Came here on a spontaneous trip to take the kiddos outside the house. Completely forgot to take pics but spent a long time before getting to the restaurant. We were all hungry after spending all that time walking around. This place is surprisingly huge, quite a lot of seats available. It took a LONG TIME to line up and get our food, maybe around 30mins lining up and it wasn't the busiest time yet apparently. We got seats right away. We got meatballs, cod balls, poutine, fries, smoked salmon, garlic bread, and some drinks. The meatballs weren't as how I remember them, they're not as good, maybe I got older and tastebuds are different? Who knows. The fries were mediocre, poutine needed more cheese. Cod balls were so good though! They needed more tartar sauce though, the kale that came with it is gross. But would come for the cod balls here if I was really that hungry. Price was okay as well. Staff was very nice but man do they need more staff instead of two people manning the food and two at the cashier especially during the weekend dinner rush. read more

At IKEA their breakfast menu starts at $1.99 for pancakes and the Full Breakfast Plate: This includes eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, and pancakes, all for $5.99 and you get free coffee or tea if you scan your IKEA family membership card. My go to Ikea - though I guess there's not exactly an abundance of locations to select from around here. I love coming here and going straight up to the cafe to grab a bite before the adventure begins. Meatballs people!!! But don't sleep on those veggie muffin things. I love the pear soda they have too. So yum! The ikea can be a bit of a maze, but that's honestly half the fun. Besides, who doesn't come to explore and get their steps in? I love looking at the staged sections. I think it's a great way to imagine their products in your space. They have customer service stationed throughout so it's easy to get help. They also have those little ruler ribbons and pencils so you can make notes as you go and measure everything (even though measurements are all on the tags). Ikea has got it figured out when it comes to labelling all their stuff. Everything has a tag. You can see if you have to pick it up there, or grab it at the warehouse at the very end. And if you aren't looking to go through the entire maze, there are short cuts which you can read on the signs. I've been here enough I know how to take the shortest route from beginning to end. Mostly I like going to the kitchen section. I wouldn't say they have the best appliance / gadget selections, but they have a ton of great decor and houseware items. I love the glass containers and jars. Great neutral designs that I think are so popular these days. Minimalistic looks can definitely be achieved with what they got here. Pricing is great too! They normally have a ton of cashiers open plus the self check out - so it never takes too long to get out. Plus they have an extra mini cafe at the exit incase you wanna grab another bite. I came here on a whim because it's been a while since I ate at an Ikea restaurant. If you get the free Ikea membership then you also get free coffee (unlimited refills). The restaurant operates like a typical food court, go down the line, pick up your food and then walk to the cashier to pay. The food isn't anything spectacular and it is heavy food (lots of gravy). It is descent and priced well. All items wee pretty much less than $10. If you are even more tight on budget then head to the other food store located on the ground floor at the exit. They serve $1.50 hotdogs (veggie dog is available). I would come here again. read more

Ok, so you're in the GTA, and you want to go to IKEA. I believe there are two in the area, and I'm excluding westerly points along the "Golden Horseshoe." I saw the Etobicoke IKEA and didn't like it all that much. There really aren't good TTC options to get there. I had never been to the North York store before. For this one, the TTC options are excellent ... It's Line 1 and then, at Sheppard-Yonge, a connection to Line 4 to the Leslie station. I hoofed it over there with the wind whipping right through me and pushing my buttons, as can be expected with someone raised under or near palm trees. The store appearance is standard. I was surprised that the entrance lobby from which you pick where you're going to go was that understated. In many IKEA stores, they approximate atria. I quickly made my way to the restaurant. The restaurant is clean, bright, and spacious. I was thinking along the lines of salmon, but then opted for fish and chips. The platter was tasty. To that, I added a vegetable medallion. I detest spicy food and would take bland food over it anytime. That said, they are much like how it is with wafer-like matzoh bread, where it's bland but you just keep snacking on it. These vegetable medallions have the same effect and I could eat many more. I also added a slice of strawberry cheesecake. With the IKEA Family card, coffee or tea are free. No, I did not go all the way up to North York for free coffee. I went because, like McDonald's, I crave an IKEA meal every once in a while. The pricing was fine and I was satisfied with the final tab. I was content with how this Canadian IKEA priced those vegetable medallions. IKEA stores in the States and in Europe borderline rob people with how much they charge for them. The general area around the store is a nice one. The personnel here are very polite. The customers are also well behaved. The people watching in the world's most ethnically diverse metropolitan area can be very interesting and, in analogous terms, it is Houston that is the U.S.'s most diverse metropolitan area, not New York or Los Angeles. It's 4 stars for this IKEA because I would gladly return. Honestly I love coming here for affordable meals and they never disappoint - I would just avoid going at dinner time when the food becomes stale as it is served cafeteria style. There's one cafeteria lady there who is always rude and honestly looks like she would rather drop dead than continue to be in the service industry. I hope she's happy. Ikea has certainly changed over the years! The décor rooms are inspirational, and most of our duvets and duvet covers were purchased here. I like their kitchen cookware, and the prices are reasonable. The service can be hit or miss, and I find it's much harder to find help during weekends. The furniture can be challenging to assemble, especially if parts are missing or misaligned. I have to say, their cafeteria food imo is quite awful. Went to IKEA in North York today to order cabinets for our kitchen. Initially the staff in the kitchen department did not come across as helpful. Eventually a female rep started warming up and helping us with our design, answering our questions etc. Unfortunately she had to go on break and the experience went south. The next staff member was already irate and agitated when he started to assist and eventually had an argument with us. We made a complaint and Iana, a manager in another section came to help us. This was such a blessing as she turned our very poor experience into a great one. She made great suggestions, took us around the showroom to look at different ideas which sparked great conversation surrounding our design. By the end, we were grateful to have met Iana and have her insight into what features would work best for us. The best part was we came in under budget and got a really good bang for our buck. When you go to the store, look up Iana- her customer service skills are exceptional and she will be sure to point you in the right direction. read more

