Indian Table is a hidden gem in Cobble Hill. I've lived in the neighborhood for a long time but only a spontaneous Monday evening did I decide to come in when wanting to try something new and I'm so glad I did. We were able to walk in with no reservation and grab a table easily and were greeted by happy and friendly staff. The tables themselves are casual yet elevated with white tablecloths. Earlier in the day I had a craving for croquettes, so we decided to order our drinks and the fried delights with some garlic naan as our starter. Our drinks arrived first, the goa trance cocktail and the maka zai mocktail. The maka zai mocktail was delicious, the perfect blend of sour and sweet soda with notes of mint. The goa trance was unlike anything I've ever tasted. It truly tasted like drinking a lily pond in heaven and was served with the cutest pearl of vanilla ice cream inside a floating puff pastry. It was an instant hit. The cod fish croquettes were next to arrive and OMG. These might be some of my favorite croquettes I've ever had. Perfectly crunchy and soft on the inside, I was blown away by the mixed textures that blended together perfectly. For our mains we ordered the butter chicken and the shrimp biryani. Both were incredible. The shrimp biryani was served inside of a beautiful goan pottery dish with naan enclosing the dish. Our friendly waiter cut the naan at our table allowing the steam to pour out of the dish. The aromatics were unbelievable. The dish was comforting and delicious with the perfect amount of spices to offer a gentle yet reassuring kick. The butter chicken was also drool worthy with its steamy and creamy finish. There was not one bite that disappointed. Pro tip: save the garlic naan for dipping into the extra sauce - YUM-O!!

Indian Table offers a refreshing departure from the standard Indian restaurant experience. The Goan influence, shaped by Portuguese colonial history, adds a distinctive depth to the menu, with several dishes that felt both unfamiliar and thoughtfully executed in the best way. Service was equally impressive: attentive without being intrusive, with water glasses refilled almost instantly throughout the meal. The ambiance strikes that rare balance between lively and intimate, making it an excellent choice for a relaxed dinner with friends.

Amazjng dishes and space, would highly recommend coming here as the owner is sweet and great cocktail list using faeni. Every dish here has character and unique unlike any other restaurants I have visited in NYC.

I love this cute place. We love love love Indian food and this place is very good. Lunch special was worth to try. The lunch special has a lot of options. The ambience is very cute and clean. Appetizer + curry × rice + small one bite dessert. Authentic. Service is very kind and attentive and they gave me extra rice for left over. How nice... the small gesture makes 4 stars up to 5 stars.

Very good naan. Nice Goan fish curry and butter chicken. The cauliflower appetizer was yum. Friendly service. Seating was a bit squishy.

Since my last review, I've been to Indian Table several times outside of Restaurant Week. A visit last night with my friend served as an introduction for him since he's never been. With an Indian background, he is a tough critic when it comes to the cuisine. We had a feast like no other. It was a beautiful summer like September evening which called for patio seating and theirs was very cozy and spacious. My friend started off with a delicious (I took a sip hehe) Ginger Pineapple Mocktail--a popular choice on many tables while I chose old reliable. Diet Coke. The menu and inspiration of their dishes originates from Goa. And it's delicious. For starters, we chose Gobi and the Masala Omelet. Gobi is traditionally deep fried Cauliflower immersed with spices and theirs was executed very well. The Masala omelet was unlike anything I've tasted with a nice kick, served with a tiny bread for sopping up the gravy. For Mains, we shared the Fish Curry in a clay pot and the traditional Goan Roasted Chicken. I tried the Fish Curry in the past and it continues to be a favorite selection. All dishes had an element of spice to it , some more than others. The Goan Chicken was amazing. Served with Potatoes and Caramelized onions, it was certainly shareable. In addition, my friend ordered the Goa dinner rolls, Roti and Saag Paneer. All were excellent. The rolls were really buttery and served warm. The perfect comfort food accompaniment for such a meal. It wasn't long before I got full since we over ordered. My friend bragged about the delicious food throughout dinner and had some room for dessert. He wrapped things up with a Mango Lassi and a Tiramisu like cake, only lighter. I had a taste of this delicious dessert . It was a wonderful dining experience and the fact that the dining room and patio were packed proved Indian Table is a much loved restaurant in Cobble Hill. Service, however, was pretty slow at times but I chalked it up to a very busy kitchen. On another note, I observed an increase in prices. Chicken Tandoori increased from $25 to $30. And Diet Coke at $6? That's just outrageous. This needs a price adjustment. If you are interested in trying Indian food on a different level, pay Indian Table a visit.

