Merit gave us the quote with a virtual walkthrough (thanks Robert Borson) and Ellie Soltero, the Relocation Coordinator from Merit Moving Systems, held our hand throughout the process. Mayflower/Merit quote was transparent, very competitive with no hidden charges. They also addressed our many concerns (whether we need to disassemble some furniture - answer is no, they will do it and also re-assemble at the destination, or whether we need to get a city parking permit for the truck to park on a busy street - again no, Robert knew the area and Merit took care of it as needed). The move itself went smoothly. Carlos and crew loaded furniture and boxes from a two-bedroom condo in LA. They were efficient and very careful with the flooring by laying runners along the floor and stairs. After nine days of cross-county trip (dropping off in other locations along the way), the truck arrived to deliver the goods. The crew weren't as careful with the house (not enough protection for the flooring and the carpets like Carlos) and may have damaged some areas of the hardwood floor (hence one less star). But they were still efficient and good in placing the furniture and the boxes where they needed to be. Nothing was broken and we are happy with Merit Moving Systems and Mayflower. We hope we don't have to do another cross-country move again soon (or ever) but if we need to, we will call Merit Moving Systems/Mayflower again. The first time was to help move items into a POD when we listed our home for sale. Fernando was so great to work with that we hired them again for our full cross-country move from California to New York once our home sold. What really stood out was how different they were from other moving companies -- our belongings were never combined with another shipment, they carefully packed and protected our large fragile items, and everything was wrapped and handled with incredible care. They made the cross-country move feel effortless, and our belongings arrived the day after we flew in. The entire process was seamless. But I must say there is a concerning lack of professionalism in both communication regarding the logistics and handling of the furniture. They did not wrap/pad most of the furniture, did not disassemble the dining table until we asked, and during drop-off there did not seem to be much careful organization or consideration of which furniture to move in first. For example, they moved the TV in before the TV unit and thus had to put the TV on the floor in a way that could have damaged the TV screen when they later moved the TV unit into the room. On top of this we were never informed of the fact that if the move exceeds 10 minutes into the next hour we would be charged for the full hour. The original quote did not include all the fees that were later disclosed when we paid the full balance. When I expressed my concerns regarding their failure to communicate these fees beforehand, I was not given a sincere apology. Overall, the movers seem like very nice people and I sincerely appreciate their hard work, especially considering that one of the furniture (a rocking chair) was quite sizable and required some maneuvering to fit through the door and limited space at the drop-off location. However, I personally would not be using their service again and hope they can improve their workflow for other future customers.

Without them we would have been stuck in California and with broken U-Haul. So we originally wanted to drive our U-Haul truck on our own and just need them to load our truck. So after loading our U-Haul truck they offered to drive it for us, but I told my husband no we can do it ourselves just have them load the truck. They loaded the truck fast and packaged everything well so nothing got broken or damaged. After that we left and started driving to Texas, not even two hours into driving did our U-Haul truck broke down. So we called kamysh and his brother to see if they could still move us and use one of their truck instead.that same night we called them he agreed to get a truck and move us to Texas. So kamysh and his brother unloaded our U-Haul in front of our hotel and loaded everything up again in their truck for the second time. After the truck was loaded they left on Wednesday from our hotel to Texas and arrived with our stuff on Friday. We flew from California to Texas and met them at our house on Friday morning. They unloaded the truck and put everything in it place. No issue with missing stuff or increasing the amount. They did such an amazing job. I highly recommend this company to anyone. Trust me you will not regret it. I was worried and hastened in the beginning because of all the horrible stories and dealing with the broker.
