Affordable and consistent. They have a generous student discount so added points for that. Meatballs are tender but definitely high in sodium. Free coffee with a family card. I always get fries instead of the mash. Id probably skip on the mac and cheese. Definitely more for the childs palate. Gravy is the best part.
I wish we had an Ikea in Bakersfield. I'm gonna cross my fingers everyday and include IKEA in my prayers to open a location in Bakersfield haha. IKEA's restaurant is cheap and delicious and if you never tried it then you should. The meatballs are bomb with the lingonberries and mashed potatoes and even the peas are good! There's options for everyone here whether you're a vegan or a meat eater you will leave feeling satisfied. You have a choice to dine in or take your meal to go. I've done both and the food still tastes good the next day. The dining area is huge and there's tons of tables, so you won't have to worry about saving a table because there's enough space for everyone. The restaurant is self serve and it's similar to a school cafeteria where you grab your tray and pick your items then right before you walk out to the tables there's a cashier where you can pay for your meal. I have never visited during breakfast time, but I heard they have a good variety also and it's super affordable just like their lunch/dinner options.
2026/02/10: I came here today to check out their restaurant. Once you enter the building, use the escalator to go up one level, go forward, turn right to get to the restaurant. Grab a tray go thru the line, get your food, go to the cashier, pay, go to the dining area to enjoy your meal. Since it was my first time there, I only order the side orders portion to find out which food I like, They had 2 kinds of meatballs, the regular meatballs were lighter in color, the vegetarian meatballs were darker, the meatballs were good, The chicken tender was good with bbq sauce,!the fries were ok, nothing special, I need to add salt next time. The pasta with sauce was delicious. I need to order 2 portions next time. They have a lot of selection of desserts and food, too bad they don't have any beef products other than meatballs, The soda fountain was generic brand but they had diet cola which is my drink of choice, I may try their coffee next time. Everyone there was very friendly, nice and professional and very patient to answer my newbie questions, The dining area is wide, roomy and kept clean, I had a little difficulty finding my way out, all the path seems to lead deeper into the store, the way out was go down the stairs, then thru a grey door to get to to the lobby of the building to exit the building. Heh! I almost felt like the building was trying to prevent me from leaving, lol! I will learn next time.
Delicious food, friendly service, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. Great experience at IKEA Restaurant!
Yesterday (3/14/2026, Sunday), I had lunch at IKEA with My Mom & Dad and my brother. My Dad and brother had the meatballs, I had the falafel balls, and my mom had the veggie balls (plant balls). It had been a long time since I last ate at IKEA, and I enjoyed the meal. However, I tried one of the veggie balls and didn't like the taste. The falafel balls were pretty good, and the meatballs were also good. If you pay with a membership card here, the coffee is free, and the coffee was actually quite good. The cornbread here is also tasty, and the employees were friendly. But one thing: some of the trays used for carrying food were very dirty. Also, there were no spoons or forks in the places where they were supposed to be, so we had to walk around and look for them yesterday.
Went and grabbed some food here over the weekend. They have a great deal of marinara pasta with four balls (you can pick from any type they have) for only $1.99. Got two of those (one with plant balls and one with their new fish balls), as well as a cinnamon scone and fries. I get fries because they have many good dipping sauces, but honestly, the French fries are really not very good. I wish they had a better vestal for their dips. Other than that, service was fast and very nice.