We had a lovely dinner at Indian Table the other night. The food is Goan so expect to find dishes slightly different from your usual Indian restaurant. I started with a cocktail called Susegad which is made with Feni, a liquor indigenous to Goa. The drink looked super cute and tasted great (though I'll note that Feni has a somewhat specific taste that might not be for everyone). Next we had the Lasuni Gobi which was perfectly tender and flavor packed. For my main, I wanted something traditionally Goan and was happy to find a vegetarian Xacuti on the menu made with mushrooms. The gravy seems a bit more nutty or earthy than your usual Indian curry but was absolutely delicious. Together with the Poder Pao this was an absolute treat. My personal highlight was the desert. We shared the Bebinca and Serradura. Both were delicious but the Serradura with its subtle sweetness and light, fluffy texture was the clear winner for me. The others also had the Chettinad chicken with garlic naan which they enjoyed. While the gravy could have been a tad spicier, the chicken was nice and tender. The service throughout was great, our servers friendly, caring and attentive. They're clearly passionate about their food and made sure we had the best time. Highly recommend eating here if you want a slightly upscale experience!

I love that they stayed open for us to eat. Thank you for that. They do close early. Please do visit, pictures on walls and each table has a different design. Beautiful. Very warm n cozy. Friendly environment and staff. $$ they're more of a wine than cocktails.

I absolutely loved my meal here - the food is delicious and gorgeously presented, and each dish came with a small explanation of the history from the staff. The food was very unique, the Goan dishes are totally different from most other Indian restaurants I've tried. Ros Omelette - savory and flavorful omelette with the deliciously creamy, nutty, and complex xacuti gravy over top. The poee bread is small, but rich and buttery, and perfect for scooping up the gravy. Paneer Kundan Kalia - tomatoey and rich, with distinct sweetness that I found really unique. The paneer cutlets aren't just solid - they're almost like a mixed kebab, yielding a nice, almost crumbly texture when you cut into them. I didn't try the xacuti de galinha, but my partner really enjoyed it. The bill came to about $85 with tax and tip, which is quite good for two people. I'll certainly be back to try some of the other options.

Indian Table is an idyllic outpost in Cobble hill with a quaint backyard and beautiful interior that invites guests in to a different world. The ambiance of this restaurant is beautiful and cannot be beat. Perfect for a late summer dinner with friends or a quiet relaxing date. I came here very excited because I read so much about the food. I am also a big seafood girlie so the chance to experience an Indian/Goan twist on that was super appetizing to me. We opted to go for the restaurant week menu which was a three course dinner designed by the chef. We started with the shrimp appetizer and the mutton cutlet. The shrimp was delicious and spiced perfectly, tender and not overcooked. The mutton cutlet was reminiscent of shaami kabab albeit it was a little on the grainier side which I didn't like. The texture on the outside was superb though, it was fried perfectly and the spices, although mild, were very well balanced. This cutlet could use a little more mutton in it. My friend and I went for the mutton and fish thali - an Indian style assortment platter of different dishes. Both our platters came with a spicy coconut paste, a sauce, papadum, a bowl of rice and rice flour bread. These items were good and pretty standard. My platter had a filet of masala fish fry. The spices on this fish were good but I found the texture of the fish used really off-putting. It was a really firm fish, and with masala I like it when the fish is a little softer and melt in your mouth. Because the fish was firm the spices didn't penetrate the flesh as well as they could have either, which took away from what this dish is supposed to be. My platter also had a green masala fish curry. I had high hopes for this curry but it fell flat. The spices were extremely muted, I would say just a hint and when you added rice it literally tasted bland, which I hate to say because this dish had so much potential. The other item on my thali were the clams. These were absolutely phenomenal. The spice, the texture of the clams were a perfect marriage. I devoured these and wish I had more of these on my plate. My friend's mutton thali had a delicious red chili mutton curry on it which was delicious. The mutton had a lot of bones which was a bit annoying to eat, but the flavor was good. I do think the spices on this were also a bit muted but not as much as my green fish curry. To end the meal we enjoyed the semolina and jack fruit halwa which had an interesting bright and deep flavor. The chocolate buttons on this dessert were a nice touch but I'm not sure if mango was the best pairing with these flavors. It was definitely new and odd. The shirvale was definitely the more superior dessert. I enjoyed the saffron scented milk in this very much and the textures were great. Our server was attentive and friendly and kept things flowing smoothly. I do think maybe if we stuck to their main menu we would've had a better dining experience. I kept turning my head and enviously ogled at some other patron's food and their entrees looked more appetizing than what we had to eat. I think restaurant week is tricky but they should definitely use it to highlight their best existing menu items instead of coming up with a separate menu that may or may not be executed to perfection.

