Fun little shop to browse for kids gifts / toys as well as for adults with a little whimsy. Went here today (Sunday afternoon) to buy a gift for a one year old boy. We checked out the vast selection of wooden block toys and stuffed creatures. Our building block toy was mid thirties. The store has gifts for all ages including adults. We were tempted to get the Amber glassware. The cashier wrapped our toy for free. The brown paper and signature yellow ribbon was cute! The cashier struck up a conversation when we purchased the toy and then chatted about if we lived in the neighborhood and the merchandise. Felt nice to support a local small business. read more

The girl wearing glasses behind the counter 12/8/24 never greeted me the whole time I walked around the store. Never asked if I found everything okay or needed help. This place looks like a nice store form the outside but it is anything but. Cute toys adorn the windows but once inside it is a mess of indescribable knickknacks with the smallest kids section toward the back. The worse is the ambience and customer service. When we entered the shop assistant did not even greet us and turned off the music all together making it feel cold and uninviting. The entire time we browsed the shop assistant didn't say on word to us. No wonder there is a sign on the door looking for help, this person should be fired immediately. In summary this place is totally not worth your time and the signs all over the place saying "Women supporting women" seems performative, like they are trying to guilt you into making a purchase. Update: I just read a few other reviews and it seems like this is normal behavior for this miserable place. Reading the positive reviews and I am sure they are paid for or friends of the owners. Update: After reviewing the comment left by an associate on my review, she invalidated my experience and how i felt to victimize herself. It's surprising that instead of taking accountability for the poor and racist behavior experienced at their two locations, she tries to blame me for being discriminatory for explaining why the only reason i felt safe coming in was with my bf, who i knew wouldn't face discrimination. My experience wasn't just based on a one time visit, as stated. Secondly, if you scroll through their reviews, you'll uncover more reviews of others who have experienced the same treatment. Here we have this associate trying to justify and defend inconceivable behavior, arguing with a customer on my own personal experiences endured in their stores as if I made it up and like I'm the one in the wrong. My review was not casting judgement, it was describing the atmosphere of the behavior experienced by the employees. By telling the audience my own skin color, and describing the nature of the employees, it is drawing a visual of what they can expect coming here; that being that this store is prejudice, period. Not one, but two times have i experienced this behavior at store. To clear things up for you: As far as your comment regarding my statement about having the employees be stand offish and the young girl helping. She was pleasant and offered help way after the fact. i had come in contact with the other to way before she came to us and they didn't even offer help or say anything; they were super cold. That was the sunset location. The silverlake location, which is no longer there, is where the employees would watch your move and that's where the cash register attendant was not helpful at all. I'm not sure why you think it is acceptable to invalidate experiences people endured at your stores, implying it's their fault for feeling how they did. Unbelievable. read more

Not a very curated store anymore. On top of it, they leave the price tag with a barcode on gifts and don't accept any exchange with it if you don't have the receipt which rarely happen when you have been offered a gift!! Cute little store, filled with knick knacks that would make perfect gifts for one of your loved ones. I came here looking to get some candles for a friends birthday. They have a small but well curated collection of candles including Voluspa and they also had some other smaller boutique candle brands. In addition to cute handcrafted goods, there is also a nice selection of things for children, from toys to clothes. The whole shop feels nice and well maintained. I was helped by Sara, she was amazing, she asked if the items i was purchasing was a gift. I said yes, she offered to wrap it up. She even took off all the price tags, and she wrapped up my selections beautifully, what wonderful customer service. This place is ace! Just stopped by to buy a gift for my friend who had a baby last year, assuming it was a shop for baby toys and clothes, but it was much more than that! It's such a lovely gift shop for everyone at any age, and I was amazed by their selection of beautiful items everywhere... I slowly walked around the store twice to check out each and every little cute thing and it just made me so happy -- I hope I wasn't drooling! I picked a couple of things for a baby girl and they kindly offered gift wrapping. THIS PLACE IS SO DANG CUTE! And the people working here are soooo friendly. I came in looking for a birthday present for my girlfriends godson. He just turned one, and I had NO clue what a one year old likes in toys. They recommended toys that have to do with movement, as 1 year olds are just started to walk and move around. I picked out a drum and a wooden dinosaur with wheels, which they wrapped beautifully between conversations of places to eat around town. It was pretty affordable, the drum was around 30 and the dinosaur was 16. The only issue, which yolk has no control over, is that parking is pretty rough. read more

Cute hole in the wall in Silverlake! I didn't even notice this place driving bye to LaMill coffee. My girlfriend had noticed this place walking to the coffee shop. SO we had to check it out! They have the most random things in here! But I love it!. Picture Urban Outfitters toys and novelties section but as a whole store! LOOVE! They have their sale section area with great deals! $2 reusable luggage tags! sale on candles and lots of random things! I purchased disposable drinking cups with different noses as designs. No immediate purpose at this time, BUT! when you're drunk and buzzing with these cups, they will be hilarious! read more

I love Yolk, but I'm really sad to see this egg cut in half. The building was partially sold so Yolk had to move into one side of the building and give up all that great space on the left. It's now a much tinier shop with even tighter corners and a significantly decreased stock on display. There are still great items but I can't imagine I'll be back again soon, because the unique twist to the shop was the diversity of choices for baby, mama, home, gifts for family and friends. You can tell something's missing now and I wasn't able to find as many wonderful treats and goodies as I did in the past. I hope they'll work with the space better and clean off the dusty items or perhaps find a better space with more room. read more

CY the owner of the shop, never hesitates to strike up a conversation with everyone who walks in. If you need gift recommendations, she will offer to be your personal shopper and dig up all kinds of treasures from her store. They also offer gift wrapping, it's a perfect one-stop shop for the holidays. The prices here are very reasonable, especially if you compare the prices to the neighboring shops on Silver Lake Blvd. I also love that Yolk makes an effort to showcase and support smaller vendors and local craftsmen. I frequently find very unique and high-quality items for affordable prices here. I have gotten to know the owners over the years as a customer. They are a young family who run the business together, you will frequently see their son playing in the store. I really like this place. There are things you find at Yolk that you can't find elsewhere! Knick knacks and great gifts, plus a huge back room with children's toys, clothes and gifts. It's a great place to go to if you're shopping for a baby shower or a child's birthday party. I bring my young daughters in here and everyone is so friendly and let my girls play with the toys on display. There is also a large selection of children's books. I drove by Yolk the other night and saw a tagger tagging it. He did it on the front glass, which I thought was weird because it would be easy to scrape off. They have a nice selection of fun kitchen/home decor items, as well as a smattering of accessories, children's stuff, unique greeting cards, books, the works. It's a nice place to find interesting, attainable gifts for the girl on your list who has it all. I snagged a bunch of my favorite brand of candles, Voluspa and a few decorative items for my apartment. They sell this great line of olive wood kitchen products made by Bannouras which I love. The wood markings are to-die. It's pretty surprising how much product they are able to stuff into this little space, but by god, they did it.