If you've ever visited any IKEA in the world, but haven't had their Famous Swedish Meatballs... Have you really ever been to IKEA?? Yeah!! I'm calling YOU out. Not getting IKEA's meatballs is the equivalent of... Going to Costco and not getting their $1.50 hotdog. And/Or Going to a carnival and not getting a funnel cake. Yes! These are not optional suggestions like, "hmm maybe I'll get the meatballs." No!! These are mandatory rules, customs; the actually by-laws of the land of Sweden ;) Cause if there's anything that the Swedes have mastered other than selling you a box of furniture with 3000 parts named something I definitely cannot pronounce.... It's their Swedish Meatballs! Yeah! 12 meatballs in a delicious brown gravy. Accompanied by a scoop of mashed potatoes, approximately 365 peas (not really, but later I'll tell you what is 365), the most delicious lingonberry jam, and the cutest little Flag of Sweden ever!!! Yes, you are in for a treat! But don't you worry, the IKEA restaurant is not just limited to its balls of meat! Potato cheddar cod, various salads, chicken fingers & fries, cold wraps and of course small plates for the kids. But my favorite part of coming to IKEA besides walking around this massive store looking at all of the cool things all while having a belly full of meatballs.... The vanilla soft serve ice cream cone for dessert!!! And unlike McDonald's, their machine is always up! And remember earlier where I mentioned 365?? Well 365 is IKEA's return policy! Yes a whole year to return something, That's crazy!! So the next time you roll through IKEA... You know what needs to be done! But for now... It's time for me to get to work, I've got a cabinet to build. 3,000 parts? 150 steps?? Oh boy, I'm gonna need some more meatballs for energy. By the way, these instructions don't make any sense. Anyone understand Swedish? Ahh, I'll just wing it ;)
IKEA is the ultimate "reliable" choice when you're mid-shop or just want a cheap, decent meal. It's a cafeteria-style setup, so don't expect table service, but the efficiency is hard to beat. The Swedish meatballs are legitimately good. They're consistent, the lingonberry jam adds the pertect amount of tartness, and the gravy ties it all together. It's a classic for a reason and probably the best value-for-money meal you'll find in the area. It can get pretty chaotic on weekends with kids and crowds, but the seating area is usually clean and spacious.
I eat at the restaurant whenever I come to ikea. Is it tasty? No, but it is cheap. They have special deals from time to time and my most recent trip was $2 for their meatballs and pasta. It looked so sad but that $2 meal was enough to fill my stomach for a lunch. It tasted better than I expected too, with the meatballs and tomato sauce doing most of the heavy lifting in terms of taste. Overall, mediocre to below mediocre tasting food but for a ridiculously cheap price if youre hungry.
The Burbank IKEA restaurant is where hopes and dreams, and while it's good, go to die - but at least I could die with a plate of meatballs. After navigating a line system so confusing it felt like a theme park ride, designed by Kafka, I finally reached the promised land: the cash register. The Swedish meatballs arrived in their beige, glory, lounging in a gravy pool that could double as shiny wall paint, with mashed potatoes that whispered, "I was once powder in a bag." The lingonberry jam added its signature Scandinavian plot twist, while the salmon side dish politely reminded me that IKEA does, in fact, sell furniture - because it tasted ever so slightly bland. Speaking of furniture the cafeteria seating is what I imagine corporate IKEA furniture showroom would look like. It's said "yes, this is what people want while they eat their meat spheres in a bed of brown rose gravy." Chairs built for endurance, tables, built, lightweight, and flimsy - the aesthetic is very "mandatory training sessions with free lunches. And yet I can't stay mad. The whole thing kind of works. The chaos, the lines, the furniture that looks like a corporate break room. It's all part of the IKEA charm. I left full with energy to finish my full day lost around the showroom rooms.
Enjoyed our lunch at IKEA Restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. The eatery was busy and lots of people dining. Plenty of tables and chair available for seating. We met up with some friends to have lunch and shop with. I ordered the Meatballs with Mashed Potatoe, Macaroni and Cheese, 2 Garlic Bread, 2 fruit drinks and a latte. The servings of the Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes were plentiful as well as the servings for the Macaroni and Cheese. My child and I didn't finish our lunch. IKEA Restaurant kept the quality of their meatballs. The Garlic Bread was appropriately tasteful. The toasts were not burnt. The latte was just right. You can taste the espresso and temperature was just right. I like how everything is accessible to the diner including utensils, napkins and additional condiments. Pricing is also great along with the quality.
The IKEA Swedish Restaurant has a quick meal and variety. The Salmon was tender, Sloppy Joe was hearty with tater tota, and Cod had a crispy coating with mashed potatoes and peas. Rainbow Cake was colorful. It's a great place to take a break while shopping.
So after decades of not even looking at the restaurant because they never had vegan options... a few months ago the overhead lighted menu caught my eye. What??!! A plant Dog and a veggie Dog. I googled immediately, yes both are vegan. Woohoo. So I tried the veggie Dog. Serving team very nice and polite. Order number called before I even sat down.
