This is honestly such a little gem in a shopping area in Alexandria. Plenty of parking. Came here for dinner and we were able to get seated with two people fairly quickly. Lots of tables for when it is crowded. Service was very attentive and friendly! The food was absolutely delicious - not too spicy for me (I'm sensitive). I really wanted to love Namaste. I ordered delivery from Namaste one night because I was craving Indian food. It was the closest and highest-rated place that could be delivered within a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, Goat Curry, Samosas, Lamb Korma, and the Aloo Gobhi. Everything was just meh or pretty bad in my opinion. The Goat Curry and the Aloo Gobhi, and Samosas were the best of the bunch. I thought the Butter Chicken was the worst version I've had. the Lamb Korma was nearly unrecognizable and tasted like straight sweet cream with a little spice. Very strange. The more we order carryout from Namaste, the more they become our go-to for Indian in the Franconia/Springfield area. Some faves: samosa, samosa chaat, butter chicken, tandoori chicken or vegetables, garlic naan, lamb biryani, mango lassi (to which I like adding a shot or two of rum LOL). Our family likes heat, but last night all three of us found the medium spice level more than we'd anticipated. Hands down the best Indian food in the area. We DoorDash from here often and the food has been consistently great. I always request small pieces of chicken which also results in a better texture. There has been a few times when I forgot to put that request in and the chicken is just a bit tough. They can also adjust spice levels for their curry's which I love! I had the buffet at Namaste and this is the positive I can say about it . The service and atmosphere were excellent and the water and naan were very good. If this were my introduction to Indian cuisine I'd never eat it again. I sampled all food options on the buffet and they were extraordinarily bland and at times, completely off! It does appear the kitchen staff don't care about food quality they provide their customers. I don't know if the à la cart food is any better, however, I will never return to try it. Unfortunately, this is one of the most over-rated Indian restaurants I've seen. I'm very surprised to read reviews over 3 stars; but, let still share my experience. The service - like the atmosphere of the place - was both dull and uninspiring. The staff never once checked on us and was unfriendly and could care less about us being there. It was noticeable. The atmosphere with their grey walls and dim light made it dark and dull, too. The food was way over priced. I ordered the tandoori paneer tika and for ~$10 it only had 3 pieces and that too was dry with little taste/flavor. Very disappointing. The malai kofta and dhaal makhani was not bad actually, but for ~$15 it was definitely not worth it. One thing I noticed was the lack of Indians at the Indian restaurant, which is telling of what Indians themselves think of the place. Overall and sadly to say this restaurant with its dull atmosphere, lack luster service, and high prices get 2.5/5. I'm still astonished by the positive reviews on here, it was most certainly not my experience or close to it; it sure if management has changed or what, but there are tons of other Indian restaurants and street type food places that are much better. read more

I've been here once and ordered takeout 6 times and the food has always been on point. I highly recommend you check them out.

It's only my first time trying them and trying Chicken tikka Marsala but It was so yummy and creamy. 4.7 is more accurate. I did end up adding more salt but that's a personal preference. I asked for mild because I was scared medium might be too much but it wasn't spicy at all and will try medium next time. I'm glad I listened to the reviews because sweet butter chicken doesn't sit right with me but I will come back to give it a try anyways because I'm a sucker for butter chicken. The rice portion was ridiculously small for the amount of butter chicken I got. Luckily I always have naan and rice at home but for anyone who else, it's not enough rice! Ordered takeouts for anniversary lunch. Because they had forgotten to put naans last two times, I reminded my husband to check for the bread. When he got home, I noticed one rice was missing and they double charged us on one dish. That's $17.99 + $2.99 for rice. My husband checked for the naans but didn't double check on other things. Sigh~ When I called to complain, the person who had taken the order told me that I wasn't telling the truth. I suppose he has lots of customers lying about things being missing. At the moment when the man flat out called me a liar, I wanted to drive over there for a full refund. When I received my dish it was one to two days old one piece of Lamb was refrigerated and cold., So I was shocked and amazed, the temperature & textures were different. The staff otherwise, are calm and collected as I signed up two dollar tip because they gave me discretionary (15%) military discount; I do not recommend unless they are more honest with their customers as noted in this past July and August. Namaste is fantastic! I've had lunch here twice recently and it's always been pretty empty so service is fast and food comes out quickly too. I was told there used to be a lunch buffet, but it seems they are no longer doing that. Lots of great vegetarian options of course - the paneer tikka masala comes in a fantastic sauce with lots of paneer. I'd highly recommend getting the naan basket - you get lots of naan (and a variety too) which pairs so well with the saucier dishes. The garlic naan is my favorite is if you don't want the whole basket, I'd recommend that. The palak chat is a great appetizer - the spinach comes out so crunchy, although it is served cold which surprised me a bit. We ordered it when we they had just opened for the day so I suppose it must be prepared earlier in the day or the previous day. Definitely will be back! read more

