I finally tried Dirty Taco, at lunchtime because I've never not seen a crowd trying to get in at dinnertime and I don't love the idea of waiting (to my knowledge, no reservations and no No Wait, sadly). I knew it had to be good and I was right. Cute interior, casual, pretty small so I am sure they have a high volume operation going on. It was a cold day, so no outside seating, obviously, but I'd love to come back and sit outside on a nice day. There's something about warm weather, tacos and cold margs that's super appealing, isn't there? I'd heard their vegan tacos were excellent and I was happy to see a wide selection of them. I tried the vegan chorizo as well as the Impossi-taco. Listen, there's no contest here. If looking for a meaty type of taco, go with the vegan chorizo (I believe it's housemade). I'm a spice-loving gal and it didn't seem spicy at all to me but I do realize there are people out there that might think it's spicy so that's a caveat. It's top tier, however, and the impossible was just something I can make at home (with a lot more spice-- it's lacking that here). I also ordered the black beans and rice, but I wouldn't order it again, as it was a small ramekin and I was too full to eat it anyway. Next time, guac, I'm coming for you. The sampling on my impossi-taco had me full of regret that I didn't get more of it! If you like sweet sangria, they've got you here. I didn't love it, way too sweet for me. I'll definitely try their other cocktails next time. Now, for the service. Gina is a rockstar! Its not that i didn't like it in the past i just can't take the crowds, the wait, standing outside like a street vendor, and sometimes soggy corn tortillas that bottom out like a paper bag with too much refrigerated drinks in it! This place was excellent! It's definitely Mexican fusion food and it works so well. We loved the colorful decor on the walls. I had both a strawberry kiwis margarita and the Midnight Blue Margarita, both were excellent. They had a decent selection of cocktails. My husband had the Mezcal Old Fashioned which he really liked. We started with a side of fries and the toppings on them were so delicious. For dinner my husband and I both did tacos. I got the Bacon Cheeseburger taco and the Vietnamese Shrimp taco. Both were excellent. My husband had a Korean short rib taco and the dirty taco. I would 100% come here all the time if I lived nearby. I also want to mention that the staff were so very friendly. Some good and some meh. Really enjoyed the street fries but didn't love the tacos. The flavor combos seemed really creative but I didn't love their execution. The Korean short rib was probably my least favorite and I couldn't bring myself to finish it (this may have just been personal preference bc I really didn't enjoy the taste of kimchi in the taco). The Jamaican jerk chicken was okay but would probably not order again. The Vietnamese shrimp one was the best of the 3 - it tasted like a summer roll but in taco form (but I would probably prefer an actual summer roll). My friend quite liked her bowl though. I came here on a Friday night. Got here at 6pm and the place was empty. Had a red sangria which was delightfully refreshing. By 6:30pm when my cousin got there, the place was packed. We got seated quickly. We ordered chips and guacamole to share. The portion seemed a bit small but the guacamole itself was good. Their nachos are slightly on the saltier side compared to other places. Then, I ordered a Korean short rib taco, Jamaican jerk taco, and bang bang shrimp taco. My cousin ordered the Korean short rib taco, birria taco, and the salmon taco. The Jamaican jerk taco was spicy, but the pineapple was a nice balance to the spiciness. The Korean short rib was amazing! Imagine pulled short ribs, seasoned well, with a spicy mayo wrapped in a soft tortilla. The bang bang shrimp had a nice crunch. The corn was great. The plantains had too much sauce for my taste. I would ask for it with sauce on the side next time. Overall, solid place to eat. Service was prompt and friendly. For my first birthday dinner of the holiday weekend, instead of going somewhere fancy, I chose Dirty Taco and Tequila in Wantagh. I'm not a taco person per se, but I was craving birria tacos and they serve them. The place is small, but the high top tables are perfectly suited for this space. We went around 4pm to avoid the crowds, but it was already filled except for 2 tables. We chose the one in the corner. The place has murals and awards all over the walls. A lot to look at. Nobody came to seat us for a few minutes. Then it seemed like am imposition for us to be served. Granted, it was filled to capacity, but they're used to that, so I expected more. I ordered my birria taco as hubby couldn't decide. By the time I finished my taco, he was ready to order. I got another birria taco and a "dirty" taco and a Peach margarita. Yum hubby got habanero ribs and a fried cod taco. His was sweet and the taco shell wasn't cooked, while mine were deep fried which I liked better. I asked for lime for my water and extra cilantro for both tacos. Never got either. I was underwhelmed as the size of the tacos and the prices didn't go together. Would I recommend it? Yes. oh man.. love Dirty Taco! Love the staff. but.. i felt soooooo bad for them today!! It was HOT!!! We ordered and then took our food to go! Heat wave and the AC wasn't working well. The Restaurant was 92*. The customers weren't happy , but they had Ice water drinks, Margaritas and Tacos! The staff were so nice and totally pleasant but the kitchen was hot! Shucks. Love the vibe of this place, great music and great atmosphere and I've actually been looking forward to coming here for over a year. Our server, Stephanie, was fantastic with suggestions and a very positive attitude. We had one cocktail, it was their seasonal and pretty well made. One of the big draws to this place is their focus on a pretty solid cocktail menu. That's what would bring you back. For apps we got guac and chips and it was pretty mediocre, especially being priced at "MP" which is apparently $12 this time of year. I wouldn't recommend it at all at that price or even half of that. The tacos are pretty good with a wide selection of what I call boujee tacos covering every type of flavor. None of them blew me away but at the same time I wasn't disappointed either. They were all "ok" Overall, I recommend the cocktails and coming for the atmosphere. Dirty Taco - Wantagh takes the L! Dirty Taco in Wantagh is consistently a disappointing experience, especially compared to the Patchogue location, which is always excellent. I waited nearly 8 minutes before being greeted, and was then told there would be a 20-minute wait -- even though there was an open table directly in front of me. When I mentioned to the manager that every time I visit this location it's chaotic, he asked why I felt that way. After I explained, his only response was that it was "the dinner rush." Meanwhile, two pickup orders that arrived after me were helped immediately, and multiple employees stopped to chat with another couple while I continued to wait in silence. All it would have taken was a simple acknowledgment like, "We'll be right with you." This is the second or third time we've given this location a chance, and every visit has been the same disappointing experience. We now drive 45 minutes to the Patchogue location just to get the level of service and dining experience we expect from Dirty Taco. Next time, it's straight to Patchoque! read more

