Indian and Chinese - best of both worlds! My hubby and I ordered a feast of Veggie Chow Mein, Chicken Fried Rice, Vegetable Manchurian, Sesame Tofu, Palak Paneer, and Naan. The Chinese food was spicy and a bity oily. The creamy Palak Paneer was the stand-out dish with fresh spinach gravy and tender paneer pieces. The Naan was large and not dense. Got takeout for the family here the other night. Ordering process was easy and food was ready on time. The best things we got were the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and chili chicken. The Chana masala, chicken curry and shrimp fried rice were all good, nothing too special. Was given plenty of rice too! Sometimes places skimp, but there was more than enough and it was cooked perfectly. My partner and I decided to try Indochen after seeing it pop up on our radar. We sat outside on a warm September evening (inside was pretty empty besides a party in the big room). Food: Melon Chaat - Compressed melon, fresh mint, spices chaat yogurt. The melon chaat is exceptional here! It sounds a little odd for an appetizer, but it is super refreshing and flavorful. I would definitely recommend. Pork Belly - 12 hours sous vide, spiced orange glaze. The pork belly is so tender and juicy, but also a little crispy. The spiced orange glaze was delicious! Fish Mandarin - Pan-fried Whole Pompano, vegetable mandarin sauce. The fish mandarin is such a beautiful dish, the whole-fried fish was cooked perfectly and had a good amount of meat to it. The sauce wasn't my favorite, but it was pretty solid. I wish it was a little spicy or something though. Garlic Naan - Really hot and fresh naan! Super yummy with the garlic, very fluffy too. The service was good, the waitstaff were attentive and helpful. Overall, I was really happy about our meal at Indochen! Having heard positive things, I decided to drop by IndoChen's stand alone restaurant recently for dinner. It's directly located across from the beautiful Brenman Park; and the neighborhood has ample free street parking, even at 6pm. Walking in you're greeted with a simple, but chic interior and we were quickly seated by staff. I went hoping to experience unique Nepali flavors ... and looking to answer the question: what flavors are forged by a people sandwiched geographical between India and China. We kicked off dinner with cocktails, and they tasted great heavenly. I highly recommend you give one a shot. We ordered garlic naan and lamb dumplings for appetizers. The naan was heavenly; soft & chewy, buttered, and flavorful. And the dumplings were freshly made and mouth watering. The name of the dip we got for the naan escapes me but it was something else too and I loved the serving wear used with it's decorated copper handles. With things starting out so strong; I was surprised that the only "miss" of the evening was unfortunately the pork ribs! I really wanted to love these, as they were prepped well (no membrane) and tender. But unfortunately they were completely over seasoned; with the chef using far too much hoisin sauce. Which is best used sparingly because of how salty it is. It was unfortunately a star losing seasoning mishap. Unexpectedly, the fried rice its served with? Was quite literally the best I've had in years. It was just incredible. I left IndoChen wondering if I ordered their best dishes. I also couldn't readily spot (lack of cultural experience and minimal menu descriptions) what dishes I should order to best experience Nepali flavors; and see how those differ from dishes that may exist in India or China, but seasoned differently. And it's why I need to return to try more! While I don't recommend the pork ribs; it's clear the food here is prepared with care. And I want to give them another shot. read more

If you're a fan of Asian food - ranging east asian and south asian flavors - this place will not disappoint as it has numerous options from your classic fried rice or chop suey to the mandarin fish. We ordered: Chicken Tikka Masala (comes w rice) - very tasty, good serving size. the chicken was tender and cooked well. Garlic naan - (2) very tasty, great to dip in with the masala dish. Mandarin Fish - super interesting and delicious dish. i couldn't put my finger on all the spices/flavors but whatever they were, it worked! Huge whole fish, so plentiful to share. Ordered the saag paneer (quality ingredients and not overly processed spinach, cheese wasn't salty like other establishments), butter chicken (incredibly tender chicken and flavorful sauce), garlic naan, and mint sauce. All served with a side of rice. Total bill set us back around $80. The food was delicious, and I would definitely consider Indochen for takeout. We had Chicken Briyani and appetizers. However, service was mixed from the very beginning. I tried to create an online reservation from the website, and the automated response said, "We'll get back to you!". That didn't happen. At 7 pm, I called for a 7:30 reservation. Someone answered, and that worked. When we arrived, there was no host. We stood around for five minutes until we flagged down some staff. They handed us cheap black-and-white menus that looked like they were run off an in-house printer. Service was satisfactory; this is the restaurant for you if keeping your water glass filled is essential. However, the waitstaff didn't ask me if I wanted a second beer, but I did get more water. The food was freshly prepared and well packaged for take away, which I appreciated. While pork ribs aren't the main attraction at Indochen, I have to say that I recommend it highly for repeat customers. The meat was tender and soft, and the fried rice had a mix of vegetables, eggs, and more. I ordered food for take out, but the restaurant was brightly lit and large. I went here for dinner with my best friend. The single best samosas I have ever had. They were spicy but not overwhelming and the cilantro sauce in the middle was incredible. We also had the salmon balls and pork belly small plates. The salmon ball sauce was incredible but could be a bit spicier. It was garlicky perfection. The balls were a bit dense but that's a minor thing. The pork belly was cooked soooo well. The sauce was meh. It was heavily honey based and wayy too sweet. The pork belly in the fish ball sauce would be amazing. For our entrees we shared the chicken chop suey butter chicken and lamb Rogan Josh. There chop suey was absolutely incredible. Just amazing. Get this dish!!! The butter chicken was good but could also use more spice. I love that they use dark meat and cashew paste. The lamb Rogan Josh was great. I liked it more than the butter chicken. I wish the food came out a bit hotter temperature wise... It felt like it was just warm The restaurant is a bit pricey but the ambience is incredible and it is nice. Worth it. Service was good with filling the water glasses and clearing plates but it was impossible to flag down a server to see if we can get some spice sauces *I saw they have this chili oil or vinegar sauce that I wanted to try but couldn't get hold of a waiter to try*. This restaurant is not as close to me as so many in Old Town but I just had to venture out to try it and the drive was very much worth it. This is a hidden gem in the Cameron Station community and it definitely did not disappont. The chicken spring rolls with that delectable sweet and sour sauce (which BTW was still crispy when I got home 20 minutes later) was so delicious. They contained more chicken than vegetables which I really liked. The Kale Chaat was a wonderful surprise and that, too, was so delicately crispy when I got home. It was so well done and how this appetizer maintained its crispiness amazed me. I loved all the tasty accompaniments. The pork belly with that orange glaze with a hint of ginger was so savory. I didn't think it was spicy but maybe some consider ginger as "spicy", not me. It was scrumptious nonetheless. For my entree I ordered Chicken Chow Mein and this was also quite scrummy. I had to tell them to leave out the green peppers because I did not want a gastrointestinal catastrophe. The noodles tasted like there was a hint of curry in them. YUM!! The Lamb Rogan Josh... OMG!!! It was so full of flavor and the lamb practically melted in my mouth. The aroma from it tortured me on my drive home. You get a side of basmati rice which soaks up that amazing sauce. Perfection!! I also got a side of their garlic naan which was wonderful. It was so fresh, herbaceous and garlicky. I loved everything about all the food I ordered. IndoChen was phenomenal. Their entrees are so delicious and they come out fairly quickly. Their spicy margarita is a must have! I love Margaritas and this one is just extra special and full of flavor! If you love pork belly, they have an amazing to share platter just such an amazing introduction to your meal. The cauliflower entree was also just as delectable. The star of the show was the tikka masala of course! We asked them if they could bring spicy sauce on the side and it was perfect! Their dishes are made for every palate whether you like it very little spice you can always ask for the spicy sauce and add more to your liking. The service was awesome any waiter that walked by helped us out wether we wanted another drink or to refill our water, or had questions the menu. The interior is beautiful! Now that it is getting nice outside you can also take advantage of their beautiful outside seating overlooking a gorgeous park you can take a walk after your meal. read more

