    Ghee masala dosa to go
    Anitha K.

This is the BEST dosa I've ever had and I'm South Indian. I usually get the Ghee Masala dosa and ask for extra spicy (spicy podi and so crispy from the ghee) - it's amazing!! I've also bought extra for the week and noticed it reheats up well on the pan! Which is not the usual case for dosa. They also have other items: filter coffee, masala chai, mini idli, thatte idli and during the summer they have iced drinks. The ghee masala dosa is my fav though and the chutney is good!! They used to be at the fort Greene market but are now looking for a permanent spot. They have a pop up at Nimbus kitchen on Saturday mornings which is great and a little more easily accessible.

The ghee masala dosa was one of the best ones I've ever had. Super buttery and had a great spice level. The dosa texture was crunchy and amazing. Would highly recommend. The wait for one was a bit long. Also the thattle idli was interesting but not my favorite.

Food was great, best dosa, the line was long but it was worth the wait. Would go back.

    Tatte (plate) idli

I finally got around to trying this stand on the side of Fort Greene Park. It was a rainy day but honestly I think that made for a better backdrop to enjoy their cooking. I was most excited for their tatte (plate) idli, which are topped with podi aka "gunpowder." I love the texture of these idlis compared to more traditional ones and I don't think this variety is on offer at any other South Indian restaurant in NY. We also had traditional masala dosas and chai. The dosa was nice and crispy, and was served with a well seasoned nariyal chutney. I found the chai a bit too heavy on the ginger, but it was still comforting on a rainy day. The wait is very long so try their pre ordering feature on their IG page!

This was my second attempt trying Brooklyn Curry Project. A couple of weeks ago I got to the farmers market at 11 and the line was too long. This time I got there before 10:30 and the line was shorter. I ended up getting my food about 1.5 hours later, but bring a book or a friend to catch up with and the wait goes by fast. We ordered a masala dosa and a ghee masala dosa. Both were incredible, but we would choose the ghee masala dosa next time because it was extra crispy and had tomatoes inside which I loved. The dosa was very thin and crispy and the potato filling was tasty. We also tried the iced chai and mango lassi which were good to sip on while we waited for our order. I would also recommend ordering the mini idli sambar because a) it was delicious and b) you get served it before the dosa so it was perfect to snack on while we waited for our food, which did take a while after we ordered. I will definitely be back and I can't stop thinking about the dosa I ate here!

This food was amazing. Get the masala dosa and mini idli sambar, the right amount of food to feel full but not stuffed. and perfect level of spice- truly a south indian gem!!

Baseball is boring, I came here to eat:…read more I've been hearing about the Solber Pupusa truck for a few years now, ever since I think they won a Vendy Award. It was perfect then that I happened to be going for a run in Red Hook when I stumbled upon the row of food trucks right by the baseball field. Remembering the name, I sought out the Solber truck, but it was actually the El Olomega truck right next to it that looked like the right choice, as it had a huge line compared to the pretty empty Solber truck. Therefore, I had no choice but to try both. I started with the Chicken & Cheese Pupusa ($6) at Solber. Though the little Hispanic women working the truck felt the need to laugh at me and make jokes apparently at my expense the entire time I waited, I didn't mind since the food was so good. I kinda wish they talked a little slower and I remembered my AP Spanish from high school a little bit, but I couldn't really make out anything they were saying. After that immensely satisfying mini-meal, I headed over to the long line at El Olomega to try some more of this delicious authentic cuisine. Wisely realizing how heavy that one was that I just had with all that cheese, I opted for the Chicharron Pupusa at this truck (just pork, no cheese) ($5). Not so wisely after a productive run here, I also chose to get the Tostadas, the freshly fried plantain chips ($2). The Pupusa was amazing as I expected - piping hot and very fresh as it was literally just made, but the Tostadas were really incredible. They were so crunchy and delicious, as opposed to the limp, bland plantain chips I typically experience at some much more expensive restaurants. There are a bunch of folding chairs lining the sidewalk near these trucks, as well as a number of picnic tables right inside the park for you to share with others digging in to these delicious plates of goodness. Oh yeah, and did you notice how insanely cheap everything is at both of these trucks? The price of all that stuff I got was roughly the same price as some silly artisanal farm-to-table taco made by some hipster white kid from Michigan in Brooklyn or the Lower East Side somewhere. So forget baseball and Ikea - these cheap little food trucks are the real (or only) reason to come to Red Hook (ok, and Baked has some really good brownies too).
