Visited on a Thursday evening. My husband and I both ordered the butter chicken which is our favorite dish to order whenever we eat at Indian restaurants. It was really good and I would order it again however I found it to have more of a tomato-y taste than I would have liked. Service was good however they didn't offer to refill my fountain drink. Absolutely delicious! What a pleasant surprise to find probably the best Indian Food in the Phoenix Valley! It's been a long time since I've had good Indian Food since I moved here. Everything is delicious. The Na'aan bread was nice and crispy with a hint of buttery garlic, the tandoori chicken was seasoned just right and juicy (wasn't dry), and the atmosphere was good. Good number of people dining in (not too busy), and the servers/hostess were nice. Probably the only buffet where the servers are constantly checking on you to refill water/take plates. I drove here all the way from Scottsdale on a Saturday for lunch buffet to see what all the rave was about, and I'm so happy I did! I usually don't go to Indian buffets because I find the quality to be disappointing compared to their a la carte options. Still I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is pretty big and well decorated, although the buffet area looks a little underwhelming with cheap paper signs. Oh well. Food wise, I tried the following - dal makhani, pakora kadhi, malai kofta, vegetable pakora, rice, and garlic naan. I had the vegetable pakora (soft potato cutlets) as my appetizer and they were really good. If you prefer crispy pakora you may not like them. The dal makhani was alright, nothing too special and was lacking a bit of salt. I ate kadhi and malai kofta for the majority of my meal. Most restaurants can't do kadhi well, but here it tasted so close to homemade kadhi with rice. I was in heaven. The malai kofta looked watery and the kofta balls looked overfried/hard, but it tasted fine. With the fresh, crispy garlic naan this was actually pretty satisfying. Not the best malai kofta ever but still good. Also the mango lassi here was delicious - not watered down at all! I don't normally like it at restaurants but I had two glasses here (oops). Total was $12 per person for lunch buffet. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would say it's worth it if you want to do buffet. If I was coming with a larger group or family though I'd probably try a la carte dishes to share across the table. read more

Free flow of garlic naan and mango lassi with the buffet. I rest my case. Seriously though, those two items alone won me over but of all the Indian buffets I've been to, and I've been to a few, they serve up the most variety, catering to both vegetarians and carnivores. Of course, they serve up some pretty awesome desserts (I call them donut holes soaked in syrup, but I'm sure it has a name). Having been to other buffets which advertise having a free flow of naan, I was a little skeptical when I read this on their website. It's like going to Chompie's on St. Patty's Day and ordering their unlimited corned beef dish - after one dish, your waitress disappears. Let me make this clear, not here. At the India Oven, they are on top of it. Are you out of garlic naan? Never fear, that garlic naan is coming right your way. And you definitely want that second or third round of garlic naan. Never mind the garlic breath, it's so worth it. At the buffet table, I honestly much prefer the meat dishes. You can easily find large pieces of lamb or chicken in the curry and get more than your fair share of protein. What bugs me (minor as this is) is that the basmati rice is in the middle of the buffet table. I'm a little OCD about my rice being on the bottom of my plate and having it drown in curry so I had to cut a couple people off and backtrack to the start of the buffet table to load up on the curry. Just a little pet peeve but heck, it didn't make my food taste any less amazing. They had tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, a chicken curry, and I believe two types of lamb curries which I thoroughly enjoyed. I even fancied the lentils over in the vegetarian section - look at me, eating vegetables and stuff. Desserts - I've never seen this many desserts at an Indian buffet. At other buffets, you would have 2-3 desserts to choose from but if memory serves, India Oven gives you a choice of 4+ desserts. Of course I had to have them all, never mind the food coma that was about to hit. - there's always room for dessert. Besides, there's some Indian tea to wash it all down. This is a pretty decent place for Indian food. It's not the best we have ever had but it has some good strengths. First, the service is excellent. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, the wait staff was extremely attentive. They checked on us constantly, making sure we didn't need anything. Second, the value is good. They have a full buffet that seems like it has most of items on the menu. They also bring you a basket of fresh garlic naan when you order. Honestly it is a good selection of decent Indian food and is a pretty good value. Been coming here about 6 years now and they are still my favorite Indian Food Buffet. I am always so impressed by how attentive and friendly the staff are. My water never goes below half way before they refill it. And different staff members will come by throughout the meal to make sure everything is good. The buffet itself is the best I've ever had. They always have at least one lamb option and it is so great!! And they offer many delicious vegetarian options as well. And of course several chicken options. I've never found an Indian restaurant that serves a dinner buffet. I've only seen and experienced the lunch buffet. I was craving Indian food, Chicken Tikka Masala in particular. I had intentions on placing an order to go but once I read a few reviews and realized they offered a dinner buffet I changed my mind. I believe the dinner buffet starts at 5. We got there around 5:30 and there was just 1 other person in there. Within the hour we stayed the restaurant got pretty packed quickly. We tried some of everything ... Chicken Tikka Masala, Curry Chicken, Tandoori Chicken, Curry