IKEA Brooklyn is a large store with everything you would expect from IKEA. Needed to help a friend look for plant, and office accessories for their new office. Because I refuse to pay the higher prices for goods that have been marked up, and grossly inflated due to tariffs. I chose to window shop, and look at ordering faux plants from other sources that are tariff free. IKEA has great items for your home or office, although the prices are much higher that they used to be. 5/3/25

My friend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon to test out couches. I haven't been to many IKEAs, but I imagine that this one is standard. The showrooms are on the second floor, with the first floor being the warehouse and some smaller household items (ex.: lamps, side tables, plates, etc.). We had a few questions and spoke with a few different sales associates. Some were very helpful, and others were a bit unclear with their answers. We also paid a visit to the bistro on the second floor, which was good and affordable.

Super fun spot to spend a day! there is a very convenient bus that takes you to Ikea (though i've also heard there is a free ferry). It's massive inside and you can spend hours looking at and trying the furniture, as well as a great spot for stocking your kitchen. We got a bit peckish after browsing for a while and also really enjoyed the restaurant and swedish meatballs. There's a ton of novelty in going to Ikea and will definitely be spending more time here!

Brooklyn IKEA is in Red Hook, Bklyn, but has all the amenities of any other ikea. I live in Manhattan, so I took the 40 min ferry across the Hudson River. It's faster than taking the train & #61 bus to the last stop which will take an 1 hour 1/2 ride based on where ur coming from. Ohhh, by the way the Ferry is FREE from the Westside - W. 44th St Ferry Terminal. Or u can drive & it's Free parking.

It's an ikea so I have no expectations for service. This one is generally well organized, and clean. The restaurant there can be a bit slow depending on the time of day so you have to be patient. If there's any sort of price discrepancies, even if you were to take a picture of the price tag employees generally were not helpful or they said conflicting things so it wasn't even worth my time to dispute. I am willing to deal with that though to get reasonably priced and or cheap furniture or knickknacks to fill my apartment. It is better to go there on a weekday. It's not so crowded.

It's IKEA. You get what you pay for. It's for those who are transitioning and only need this piece of furniture for a year or two. I came here for a bed for a toddler, so we aren't going to use it for long. Some of the beds that are less than $100 were very poorly made. It is solid wood, but without varnish or finishing, it will not last very long. The IKEA staff varies from being not helpful at all to very helpful. YMMV. We had lunch there out of convenience. It is cafeteria style. The wait on line was ridiculous because they only had one lane open. It took me 30 min to order in a cafeteria. The food was not as bad as it could have been. I got the swedish meatballs, salmon and pulled pork. The salmon was actually quite good and the tot ate the whole fillet. The fries were surprisingly crisp as well.

Free ferry on the weekend make sure to check their schedule. It was a nice ride from manhattan and into Brooklyn directly in front of ikea parking lot. There is a play land section if your kids want to hangout there instead of shopping with you for 30 minutes. There is also a food court upstairs. Meatballs chicken tenders French fries Mac and cheese salmon chocolate cake. Very kids and adult friendly. You order your food and then pay. Then find yourself a seat. There might be a wait during the weekend if you drop by during lunch hours but there are plenty of seatings. IKEA has a lot of furnitures and home display and DIY items. Very affordable items and cool to just browse around on a cold day. After check out there is also hot dog of $1! Love their meatballs as always with the gravy and lingonberry jam.

From 42nd St subway, can walk or take the M42 bus (free xfer) to get to the west side pier, where a lot of water transport boats are docked. Didn't know of this area until now. Went once to the Bklyn IKEA by car and just read about the free ferry on weekends, schedule runs til 9/1/24. The views were really the highlight - from midtown, around the Battery park area to Wall St stop, Governor's Island, Statue of Liberty, and NJ side. Bring a water bottle bec it does get hot under the sun. We got off and an easy walk through the parking lot and we were there. To the restaurant first on the upper floor. Seating is more spread out, with some outdoor views which was nice. Menu is same as other locations. No decaf coffee (I usually make it iced). Store area is not as large as the Long Island location. The showroom had a lot of covered sections so wasn't a good day for that so just went downstairs to the marketplace. Had to think of how much we were buying bec we will be taking the train home. I was ready with a few reusable bags but got a nice one to put cushions which I got. Planned to get to the dock earlier after seeing a long line before but wanted to get a drink from the snack shop. At 5:30pm, they had almost nothing available for food/drinks- no fountain drinks or water. Vending machine was broken too. Restrooms need better maintenance. Took the last ferry and the line wasn't bad. Views were nicer with the sun going down and air was cooler.

