Very cute and quiet! The food was tasty and the drink was pretty good. Service was good and quick.

This place was decent. The food was good, but make sure you specify the spice level. The drinks weren't anything to write home about. The restaurant itself was pretty and had lovey decoration.

We came on a Friday evening with a large group (8 people) and made a reservation in advance. The service was really great, especially considering our large party. Highly recommend the buffalo and pork jhol momos, they were my favorite dishes of the night. The biryani was also very aromatic and flavorful, and the gobi manchurian was delicious. The goat curry in the dhindo thali was a bit too spicy for me, but still good flavor-wise. I also recommend the chaang, a type of fermented rice drink, which is slightly sweet and goes well with the spicy foods.

Came here with a large group of friends and the restaurant was able to accommodate all of us! We shared the buffalo and pork jhol momos, combo biryani, and the gobi manchurian. Everything was delicious, especially the biryani imo! One friend has a severe dairy allergy and they were able to check the ingredients in everything for us. We also shared a pitcher of the chaang which I wasn't sure I was going to like since I'm not a sake girl but I actually loved it. Was very easy to sip due to it's mild and slightly sweet flavor. And I got the dhindo thali with goat curry which was delicious! Never had dhindo before but it reminded me of fufu. I love trying new things. Goat curry was delicious but the goat pieces weren't as tender as I would have liked. The pickles and veggies were also delicious. The tandoori naan is ok, super thin and not very flavorful - reminds me more of a roti. Prices are a bit high ($27 for my thali) but it's doable if you share a bunch of dishes with friends. Overall I'd come back here.

I'm not a huge fan of Indian food, but I was with a group that likes it so I was up for giving it a try. We ordered a wide range of dishes to share. They were generally pretty good, but in my limited experience with Indian food, I have definitely had better. The ambiance of the restaurant was a little underwhelming, but it was fine. Overall , not a bad experience, but it just isn;t my favorite kind of food.

Omg!!! This place is so good. I went during Adams Morgan day and I was blown away. It was just me in there so service was top tier. The food was 20/10. The samosas were so filling!! I loved the vibe. It reminded me of the restaurants back home. Will return!!

Came here with some friends and it was sooo delicious!! This is hands down the best Nepali restaurant in DC!!! We got the thali with khassi and the plant based momos and everything was so incredible!!! The owner is so nice and made us feel welcomed and like family!! We will definitely be back!!

Decent place, food was good , I think the strength here was to get less of the "indian stuff" and more of the other stuff. The chicken tika was very tomato based ,which some love but the classic indian flavor wasn't there for me! Also, not a lot of chicken. The chicken biryani was an original blend , not the best but interesting enough to say its good, Cozy little spot not a bad place to grab a bite . Service was good .

Delicious Nepalese restaurant in Adams Morgan! I love Nepalese food and try to eat it often; this restaurant lived up to the hype for sure. The momos were a great start with a very hearty filling--they did not taste like a bland veggie dumpling in any way! For entrees, we ordered the thali and the butter chicken. Both came with perfectly cooked chicken in gorgeous sauces. Our service was extremely prompt, which was great since we were in a hurry. And the interior was beautiful and pretty empty too. Definitely come check this restaurant out!

I'm not a huge fan. The location is really nice, but the food is very average. The Momos tasted like trader Joe's' dumplings. The waitstaff was unable to answer any questions, such as what does fried vs. pan friend mean when it comes to Momos? Are fried Momos deep fried? The staff was anxious to take our order and almost pushing us too. We felt that was very unnecessary.

I left feeling full and happy. This place is the real deal. I came here with 2 of my friends and they were both impressed by the food. We ordered 1 appetizer (gobi manchurian) and 2 entrees (paneer masala and veggie jhul momos) which was plenty for us. The vibe of this restaurant is really nice, and service was quick. I usually drink water quickly, and they refilled it every time. There was hand sanitizer on each table, which every restaurant should do. This is how we rated each dish: 4.5 - gobi manchurian. This was crispy and a little spicy, but delicious. Highly recommend! 3 - paneer masala. This was a bit more plain but a classic. I think this was more of a miss because it's a bit sweeter than we would have preferred. They could've added more vegetables in it, it was just plain paneer. If you want another vegetarian entree with a bit more spice and flavor, I would recommend the eggplant dish instead. 4.5 - jhul momos. I'm not vegetarian but I actually prefer the veg momos over the chicken. I believe the jhul momos had cabbage in it, and my friend and I usually don't like cabbage but this was delicious. 4.5 - garlic naan. Bread could've been softer but I liked the garlic coating. It was crispy, just not as fluffy as it could've been. 3.5 - mango lassi. In my opinion, lassi could've been sweeter. Overall, 5/5 restaurant. Second time coming, and hopefully won't be the last.

