Took the family here for a weekday dinner . It's been a long time since I had Colombian food so we were excited to try Sabor. The place is very spacious and has convenient parking. We were seated quickly and given menus right away . We ordered a mango smoothie and the BANDEJA SABOR A COLOMBIA and the mixed grill "PARRILLADA SABOR A COLOMBIA". Food took a while to come so I suggest ordering apples next time . The typical platter was pretty good. Meat was moist and savory. However, the mixed grill was a huge disappointment as all the meats on there were fairly dry. I initially thought it was only $44 but it's actually $49 to my surprise . Definitely would not get this ever again as we could have gotten two other entrees instead . The ambiance is modern, with homage to Colombia culture such as the Chiba bus. Since we made it in time for happy hour, we had sangrias-both white and red, and also margaritas. To me, the white sangria was the best of the three, it not too sweet perfect blend of alcohol and fruits. We had an array of appetizers, including calamari, Tostirron, shrimp ceviche, and a mixed platter with different appetizers. The best appetizer was the tostirron, which is guacamole topped with fried pork and eaten with tostones. For dinner, I had the fried snapper (Pargo Rojo Frito) and while it was good, I would've liked a little more spice. I had to add a lot of the sauces they provided on the side, to kick it up a notch. In the past, I always ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce. My cousin ordered it and really liked it. The best part of our night was the karaoke. I've passed the restaurant several times, today I decided to try it. There's ample parking in the front/back. We waited a few minutes to be seated, it's a nice size restaurant, bar on the right when you walk in, tables to the rear where you'll find a huge screen TV, DJ booth and stage for performances. The rice was a bit mushy and the beans came in a creamy bean paste with brown beans in a separate bowl. The steak that I thought would be thick and juicy was thin and flat. My meal also came with sweet plantains and pork loins (fried). I cannot say I am used to this way of eating. This is because as an American Columbian myself, my pallet is more geared toward Thai food from my spouse. The strawberry drink I ordered comes with milk in it so specify ahead with the waiter you don't want any milk (no leche) trust me, it will taste better. The layout of this restaurant is as long and roomy as a "tractor trailer truck" spacious. Plenty of seating both at the bar and on the floors. Large screen TVs line the bar. Large stage with a huge screen for Karaoke . Owner this evening was singing over the mic, actually she wasn't bad. I was a little disappointed with my bill, because the waiter botched my charges by adding a Pina colada to my bill instead of a Fesca Strawberry drink. I acknowledge mistakes do happen but not to 2 bills at the same time? This place was jumping on a Saturday night! Came to celebrate on a friends birthdays. This is a restaurant in a shopping strip so grab the first parking spot you see because it was scarce. They don't take reservations so it's first come first serve, so you can imagine arriving after 7 we were in for a bit of a wait. There was live music and lots of energy. The guacamole with chicharrón was fresh, and the arepas had that sweetness that works so well with savory chicken. I ordered the bandeja Colombiano and ate everything but 1/2 the chicharrón because I ran out of rice and beans. I sat down thinking I would be taking home leftovers but once I cut into the steak it was on. The flavors were on points the white rice was a stand out. Paired perfectly worth the beans, the sausage was well done, and avocado was fresh. The sweet plantain tasted like sugar. It was the kind of meal you are excited to talk about it was so good. Based on recommendations, I decided to try out this restaurant. The wait was 45 minutes to an hour of course on a Saturday night. We had a party of 10 so I am sure that contributed to the long wait time. We were seated in less than 40 minutes. There is a live singer performing and she makes her way through the restaurant and serenades the patrons table side, mainly singing happy birthday. If you don't like loud music, this may not be the place for you. The food was delicious and with a group as large as ours we were able to get different menu items to sample. They feature platters that come with a variety of meats so you also satisfy your culinary curiosities. i've ordered out from this restaurant twice so I strongly feel that my one star review is warranted here. Not only is the food not fresh but half of it is frozen food. The staff who work here are not the friendliest of people so when I picked up the food, they made me find my own bag, which is absolutely ridiculous. there's absolutely no reason that I should be kinder than the staff here, the service is where the experience comes from. The one item on the menu that I really liked was the yellow rice, which taste fantastic. If you order from Uber eats, they usually have a buy one get one free deal for the yellow rice which definitely drew us and so we ended up ordering twice. We've ordered several other dishes like a side of beef, which tasted like a dry sponge. Even the other guest, who eat out at this restaurant were extremely rude. In my head, I was like this must the official Colombian spot for good food. I place my order for #35 which was the 1/4 rotisserie chicken, white rice and french fries and four empanadas. Let me tell you that the food was great especially the white rice. I would eat a bowl of that all by myself, so delicious without any gravy. For me, the empanadas is the center of attention.
