Went to Yorkdale to do some shopping, and stopped by Michels Bakery for some baked goodies. I used to love coming here to get a quick pastry during my lunch break when I used to work in the mall, years ago. I loved their chicken salad sandwiches and their quinoa salads. They also have pre-made sandwiches to go and, hot foods like beef stew, lasagna, and sometimes chicken curry. Line up was moving quick, and service was fast and friendly, I got me some savoury pastries and some sweet pastries to go. They had a buy 5 get 1 free special. I believe they always had that, and sometimes if you go before closing, they have buy 1 get 1 free. Anyway, I still very much enjoyed the savoury pastries, but the sweet ones were not the same as they used to be. Next time, I will just opt for their savoury vs their sweet ones.

The best orange cranberry bread I've ever had. So good. I should have bought two loaves to take home.

I understand the struggles we're having with inflation, the impact Covid had on the industry and supply chain issues, but $5 for an average croissant isn't justified. For fans of their ham and cheese, you can see from this pic that they're using sliced ham vs cube and it's a flat pastry vs the previous multi layered version. The cherry cheese croissant was on par, but can't quite get over the price increases, unless it's the only option to stay in business. Wish you nothing but continued success!

If you have any trouble finding this place in Yorkdale...just follow your nose! The aroma is very potent and can really pull in a crowd. It has seating both inside the store and some tables out front. If it's super busy you might find yourself having to sit at the couches a little farther down. I was really thirsty after trekking through Yorkdale for a few hours. I was looking for something refreshing and not caffeinated or in a bottle. I settled on getting a mango smoothie (they also have strawberry) for $4.70 before tax. That seemed a tad bit expensive, especially since I wasn't entirely sure if it was fresh fruit. It turned out being pretty thick and it was good but it did taste like canned mango. My mom had the iced tea refresher which is an artificial mixer (kind of looked like Kool Aid) and iced tea from a tub. She said it was also pretty thirst quenching but a bit on the sweet side. We also split a ginormous blueberry cheese danish which was perfect for two people. It was really tasty. Flaky pastry that held together when cutting into it and a nice balance between the sweet blueberry jam and the cheese. It's pretty busy there all the time and the staff are actually kind of curt with people. It's chaotic because there isn't a dedicated cashier and they all switch off so you wind up getting shouted at by a lot of different staff. They also didn't take my name or anything so when my drinks were ready I just had "hey" shouted at me lol. They have cutlery available to the left side of cash and the also have paper straws.

This bakery is pretty good for being located in a shopping mall. We randomly decided to try the pastries here while walking by, and it was quite satisfactory. We ordered a regular croissant, chocolate croissant, coffee, and milk. The croissants were bigger than normal, chewy and soft. There's no wow-factor to be honest, but it's a decent cafe with good baked goods.

This was my favourite croissant place until now. The croissants we ordered today were flat and without any crispness; the coffee and soup were both luke warm and tasteless. The servers did not even ask if we wanted to heat up the croissants and soup. I think I will start to look for another better croissant place.

Not bad, just nothing special. Michel's Bakery Cafe is inside Yorkdale Mall. There's a lengthy wait, especially on the weekend and if you want to get a seat. Instead, I just had some pastries to go. The lineup is about 5-10 minutes, at 4pm in the afternoon. They offer bagels, croissants, buns, Danishes and other pastries. I tried one specialty chocolate croissant and another cheese and jam Danish. Total added up to $7.35 including tax. They tasted meh, maybe even a bit dry. It wasn't bad, but just nothing special. It tastes the same as the pastries at the grocery store. They have a good display and presentation. But I feel like this place was more hype - you are only interested because you see a long line and big crowd.

The pastries are good, if you buy 6 you pay only for 5. My favourite is the almond croissant and the blueberry cheese danish.

I've walked passed Michel's bakery right in the morning and I can smell the fresh pastries being pulled from the oven. I got the almond croissant for a friend but I had a piece and it was good. I liked how the almond butter wasn't too sweet and that the almond croissant was still super fluffy.

