I've had takeout and delivery from Pecosa so I knew I was in for a good meal when I stopped in for lunch. I ordered the carne asada lunch special with rice & beans. I waited a few minutes and was then served a large platter with steaming hot steak, white rice, red beans, and sweet plantains. The meat was well marinated. Every bite of my dish was flavorful and delicious. I decided to try the complimentary green "hot sauce" it enhanced the flavors even further. I discovered Pecosa on an app. I am so glad I tried it! This place is delicious and right under my nose. Their food is flavorful and fresh. I had the chicken leg, rice and beans. I have never had chicken so tender, It was truly fall off the bone. The sauce was so delicious, I scooped up every bit with the cheese bread I bought, which was also incredible. The rice and beans were full of flavor. I topped it off with their Tres Leche cake. This was a home run! I recommend everyone try it! read more

Sometimes you're just in the mood for a delicious Latin meal without the frills and fuss. That is exactly what you get at Pecosa! I stopped in one day while driving through the neighborhood starving, and I ordered the Pechugq Apanada which is a breaded Chicken cutlet with red beans and rice. It was AMAZING!! It's very crisp yet still moist inside. The rice and beans are delicious and I added plantains because it's so hard not to but definitely had a good amount left over. This is a meal you definitely need to be hungry for! The staff are very nice and friendly. It definitely helps if you can speak Spanish to order exactly what you want. I needed a tres leche cake last minute & Pecosa bakery was able to do it! Tres leche cake is hard to find (AUTHENTIC tres leche cake at that). They accommodated me and got me a cake done for 20 people! It was for a coworkers birthday and EVERYONE raved at how awesome it was. I haven't tried their food yet but I can't wait to try. I adore this place I could cry!!! The bakery/restaurant is tiny but it is filled with so much love. The staff is incredibly sweet and amazing. They are always so welcoming the minute I enter the bakery. My favorite thing to order is the chicken empanada which is so delicious, well seasoned with its soft, flaky, buttery crust( be sure to get the picante with it!). I mostly order from the bakery glass window which contains breads, cakes etc. but I have also ordered their meals such as the chicken soup and arepas which are also very tasty. Pricing I believe is very reasonable for the great quality food along with the bakery cakes. I have ordered in the past the cakes which are also very large and are always a hit! This was my go to spot, it's affordable and the food was "good" the service is always on point but a few days ago unfortunately my mother and I found worms in the repollo when I ordered pupusas, if you know your food you know they don't have worm looking things .. They look like they were cooked within the vinegar that's in the salad. We showed the young lady who took our order and she tried to crumble up the napkin where we had laid them on. They didn't deny it was. Never go here , for your safety and health. It's unfortunate for my family and I to go through this, it's hard finding a good restaurant nowadays been going here for 2 years. Been passing this place for years and people tell me it's not just a bakery, but a sit-down restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Well, boy was I surprised at how delicioso EVERY SINGLE ITEM on the plate was. I ordered the pork tenderloin with rice & beans that came with a hint of fried sweet plantain. The gal at the register couldn't have been more terrific at explaining each item with descriptions of whether they were kind of dry and needed a sauce and suggested sauteed onions on top since it was more juicy than the fried pork chop. The best part: the green mojo of garlic, parsley & oil. Excellent! I also ordered a sweet rather than salty corn cake, which looked good, but was so-so. I had such a pleasant time eating because this was all so unexpected - the quality, quantity, and fair price until some other girl comes practically under my ARMPIT WHILE I'm still eating to CHECK ON ME LIKE A LYING LITTLE KID since I asked for more mojo for what the portion I was taking home since I didn't finish it. She gave me LESS THAN A SPEC in a cup that didn't even hold a pinky's worth and assumed I should pay an EXTRA 50 cents! HOW RIDICULOUS and unprofessional to treat a customer like this as if I were a CRIMINAL, especially since I added the remaining mojo from what they gave me at the table to go WITH MY MEAL INITIALLY. COULD SHE SPARE IT? And no, she wasn't the owner, just a clerk. She ruined my whole wonderful experience. I just couldn't believe she came UNDER MY ARMPIT to INVESTIGATE IF I TOOK any extra so she could charge me an extra 50 cents--how LOW CLASS! Was visiting East Meadow and decided to try this place for some Colombian food. Went in on a late Sunday afternoon to find that they had sold out of all the good stuff but still managed to walk away with some goods. The typical Colombian plate was good overall but the steak was a little chewy and flavorless. The guava pastry with arequipe was so yummy and flaky. Stopped in to this small latino bakery to sample the goods when the wife had a sweet tooth. Took home four items. Here's the breakdown from best to worst. 1) a slice of tres leches - I had a feeling this would be the best. This classic latino dessert was moist and delicious. They offer a number of variations. We took the coconut topped one. 2) a slice of chocolate cake - I liked it, but my wife insisted it tasted "like a box mix, devil's food cake" wasn't very moist and we both agreed the frosting was not good. 3) a cheese filled danish - had virtually no cheese filling. Not very good. 4) guava & caramel square - this strange dessert was in the front counter and a suggestion of the girl working at the bakery. Looked weird, tasted weirder. Not very good. Imagine someone took Graham crackers and spread guava paste on one layer and then another layer with caramel. It was just weird and ended up in the trash. Might be willing to give them a second chance, but this place is not as spectacular as some have written. read more