vegetables, Lamb, Spinach, Mango Juice, Hot Chai Tea, freshly grilled pita. Everything was scrumptious. This was my boyfriend's first time trying an Indian Buffet and he said it wouldn't be his last. Mine either. The total bill for 2 came out to be about $28 bucks and some change. For the $12 dinner buffet, you have access to all the main Indian staples such as lamb vindaloo, chicken curry, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, samosas, basmati rice, vegetarian options, and much more! There is also mango lassi, chai tea, mango and rice pudding. The staff are super friendly and they constantly fill your water cups and ensure that you have enough garlic naan. The dishes are fresh and constantly replenished because this place is so popular. But keep in mind that it's frowned upon to be wasteful so practice being in the clean plate club! (There's an extra fee if you leave a lot of uneaten food). It has been in establishment since the 1980s and can accommodate large groups. Honestly, I really dig this place. For the past few years I've been going out less and ordering delivery a lot more, because the world is a terrifying place and I've pretty much decided that I either absolutely hate or am terrified by every human being on this planet. The world is a wretched place and I want to just hole up inside my lair and eat tasty food. Every meal which I've ordered from India Oven has been spectacular, even though I *ALWAYS* forget that you have to order basmati rice separately (for some reason I had it in my head that it was usually included with meals, but I guess I'm trippin'). I'll break down my latest order: The mango lassi... never arrived. I contacted Grubhub and they contacted the restaurant and they offered to make me a new one if I could come pick it up, but that would entail leaving the house, and I think we've already established how I feel about that. So I can't review that item, but I'm sure they're probably great. Kind of hard to fuck up lassi. The chili paneer was actually a standout item for me. I ordered it more on a whim than anything else, but it was FANTASTIC! The texture of the paneer was perfect- firm and springy and really tasty with the chilis. Not particularly spicy, but still quite delicious. Aloo parantha was really nice, very tasty even when eaten on it's own. The madrasi lamb was good, but not exceptional. It was tasty, but we asked for it to be prepared extra extra spicy, and it really wasn't. I get it- they're afraid of the people who *think* that they want spicy food until they actually get ahold of some decently spicy food and then they take to the Internet to complain about how spicy the food is. When we actually go to a restaurant it's not a problem because they can obviously see that we're Mexican and when we say that we want it spicy, we know what we're talkin' bout. But that didn't happen this time, so the dish was really not spicy at all. So I had to shave a little bit of rating for that, but it's all good and I still gots love for y'all. The madrasi chicken was actually another standout dish. They use really nice pieces of meat (I want to say thigh meat?) that are just wonderful. The sauce was great (not spicy, but spicy enough for your average dish). The goat curry was really quite surprising. Usually goat is *TOUGH*, and the bone-meat ratio just makes it not worth it. NOT HERE, NU UH!!! It's definitely something that I'd order again, but if you're afraid of tiny bones then you might want to steer clear. Then again, if you're afraid of tiny bones, then why are you reading my reviews, and why are you *THIS DEEP* into one of my reviews? Take yo ass back to Chipotle. The vegetable korma was another one that made me do a double-take. It's also my latest inspiration for wanting to learn how to cook Indian food at home. These folks can put it DOWN with some vegetable dishes, and in the interest of getting a wee bit healthier I plan to start doing some cooking of my own. This dish is my inspiration. I'll have to order it several more times to try and get it just right. So yeah, all in all, I really love this place and I just need to remember to order the Basmati rice plate (found under rice dishes) in order to get a nice big serving of their rice (which is tasty, from when I've ordered it before). read more

At 6 different vegetarian options. Salad and a couple side items. Tea and a mango fruit drink are included. Three desserts today. The soaked donut balls, mango pudding and carrot pudding. I'm impressed. I'm glad I came upon this restaurant. It's about $10 without a drink. Very reasonable. Good for families of your kids like curry. Good choice in proteins. Yes. The service is the fastest you will find anywhere, drinks are always full and there is always naan on the table. Once again Yelp gets it right! This was my first time to an Indian restaurant and Indian cuisine so I did my research via Yelp. I found India Oven to have 4.5 star review with over 600 reviews. After all 600 Yelpers can't be wrong. Many of the reviews were from people with Indian sounding names so I decided to give this place a try. It is not lavishly decorated, but it does lend to a middle eastern ambience. I came for the lunch buffet on a Saturday which was suggested on one of the reviews. There were several kinds of lamb and chicken dishes and a number of vegetarian ones also. I did try them all. The lamb vindaloo was good, not as spicy as the lamb masala. Both dishes had large pieces (about an inch cubed) of lamb cooked in a spicy tomato gravy and diced potatoes. The lamb masala was my favorite item on the buffet. The basmati rice was the perfect compliment to the lamb masala. The chicken dishes were also cooked in a spicy gravy. he chicken curry was mildly spicy and the chicken vindaloo was medium heat. My favorite was the chicken Tandoori. Pieces of chicken baked with a mild spicy coating. A few other dishes I really liked were kadni pakora. a kind of dumpling in a curry gravy, and the chana masala, chick peas and ginger on a spicy sauce. The deserts were nothing to write home about, but the mango lassi was to die for. A smooth creamy mango punch that you can refill as often as you like. And yes, as the yelpers said, unlimited naan.