I happened to be around the area and got really hungry - not knowing what to eat, I saw Ikea in the distance and instantly thought of their meatballs. Glad they have a big sign, cause it really helped navigate me through the big plaza and find parking - which is pretty huge by the way. The layout of Ikea itself is very similar to the others - with the same flow setup of furniture and then food court at the end - of course you can walk through the shortcuts to get to the food section directly. Food section was also exactly the same - with the prices, items all similar. I do like that consistency cause I wanted to go in without any surprise and get my main craving, the meatballs! I always liked their meatballs and I'm glad it's the same consistency as I remembered. Very juicy, great texture and love the gravy. The dish also comes with a cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and green peas - a very heart warming meal. There were a lot of green peas - so be warned cause I know some people really hate this ingredient! Anyways, I did not walk through the Ikea store cause I wasn't buying anything and was simply passing by - but definitely next time, I will spend some more time to soak in the whole experience. read more

Can't come to IKEA and not get some meatballs and ice cream! I'm sure everyone has been to IKEA and know about their simple design furniture (although, time consuming to build in my opinion). This location is always rammed with people regardless of day and time that you come, so be prepared to be a little snug with other patrons shopping. The prices are all fairly reasonable here and you can find some great pieces for your home that is practical and useful. Now, you can't come to IKEA and not get their food! They have a cafeteria where you serve hot plated food with a self serve area as well. The second food section is the fast food area after checkout where you can grab quick bites like hot dogs and ice cream. I always opt for the cafeteria Swedish meatballs and my partner always gets the fish and chips. Both are always so delicious and hits the spot, since we love IKEA food! The lingonberry soda is also really refreshing and not too sweet. Lastly, you have to get a cone on your way out regardless if you buy anything or not. Did you know Ikea sells breakfast? Classic breakfast with scrambled eggs, fries and your choice of bacon or sausage for $3.95, which is bargain these days. At least I didn't know until I had to drive my partner to the hospital because of an injury in the morning and it was super close to this Ikea. As you know the hospital wait is hours and this was the perfect place to kill some time. The food court isn't really built for working but I was lucky and got a spot with a one outlet so I can plug in a laptop and do work while enjoying my breakfast and complimentary IKEA coffee (with Ikea membership). The morning isn't too busy at all but when you get to the noon and after can be a bit loud so have your headphones ready. Overall great experience. Ignore some the prior pictures I attached of the plants and pancake which was from a previous visit. The swedish frozen pancakes are really good and I'm bummed I think they discontinued it. Food was decent as a fast food place but food was just warm. Flavour is pretty good overall but the cheesecake seemed to be overly sweet. The poutine was quite good. I forgot to take picture of the haddock and chips. I got to the place 15 min before restaurant closing so the fish and chips wasn't very temperature hot, but both fries and fish were still tasty and still lightly crispy on the outside. The line was long, but we still moved at a good pace. I also got the free coffee. The checkout person didn't ask me for the family card so had to cancel the transaction and scan the card, that was what I didn't like. Refillable coffee is always nice. We finally checked out the food court at Ikea North York location and its quite busy with a good amount of selections. Here was what we ordered... You line up in a queue and pick up a trolley and a tray and there's certain items you can just get off the stations they place desserts, drinks, apps and snacks, and mains are scooped by staff. We got the Swedish meatballs meal for $9 and the Salmon Fillet meal for $12. Swedish meatball meal comes with mash potato n gravy, and a bit of steam green peas. The Salmon fillet comes with steam green beans and another steam veggie n two slice of beets cover with some red sauce over the salmon.. We also picked up one veggie spring roll for $2. The salmon was quite dry, but the sauce that compliments it tasted decent... Everything else on that dish was not that good.. The Swedish meatball was decently tender and not dry, and the mash potato with gravy was good... There is ample seating as well. We also got when you're checking out the chili hot dog for $1.50 and Vanilla Yogurt Ice Cream for $2. Its a decent hot dog, though a bit small, but tasty. The ice cream was good too... They sell the Swedish frozen meatball bag for $13 as the meal you get 8pcs. Still the oldest and best IKEA location in toronto. Biggest cafeteria and widest variety of food and dessert. Classic store design and the food is nostalgic to a tee. Everytime I hit up IKEA I gotta get me some swedish meatballs and a slice of daim cake if it 's available that day. The pastas are hit and miss usually (as well as the fish) but the swedish meatballs are always consistent and NEVER fail. I visited the new IKEA store that opened recently at yonge and gerrard (my friend lives in the building), and walking around was just meh. The IKEA on provost hits different when you walk inside. The caf ladies I feel, are also way more generous with the soft serve at the provost location. The coffee machines are also maintained well and the condiments bar is always stocked up, which was not the case at the yonge and gerrard location. read more

