Saturday am visit to our favorite metal supply store in local area. Today we shopped for some round steel tubes and brackets. We are customizing some patio curtains for our gazebo and wanted quality products that would last a long time. Took us but a minute to pick out, order & will call in the back! Great friendly service and ease of shopping! Cant wait for our next project to come back! read more

The only reason I'm giving a star was because I got a 4x4x20 tube that they had in stock the day I needed it, but I lost 3hrs I could've used to be on the job site and it was double the price compared to your local Patton's. They sell you with their showroom and they a large variety of materials for metal working but it's honestly not worth the wait, customer service, and price. They don't even price match. I had made a material list of what I needed and they were quoting me at $1,200 before tax and Pattons came in at $690. I even showed them proof and they refused to match the price. Anyway I placed the order at IMS for that single tube... I went to Patton got the rest of the material there (took only 20min to place the order and drive out with my material) and when I got back to IMS still waited another half hour to get single tube on my truck. The worst part is when the sales rep has you in hopes that the material is there only to have you wait 1 1/2 hrs and tell you they don't have it... they have to email their own guys to do a stock check. Idk why they can't just walk over themselves to check. First and last time here read more

Made us lose a lot of time, they kept telling us they were waiting on a stock check taking over 40 to finally place an order, killed a lot of our time. In total we lost about 2 hours here. The prices are terrible, a 2x2 was 64$, although Patton steel supply is a bit further it's it's only 34$ for a 2x2, if you could I would go to Pattons steel supply. After all the time wasted and absolutely terrible price we dropped our order and headed to Patton steel, our order went from 1200$ at industrial metal supply to about 750 at at Pattons. read more

If you're not concerned about a perfect piece of metal, check out their huge remnant selection.

If you need a small 4'x4' sheet of any material because you're in a pinch this place is NOT the place to go to. I ordered metal and they said it will be done in 30 minutes. Well it's been an hour and a half waiting in there lot. They move slow in the back it's ridiculous! read more

They have a good variety of material very good customer service. They deliver or you can pick up they will load your truck.

Called around asking for sheet metals and pricing and in my favor this place was closer to me than the one in Orange County and appeared fairly priced. People are friendly, patience, and nice. I loved seeing a women worker amongst a field and career full of men, whom I was lucky enough to be the one who helped me. Personally I didn't know what exactly I was buying but as a typical women, I knew I was coming out spending money. This place has all types of sheet metals that got me confused more than life itself. I explained to the lady what I was looking for, the dimensions, and what exactly I was planning on doing which we found the perfect gauge match and I was ready to be off with my sheet metal. Definitely recommend this place for those who are looking for sheet metals for any special projects. read more

Update 3/28 Debi reaches out to me and was very nice and apologetic. They are going to make the situation right and I will continue to shop with IMS. Placed 2 tubing orders with a salesman named Nels and Greg. Both orders had the same delivery address however somehow only 1 order arrived(Greg's). I had to schedule a second delivery and pay a friend to wait for it. The delivery address was not corrected and the poor driver had to figure out the situation and correct Nels 2nd mistake. When the order arrived it wasn't complete. I was not given final invoices, apologies or any follow up. read more

Place has what you need. Unfortunately they must not want to sell it... just left on a wed at noon after they told me it would be a 2 hour wait to get someone to pull a 4x8 painted .030 sheet of alum.. sadly I don't have an extra 2 hours to wait. Maybe walk ins are not priority? read more

Ims does pretty good at remnants and usually has alot to choose from. However, if you order material from the back, they are very slow requiring a 3hr time to cut metal, even 1 piece. Recently I ordered a piece which came to $87 and wasn't going to be ready for 3hrs, 1 cut in 1" bar. I canceled the order and went to k&h to see if the could do better. 1 mi down the road. My piece was ready in 10 min and the total was $47, same piece, same quality. Hopefully, this will help when people don't have the time to wait 3hrs read more

My first experience at the store was mixed. The store was nice but the manager was very rude. I had a issue with the way the metal I bought was cut. The helpful and very friendly lady who helped me brought the situation to the manager he replied with " I don't see how this is my problem" and ended up charging me for another piece of metal. I had no clue I needed to discuss the grain of the cut. I just assumed they would cut it Long ways since I needed strips. Sorry I'm not a professional in the metal industry. I drove over 45min to get to the store and after that I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Some of the best and most knowledgeable folks in the metal industry. Always have what I need.