I enjoyed this location better than the Hicksville Long Island due to the sheer size, easier parking and just the overall friendliness of the staff and patron. Even better is nearby Red hook there are so many good restaurants to visit after a day of shopping. I especially like the cafeteria where there is a Clear view of Manhattan.

IKEA has great prices, and although it requires a subway and bus for me to get there, it is worth the trip. The IKEA shuttle starts in the afternoon, so getting there earlier on an MTA bus is an option. IKEA member benefits include a cafe item on birthday, free coffee and a generous birthday coupon. It is huge, so if not relying on signage to locate items, I suggest asking staff. Many times I arrived at checkout to find items usually displayed there had been moved, requiring a long trek back into store. Once finished shopping, you can check out the dock next door, see photo.

When we went on a Sunday afternoon it was not that busy. There are lots of options, prices have increased, but that is life these days. We didn't buy anything but it was worth a look.

It's an IKEA! Only difference is this one is in Red Hook BRKLN, and has a view of the Manhattan skyline from the bistro. I brought my laptop to get some things done using their free WiFi. Sat on a cushy couch in the cafe lobby sipping my free endless teas as an IKEA family card member. Had the lemon cod, mashed potatoes with gravy and peas. When I finished eating, I did a little shopping. Inexpensive kitchen and bedding, art, candles, mirrors, plants to peruse. Same as any other store. The model kitchens are my favorites, always Imagining which styles I'd put in my next home. After day dreaming a bit, I finished the outing with a warm cinnamon bun from the cafe by the checkouts. I walked out to catch the B57 which was serendipitously waiting right out front, and will take me to steps from my door. I'll be back!

IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I ABSOLUTELY WOULD! DO NOT!!!! GO HERE FOR ANY BUSINESS. DRIVE TO THE LONG ISLAND LOCATION. The staff was beyond disgusting. I had to return something and waited over an hour to be taken only to listen to the employee 'assisting' me complain about working. Every minute i heard "im going home, im leaving, im going home soon" meanwhile it's 8:15 and they don't close until 9. Got into a verbal argument with her about having to wait over an hour while she dealt with ONE customer and she got nasty with me and tried to defend herself in front of her manager and coworkers. The place is very difficult to navigate around and it doesnt help that there are BARELY ANY employees around to direct you. The ones that ARE around read more

Customer service is almost literally THE worst. And trust me, you will run into a problem, and need to contact customer service. If you order from Ikea, prepare to be stranded. For delivery, which most NYC people use, you get a phone call that will tell you your delivery time, from 6-9pm the day before your delivery is scheduled. They use another company to handle deliveries. The good news is, the delivery men employed by this company do their job better than anyone else you will come across in this entire process. So you get your call from 6-9pm, but you cannot be proactive about finding out your delivery information beforehand and if you need to reschedule, Ikea has already CLOSED. They tell you your delivery time AFTER they close and give you NO TIME to reschedule. You can email Ikea and never receive a response, or call at 9 am when they open (and your package is probably already on the truck) but if you call customer service, you will be told your wait time is 7 minutes, and be on hold for FOUR AND A HALF HOURS. 7 min = 4 1/2 hours in Ikea world. The company gives no ****s about its customers and if you live a stressful life, go somewhere else. There are hundreds of other shopping options that will take up less of your precious time. read more