It's been a long time that my wife and I have been to the Ikea restaurant the last time we were was the Ikea in Covina that was the last time I tasted their Swedish meatball they so good and also their desserts. We went the Ikea in Burkank to buy couple items for the house and look at furniture and many things to improve the house. I think this Ikea is huge walking around and also looking make everyone hungry. My wife and I went thev Ikea restaurant on the second floor in Ikea we notice there's a line into the restaurant we got in line waited the line went fast. It feel like you were in a cafeteria and choosing you meal it was very much right away we saw the Swedish meatball and vegetarian meatball we got them both and a salad and dessert and drinks. We pay and look around where to sit we found a table empty then we to eat my wife enjoy the Swedish meatball she they were good and I try vegetarian meatball they were very good I enjoy it very much. Cafeteria style spot to eat right inside IKEA. I love that their menu is seasonal and it being summer time they have salads and salmon dishes available! I had to stick with the OG meatball entree. A nice serving is Swedish meatballs with gravy, leashed potatoes, lingonberry jam, and peas. The peas are ok, the gravy and jam help for sure. I also got a slice of Swedish apple pie and it was exquisite! They also have a beverage fountain with sparkling pear juice which is a nice difference from the traditional fountains. The have a very very large seating area with lots of windows so the natural light in the morning and lunch time creates a nice ambiance. Overall the food is yummy and it provides a great place to take a break from the shopping read more

A good place to shop for reasonable household stuff and groceries. But I came for the restaurant to have dinner. I ordered Meatballs plate and it was very good. I also ordered several desserts and it did not disappoint. Service could use some improvement. Ambiance is ok. It was well-lighted with average noise. There are a lot of small children dining in. Over all, the restaurant could use some organization. read more
This IKEA is humongous! I couldn't find the time to look at everything, but made sure to stop and eat. Their meatballs and chicken with rice was good. I preferred the meatballs, it's a classic! But my husband enjoyed his chicken and rice. I love that they have a cart for you to place your food on a tray. They have a soda station, but selections are very limited. read more
COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available for customers to go shopping with limited capacity. They are also sanitizing in between customers. After I was grabbing some stuff from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive. They have so many parking lots and spots. Each parking spot is pretty massive, so you don't have to worry about people dinging your car. Food: I ordered 2 vanilla soft serve ice cream, 2 cinnamon buns, and 4 hot dogs. The vanilla soft service ice cream was wayyy to sweet for me, so I decided to remove a star. The cinnamon buns were also very sweet, small, and a bit hard. Their hot dogs were super tiny. They were nothing like the Costco hot dogs. You can probably fit 3 IKEA hot dogs into one of the Costco hot dogs. That's how small it is. The hot dog was still very good though. Staff: The staff here is very courteous, polite, fast, and efficient. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. read more

This is a pretty average restaurant. I got the plant balls which were good. The cauliflower rice was only tolerable with a lot of gravy. It's fun to have all the Swedish options in a pure cafeteria style restaurant. I'd probably want to give it a 3.5 but I liked the novelty. read more
I always enjoy going to IKEA's restaurant and cafe after a nice long stroll through an seemingly endless maze of showrooms. Longing after all the products and imagining what your room could look like in the future gets the yummy rumbling, so it's great to mosey your way over to the conveniently located cafe! The menu is simple, and the side dishes, desserts, and seasonal items are available for you to pick up as you make your way through the cafeteria style line. I almost always get the Swedish meatballs, with extra gravy! Every now and then I will indulge myself with a side of salmon or slice of cake! During checkout, if you happen to be a IKEA Family member (free), you can scan your card and get a free cup of joe or some nice hot Lipton tea! A nice perk for those who enjoy it! It's a great value, and the food is good! It's hard to complain about food that is easy on your wallet! read more

