Wow. Tried to order a Sonos speaker and lamp for my wife online but their CVV code did not work with my AMX? I called customer service and they said my credit card was declined but when I checked online it had never been charged. After about 30 minutes online with someone we determined the CVV code was not excepting three digit codes for whatever reason and I had to come in? I jumped in the car and drove to Costa Mesa location where I walked through the store until I found the section and the box did not correctly label what was inside so I spent another 30 minutes trying to open boxes to see what was inside. Three different people with bright colored vests that work at IKEA walked past me and we're not able to help. I quickly came to the conclusion that this was not going to happen and so I left. I really wanted to buy this for my wife but it came in two parts and they had the shade that goes on top of the speaker but could not find any of the speakers in stock. Nightmare. read more

I read a mommy blog about an unknown playground. I was curious was she was talking about. Come to find out, it was Ikea kids section where they had tables, bedroom displays and toys. I love IKEA! I took my mom and toddler there and he had so much fun. As long as there were no meltdowns, I am good. He had so much fun pretend play in the kid section. He pretended the bedroom was his. When I looked at the parking lot from the freeway, I was astonished to see so many people at IKEA. There was such a long line, I thought we were at Disneyland. The day after Christmas is not a good day to go shopping. However, it does go by quickly, so please wait it out if you contemplate waiting or not. We only came for two things, the HEMNES 8-drawer dresser in white stain and soft serve ice cream. I'm elated to report that we were successful! I don't know if it was because of COVID-19 restrictions, but customer service wasn't that great. We needed help and when my husband went to find a sales associate, the man said that we needed to take a picture and show him. He wasn't friendly at all. I guess he couldn't come directly to the item and had to stay at his post. After we showed him a picture, he printed out the item information and where to locate it. He also told us that he needed to fill out a Chest of Drawers Acknowledgement before we purchased the item. We encounter another unfriendly customer service incident during checkout. The lady guiding customers which line to go to wasn't great either. She was a bit rude and had a slight attitude in her tone of voice. After we paid for the item, we got some well-deserved ice cream. I usually get the soft serve in a cone, but I like that because of the pandemic, they serve it to you in a cup with a lid. There is a new flavor (or new to me anyways), strawberry, so I had to try that, too. They hit the spot, especially since it was a rather warm day. read more

All the items are basically made in China not Sweden- so why are they calling it Ikea? I do not feel that the employees value senior citizens- in fact, I saw very few there today. I want to applaud the restaurant for doing the best they can with the limited staff, I've been here before during the week, it was just fine. Tanya is absolutely terrible. She had an insane attitude before I even spoke and tried to blame the entire situation on me. I paid extra for them to take my items to a Specifc room and that wasn't done it was just left in the middle of the living room. That's fine but we wanted a partial refund since the service we ordered wasn't completed we just wanted to get refunded the extra we paid to get it in a certain area. Not a full one. Their online pickup is horrible. Waited ten minutes trying to get the link to pickup to work, it never loaded after 5 attempts. Went inside and they no longer help you or have a pickup there and was told to go outside and try the QR code. QR code same result, site didn't load. I talked to an ikea employee and he said there is an issue with the IOS and ikeas site doesn't always work, you need to try several times after each hang to get it to work. He manually went back to get it and it was a 30 minute wait. I would rather pay a little extra and not spend an hour trying to pickup an item. read more

We have a love-hate relationship with IKEA. Ever since hubby and I got our apartment during the pandemic, IKEA has been one of our guilty pleasures for ordering affordable trendy furniture/home decor. ONLINE ORDERS: We've ordered a solid amount of our furniture from here November 2020 (in the midst of the pandemic). There were very limited items online and A LOT of the patio furniture we had wanted were unavailable for delivery. As for small items such as kitchenware would take about 2-3 weeks to even deliver to our doorstep. IN-PERSON VISIT: Since online ordering was such a pain, we decided to visit our local IKEA in person. Still, a lot of the furniture, especially outdoor ones were unavailable and the lines to check-out were ridiculously long. However, we did find a majority of small home decor items that were not even featured on their website yet, which was great. We picked up a lot of the faux plants and ceramic planters, which were decent quality and very affordable. Our in-person visit was still more worthwhile than online ordering. DELIVERY: Online delivery was tricky with heavy furniture. You can pay extra for a 3rd party delivery service with assembly assistance through IKEA, but you would have to coordinate when and where they can drop off and come in. Hubby and I did NOT go with that and just went with regular delivery with IKEA without the assembly assistance. We got our couch within the week, but the person who had dropped off our items were rude and gave us a hard time because we live on the 4th floor and they almost did not want to help carry our furniture boxes up to our front door. RETURNS: Fairly easy. We had a one year warranty for unopened furniture. We decided to return our couch since we did not need it. The only struggle was trying to get the giant box back to IKEA. Once we made it to the return lot, the staff came out and helped us carry the box inside and immediately gave us our refund. PANDEMIC STRUGGLES: Due to the pandemic, there was certainly a shortage and delay of items. They do NOT offer in-person furniture pick-up at your door anymore and calling in to their customer service takes at least 45 minutes. It is ridiculous. Overall, hubby and I do not like ordering from IKEA too often. At this point, we'd prefer to just visit in person and picking up what we need. As for furniture, not all of the items are that sturdy and quality is just subpar. You're better off checking out Living Spaces! We do recommend the home decor, as trends constantly come and go. This is the best spot to pick up trendy home decor as it won't break your wallet. read more