I had the ham, egg and cheese sandwich. the eggs were kind of scrambled as opposed to fried - the cubes of ham and the cheese were mixed into the eggs - it was VERY good. I asked what kind of bread it was on (asked after I ate it) - the woman said it was "regular" bread - but it wasn't; it looked like a roll, but it was more like a croissant. again - it was a VERY good egg sandwich; not like an egg sandwich from a deli that I'm used to. . . (those are great too. . .) so many other things on the menu I want to try (breakfast and dinner / lunch stuff). I bought one of the "famous" Columbian breads (its made with cheese) - it was also VERY good. I WILL be back. . . I may also try the bakery stuff (it all looked good) - but that's not really my thing. Second review: August 2014 This time I went for dinner. Food was great, prices even better. Love Colombian food and they have good flavor but don't order grilled chicken unless you want undercooked extra chewy chicken. Even when I ask for it to be VERY WELL DONE as if I'm ordering steak, it comes undercooked. It's either a hit or miss when getting chicken here. This is coming from a hardcore Colombian. I genuinely love coming here! Their food is absolutely delicious and always made with love every time I come here, which is usually in the evenings. I've only had one bad experience which was when I came one time in the morning and dealt with other women than the usual blonde haired lady. They seemed rude, and messed up my order. I traveled 20 miles to go surprise my BF with breakfast but we didn't even eat it all. After that, I only stick to evenings going there. Wow! This is a special hidden gem in long island! Literally hidden behind a car wash and a home depot, this little spot is an authentic Columbian delicacy! Theyve got fresh Columbian coffee - strong and bold, the way i like it! - great Guava and cheese danishes, and egg cheese sandwiches on Columbian rolls. Really unique bakery goods here and they have warm Columbian food, cooked daily. Haven't gotten a chance to try the dishes yet, a lot of meat stuff (i'm a veg). The people are very friendly and relaxed, feels like I'm in a different country when I walk in! The decor is all native Columbian ornaments and small little tables, very homestyle. Guilty pleasure: Chicharrones and a fried bread shaped like a hand-ball. It's a quick meal at an amazing low price. I've also tried the flan and some of their lunch specials. Everything is fresh and delicious. It's a really small place, but I've never seen it too crowded. It might not compare to bakeries in Queens, but Pecosa is also one of the few hispanic places you'll find in East Meadow that isn't a wanna-be mexican joint. Delicioso! read more

Had horrible experience. If you want to order and have delivery done you have to go through uber. The menu online states one thing and then you receive a different order than what you actually placed online. When I called the place to let them know they messed the order up the owner did not take responsibility and basically said I was at fault for placing the wrong order which was not the case. I love this place - I come and stock up on the Almojabanas (Cheese bread) every time I'm in Long Island. The hot food is great also. You can sit down or order it as take out. We went there for dinner and got the steak and onions, the pork loin and two pandebonos. First of all, the smell of this place when you walk in will almost knock your socks off. It's kind of like that cartoon smoke finger that pulls you along. The food itself was just as good. The steak was tender and flavorful and even though the pork loin was a touch overcooked (since they basically pound a center cut pork chop flat), it still tasted great . The rice and beans were cooked slightly different than I'm used to (we usually go to El Sabor Dominicano in Freeport), but I assume it's a difference between Colombian and Dominican cuisines and it is equally as tasty. They also don't offer the saffron rice, but they rice they did have was pretty good, also if a tad overcooked. I've never had a pandebono before, but I will tell you, they're awesome but they NEED to be eaten hot. They're okay cool, but incredible hot. read more

I came in with my guide dog and the first thing they told me was no dogs allowed. I explained it was a guide dog and seated myself. The server felt the need to call the owner and put the owner on the phone telling me that the dog was scaring away her customers. This made me very upset and I decided to leave. We sat our selves and then ten minutes passed when one of the workers informed us they closed at 2 PM and that the kitchen is closed and they could not serve us.