Oh damn, how did I forget this place, the only restaurant where I'll eat meatballs? I visited around 2:45p during the week and still encountered a line which moved rather quickly. Ordered Swedish meatballs with double potatoes+gravy (no green beans were available at this time, only broccoli) for $5.99, and then grabbed a glass for my lingonberry fountain drink ($1.25). I did notice the cashier asked if I was having water or soda and I wonder how many try to pull one to save $1.25... Found a table near the stairs and ate happy for about 25 minutes. If you're paying attention, it's very easy to bus your own tray; you don't even need to put everything in a separate area (can toss napkins, trash, etc. though), just put the tray on one of the shelves and you're done. Easiest damn thing you'll probably do all day. Service was fine with the cashiers as well, there were about four open at this time. I think they were getting ready for dinner since some of the items were low on stock or not available at all (garlic toast). Customers, I also have to say were super polite at least during my visit. Example: guy in front of me with his family had to pass back and forth more than once, saying 'excuse me' and 'thank you', etc. each time. Do I need to point out he was clearly foreign? Nice to know manners do still exist, or just Ikea food places make one better behaved... If you're not doing well financially, you CAN STILL AFFORD IKEA'S restaurant! My total was under $8 and I felt very satisfied afterwards. read more
I checked out the food at IKEA recently and found the eating area spacious and kid-friendly. The food is buffet-style with a simple menu at affordable prices. I tried the chicken tenders with fries, but they were cold and tough. I really wanted some macaroni but they ran out of it for the day.On my way out, I grabbed a $4 turkey balls meal with mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce which I enjoyed a lot. read more
Couldn't leave the largest Ikea in the US without dining in the cafeteria! Efficient lines, clean/clear set up, and plenty of seats. Had their Swedish meatball meal (came with choice of soup or salad - went with their vegan chili) and a side order of fries. Nothing outstanding but - Cheap, filling, and delicious. Wished we lived a bit closer to Burbank or we would certainly be back regularly! read more

I give IKEA Restaurant and Cafe 5 stars because it is soooooooo INEXPENSIVE!! Their (forgot the name of the breakfast...it's the one with a variety $2.99!!)... and the Swedish pancake was yummy and their Lingonberry sauce is delicious...I gave 5 stars because of price and food doesn't taste bad...if you sign up IKEA Family card you get free coffee!! First time visiting the huge Ikea restaurant in Burbank. This big blue building can be seen from the freeway and it's tempting to go inside just to check it out. Parking was plentiful. Upon entering from the lower levels there's an escalator that takes you right up to the Restaurant and cafe. We arrived at around 11AM. The lines looked really long, but they moved pretty fast. There is actually 2 food serving lines which a staff member will direct you to. The smells of delicious food and of course the Ikea meatballs await. Ikea members with their card can receive free hot coffee or tea. Just remember to grab a mug before checkout. During this visit we tried a few dishes, 2 Ikea meatball plates( meatballs, mashed potato, veggies, and a dollop of lingonberry sauce), a slice of berry cheesecake, and a bowl of chicken dumpling soup. Everything that we ordered tasted amazing and so satisfying. First time trying the berry cheesecake. It was very light, creamy, and tasted like eating a berry sherbet ice cream. The soup tasted so comforting as if it was homemade. All this delicious foods was less than $20 bucks. If you're ever in the area or just hungry for Ikea meatballs; stop by at the Ikea Restaurant and Cafe. read more
The four stars are for the chocolate conspiracy cake. What the heck that was the best piece of chocolate cake I've had in a very long time. It was richly chocolate flavored, moist but not dense and heavy like flourless chocolate cakes and the frosting was like a mix of ganache and buttercream, not too overwhelming but with the loveliest consistency. The sparkling pear juice was also a stunner: crispy light and fruity. All other foods were subpar to the cake. But we did like the Mac and cheese. Swedish meatballs kind of tasted like sausage with a weird soft texture. Not a huge fan. Also tried the pork tenderloin with the habanero sauce but it was a smidge sweet for my liking. Tons of light airy seating for your enjoyment while taking a break from interior shopping. Would recommend for a coffee and cake break for sure read more