I am still new it IKEA! A bit tricky to maneuver, but staff is very eager to help. I need to thank two employees today! First, Kristina, in furnishings went out of her way to help me find the area I needed. She explained how & where to get assistance and went on with her business. I did need help and made my way to the furnishings desk. I watched to people working with Aileen, the employee there. Aileen was kind, patient, professional and friendly to the other customers. Then. Approached her and found her to be a total delight. She gave me great guidance. Once I made my selections, Aileen careful documented everything and explained where to go to make my purchase. I told Aileen I wanted to tell someone how happy I am with her assistance. She quietly called her manager. And that turned out to be Kristina, who helped me earlier. I told her about how much help Aileen was. Kristina was not at all surprised. She smiled from ear to ear and said Aileen is one of the best! Storage. With me and craft storage, my go-to stores are The Container Store and IKEA. Why? The Container Store has clear sweater bins with lids that fit exactly into the Kallax shelves Ikea sells. And I love that. On Saturdays, IKEA is a crush of humanity. If you shop anytime after Noon, find a flat cart to take into the store with you from the parking lot because there will not be one in the store waiting for you. At least that's what happened to me. And when you've pre-planned to shop in the warehouse, that's annoying. I'm the size of an elf. I need a cart! A new feature you get scanning the IKEA Family card before you check out is 5% off your purchase. That discount is worth the trip to Costa Mesa. I had absolutely no problem finding the item in the aisle and bin it was supposed to be in. And self check-out was a breeze. read more

The Swedish Meatballs are a classic, but we tried the Salsa Chicken and Garlic Lemon Cod for the first time and both were fantastic. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the fish was super light and flavorful. I still like this Ikea even though the dude name 'Dan' or 'Dean' (blond hair) was so dramatic at the return/exchange area. Today 11/11/22 at 4 pm, I brought some of the items to return including one lamp that I bought from the AS-IS section. He said that I could not return this light, which was understandable. I continued to ask him what is the best way to remove the sticker residue from the lamp. He answered me with "why do you think that I would knowwww?." What kind of savage bitchy attitude non sense crap is this? I didn't want to clap back because it is not worth my time arguing with people who have that type of attitude. I LOVE IKEA!! My room looks like an Ikea Show room. From my Malm bed, with matching bed sheets and duvets, to the Lack I use as my nightstand, my room is as "Ikea" as it gets. And not even because they are affordable, but I genuinely like the simplistic style and easy to assemble concept behind Ikea furniture. It is an extra plus for me that they have $1 non fat Vanilla soft serve after the check out area so I can indulge a little before I prepare to assemble my furniture... Oh wait, who are we kidding, I don't actually assemble any of my furniture. The $1 non fat Vanilla soft serve is a bribe to make someone else assemble my furniture. I highly recommend Ikea furniture for college students or someone who is renting, not yet owning... My bed has survived 6 years with me now, but I don't think it can handle another move. IKEA system glitch. My wife and I were in-store shopping for a sleeper couch. We found one that we liked for nearly $1,500. This was a little steep for our budget, but we perused the other colors. When we selected the gray color, the price dropped to $1,000, which we thought might have been some sort of discounted price. We decided that we were comfortable with that price and asked an associate to help us obtain the parts. The associate experienced the same thing. Initial price was $1,500 but went down to $1,000. So we paid, got our parts, and went home. When I began putting it together, I realized that this was not a sleeper couch. It was a typical love sofa. At this point I went to the website to retrace our steps and realized that when you switch through the colors on this particular couch, it switches the product! The two couches look so similar though that isn't noticeable. I called the customer service number and walked them through these steps, which they acknowledged as being a faulty web function. I was told that my only option is to return it at the store (which is really out of the way) or exchange the parts and pay the additional $400-500. EXTREMELY frustrating experience. While I'm not interested in getting $400 worth of product for free, I did expect some sort of accommodation since my purchase decision was largely impacted by price. Now this has also eaten up several hours of my time, which I can't get back, and my only reconciliation is to cut my losses of time or pay several hundred dollars more. I would much rather return it, wash my hands of it, and shop elsewhere. Very unfortunate, because I previously enjoyed shopping at IKEA. read more