My friend and I stopped in for lunch and split 2 tiffins -- goat and a vegetarian one with okra. I had a soup (I took out the cracker because I wasn't sure if it was gluten free) and she had samosa. Everything was so delicious -- The owner said that that he's been here down 4 years but this was my 1st visit. I look forward to visiting again!

We came here to celebrate my sisters birthday and really enjoyed our food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service was good as they checked up on us often and also explained the dishes thoroughly as well as Goa's history. We got the classic butter chicken, chicken korma and cafrael de Frango and shared. The only complaint I have is charging $5 for a ginger ale and not even receiving the entire can but other than that, we really enjoyed our food and service and would come back!

Kaju-based "Goemchi" feni became one of my favorite drinks after a recent stint in Anjuna. It's a drink that's synonymous with the revelry of the beaches of Goa, but is remarkably hard to find in the States. Indian Table offers some Americanized North Indian dishes, but primarily considers itself as a Goan restaurant and offers a range of feni based cocktails, as well as a number of other Goan classics. Mushrooms are seldom found in South Asian cooking, but perhaps due to historical reasons frequently appear in Goa. I quite enjoyed the classic mushroom xacuti, which had a very rich coriander flavor.

We chose bar seating, which ended up being a bit of a tight squeeze facing the wall; not the most comfortable setup, but manageable for a short meal. To start, we had the pani puri, followed by the samosa chaat. The flavors were good, but the samosa chaat was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't served hot, and the samosa itself was soggy rather than crisp. That contrast in texture is really what makes the dish shine, so it felt like it may have sat a bit too long or was over-sauced. We also tried the vegetable pav, which was decent, and the cod, which was actually very good; nicely cooked with a flavorful sauce. I did find myself wishing we had an extra roti to soak up the rest. For drinks, I had the mango lassi, which I appreciated for not being overly sweet. Service was okay but could be more attentive. My water wasn't refilled after a couple of rounds, and we felt a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We were given the check without being asked about dessert, which caught us off guard. We did ask afterward, but by then decided to go elsewhere. That said, the food overall is flavorful, and I can see why this place has appeal; especially if you're looking for something a little different in the neighborhood. Having met the owner before in Industry City, it's great to see her doing well in Carroll Gardens, and I wish the restaurant continued success.

Since then, we've dined in, and taken out, and the food has been unfailingly delicious. If you can swing it, dining in is always the move. Unlike the aforementioned sushi joint, Dastaan has decorated to make the small space much more colorful, and infinitely more welcoming. It seems to be a family business, judging by the somewhat surly (teenage?) waitress, but she was still there for anything we needed. Plus, you'll get some complimentary papadum with homemade tamarind and green sauce. But either way, the food will be good. The naan is fresh and fluffy, the poori is delightful (this airy goodness is dine-in only, I'd imagine), the lasuni gobi starter is one of my favorite things, and the curries are all deeply rich and flavorful. We've had korma, bhuna, and saag, with seafood or chicken or paneer or lamb. Like my samosa super crispy . Delicata squash appetizer was so good too Amazing Lore thank you once again for a very scrumptious meal !

My wife and I ate lunch here last week and it was exceptionally good!…read more We loved the service, atmosphere and quality of the food and for lunch it was nice and quiet which we loved! We have always ordered take out but on a whim we decided to dine in and we were not let down at all! We ordered samosas, naan , chicken vindaloo with rice and magatalani soup and all of it was delicious and plentiful! I highly recommend eating here if you want authentic Indian cuisine!

Indian Spice was a pleasant surprise to find. Passed by in a walk through the neighborhood with my…read moregirlfriend. We were hungry, walking until something caught our eye. We ordered the sweet and sour eggplant as an appetizer and struggled over decision paralysis before settling on chicken tikka masala and a mango lassi for her and lamb vindaloo for me, plus a bread basket. Our waitress, seemingly oblivious to the notion of profit, warned us we were ordering too much bread before saying, "You could always bring some home," and explaining that the bread basket would consist of our choice of four different naan. More decision paralysis! We picked plain, garlic, onion, and peshwari naan. The eggplant was good, breaded and fried and served with cilantro and tamarind chutneys. Our entrees came out soon after we finished. My girlfriend enjoyed her chicken, and my lamb was tender and spicy without being overwhelmingly so. Each entree was accompanied by a portion of basmati jeera, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The naan were all good, and my girlfriend and I both agreed the peshwari naan was the winner of the pack. The sweet, nutty bread complimented and contrasted the spicy curry of my lamb vindaloo, and my "best bite" was mopping up some of the sauce with it. Sure enough, we had leftovers both of our entrees and 3/4 pieces of naan (two guesses as to which got eaten on the spot), and lunch the next day was delicious. Stumbling distance from the 7 Ave F/G.
