Well every now and then I crave Indian food and it's one of those moments it's actually the least favorite of the ethnic cuisines of Asia. But they are distinct that I like some of their food and I didn't know any buffets and I kept seeing this restaurant whenever I go to work in downtown Chicago. When I take the blue line and I kept seeing this restaurant when I would eat at Thai lagoon across the street. Well this was my payday and I decided to give this place a bucket list try. It is also still lent so I'm still following the Catholic not eating red meat or poultry. The waitress in regards to service since they just opened up I learned by coincidence since they were renovating mentioned that they did have seafood entrees and of course I didn't want shrimp I ate more on the fish side and they had salmon. But to start off I had the crispy onion pakora which was delicious for an appetizer It's basically almost like a deep fried onion ring with a fresh spinach colored emerald green dip that compliments and it was not too greasy. Then came My main dish of the salmon tikka masala and garlic naan. I would have ordered this in beef or lamb for tikka masala but since it's lent for me I have to eat fish It was okay but it would have been better if this was lamb if I could imagine chewing and savoring The pasty almost tomato like sauce with its spices and tanginess but it also tasted good to it salmon but lamb would have been better. The naan was ok I think a bit too garlicky but I would probably order the butter one next time cuz this was a garlic naan. They're mango lassi was very fresh however one of the reasons for the four stars although they gave me one on the house because they had a very limited dessert menu with ice cream and that's not really traditional Indian. But going back with the lasee the portion was just too small for $5. I would come back again other than that they gave the second last seat on the house and I didn't get charged but I would suggest they add a bigger mango lassee I had mentioned to the waitress or server. On my recent first visit to Indian Paradise, I liked it. My family and I met some friends here for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Reservations are accepted, so we made one just in case if they were busy for a walk-in visit. The restaurant is located on North Ave., in a busy area and available parking is on the streets (I am not familiar with any parking garage or lots in the vicinity). The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated, and the ambiance was good. It's a no-frills or gimmicks, family-friendly restaurant. Their menu has a nice variety of options to choose from and for a Chicago-based restaurant, their pricing is relatively reasonable. We ordered some appetizers along with our entrées. We got Chili Chicken and Chicken Tikka to start and Butter Paneer Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh, Garlic Naan, Spicy Naan, and Tandoor Roti as our entrées. There was one big group dining in besides us. The staff was busy bringing out their dishes. Our food took a bit longer than expected to arrive but it wasn't a bad wait time or anything. The food was freshly prepared. I went for the Chili Chicken as that's what I had ordered as my appetizer. It was spicy and flavorful albeit a bit salty as well. There was a Raita (liquid yogurt dipping sauce) to go with the chili chicken that was helpful for those who didn't like the heat of the dish. It was a decent dish. The Chicken Tikka app dish was just so-so at best. It too was a bit salty. It had a green chutney with it which was pretty good. My favorite dish was the Lamb Rogan Josh. This curry dish was quite flavorful. It had a nice dark color, and was spicy. The Lamb pieces were tender. The Butter Paneer Masala was decent. The Naan and the Tandoori Roti were thin and crisp. There was complimentary basmati rice provided as well. The portion size of all the food was good. We received good service. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Walked down here for a dinner with visiting family on a Monday night. Place was quiet and we got a table right away. We know what we usually like at Indian restaurants, so we were able to order pretty quickly. While we were waiting, we were surprised with a complimentary portion of onion pakora for an appetizer, which I enjoyed tremendously. Mains were similarly enjoyable. I ended up getting the Butter Chicken, and it was some of the best I've had. Sauce was creamy, rich, and more than a hint of tomato. Loved dipping the naan in it. The chicken was perfectly cooked. This pick was a winner! I got lamb korma. Tender chunks of lamb in a rich and creamy sauce with a mild kick. The garlic naan came in handy to sop up the sauce. I ate it all. Donna had kadai chicken. Finally tried Indian Paradise! Craving some Biriyani we ordered the lamb biriyani, gobi Manchurian, and palak paneer for takeout. Everything was packed well, was a good portion, and they were quick to make our order. Now for the food, The Gobi Manchurian was delicious and was our favorite item! The lamb biriyani was solid and definitely curbed my craving. However, I didn't care for the texture of the yogurt (was gooey). The palak paneer was ok in my opinion, I think I just prefer my palak paneer on the creamier side.That being said I'll definitely be back to try the other curries! If you haven't been to this place, you're what's wrong with people today. Hahaha. This page is AWESOME! Food was great. Service was solid. Was a fairly quiet evening. But, the food is so good that, I can't imagine it's quiet here often. Their chutney is really good. But, you have to ask for the regular chutney. Otherwise, they bring you the Americanized version. And, exactly as you would expect, it contains mayo. But, their regular chutney is Outstanding! Those beef samosas...... What the.... Thum jonts were ridiculous! Holy Smokes! I used to love Indian Paradise but my most recent experience was a miss. When I went a few months back, they had the perfect mango lassi. However, this time I couldn't taste any cardamom at all. I also strayed from my usual order of butter chicken and palak paneer, and opted for mango chicken and malai kofta instead. The mango chicken was okay but didnt have pieces of mango as I expected. The malai kofta was unfortunately way too sweet, I didn't enjoy the amount of sugar they seem to add to it (especially when I'm already drinking a sweet lassi). I don't know if they changed their chefs or started catering more to American taste buds but it didn't taste authentic like last time. read more