Love the DT brand. Don't 100 percent love this location. The server on this perticular day (last tues.) refused to seat us bc we were missing a person from our party. The restaurant wasn't full and had plenty available spaces for other customers. We were fully prepared to begin ordering. Sometimes restaurants have this kind of policy. I've never had this issue at this location. Some people don't like to resort to niceties but in the restaurant business kindness goes a long way. It seemed as though she lacked people skills. Aside from her less than pleasant table side manner. It just seemed the food was prepared with not as much care as usual. I've been a fan of Dirty Tacos since they first opened, and when I say I love their food, I truly mean it. As someone originally from San Diego, I know good tacos, and Dirty Tacos has some of the best. Beyond the amazing food, the atmosphere and staff have always made this place feel like home I've built real connections with the team to the point where they know my husband and baby boy. I was actually going to leave a 3-star review for the service, but I love you guys too much to do that. The food is still amazing, and the staff is usually great, but I had a really unpleasant experience with a waitress named Lisa. She was extremely rude, unwelcoming, and aggressive in a way that's completely out of character for this restaurant. Lisa's service alone deserves a 1-star, and I hope this is a situation that gets addressed. Despite this, I still love Dirty Tacos and plan to return, but if this kind of behavior continues, I may have to reconsider coming to this location and take my business to another Dirty taco spot. I hope this was just a one-off situation, as the rest of the team has always been incredible. read more

Went to dirty taco last night for the first time 5/20/2025. I had the Jamaican taco and the dirty taco. Well first the atmosphere was beautiful and inviting. The food on the other hand, the primary reason why we came was awful. We started with the guacamole which was so bland that it taste like taco night at the nursing home. No tomatoes, no lime juice taste like it came right out of a can onto the plate. The tacos was no better, the Jamaican taco was so hot but still bland, the dirty taco tasted like I had bit into a taco shell with sand, it was bland, dry with no flavor. I am not sure how this place stays open but taco bell has better food. This was an epic fail wont be coming back! read more

I would have liked the red sauce I saw in the commercial and mentioned to her but that's quite alright. Next time. The food was so amazing! You have to try the nachos! She then disappeared for the entire length of my stay and camped out with close customer friends at a nearby table. She ignored my repeated requests for water and a knife.