I love Ikea but I have to admit that I mostly go for the food. This place is a cafeteria-like situation; and food it's so affordable, and tasty. If you have an IKEA family card you could get free drink (they have fountain drinks, coffee) my fave is their lingonberry one. They have a fancy coffee drinks machine which I love. Some of my favorites things here are their famous Swedish meat balls (comes with gravy, mashed potatoes & lingonberry sauce), salmon filet (comes with a veggie medallion and a lemon sauce), short rib (comes with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies). They have different sides options as well from fries, mac n' cheese, wild rice etc. You can choose which sides to accompany your dishes anyway. They have bread (garlic toast, dinner rolls, corn bread), soups (tomato, broccoli cheddar, chicken) salads (caesar, kale) and dessert (chocolate cake, strawberry shortcake, pies etc). You have to get the garlic toast with any meal, it's really good. I recently came for the salmon plate seriously thinking about the meatballs; but I wasn't eating meat for Lent. The lady serving us overheard me telling my dad I wish I could have the meat balls and told me they had plant based and veggie balls now. So, we ordered both. They were really good but my favorite were the plant based balls (it came with mashed potatoes, gravy, lingonberry sauce and green beans). Just like the real thing, really! I've been here for breakfast as well, and those Swedish pancakes were absolutely great. Aside the cafe they have a counter with pizza, hot dogs and frozen yogurt on the first floor by the exit. There's also a market section where you can buy some of their goodies to take home. This location is huge, so there's plenty of parking. Restrooms are always clean. Overall this place is nice. If you haven't been here you're missing out. read more

Breakfast Review When we pay less than $14.00 to feed a family of three for breakfast including my husband extras' ( dessert , meatballs) and we all leave full. I am always willing to drive the 15 mins to Burbank to be there by 9:30am, which most of the time you will find a line already waiting for the doors to open to the Restaurant not even Ikea. It's not only the price that keeps us coming for breakfast but the food is actually good, it's not the sorta of food you pay for kind of deal, and the coffee bar is wonderful. My only complaint is I wish they had non diary creamer. read more

My first time eating here, and I will definitely be back! My salmon was perfect, and my friend loved those meatballs. The employees were all friendly and polite, the place was clean, and I really couldn't have asked for a better experience. Prices are reasonable. Lots of parking. It would be worth it to come here just for a nice lunch. Thanks Ikea! read more

As humans we have this natural inclination to never be satisfied and to always want more. We always tend to want something bigger, faster, newer. We easily get bored and crave variety instead of appreciating what we already have. Gratitude is lost in a time of the internet, the smartphone, Instagram, Tinder, Snapchat. We crave instant satisfaction and when we get it, we are quickly bored with it and want another rush so we seek out something different, something new, something better, not knowing that it may never even exist. And in reality we lose out on some of the best people, places, jobs, and things because we don't realize they are the best. In a time when we are inundated with choices, we are never satiated; always wanting the next best choice, having regretful thoughts of what could have been missed and moving on from something good for something better; not realizing that something better will always evade us until our deaths. So when something good appears, we are perplexed, thinking if we should take it or look for something better. On a rainy evening while shopping at IKEA, I was given an opportunity to try the IKEA Cafe where I stumbled upon the veggie swedish meatballs plate which came with brown rice, quinoa and farrow with a Thai coconut curry sauce all for $3.99. Would I curtail my hunger for a "better" choice of food? Would I resist the spendthrift whisperer telling me to drop out of high end dining and pack my bags at this cafe for a little while? The answer to both of these questions is obviously no. The food, service, and prices are not worth passing up. The flavors don't require one to have "evolved" tastebuds, but can anyone complain about them for that pricetag? If you do, re-read the first paragraph I wrote up there in this review. Sit down. Be grateful. And spend a few moments to enjoy the veggie balls before you buy a loveseat you'll spend hours trying to build. read more