This was my first foray into Nepalese food. Nepalese is similar to Indian cuisine, which makes sense as the countries share a border. We tried the chicken momo dumplings and the Nepalese style curry. The chicken momo was good, though in my mind I would have wanted those more as an appetizer than a main dish. The curry consisted of a choice of protein and then onions in a tomato-based sauce cooked with roasted cumin, coriander, cilantro, and green onion. Since I selected chicken the dish was $19. I would have liked there to be more ingredients than meat and sauce in the curry, but that's not a restaurant-specific opinion. The curry was made-to-order, and the chicken was well cooked. The space is in a fun area and decorated with interesting art and murals. If you're seated in the alcove, you can sit on decorated pillows.

I do think this review could be beneficial for others with a number of severe food allergies, but I want to be clear about how the restaurant tried to rectify the situation because my bad experience wouldn't necessarily reflect the experience of others. The reservation site requires you to input any allergies ahead of time so that they can accommodate you. I've used this many times before at other restaurants and never had an issue. In my experience, restaurants will be prepared with the allergy ticket at arrival. I have also eaten at numerous Indian restaurants before without issue, and I had a friend with me who had suggested this place because Indian restaurants are usually accommodating, in their experience. When I sat down at our table and mentioned my allergies, the waiter immediately said that I chose the wrong restaurant. This struck me as quite rude, and I was shocked because I have eaten at so many restaurants in my life and have never been told that. It left a bad taste in my mouth, but we continued to try to work something out. They were unaware of my allergens, so they went to print the allergen ticket and discuss with the chef. When they returned, they pointed to 2 items on the menu. Both of those had my worst allergens in them. At this point I was starting to get concerned for my safety if I were to eat what they prepared. After identifying those allergens on the pre-written reservation ticket, they spoke with the chef again and said they could make a dish from scratch. To be fair, they were doing their due diligence to rectify the issue, however, at this point I was concerned about the attitude toward my allergies and their mistake in suggesting what would be safe to eat. We decided to leave and went to Chef Geoff's down the street. I recommend you compare my experiences at these two restaurants if you have food allergies. Overall I was honestly shocked and mortified because I have never had an issue like this at any restaurant in my entire allergy-ridden life.

So hard to choose from a menu where everything sounded so good. We got the palak chaat, bhindi ka lonj, gobhi mattar, mint paratha, vegetable pulao, gujarati lasagne, and chili and olive oil naan. Standouts were the palak chaat and mint paratha. The palak chaat was the most well-balanced dish that satisfied every part of the flavor wheel: crispy spinach fritters, some tang from the yogurt and tamarind, sweetness from the date, and a lovely savoriness. The mint paratha was wonderfully flaky and herbaceous. The other dishes were good, but not particularly exciting. For desserts, we had the mango rasmalai and gulab jamun. Generally love ordering gulab jamun whenever I can, and it really hit the spot. The cardamom ice cream was the perfect pairing for it. I can kind of see where they were going with the mango rasmalai and the different textures/presenations of mango, but personally did not find it to be that memorable. Overall, not as mind-blowing as I remember but still enjoyed the meal. Definitely recommend making reservations if you want a table.

Michelin #1: For our first stop in our nation's capital, I am reviewing the Indian restaurant, Rania. This is actually my second time at the restaurant, however I only experienced the 3 course option that time and opted for the full tasting experience this time. Ambiance: 4.2/5.0 The restaurant is simple, yet elegant. The noise level is moderate and you don't have to worry about listening to someone else's conversation all night. I have yet to travel to India, but I imagine a fine-dining establishment there to look something like this with the goblets, arches, and see through walls! Service: 4.4/5.0 In my first trip to Rania, I actually had to bring my golf clubs which the host stored for me and even carried it out when I was leaving (it is extremely heavy). In my second trip, the service was again top notch. The waiter was attentive and enthusiastic making me excited for the full tasting experience. The pace of the meal was also perfect. Food: 4.3 Amuse: Two incredible small bites starting with a Sabudana Vada, a warm and spicy fritter that was soooo good. Next, a Chana masala that had that same incredible warmth but a tomato kick instead. First: The first dish of the tasting was a yellowfin tuna tartar and Pani Puri. The crunch of the pani puri complements the tuna so well and the yuzu vinaigrette was not overpowering. I will say, that there wasn't a wow factor for this dish however, but still tasted good. Second: Next up was a scallop dish with an Amritsari (cooking style that blends spices for a burst of flavor) sauce. The scallop was cooked perfectly and sauce is no joke. At first the flavor is subtle as you really taste the scallop, but then the kick comes in and it is delicious! Third: The next course was a Nargisi Kofta quail egg, Swiss chard, truffle cream, and pickled mushrooms. Think of a scotch egg with chicken as the outer covering. This dish was surprisingly spicy (you see a theme here), but the creamy sauce complimented the crispy chicken so well. If it's too spicy, make sure to eat the chard to give yourself a break. This was fantastic, but be warned, it's deceptively spicy! Fourth: I then had a Shrimp momo which is a shrimp dumpling. The dumpling sits in a moilee sauce which is coconut based. First off, I will admit that shrimp dumplings are not my favorite, but it was perfectly cooked in this dish. The sauce has a great savory and nutty flavor. However, there was a bit of an aftertaste that I couldn't wrap my head around. Fifth: For my fifth dish I got to eat a Lamb Seekh kabob. The lamb is incredibly tender and the Kashumber (cucumber in yogurt) is a perfect compliment. I will say that the flavors weren't as strong, perhaps because the previous dishes were so powerful. Sixth: The last savory dish was my selection of the duck vindaloo (chose over the squab tandoori). Vindaloo is a spicy curry and think of the duck like a duck confit. The skin is so crispy and the meat is extremely tender. The duck also comes with naan, rice, and lentils. This feels like a traditional Indian meal but elevated to the max. So much flavor, perfect cook, and the best accompaniments, my favorite part of the meal. Dessert: To wrap everything up, dessert was a chocolate tart with masala chai ice cream. The chai flavor balanced out the dark chocolate fudge to perfection. As someone who doesn't really like chocolate, the chai itself made me want more. Overall: 4.3/5.0 Just like my first trip, the food was great, ambiance serene, and service superb. There were a couple of dishes that didn't wow but overall I can't complain at all. As someone who loves Indian food, this experience elevates while keeping true to its roots. Rania is absolutely deserving of its star, and I can't wait to return!

