Back at Ikea restaurant for lunch and this time on the menu they added fish balls. In the past, they had salmon balls which I've tried and it was ok. the fish balls were made of haddock and they were golden. It comes with a dill sauce and lingonberry sauce as well as mash potatoes and a bean variety. $9.99 for 16 which is a great deal. I went with the 12 for $8.49 and supplemented it with 4 Swedish meatballs. They were so good! As an Ikea Family member, coffee is free. We also tried the cinnamon scone and that was fine. After spending all morning playing games at the next door Round1, this restaurant was a good spot to get a relatively inexpensive and filling meal. Luckily when we visited, they had a promotion for buy one get one 50% off for adult entrees. I also had some reward points saved up which I redeemed for $5 off and a froyo cone. Lunchtime was quite busy but the line moves relatively quickly. They have cute little carts for food trays so there's no awkward game of balance as you try to spot a free table. You can grab your own metal utensils (forks, knives, spoons) and peruse the cold offerings like dessert, sandwiches and salads before getting to the hot food area. We got an order of classic Swedish meatballs and feeling adventurous also added on an order of their plant-based meatballs (which did not hold a candle against the classic Swedish meatball). IKEA members get a free hot coffee or drink so be sure to grab a white cup for this. Teabags were by the register and hot water was by the hot coffee dispensers. Glass cups are for the soft drinks. 8 meatballs is a good portion for one person (since the dish comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, lingonberry jam and peas). We shared 12 Swedish and 8 plant balls and left absolutely stuffed after clearing both plates. Also sampled a bit of all the soft drinks they had available and I liked sparkling pear and sparkling lemon (reminds me of Sprite...but healthy?) the best. I made a trip to IKEA to pick up some housewares for the kids and decided to drop into the restaurant for some nostalgia. I haven't been in the IKEA restaurant for years. Ambience - still feels like a cafeteria. Food - no more of the shrimp and egg sandwiches but at least the meatballs are still here . Unfortunately, they were warm and not hot. The portion sizes are also smaller now ... 8 meatballs instead of 15 like back in the day. Breakfast at IKEA is one of the simple pleasures in life. It's simple and cheap, and good enough for what it is. It's only served for a couple of hours in the morning, so getting there in time is a fun race. You're surrounded by a regular crowd of older folks who come every week or everyday. I go for the Bacon & Eggs plate, that comes with some potatoes too that are pretty dang good. It's real basic and cafeteria quality, but a pretty big portion size that you really can't complain for $4. Back in the pre-covid days it was $1.50 which was a ridiculous stea. And if you sign up for the free IKEA Family thing, you get free coffee or tea. The staff is friendly, the seating area is all recently renovated and bright & sunny, and its usually nice and quiet on weekday mornings. I am not afraid to say that I come to Ikea to eat!!! Came in on $3.99 Tuesday where all the entrees are priced at $3.99 per plate. I got the lemon crusted cod, salmon fillet and a caramel almond crunch cake slice for 11 bucks. The salmon got coated with a sweet and sour sauce, it was great. The plate also had steamed beans with cauliflower rice and. The cod plate came with steamed peas and I substituted the mashed potatoes with the cauliflower rice. The plates looked quite healthy. Both fish fillets tasted great. I finished my meal with the delicious cake. I do have to say that Ikea food is way better and healthier than any fast food joint. read more

I know people go to IKEA for their furniture.. but I go to IKEA for their Swedish meatballs... if you go upstairs by the children's section there is a really big food hall. Before I talk about the food some unique features to point out about the dining area itself is that the tables and chairs and light fixtures are in sections and are definitely things that you can purchase in the store which I find to be really creative. There is also a little play area for kids to keep them occupied once they are finishing eating. To get food, you wait in line and grab some trays. They even have carts for you place at least three trays to easily push back to your seat. The menu is displayed clearly on screens and then you can either grab a salad or order a hot meal which they slap on a plate for you. Then you bring your food over to the cashier to check out. Although the process was very organized, I didn't give five stars because the line went super slow. I just really wanted to eat my meatballs! Hahaha read more

There isn't enough ketchup, salt, and pepper to make them edible. The fried potatoes are some of the worse I've ever had. Soggy fried potatoes are a complete waste of effort. The pork chop breakfast was incredibly dry and salty. The afternoon options which include Swedish meatballs are way better. These one bite morsels drenched in gravy were super tender and flavorful. I went into the IKEA restaurant in Hicksville yesterday with my son & grandson. We ordered 3 plates of vegan plant balls. First we got the largest sized plate, and then went back for the regular size, and then went back again and got the smallest size. Each time I got more and more confused. I wanted vegan balls, otherwise known as plant balls. The first time, I got something totally different from the other 2 times. We were all worried that we got meat by mistake. What's more, 2 of the times we got mashed potatoes that seemed to have butter in them. Why would you serve something with butter on that plate? Butter is from animals. Maybe those were vegeteraian plates. Vegeterian is not all plant. Vegan=Plant. Vegeteraian=Plants and Dairy. Ikea needs to know the correct terminology in the U.S. The 2 bins of food balls should be clearly labeled so that customers feel confident in what they are eating. They have hot foods, salads, wraps, etc... which are all pretty decent but nothing to really get excited about. I got the swedish meatball meal ($6), which comes with meatballs, steamed veggies, and mashed potatoes. They give you some gravy and cranberry-ish sauce as well. The meatballs and mashed potatoes are fairly tasty and the steamed veggies were pretty nuked so you can't taste them much. The portion size is definitely disappointing though; it's not much and they should definitely give you a lot more for your $6. I'd probably give two stars if I just rated my dinner alone, but there are a few other noteworthy things about the IKEA restaurant. First off, you can get a somewhat nutritious meal here for pretty cheap compared to fast food places in the same price range, so that is a plus. Also, IKEA restaurant offers extremely cheap breakfast platters from like $1-3. They come with items like eggs, potatoes, sausage, and french toast depending on which one you get. As for the "pancakes", more like crepes, were too floury in the inside. I didn't like it. I saw toast last time so if I do come back, I'd probably substitute the toast in place of the pancake. Ikea has always been one of those feel good places that I've gone to as a little girl. I remember they used to have this huge ball pit that my parents would drop me off in while they shopped. I loved it there! But then one year, they told me I was too big to play in the ball pit anymore. I will gravitate toward this location over the other nearby IKEAS (Brooklyn, NJ, etc.) because the crowds are usually fairly stable here instead of the maddening weekend zoo. It gets busier when there is a deal involved, the most recent one was the $9.99 all you can eat (AYCE) crawfish and they still have free breakfast from 8:30-9:30AM. Free is practically my favorite word, but the real question is - are the eggs, hashbrowns, and sausage any good? Shockingly not bad. (#1) Another thing I appreciate is this place is always well stocked.
