Royal Auto Body

I depend on yelp reviews to select businesses of all types. I rarely leave reviews though! But this…read moreis the place to go. Wally is the best! Hard for me to trust and a worrier but I felt immediately confident and in good hands. Do not hesitate to use this business! Results were perfect.

I had accidentally tapped a pillar with my car door and it wouldn't close quite right although had…read moreno obvious damage to any component. I saw the great reviews here, so brought it in to see what could be done because it seemed obvious that something was just misaligned. Tech came out to inspect my car and was telling me I definitely needed new hinges! I might need a new door! This is going to run a lot of money! That they weren't going to try to investigate a misalignment because they wanted to do things "the right way!" Sure buddy. I thanked him, left and went to the body shop just down the street. Where a tech took a look at the door, determined that the A-pillar on the car door hinge had just gotten bumped out of place, bumped it back into place which fixed the problem, and within 15 seconds sent me on my way. Didn't even charge me because it was such a minor "repair" if you can even call it that. Royal might be good at what they do, I don't know. But they tried to upsell me on a repair that was thousands of dollars for something that wasn't even broken and was a component easily pushed right back into place. So definitely get a second opinion if you go here.

I'll start by saying this is the body shop for a more discerning customer who actually understands…read morethat complexities of matching paint and wants things done properly, not quick and cheap. D&V has been the go to shop for my fleet of work trucks as well as my multiple project vehicles over the years and I have nothing but good things to say about their attention to detail and integrity. The most recent project they completed for me was a complete repaint of my 1991 Nissan Skyline in which they replaced the left rear quarter panel, both rocker panels and addressed various other locations in which rust had started to spread. It took right around a year which was to be expected for a project of this scope and my car looks incredible. Every panel was properly stripped, prepped and painted. The finish is consistent across the entire body, even the engine bay and trunk. The entire time my car was there the whole team was very communicative and kept me in the loop anytime they encountered something that required my opinion or additional parts/labor. There isn't another shop in the DMV that I'd trust my projects to.

As a returning customer, I can say the work and service have massively deteriorated. Only thing…read morethat went up is the price. Charged me over 1100 to paint two small trim pieces and paste onto the doors. Wanted 550 upfront. Sent me the bill on Friday, and by Monday morning gave me the "payment overdue" notice. I should've stopped there. But went for it due to past experiences. The car came out worse than it went in. Paint had tiny dents along the edges, most likely due to poor prep. They can't seem to find the door's edge for a simple alignment. One side gap was so large I can put my hand into it. Even worse? Someone decided to spray tire shine as part of the clean up, but didn't bother to properly apply to the tires. They just sprayed a few spots on the tires and let it drip. So the oil and grease in the tire shine flowed unto all four wheels. My wheels are anodized, so the grease permanently tarnished the wheels, leaving them with unsightly streaks that can't be washed off. And believe me, I tried. Bottom line: overpriced mediocre work and overall lack of care that caused more problems than solutions. Hopefully you'll have more luck, but I'm done with them. Very disappointed that it has to come to this, but this is not the shop I used to know.