Here's what we ordered: Chicken Tikka Masala: So good and buttery. I have to come back for this! Palak Paneer: Very flavorful, and I love the generous amount of cottage cheese in there. My mentor and I chose to order an appetizer of vegetable samosas which are huge and super filling. For the entrees, you should know it is A la carte so rices and naans are to be ordered in addition should you choose to indulge. We ordered the palak paneer, navaratan korma, lamb roganash, plain basmati rice and tandoori roti. There is no best dish - they are all phenomenal and highly recommended to try. They are huge enough to share. My favorite of each dish are the sauce. This establishment does an incredible job of stewing and seasoning it. This is authentic and not a rushed job. We weren't a fan of Indian Paradise. The Baingan Bharta was very vinegary, and the Palak Dal and Chana Masala were missing something, but we couldn't put our finger on it. We tried adding salt but that didn't fix it. The herbed rice had a crunchy texture which we didn't like. The white rice was good. Other reviewers seemed to like what they ordered, so I guess we couldn't recommend these dishes. read more

We made a reservation for last Wednesday 5/29 for 7:35p via Open Table. Went to restaurant and it was closed. No sign of anyone in site, chairs turned over on tables, etc. Their website says they are open Mon, Wed, Thurs nights starting at 4p. I get that extenuating circumstances can arise. But please, if you have to close, remove the ability to make a reservation. It would have saved us a long drive over to you and then a quick pivot with a hungry kid in tow to feed the family. read more

Hate to leave a negative review cause I know how difficult it is in this climate. We went for dinner on Wednesday night, and there was 1 other group there. Hostess and server were nice. It's BYOB, so we brought our own wine and they got us glasses. As soon as we opened the wine, the flies came out of nowhere. Not just 2 or 3 like you might expect, but over a swarm of over 20+ fruit flies. We landed up moving across the restaurant, but it wasn't much better. We tried to put out a glass of "sacrificial" wine to draw them away but it didn't help. I attached a photo where you can see them all over the glass. The waitress kept saying it was weird about the flies, but didn't seem bothered by it which is crazy for how many there were. We landed up asking to have our food to go instead of eating there. I was a little surprised that they didn't do anything for our trouble (free nan or comp something), or an apology. As far as the food, we got chicken tikka masala, lamb saag, turmeric rice, and garlic naan. The entrees don't come with rice, and side of rice were 6-8 dollars, so adds up quickly. Sadly, downgrading my previous 5 star review. Ordered take out again and we were really disappointed by the quality of the naan. It seemed like it had been cooked days before and reheated. It was stale, dried out and hard like a cracker. It was also a third of the size of naan you get from most restaurants. I don't know how they justify charging over $4 for that. We also noticed that 2/3 of the gulab jamun were hollow inside and the tamarind chutney had a weird gelatinous texture....very strange. Our curries were all good and flavorful. We tried lamb tikka masala (the favorite), malai kofta, and chicken chettinad. They were all really flavorful and perfectly spicy without killing our tastebuds. Our entrees came with the plain basmati rice. The veggie samosa were fine (minus the weird chutney). I'm sad writing this update because I really wanted this place to be my go-to Indian takeout. I hope they work on bringing the quality back up. read more