This was my first time eating at the restaurant part of IKEA. I'll usually shop the store floor by myself and mostly to pick up some quick accessories or snacks/foodstuffs, so it's probably because there's always a line every time I've passed by that I avoid this part (I've plenty of times stopped by the smaller snack kiosk since that line is more of a breeze to get through). This time was no exception--we started at the very end of the line corral, and throughout our whole visit (even during our meal), the line never dwindled to being less than the length of the line corral (it's odd because the cafeteria style dining makes this seem like type of place you'd want to go to occasionally for a work lunch break if you work near the area but the line might make it not so much; the length of the line at full capacity is probably in the vicinity of 30-50 persons). Overall, I enjoyed the experience here. The prices are beyond reasonable; between the three of us we ordered four sides of meatballs (16 total; they're $1 per side of 4), two small (kid sized) chicken tenders plate, one small (kid sized) meatball plate, two side salads and two sides of smoked salmon for just a little over $25 (was actually about $21 with a 15% off coupon). I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the food (I've had their meatballs and I like them, but they're not much different than the Swedish meatballs you can pick up from the regular grocery store; I just like to get them here whenever I can since I live further away). The chicken tenders were pretty good (they're chicken tenders: I mean, I don't think any place has "OMGWow" plain chicken tenders) and the side salmon/salad was the same level of good as well. The small (kid sized) plates were enough for each of us and came with just about enough fries and green beans (green beans tasted canned: it's mostly cafeteria food so I wasn't expecting to be blown away by this; the fries were pretty good as well, surprising not cold; the dining area has a microwave just in case food sits behind the window for too long but it wasn't necessary for us). Would I come back here? If I came with a smaller group and we were set ahead of time on having to eat here, I'd commit to it even if the line is long. It probably took us 15-20 minutes just to make it to the end of the line. The staff was ok. From personal experience, I can understand why they could start losing patience with certain customers, especially if they take too long to decide on their orders (that was a little bit of us), and even more so when the line starts to build up behind us. They should at least ask if you're finished with your order before moving on to the next customer so it doesn't possibly become an awkward altercation of an "I'm not done with my order!!" between the staff and the patrons or even between patrons (didn't happen this time). The eating area is huge. It was oddly never completely full; even though the length of the line was always at capacity, the tables never seemed to completely fill up (this was noon on Sunday), and the dining area was always clean and immaculate (the staff is constantly attentive to the preserving the presentation of the dining area). I didn't notice not one other dirty table as we left. read more

This is my new, favorite go-to spot for more than reasonable prices. Free parking, you walk into the new IKEA, up the escalators and there you are, adjacent to the cafeteria. Now, take note of the day of the week since the lines on weekends are what Disneyland dreams aren't made of: they're LONG and if you're hungry, you'll be hangry by the tine you get your food. The wait is much, much too long. Go on a weeknight, Fridays are even ok with decent lines. You grab your tray, maybe a cart to cart your trays and decide on a chilled drink: water, juice boxes, pear cider? Done. Hit the dessert panel next. Chocolate cake? Done. Pink marzipan cake? Done. Nordic mousse? Fantastic. Grab your sweet which is probably under $2 a slice and move on to chilled, healthy wraps, sandwiches and burgers under $5. Greek yogurt is $1.69 which is a skip for that price! Moving to the end, you make a slight right to the hot foods. You have your choice of Salmon Fillet, Chicken tenders, Swedish meatballs, Chicken Cordon Bleu, for all under $7. Sides include veggies and mashed potatoes. My favorite is definitely the Salmon Fillet, it's so delicious and love that dill sauce! The Swedish meatballs are surprisingly delish, I can't wait to go grab more! Walking through reviving your order, you gave the options of sides: Mac n cheese, bread, and small salad bowls to round out the meal. You can grab an empty glass or cup for the $1-2 coffee/tea or for fountain drinks. By the way, my favorite dessert is the Nordic mousse, complete with raspberry, lingonberry and mint. You pay at the cashier, and find your seat in the beautiful seating area by the windows overlooking the 5 or otherwise. There are communal style tables and a kids corner with mini tables. It's a lovely atmosphere great for families, individuals or anyone in between. Now I'm going to try and go through the menu and hit breakfast! read more
First time ever eating at an IKEA Cafe. I've always heard from others that I have to try out the Swedish Meatballs. Do that's what I did. Came with my girlfriend on a Sunday night and we each opted in for the Swedish Meatballs. We also each got some of their desserts. The meatballs were pretty good. It was moist and flavorful. It went nicely with the side of mash potatoes and green beans. The desserts were surprisingly good as well. They weren't too sweet, just the way I like it. read more