This was my first time dining indoors since the pandemic hit, and oh it was good to be back!! Restaurant had plenty of space and I felt very safe there Covid-wise. Now onto the food! I got a cocktail to celebrate the occasion, which was pretty good. We wanted to get the kale chaat and melon chaat but they were sold out, so we ordered the samosas (solid) and the chili chicken. It was so nice to eat chili chicken fresh again, and you can really taste the depth of flavoring they use. That was delicious! We couldn't decide between several items for our entrees, so the waiter suggested we try the ribs from the sharing section of the menu. These were fall-off-the-bone tender and quite tasty. These would be a great value for a family, but for the two of us the portion on this dish was HUGE. We'll have several meals of leftovers to enjoy though! I'm actually pretty surprised this place has such a high review. I was really excited when I saw that they had Manchurian, we drove 30 minutes to get here. I will say the ambience is really perfect, I thought it was gorgeous from the second I walked in. However, other than that, the service was really far too slow. I can't count the number of times that we asked each other at the table "when are we going to get to order?" And the food was subpar. Generally, I probably would've finished a very large portion of my food. Today I took over half of it home, because I just really wasn't that impressed. I got the chow mein, veg Manchurian, and fried tofu.... They were okkkkk, but I wouldn't get them again. Also, when I asked my friends if their food was good, the response I got from everyone was "eh." So.......... Not horrrrrible....... But not the best. read more

Delicious dinner. We ordered the chicken spring roll and samosa to start, and both were mouth watering delicious. For our entrees we ordered the shrimp chow mein and the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. Everything was tasty - the tikka masala was rich and the chow mein, although a little greasy, was flavorful. The naan was awesome. Our server was friendly, although very quiet. The atmosphere is a little bland, but clean and roomy. One minor compaint my spouse had was that the chow mein noodles were lo mein noodles, so not exactly what was expected. This review is long overdue! I and my wife went to dine in at Indochen around August of 2020. The menu has something for everyone including a wide variety of Nepalese, Indian, and Chinese selections. We totally loved the fusion of these different cuisines. All the dishes were fairly priced and the portion size was just right: one of the reasons we were able to try so many items during our visit. We both enjoyed everything that came to our table. The service is deeply efficient. All the staffs are extremely loyal and professional. They ensured that we had a great dining experience. Indochen is the spot! Tucked right in between small shops, houses, and a park reminiscent of My Fair Lady, this is the place to go. My friend and I went here after spending the day in Arlington down by the water front. I was looking for that perfect blend of Indian/SE Asian food, as well as indoor dining since it was rainy. Indochen is that place. We found this spot on Yelp (yay!) and drove about 20 minutes. Parking was super easy as there's plenty of street parking along the park. They have contactless pickup for takeout orders and are social distance seating. They have a beautiful photo worthy wall of green which just adds to the cool vibe. We ordered two glasses of white wine and the shared plate chicken biryani. For appetizers we ordered the chicken and lamb dumplings and orange shrimp. We didn't have to wait long between the apps and main course. The dumplings came with a similar sauce for momos. The shrimp was fire!!! The flavors popped and I could have ordered an entire bowlful of just the shrimp. The biryani shared plate was huge!! It came with the traditional yogurt sauce in the middle and a solid amount of chicken pieces. So much deliciousness and the spice level was perfect.