Just horrible. Sale person ignorance on a size was unwilling to find more information on it. This was lazy I all about. Is like shopping at Autozone read more

They had what I needed Lady in the front and in the back are helpful The biggest and only problem was these people are the slowest slowest slowest people on the face of the earth. I didn't need anything crazy and it took them an hour a half to get it to me. They're also expensive compared to other places I go to. I go to whatever is closer to the job site. I would say don't go unless you have too. If you need something order it in the morning and come back couple hours later like lunch time. But beware when you come to pick it up you'll be waiting probably 30 mins. read more

I have been in the metalworking industry for almost 15 years and this place is impressive!! After dealing with many other steel yards that lacked, not only customer service, but inventory and in-house capabilities I finally walked into IMS. WOW!!! This place is clean, organized, and stocked to the gills with material that I have had to special order in the past from other suppliers. All of their material is stored indoors, unlike some yards that have make-shift shelters barely covering the metal and you have to hope that what you need isn't covered in rust. They are a bit out of my way and I have to pass about 3 other metal suppliers to get there but I don't mind. The little bit of extra drive time is well worth it when I know I will find what I need. I will definitely be using IMS from now on! read more

Visited this place recently and was disappointed at the lack of selection. Sales people seemed indifferent to my concerns that what I needed wasn't available in their store. There are plenty of other places around the IE that will supply what you need. Will not be back. read more

Excellent stock. Excellent customer service. Great prices. What else can I say other then I have no need to ever deal with Patton's again.

Austin is the man! He went above and beyond with delivering excellent customer service.

I've been here once and definitely plan on going back for more metal in the future. What I liked: The service there was pretty decent and the counter guys know their stuff. There is a huge variety of metal and the prices are great! I bought two sheet metal pieces, a 4x4 22 gauge and a 4x2 20 gauge -- cold rolled steel. Together the price was under $40. They supply gloves and carts to wheel the metal out, too. Since they are open to the public, they're not afraid of people asking "noob" questions. What I didn't: They need more counter guys during busy parts of the day. I waited in line twice for more than 5 minutes. That's a pretty long time at a supplier like this, unfortunately. Final Judgment: At IMS, you'll probably find some of the cheapest metal around simply because they are so huge and can charge less with the number of products moving through their shelves. If you don't mind waiting, they are definitely going to offer you some of the best metal at the cheapest metal. Even hard to get pieces of metal can be ordered through IMS! read more

I've been to IMS about 5 times and each time has been a pleasant experience. Each member of the staff that has helped me has been very friendly and knowledgeable about differences of products and suggestions for my projects. Prices are competitive as well read more

On behalf of Dr. Mlls' lab at UCR, we are thankful to IMS for providing quality materials necessary for us to continue our research. Using 1/4" brass sheets provided by IMS, we constructed an EM wave shield enclosing an ultra-fast (2 ns) high-voltage (7500 V) solid-state switch, which previously created a powerful EMP causing nearby electronics to frequently malfunction. Over an hour wait for 8pc of 20' Square tubing. They seem to care about serving their customers needs as much as I plan on coming back, which is not at all. I can understand it takes some time to pull material but over an hour with no cuts and no other customer waiting is ridiculous. read more

Had what we needed but very rude associates I asked 3 different people for help and some kind of knowledge on how there pricing works and if they cutt metal and one employee proceeded to tell me that I can figure it out eventually since I was a first timer , then one of the girls at the register was rude and kept acting as if my question didn't matter . read more

I just had a terrible experience with these people. I placed an order on Friday afternoon and was told my material would be available in Irvine Saturday morning for will call. It's Saturday morning at 9:30 and they have a record of the order being placed and don't know where the material is, It's not in Irvine. !WOW! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM "DAVID" in the Riverside office!!! Me as a simple customer I called about purchasing material for a metal fence project I have and I was transferred to a sales rep by the name of "David" I asked him very politely about purchasing some fencing material and he was rude telling me he doesn't know what I'm talking about! He continued to disregard my inexperience as a customer as to the details of the material and he just continued being Obnoxious expecting me to know things that as a salesman he should help me to know! VERY, VERY BAD customer service! If people dislike talking to customers they shouldn't be doing this kind of work! He needs to be removed from there ASAP! read more

This place has it all. They are far superior than Patton's steel of Ontario. The customer service is 10 times better and the speed of the employees here is much better. They are organized at the front checkout counter, as they use a numbering system to keep customers in order. I'm no longer using my account with Patton's and strictly sticking with IMS from now on. read more

This is a good place to get a large variety of metals and in various sizes.