I hate this store. They have the worst delivery and customer service imaginable. I moved to NYC about a month ago. I rode the water taxi out to Ikea and bought all kinds of stuff. But no one would help me go around and get it. To get help with that, I was told you have to pay ($50 I think) and come during particular (inconvenient) hours. So I had the pleasure of loading 4 bookshelves, a TV stand, a dresser, and a bed onto a cart to push around. As a female by myself, this wasn't easy to say the least. I did get some help from one employee who saw me with the bookshelves, and another customer helped me with another piece of furniture. Then I had to pay $100 to have it delivered to Manhattan. Because clearly I can't take all of that on the subway. This was October 12. I set my furniture to be delivered on the 15th, a Saturday, because I work during the week. I really needed the furniture ASAP since my apartment consisted of a mattress and a million boxes. I couldn't unpack the boxes until I had furniture to put the contents on. When they showed up on Saturday, they tried to give me someone else's stuff. After more than an hour on the phone with customer service, I was finally told that my stuff was put on the wrong truck. So I set delivery for the following weekend. Well, the next Saturday, they showed up with my stuff - minus the TV stand. The following weekend, they were supposed to show up on Sunday with the stand. Even though I had a million errands to run, I stayed home to wait. No one ever showed up or called. My TV stand was finally delivered yesterday, November 5th, 21 days late. In the meantime, I had to use the dresser as a stand, which I naturally managed to scratch up since I had to lift the heavy TV alone and set it on such a high surface. And when I tried to put together the bed, I noticed a crack. Once I actually put the bed together, the crack got bigger and the bed collapsed. I called customer service and asked if they could bring a new part with my TV stand, which still hadn't been delivered at that point. Of course they couldn't. The woman I spoke to on the phone told me I could get new parts, and that I should bring in the old parts so they could make sure to give me the exact right part. Well, considering the length of the trip and how big the broken piece was, I just took the smaller part of the broken piece instead of the whole thing, and brought the instruction manual so I could point to the exact right part. So I take the crazy long trip, this time taking the shuttle. I get there and have to wait for about 20 minutes to talk to someone. Who tells me that I need to have the whole part. I explain all of the above and note how frustrated I have been with this experience, hoping that will have some influence. I also point out that I spent almost $1000 on my purchase. She relays this to her manager over the phone. But she seems to have an attitude the whole time, like how could I possibly think they would replace my part without the entire old part. Even though I had my receipt and proof that it was broken. She said they couldn't do anything with the small part I brought in, that they could use the big piece. I have no idea wtf they could possibly plan on doing with a seriously broken part of a bed frame, but whatever. At this point I am just so upset and frustrated by the process that my voice is getting that half-strangled sound that indicates I'm so pissed part of me is close to crying about it. The thought of going all the way home and back makes me want to hit something. My fourth weekend ruined by Ikea since I moved here. So I tell the girl that I will just buy the bed again, open it, take out the part I need, and throw the rest away. She then gets even bitchier and tells me that I can't do that and I shouldn't be telling her these plans, as if they are illegal or something. She says you can only get store credit anyway, so you wont get your money back. As if I would get store credit for throwing furniture away. Annoyed beyond belief now, I say that I wasn't going to return anything for store credit, but was going to eat $200 to not have to come back to this place a third time. She then told me that there was no need to be rude to her. She was just trying to help me. I then actually apologized to her, despite that being bs, and said that I was just extremely frustrated and this month had been one of the worst experiences I'd ever had. She just looked at me snootily. So I am now on my way back home to get the freaking part and then going all the way back and then back home again! The only way I haven't managed to go nuts is by writing this review, so maybe I can at least warn other people! And no, I'm still not home despite having written all of this on my phone. If I get back and they tell me they ran out of the part or something, it may result in me actually screaming at a customer service person for the first time ever. read more

Tried ordering a custom item for the kitchen. 2 days later, item never delivered because the order was never put in their system. Order arrives a day later and we open the boxes and realize that the dimensions are completely wrong. This Ikea is an Epic Fail. Go to Long Island or New Jersey. read more