There's nothing I enjoy more in this world then a freshly baked light and fluffy piece of bread! Most people do not understand my appreciation for bread, but I kidd you not, when they made the phrase, "Man can't live on bread alone" they clearly did not sample the whole population! I went here last weekend for lunch. Yorkdale is a pretty busy mall, and Michel's is no exception. There's two counters, one where you can go buy breads and other goodies from behind the counter, and then there's the line where you can buy food such as soups, sandwiches and desserts. For first timers like myself, it's all sorta confusing because the two lines intersect each other. I tried their onion and cheese bun, which was a good size and absolutely delish! They do have a pretty good size seating area so you can sit and eat. It's like a food court, only they have people to clear the tables. If you are lucky to find one that is clean during busy hours, then grab it. Otherwise you'll have to wait until someone comes to pick up the trays and plates. There is no designated place to put your used plates even if you wanted to clear your table for the next person. table

This is a nice Michel's Baguette location. It opens early on Saturdays & it was already busy when we arrived. They have a nice seating area for those who want to eat off their deli style menu. They also have the quick service window where you can buy bread & pastries. Their loaves sell quickly & for the cranberry loaf they were baking a new batch. They said it wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes. My mom decided to come back for the new batch but by the time we got back it was already sold out! For myself I bought a scone & it was delicious.

The portuguese tart was sickly sweet and soggy. I would not recommend going here (at least for the portuguese tarts).

Opened in Feb 2025, the sandwich shop is set to expand opening a second location near Dundas and Ossington sometime this year. They are open daily from 11am to 5pm where you can pre-order off Ambassador for pick up or opt for delivery with Ubereats. When Ariete E Toro first opened last year, I recall seeing the long lines as it became super popular. Fast forward to a year later, I finally tried Ariete E Toro recently. The storefront is on a side street off of Yonge St. where it is take out only. They do have a bench near the window/entrance of the store but usually it's utilized by people waiting for their sandwiches. In the summer though, they have a small patio in front of the shop with some tables and chairs. Menu wise, Ariete E Toro has a variety of sandwiches with ingredients that work well together. You are also able to build your own sandwich if you'd like. They also have beverages like soda and water as well. The store boasts that all their ingredients are high quality. An average price of a sandwich is around $17. I decided to pre-order 2 sandwiches for pick up. These are the two sandwiches I got: - Enzo (mortadella di bologna, pistachio pesto, stracciatella cheese, chopped pistachio, lemon and basil oil). - Rogo Rogo (prosciutto cotto, 'nduja cream, smoked provolone, caramelized onion, arugula, and brown butter vinaigrette) Entering the store to pick up my order, staff were amidst completing my sandwiches. There was already a regular there chatting with staff. Service was quick. My sandwiches were packed and I had half of each at home. The size of the sandwich was pretty big! I could only finish 3/4th of the sandwich. Both the Enzo and the Rogo Rogo were tasty but the Enzo stole the show. The moist bread with the mortadella where the pistachio pesto and hint of stracciatella cheese along with a slight crunch from the chopped pistachio made for a perfect sandwich (I do prefer the bread a bit harder and crunchier though but the texture of this one was still good). I was sharing the sandwiches with my partner and as he opened the packaging he noticed a piece of hair in the sandwich. I would have given a higher rating on Yelp but finding someone else's hair in your food is off-putting. I do hope that if I return next time (either to this location or to their new location near Ossington/Dundas) that we won't find any surprises in our food. Overall, delicious sandwiches in Midtown Toronto, however, we did find a piece of hair in our sandwiches which.... kind of makes me hesitant to return. **Update** - I wrote a review on Google where the owner personally asked me to email them to rectify the situation with the piece of hair found in my sandwich. The owner apologized and stated that he was actually the one who personally made my sandwich that day (sliced the deli meat, etc.). He also made sure that he would speak with the bread manufacturer to make sure that they were aware of the situation as it may have come from the bread as well. He also gave me a refund for one sandwich as well as a $25 credit for if I wanted to give the sandwich spot another chance (the sandwich is too good to not go back!). That is what I call great customer service - making sure that an apology was given and that customers are happy. Would happily return again for their tasty sandwiches!!