The low light really brings a intimate and exclusive mood to your experience here. Service: Before being sat, being greeted and being sat was slow, there was only us and another group and the venue was not packed or busy. We waited quite a while to be greeted at our table as well aftwr being seated. However, during the experience, service was exceptional. From serve staff taking explaining the dishes to us to the staff wiping up our table between courses. Their attention to detail and promptness was lovely. At one point I had to leave the table for a long period of time so I missed the 5th course. They took it away because it was cold and brought me a fresh hot dish. They were extremely kind and thoughtful of my 9 year old. Misc notes before food review: This is not a kid friendly venue, especially if you have a picky eater or a child that doesn't like to venture out or expand their palate. There are options that kids could like but very limited. They do get to choose a la carte from the regular 4 course meal menu. There is a parking garage across the road that closes at 10. Worst parking and customer service experience of my life. Please dont pay to park here if you can help it. There's if some free or pay to park street parking. They have a 4 course regular menu for $90pp and a 7 course chef tasting menu for $175pp. The chef tasting menu is said to be limited time but looking at the other reviews, it seems like the chef tasting is pretty much the same and one or two courses vary. We were able to do the 7 course experience for $125 due to a promotion going on. Everyone had to do the same experience. Portions are quite small and you may leave not fully satiated. But the experience is lovely. I would say it is a little over priced, but again we pay for the ambience, presentation and experience. Drinks: I really enjoyed the drinks I was able to try. They are an experience when you receive them. The presentation is so lovely. See pictures. I got to try the lychee bomb which was excellent, and my favorite of the drinks I tried. Love the flavor pairings, sweet with some savory hints. Hocus pocus was a bourbon lovers dream. Great pairing of the berry puree and bitters with bourbon. The this is not lassi was really nice with lassi flavors with blackberry hints. And thick as well. The blush and bashful was tart and really unique. I tried it without the foam. And lastly the spring awakening, this was my least favorite. The alcohol pairing with the kiwi cucumber flavors didnt really fit to me. All the drinks definitely could tell had alcohol. Food: We did the non-vegetarian tasting with 7 courses. They do have a vegetarian tasting as well. The presentation of all the food was pretty lovely and I quite enjoyed that aspect. The sabudana vada and chana masala panisse was lovely, super flavorful and I would say my #2 for the night. Perfect start. First course - The tuna tartar pani puri was really nice and unique. I would never have thought to pair tuna with pani puri but it really worked. My #4 for the night. Second course - Hokkaido scallop... it was perfect. The hollandaise was so flavorful but did not over power the jumbo scallops natural taste. And the scallop wasnt over cooked. This is a scallop lovers dream. My #1 for the night. Third course - quail egg kaftan, this was a dense kofta, which i appreciated. Fourth course - black cod. It initially appeared undercooked and thought it would have a fishy smell and taste. Pleasantly surprised with the delicate way it was prepared yet no fishy taste or smell. Fifth course - lamb seekh kabob - this was a hand held one, which I enjoyed. All the flavors in one bite really brought thr flavors out. However this was probably my least favorite of the dishes. Sixth - pork cheeks vindaloo was really nice. Very tender and moist and rhe sauce was quite nice. Pre dessert was exquisite. It was so refreshing, cleansing, cool, and tart. It made my mouth water for dessert. Dessert we had the chocolate tart which was nice but nothing special that I noted. The chocolate and the crunch went nicely together. However if I had to choose I would go with the kesari mango dessert. My 9 year old waa able to do a la cart from the 4 course meal choices. The beef short rib was amazing! So tender, so we'll cooked, so flavorful I throughly enjoyed it. My #3 for the night. Garlic naan was soft and not to burnt. And her dessert, the kesari mango was super delicious especially the sesame brittle. Id love to try this one again. I probably wouldn't come here again unless someone specifically requested to come here. But overall my experience was a nice one. It was nice to try this once.