I am not a fan of Red Hook having lived there when it was bad and it is a place I am proud to have escaped so I only go there if I have to.(in spite of it's present popularity it is popular only with those who are not from NY and don't know any better) Last time I was in Red Hook it was for a funeral. See my review FTR for Red Hook for more. http://www.yelp.com/biz/red-hook-neighborhood-brooklyn#hrid:q2sMWeY6wol9C2nu4tTs3w We had to help my husband's brother pick out a few things for his apartment and he doesn't know how to do those things. Fascinating how someone can be a nuclear engineer and not be able to match or make simple choices about colors and furniture and styles of furniture. He has seen extreme make over and gets the concept but can't apply it to his life. I personally would NEVER buy a book shelf or bed at Ikea -ever! They are too cluttered looking and too cheaply made. Ikea can best be described as college dorm furniture. (though they do have furniture for children's rooms) it seems best for the single life. Hence our trip to Ikea to pick out my brother in laws furniture. For me it is super easy to do so I don't have an issue with it. But there are some things that Ikea does well. It is inexpensive and there are some pieces that are worth going to Ikea for especially for the price. Like chairs and lighting ,clothes storage systems ,closest organizers, blinds and throw rugs, Chester drawers and a few other items for modern city living. My husband actually picked out some lighting for our apartment. We did not need to ask any questions or have anyone helps us so I can't comment on the customer service. But I will comment on the crowd. There were a few original Red Hook residents there because I lived there for so long I still know the few original residents that are unfortunate enough to still be there. (most are dead now or left happily) Some Sunset Park residents and the rest of the customers were transplants now living in Red Hook when we went. The thing about transplants that is so frustrating is they do not understand NY codes for communication so they are pretty much in the way. About the food there is a cafeteria and the food is cheap. We went by the Ice House in Red Hook having seen rave reviews for it on Yelp. Wow what a trash hole! So we ate at Ikea. Food was cheap. Like someone else said it is like school cafeteria food kind of fun comfort food. The lines were long at the check out line. But it is the only Ikea in the 5 boros. There is one in LI but I hate going to LI unless I have to and 2 in North Jersey (Paramus and Elizabeth) and one in Ct. So it's the closest location. read more

I've been to this location about 3 times. It's very crowded and run down because of the high volume of customers. This is understandable in New York City. The most challenging aspect is the customer service. My finance approached an employee. He was busy with another customer but after waiting 10 minutes my finance asked if he could ask a quick question. He told him no, he was helping the customers and he would be done in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later he was not done. The staff just glanced over at us and said it was a bigger order than he thought. He would be five minutes more. The customer being served and the ikea staff had the audacity to break out into small talk while we had been waiting for 30 minute. We searched around for other staff but most of them had 3-4 customers waiting to speak to them while this one staff was serving this customer for 30 minutes. We later we able to find somebody to speak to us to find that the chair was not available in the store. It took her about 2 minutes to provide us the information. From his body language and his glances over at us he seemed aware we were frustrated and purposely took things slower because he was understood there was nothing we could do about it which is the most frustrating aspect. If you have a car I would recommend the Paramus IKEA it is less run down and less people. You will more likely be able to shop leisurely and provided help when needed. Some suggestions for this particular IKEA 1. Hire more staff for this high traffic store 2. Train customer service staff to think strategically when helping customers 3. Implement a communication system between employees so high traffic areas are better managed. Customers are happier and staff are less stressed, therefore less likely to purposely ignore customers. read more

If Obama were to endorse a home furnishings establishment it would definitely be Ikea. Hope. Every time I'm here I feel as if it's New Years Day, or some other revitalizing date on the calendar. I'm surrounded by a myriad of emotions. There's excitement, frustration, confusion, anger, love, fear, perplexity, relief, sadness. The list goes on. I'm often inspired by the variety of characters. Cute couples looking for housewares, parents looking for dorm furnishings for teenagers off to college, kids jumping on furniture and giggling incessantly. The products themselves don't always live up to my expectations, but I always find something I like, be it something from the fantastic As-Is section, 100 tea lights for 5 bones, boxes for my doo-dads. My mission this trip was to find a good place to store my clothing. I failed. Not because they didn't have what I was looking for, but because someone stole all the cash from my wallet (left it in the bathroom, d'oh). But I'm not going to blame it on Ikea. The best aspect of this particular location is not the meatballs, and not the gooey cinnamon buns. It's the water taxi (I will admit that it was very nearly tied with the pair of gangsters playing with dog stuffed animals and making ridiculously accurate animal sounds). It's super convenient and totally fun. It's like getting a little water tour fo free. Without some annoying tour guide talking! I love Ikea. read more

CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON EXISTENT AT THE BROOKLYN STORE!!! If you like cheap meatballs and just want to buy a few things to take with you then you'll be ok. But if like most people in Manhattan who don't have a car and go to buy furniture for home delivery...avoid like the plague. I went into the store knowing exactly what I wanted to purchase and it took over two hours just to get the morons who man the Kiosks to take my order. To say there were rude would be an understatement. They spend their entire time talking and joking with each other and rolling their eyes at the customers. When I finally made it the cashier she had to re-enter then entire order because the Kiosk Morons didn't save the order properly. The cashier was nice to be fair but clearly not loving her job or enjoying being at the receiving end of everyone's anger at the end of their shopping experience. The guy in the line next to me, also buying several thousand dollars of merchandise, finally told his cashier to please pay attention to what she was doing because she was just taking her time and joking with the cashier on the other side of her. He blew up, cleared everything in the register and walked off. So I chimed in and stuck up for the guy and the people behind us in line practically cheered us on. So at the end my personal Kiosk Moron, who I had to kiss her ass just to get her help, checked stock she said the sofa frame was not in stock in Brooklyn so it would come from their Warehouse (NJ) where it was in stock and the rest of my order would come from Brooklyn which she said was also in stock. I arranged with home delivery for a consolidated shipment. So I was surprised that I got a call a couple days later that my order was coming Saturday. So I wait for my four hours window, the guys show up (they were nice and no problems there) and all they deliver is my sofa (no cover of course). He says its probably coming on a second truck direct from Brooklyn...so I wait...nada. So my useless sofa has been sitting in my living room for a week unassembled. It's been over a week and I have been unable to get through on the phone, no one has responded to emails. And when I try and track the order it just says order is not complete with no ETA or other info. I have guests coming to town. If I had known these things were not in stock I would have picked something else or bought elsewhere. Calling is just this terminal loop. Even when you do get someone on the line they don't listen and they just cut the call and pass the buck. So IKEA if you read this...please close this store or fire the management because your brand deserves better. When half the staff is this rude and incompetent then your management is failing you. You need to fire the whole bunch! My only wish is that Yelp had negative stars because at this point I feel like you are thieves. When you take peoples money there is an expectation of service or information until you deliver the product. SHAME ON YOU!!! Kevin read more
I feel really sorry for anyone that has to come to this store. In fact, I would rather shell out more money on other furniture, just to avoid this place. The products and store is fine: its an IKEA. If you've been to one, you've been to the rest. The thing that makes this place extra special is the check out to receive items or god forbid, you have a return. Either through design (placement of waiting chairs), incentive (I doubt there's any incentive to be expeditious), or lack of staff, you are guaranteed to wait 30 plus minutes for a checkout or 1 hour plus for a return - that's IF you make it there pronto when the store opens. There is one more aspect that I would not wish upon anyone that is worse than anything/everything: we were missing some parts, so we called IKEA corporate. IKEA corporate says they'll have this local store deliver the parts. It took 2 months.... read more
As my friend queried upon our latest journey out to Red Hook to the Big Blue Box, "even some of this IKEA stuff is expensive, so can you even imagine what REAL furniture costs...?!" I think that epitomizes the IKEA experience. While you may be left scratching your head over how a dining table and four chairs can fit into a 3.5 ft. x 4.5 ft. x 6 inch package, most of the time you at least are not deluding yourself into thinking it is "real furniture." That being said, IKEA furniture is nothing to sneeze at and not nearly as disposable as, say, the 4-times-washed-and-it-disintegrates Forever 21-type tops of the world. In fact, I have recently hit the five year anniversary for the following IKEA furniture, which successfully made the move (i) from Chicago to New York and (ii) from the UES to the West Village: 1) wood dining table and four chairs (only one casualty thus far -- leg on one of the chairs cracked, but I have a feeling that's because Mr. P. was "rock"ing back and forth in a semi-inappropriate motion at one of the A2ATOD game nights) 2) two "wood" coffee tables 3) two "wood" side tables 4) plastic space pod lamp 5) don't-know-but-think-it's wood easy chair thing Yes, I am gainfully employed. Yes, I am no longer a college student. And, yes, I can very well afford other furniture. BUT...(a) I'm Asian, so why spend money when I don't need to?, (b) my IKEA stuff is well preserved, so why add to my carbon footprint and purchase more things when these furnishings are more than serviceable?, and (c) um....honestly, I'd rather have a new purse than a new dining table. Seriously, who even uses a dining table nowadays? I know mine is a sewing machine desk/old magazines holder/Christmas gift storer/mail sorter at this point. Anyway, regardless of my ode to IKEA, I believe New Yorkers are overall better served now that they have this IKEA option within close distance. I recently bought a new rug and fashioned a harness using my reusable nylon grocery sack and the twine that they have out front to strap stuff to your car. Yes, I felt like MacGyver, but don't get me wrong -- that's a good thing. And on the way back, as you look at the sparkling, glittering New York skyline, you have to admit: The free ferry back to Pier 11 is probably the best poor-man's-cruise in the city. read more

