Great spot for Italian fare! Love that I can walk to this place on the Beltline. Cool vibes for the decor and an awesome patio. There were four of us and we arrived early. The staff was great and gave us options for our wait, showing us to their outdoor (heated) patio. They even offered to get us drinks out there.
Once we got a table, the impeccable service continued. Taylor was our server and she was very patient with us as we were very indecisive. We started with some apps - polpette (meatballs) and the burrata/arugula/proscuitto "salad." The meatballs were amazing - flavorful and tender, with a sauce that was worthy of additional bread. The burrata was actually easy to share, as well as a a good balance for the hearty meatballs. They accidentally brought us the focaccia w/honey butter. This might seem "plain," but the warm bread with the honey butter was outstanding!! And we used the extra bread to sop up that yummy tomato sauce. Only complaint here was they don't have any "bread" service as they actually charge you for the focaccia. (Note, they didn't charge us since they brought it to us by accident.)
For dinner, we shared the mushroom pizza, the cab strip steak and the radiatori (spicy ragu) pasta. All of it was tasty. The ragu pasta was really rich and just a little spicy, but very good. It's served over wide tagliatelle noodles. It was a good portion, but probably not enough for two to share as a meal. The mushroom pizza was enough for two to share as a light, but complete dinner. It, too, was yummy, with a mix of different mushrooms and lots of cheese. The crust was crispy and sort of thin to medium thickness. The cab steak was the only disappointment. While it was tasty, we ordered it medium rare and it came out medium at best. I saw it passing through the restaurant and ordered it based on what it "looked" like. But unbeknownst to me, it's served over the roasted potatoes, which makes it look like a much larger portion. Alas, for the $90 price point, this was a real disappointment. We did let Taylor (our server) know. She offered to redo it, which wasn't necessary as it was decent enough for us to eat. So she ended up comping us a dessert - the tiramisu. While that wasn't necessary, we certainly enjoyed it and it, too was tasty. Rich, with lots of layers, it was a good end to our meal.
Overall, this was a great experience. Every restaurant has its issues, especially when newly opened. So I won't hold the overcooked steak against them. And they did comp us the dessert, which they didn't have to do. I highly recommend trying this spot out. And I can't wait until spring to try out that awesome patio, even thought the heaters did a great job of making it comfortable on a chilly night. GO!! read more