You can get them frozen in the food section or you can eat them in their cafeteria style restaurant, among other pretty good reasonably priced food choices. Don't forget their $1 hot dogs and excellent plant based soft served frozen treats (I swear it's just as good as ice cream). Oh yeah, they also sell household furniture/furnishings, good value for your money but you need to spend time assembling some of the furniture pieces. Since restrictions have been eased recently we weren't sure if there'd be a long line to get in. We got there around 9:30 am on a weekday with the expectation of a 10 am opening. Customers wanting to go into the store and those looking to return items all start going in the same direction and then those going for returns start snaking into a line and everyone keeps walking towards the entrance. There's an employee at the entrance asking customers to use the hand sanitizer and enter one by one. Once inside I found that it was quite easy to physically distance from other customers or just wait for a bit if we want to look at the same thing. I feel like it's been forever since I've been to IKEA and there's products that I hadn't seen the last time I'd been (vanity mirror cabinets, kitchen sinks, range hoods, baking supplies). It's almost the end of the year and it's black friday coming soon. I think this is Ikea strategy that giving out some discount prior to that big sale. We received the $25 off $150. And we checked there was a tv bench and display case with glass door both on sale and we would like to have. However, they were all out of stock in Ontario stores. There were so many ppl at the North York location. And we found black color of the 8 drawers organizer still have a few in stock, but when we found it, it only have 2 left. They were running out fast. The only thing we would like to say is why they don't offer internal transfer. If other locations have multiple stocks, we have to travel all the way to buy. I've been buying furniture and accessories from here for many, many years! You can't beat the prices, and mine have stood the test of time. While I rely on other brands for certain areas of my home, I have to say, their bed frames, bookcases and tables have come a long ways in terms of style and functionality. You can easily spend over an hour browsing through just the housewares section alone. I usually visit just when they open, to avoid the lineups. This was my first visit back to the IKEA restaurant since before the pandemic. There was a lineup to get in, but they were quick and efficient as they checked vaccination records and IDs. I was craving their meatballs, so I went with the classic. Eight meatballs, with mashed potatoes and a side of lingonberry jam with gravy. It continues to be a reliable comfort food. The only thing that was surprising is that the dish used to contain 10 meatballs for several dollars less. I guess that's what they call inflation. We also orders their new plant balls which were on special for $3.99 with the same sides. They were so delicious we purchased some frozen packages for home. We also had their $1 coffee and Swedish apple pie ($2.49) which were both phenomenal value. It's nice to see life getting back to normal. IKEA really IS common sense when it comes to an easy, kid friendly dinner! Relatively cheap price, although it did go up in the past year. They only use one side of the serving area on weekdays, and open up both sides on weekends. Staffing restrictions! Adults each ordered a main meal plus a soup (for me) and a kid's meal (for him), and kids both ordered two kids meals each. We have big appetites! We loved that kid's meals comes with apple slices and a drink! I was looking forward to trying the strawberry soft serve ice cream, but the machine was out of order . This extremely popular location is always out of stock and it was really rough trying to build out a home office during Covid! It seems like their stock issues have been eased somewhat but not completely. I checked online the night before going in store to note where specific items were located (some LED lighting strips) but it turned out they were out of stock the next morning anyways. Speaking of timing, it's way better to go around opening when parking is plentiful and the aisles aren't as crowded. I actually stopped by twice in the same day - once an hour after opening and the next time after lunch in the afternoon. Highly recommend going earlier. One disappointing thing was that they are no longer serving cinnamon buns! We were told by an associate that they might bring them back one day but as of right now they were off the menu. A few interesting things to note: - The line for returns and exchanges is currently outdoors. There are signs indicating this. It's near the front of the barricades that direct you to the entrance. - There are smaller rolling baskets similar to the ones that you might find in a grocery store. I saw people using them although I didn't see the stations where you can pick them up. - There is a security guard manning the exit so if you leave, you cannot go back in this way to get to the cafe. I bought two Lixhult cabinets. One of them was defective. I had to hire a handy man, and he had to drill the holes that were missing. This was the worse product I have ever purchased. Its over priced and its small. Btw Ikea used to have assemblers or handy man. Now they use task rabbit, another app that is defective. This whole ordeal has left me beside myself. read more