We came to enjoy dinner on a Saturday evening. We arrived relatively early at around 6 and the restaurant was relatively empty. But by the time we left it had mostly filled up. Namaste seems to do a lot of take out business and there was a continual stream of bags being brought to the front door for people to pick up. The decor is relatively Spartan. There are booths lining one side of the restaurant and a fair number of tables also. Each table is provided ample space for privacy-in some places the tables are crowded together. Not here. The staff were very attentive, providing us with menus very soon after we arrived. We were served our drinks and given an opportunity to enjoy these before the waitstaff brought the soup and appetizer. The Mulliagatawny Soup was very flavorful and satisfying on a chilly evening. The Masala Calamari was not particularly good. While the flavor and roasted veges were good, the calamari were deep fried and frankly, pretty greasy. For entrees, my wife ordered the seafood platter. This was nicely flavored and consisted of shrimp and salmon baked in the clay oven. The shrimp were tender as was the salmon. My prawn vindaloo was served with a generous portion of prawns in a spicy and flavorful sauce. The prawns were fresh and high quality. The basmati rice that accompanied my dish was flavorful and flaky, clearly made freshly to the order. Our garlic Naan was equally fresh. We finished our meal with my favorite Indian dessert Rasmalai. Amazing sauces they serve here as for the curry and Chicken Masala. Probably one of the best I have had, unfortunately the meat was a bit dry and not to my expectations. The garlic naan, mango lassi, and desserts were also great. Loved everything else at this restaurant. Very friendly staff and great service. If you get the mixed grill keep in mind it is majority chicken and only one piece of meat for each other meat side. Great restaurant to eat at for the sauces!! The Gulab Jamun is a VERY sweet dessert but I personally really enjoyed it. It can be too sweet for many but I eat sweets all the time so I wasn't too phased. The kheer was also good. We ordered a few different dishes, and my takes on them varied a bit. - Tandoori Paneer Tikka - Generous slices of paneer, with a good moisture level, marinated in an incredible hot and sour masala. Beautifully grilled. I actually wish the paneer were less generously cut because I wanted more of the marinade. - Chicken Tikka Masala - While this is normally a go-to, I admit to being disappointed. Both texture and taste were different than I was expecting, almost more like a traditional curry. I actually wondered if it was influenced by a Nepalese way of making the dish - Samosas - flavorful throughout. Not a version that makes me clamor for more, but well and respectably done -Garlic Naan - I always appreciate when people take the garlic part seriously. Namaste is tucked away in the corner of Rose Hill shopping center. I've always ordered delivery from this place but this is the first time I've stopped in for lunch. They don't have their famous (I think!) lunch buffet anymore because of COVID but the food is still fantastic nonetheless. We were greeted and seated right away in a mostly empty and clean space. There were two other parties eating but we were also socially distanced. We started with the samosa, which came with 2 pieces. Very flavorful with ample sauces. I'm not sure what the sauces are but I always love using the green one (it's a minty fresh kind). We also shared a mango lassie that had a good balance of mango and yoghurt. The thickness was also good - a little less than a smoothie. Moving on to the entree of Chicken tikka masala which I shared with my friend - it was delicious and creamy and came with rice. I honestly love the cuts of tomato and green pepper in it which gives another layer of yum. We ordered one garlic naan that came cut up in quarters which we appreciated for sharing purposes.