Carson (the closer location) didn't have it so down to Costa Mesa we went. It not far off the freeway so, not trippin'. Didn't even go in. We did the drive up pickup. Called in order. They sent a payment method electronically so we could log on and pay. No need to give the credit card number over the phone. We roll up and follow the signs. Text the number on the parking stall sign and they wheeled the items out and left them by the car. We loaded and were out. Easy. It is Orange County so politics and PPE adherence by other people in the parking lot were far from impressive. Final Word: Their drive up and pick up service was easy and back on the freeway, headed home, in no time. read more

Relax and lighten up! Geez. My experience was good, except for the b*tchy lady at the front down by the elevators who snarked at my friend for not having the "right" face mask. Seriously? Did she think she was the mask police? Other than that, they have great affordable deals on furniture and accessories. The only thing that sucks is that you have to put it together yourself! Ha! TIP: If you don't intend on ever breaking down your furniture, superglue keeps well for years ;) If you're looking for high quality, fancy furniture, you will need to consider looking elsewhere. I love IKEA furniture not only because it's affordable but it actually looks good and gives you an opportunity to be creative! I totally forgot how big this place is, but it's totally easy to navigate throughout the store. Staff and employees are super friendly and helpful. There's an "AS IS" section on the first floor by the cashiers which I never knew about! Kind of cool but I didn't see anything really worth getting. There is now only one long line for check out. From there, you wait for the next available cashier. The line moves quickly so be f'n patient! Parking was plentiful on a Saturday night. This review is for the returns desk. Over the last few days, I've purchased and returned a wardrobe cabinet several time. I thought the last time I returned I had ordered a smaller size, but when I got home, I realized they were the same size as the one I returned. So I'm a huff, I reloaded everything and went back to return the items. I was helped by Myrna at the returns desk. I was annoyed and felt like she was asking dumb questions, but it turns out I had ordered the wrong item. Not only was Myrna professional in her responses to my attitude filled questions, she processed the transaction whither showing me that I had ordered the wrong item. I was totally wrong and she didn't even say anything. After I realized my mistake of course I apologized but I felt like it wasn't enough. My family and I went to IKEA today to see if we could return a rug that we hadn't really used. It was about a year ago, and last month we were able to return 2 rugs - no problem that were also about a year old. Of course we were told they couldn't return it, so we asked if it would be possible to ask their manager if they would be able to come take a look at it seeing as we were able to return our other ones a month earlier. BRYAN, the "manager" comes over to speak with us. I explain to him that entire situation above (and even told him that we understood if we couldn't return, we were just wondering if he'd take a look). Bryan was not only rude, but he was extremely condescending and hostile. He very obviously and bluntly said he did not care about anything I had to say. Look - I've experienced rude employees before and normally I just ignore it. But this guy went above and beyond the rude employee scale. I mean he clearly was extremely arrogant and very bluntly rude to a woman that was so much smaller than him in size. I had to verbally ask him multiple times to reduce his tone and to let me speak because he would speak over me, speak down to me, cut me off and interrupt me. IKEA - I have already called customer service to complain, but the level of arrogance and demeaning attitude towards customers, and women in particular, needs to be addressed immediately and addressed with corrective action ASAP as he has the potential to cause some kind of harassment lawsuit when he eventually allows his temper to escalate. I work in customer service myself and HR, and never have I ever treated (or seen my GM or AM's) treat customers this way. It was beyond unbelievable and uncomfortable to say the least. I visited this location yesterday for the 1st time in a long while. Store and products were fine but stay away from the restaurant. This review is solely on the food located upstairs. The quality is soooo bad. Peas looked awful. Meatballs were dry. I received a 1/4 of a teaspoon of cranberry jelly with my dinner plate.Thats tiny. The sparkling water from the dispenser had an aftertaste. Only thing that was good was my cheesecake. Even the coffee not good. Lesson learned. read more

June 2020 My boyfriend and I stopped in this past weekend to buy a few things for the house. As of June 2020 they are open and limit the # customers that enter the store. Masks are required. Order pickup is also available, but it seems like their Click & Collect system is overwhelmed with orders & we had little to no luck trying to access the system for pick up. In store shopping experience: Once my boyfriend and I decided to commit to the Disneyland sized line to get into the store the rest was not bad. The line wrapped around a few times when we got there on Sunday around 4pm. We ended up standing in line (social distancing) and were in line for about 20 minutes. It seems like everyone in the store had mask so we didn't have much to worry about. There were a ton of items that we looked at and it seems like they were out of stock. We decided to go with some items that we were able to grab with no issues, I just wish they had the inventory for the items we really came in there for! Parking: Ikea's parking lot is huge, but there are also a ton of Ikea goers so you may find yourself walking from one end of the lot to the other.
