. It was a disappointment all the way around . If we would have had half a shot of finding another place on Mother's Day I might have suggested we get up and leave when we saw the menu . We had no choice at 1:15 we drove 45 minutes to get there. Made a reservation in their formal dining area on a Thursday night to celebrate my sister's birthday. We had always heard great things about this place, but had never tried. The ambiance inside is definitely cute and cozy, they had Christmas decorations everywhere which made it feel like you were eating in a friend's home. We started with the gnocchi fritti (fried gnocchi). It was delicious! The texture of the gnocchi was so good and the garlic sauce and cheese added a lot of flavor. I do with it came with some red sauce on the side to dip, but otherwise it was very good. For my entree I got the pollo caroline. It was a huge portion and came with a side of pasta of your choosing with red sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. The artichokes and spinach on top tasted very fresh and overall it was a very yummy dish. A few in our group got the filomena ir sampler dish. They says everything was excellent and again it was a huge portion. My sister got the elena maria and it looked fantastic. I only got to try a bite of the steak, but it was cooked perfectly and honestly made me wish I had ordered that. We ended the meal with 2 of their desserts: strawberry shortcake and a chocolate cake with canola filling and ice cream. Both were SO good. I would come here again just for the desserts. I mostly at the strawberry shortcake and the strawberry sauce tasted fresh like real strawberries instead of the artificial flavored kind. The cake was so good as well and there was a big helping of ice cream and whipped cream. Our server was also so friendly and helpful the entire meal! Visaggio's is under new management and I hope they read this because wow... I couldn't believe how horrible of a "dining" experience that was. I was there at 6 pm on September 4, 2025. I ordered lobster ravioli, and my friend ordered scallops. The waiter was very young, but cordial. He came back after we ordered and said they were out of both lobster ravioli and scallops. I said it's only 6:30! How can you be out of something already? He had no explanation. So then we ordered a salad with salmon on the top. I cut into the middle of mine and it was squishy and raw. At that point I asked the server to take it back and just give me the bill for my drinks. Then the manager (I guess) came out and I don't think he spoke English,or very little anyway, and he awkwardly shook our hands, but I couldn't understand what he said. Normally under these circumstances, I would think they would do something to encourage the customer to come back, but he didn't. I gave the server a cash tip and told him it wasn't his fault, but the whole experience was so disappointing. My friend and I will never be back, and unfortunately, I've had to warn some of my friends who are interested in trying out the newly-managed Visaggio's. Don't waste your time!!!! read more

We have been going to Vissagio's for many years and have lived it. New owners took over Vissagio's in February this was our first visit under new management. They no longer offer any of the Lamadue's recipes. The dinners we had were okay, but not what we expected or wanted. Each dish had a ton of pasta on them, but the sauces were not that good. Our server said many other long term customers were not pleased with the new menu. I would suggest that the owners return to the recipes that made Vissagio's thrive if they want to retain the regulars who made it a successful restaurant. Or they should change the name. September 19th...my husband's 79th birthday and I asked him where he wanted to go to dine and he/we decided to give the newly managed Vissagio's a try! I had read reviews and it was a 50/50 shot!!!! The service with Sam and Nate was impeccable....so wish I could say the same for the food!!!! Such a disappointment! We were seated at a table in the bar area in view of the kitchen.....only to see an aproned man leaning against a table eating something from a bowl....dripping on his chest only to be scooped up with his spoon and proceeding to finish eating it! I don't mean to be petty but this was quite unappealing! In summary, the ONLY plus to this experience were the servers. I highly doubt we will be returning!!!! read more

We have been to Visaggio's on other occasions but last nights visit was a total disappointment. The waitress was not at all attentive; she never checked back to see if we were ok with our meal, water glasses were empty and we had to flag down someone for water. We had to ask another waitress for containers for left over food as our waitress was MIA for quite a while. She finally showed up to give us our check but never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. The dinner was good but the wait staff definitely sets the tone for how much you enjoy your experience. If you are short on help, you should stop taking reservations so that everyone can enjoy their meal. It will be a while before I go back or recommend Vissaggio's to anyone. read more

I've been going to what once was Visaggio's since I was a little kid. I'm 37 now. Never had a bad meal. I knew things would change when they sold the business but wow....I've eaten at Luna in Mechanicsburg (supposedly the new owners) and it was really good. Great portion sizes, good seafood. So I held out hope this would be the same. Wrong. Nothing inside has changed but none of the old staff is there - assuming they all quit. My wife and I sat at the bar and it took us almost 45 minutes to get drinks and an app. It wasn't busy. We had a new girl who apparently just started today and she literally didn't know anything. Not where the napkins were. Not what wines they had. Nothing. Not her fault but honestly what are you doing putting someone in that position? Not to mention she seemed like she didn't want to be there. I felt bad for the lonely bar tender also making all the drinks for the restaurant. He was at least cordial and tried to help us. App was Vesuvio - some sausage patties with broccoli and melted cheese. Sausage was over cooked the whole thing looked like it was sitting under heat lamps waiting to be ordered. My wife orders a sparkling water - no Pellegrino only Perrier. How the hell can you not have Italian sparkling water at an Italian restaurant?! Wife ordered Rigatoni Carbonara which honestly wasn't bad. Decent portion. Noodles were cooked well. Good sauce. I got the Chicken Parm and although the portion was nice and pasta was cooked well, the chicken was over cooked and the sauce tasted like something from a cafeteria or jar. Now to the bread. I knew they weren't going to make the bread homemade like Rose Mary did but my god it was awful. Tasted stale to be honest. And the olive oil and vinegar mixture looked like cheap olive oil (very cloudy) and motor oil. At least we had some entertainment with the severely drunk woman and her poor spouse across the bar who was hysterical after she burned her hand on the skillet and kept calling the bartender "Baby." Oh and the bartender slung beer foam on a woman sitting next to the tap. I've watched enough of Bar Rescue to know when beer isn't cold enough coming out of kegs. We also got my son a Caesar salad and margarita pizza to go. Which came with no dressing. Sorry but for $180 I expect a helluva lot more than what we got. And to continue calling this Visaggio's is a disservice to what Bill and Rose Mary built. Unless some things change drastically, I won't be going back. read more

Six of us went there last evening, mainly to see if the food is as good as when the previous owners had the restaurant. Three people ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. The meal was not as good as before. We used to buy the meatballs to take home. Even though the recipe was supposed to be the same, the texture was different. Also the menu has been scaled down. Without sounding too dramatic, Visaggios has been a part of my husband's life for forty years and mine for twenty. We were unaware of the restaurant ownership/menu changing and was not advised otherwise when reservation was made. The list of reasons that we will never return to Visaggios is lengthy and I will not elaborate. However, other than the building/decor, nothing is the same or as good. August 1, 2024 So disappointed at this restaurant today We have spent our past three Anniversaries at this restaurant and found the ambiance and professionalism as top notch. However, this particular visit was just a casual night out. The staff were awesome and very professional, however during this visit with my husband, I observed two mice and that caused me to have a massive panic attack. This is the reason for my low rating.