DO NOT BUY AN IKEA KITCHEN! We bought a kitchen at the Brooklyn store on April 1; after been scheduled for delivery 5 different times, the kitchen has gone lost. Nobody knows where it is, have me waste DAYS at my construction site to wait for a scheduled delivery that never arrived. Leonardo - you rock! You get SIX stars. The rest of IKEA - you suck! You get nothing! Good day! So I just bought an apartment in Brooklyn, and need EVERYTHING. We had stuff, but a bedbug infestation and subsequent de-bedbuging caused us to throw everything out and need to start fresh. We needed a bunch of stuff for every room, and decided to get some IKEA furniture, because we liked the aesthetic and because we could design bookshelves the way we wanted (with glass doors and shelves). We spoke with Leonardo, who helped us tremendously on the sales floor. Patient, friendly, funny...he was our new best friend. We talked about the pick and deliver process, and how it would be really great for us, so we didn't have to wait on line downstairs and we wouldn't have to rent a van to get the stuff home. Several pieces of furniture, 4 hours, and $1500 later (between delivery items and stuff we bought downstairs), we signed up for delivery on the sales floor for Sunday, we ate swedish meatballs and cinnamon buns and got the heck out of there. Fast forward to Sunday, 10 minutes before our delivery window opens, we get a phone call. They don't have some of the pieces in stock, and they want to postpone the delivery until Monday or Tuesday. I said "Oh, so when are you going to deliver the stuff that's not in stock?" The woman on the phone was apologetic, but said that they do not deliver items that aren't in stock, and they would give me an IKEA gift card so I can go back to IKEA when they come in and pick them up. I said that a gift card wasn't appropriate since the items WERE in stock the day before when we arranged for delivery. What happened? "Well, we're an active warehouse and sometimes things sell out between the time of sale and the time of picking." I told them to cancel the order outright, and got a lot of hemming and hawing, oh, you can't cancel, the items are on the truck. I called customer service, and was essentially told not to use the pick and deliver service, that I should have picked up ALL of the boxes (17 of them weighing 280 kg), taken them through that horrible maze of cashiers, paid, then trucked them over to the home delivery desk and waited on another line. BUT WHY WHEN YOUR COMPANY TOLD ME TO PICK AND DELIVER???? And we paid $40 extra for the priveledge! Then the CSR told me that they would be sending me an IKEA gift card for the entire thing, since I was cancelling the order. ABSOLUTELY NOT. I paid for the items on my AmEx, so after I got off the phone with CS I called AmEx and disputed the charges. THEN I get a phone call back from the original person I spoke with (who told me the delivery was being postponed) and she said she would credit my Amex the full amount. This was great...but I HAVE NO FURNITURE! The problem is, I don't own a car. And we were buying so much furniture, it just made sense to have it all delivered. And IKEA was essentially forcing us to come back to the store and arrange to pay them 2 or 3 times to get all of our pieces delivered. My major problem is that this runs into a Groundhog Day-like vortex of 1) paying an additional $99 delivery fee for the items, and 2) potentially still not getting your entire order. I felt extorted and forced to pay additional fees for something that wasn't my fault. Since I really felt shafted and the pick and deliver service is being mis-advertised, we went to social media with it. All along, we got no apology, and only got a "sometimes this happens", without any kind of concessions for the complete timewaste this was. Long story short, after many many many emails, phone calls, and social media engagements with IKEA corporate, the Hicksville store stepped up (not feeling the love, Brooklyn store) and we got MOST of the items - 2 glass doors are out of stock and not coming in until August - and they waived our delivery fee. So I got my furniture, but why did it take such an effort to do so? Why is IKEA so customer-unfriendly? Why did it take such work to get a store to sell us furniture? read more

To start off, I do a decent amount of shopping at IKEA. The location is good, the boat ride nice, and food is pretty good and affordable. Most of my house, including my kitchen is furnished by IKEA. That being said, the returns and furniture pick up areas of this store give it a black eye. Chronically understaffed. Workers barely seen to be trying. It shouldn't take an hour to return something or pick something up! My other beef is that the cashiers are understaffed on the weekends, when the crowds are the worst. Multiple times I have left the store without buying something because when I get to the checkout line it is way too long. Not the best business practice! So there is my love hate relationship with the Brooklyn ikea. read more

Although IKEA had what I wanted at reasonable prices, and although delivery of futon and sofa were superb, the scheduled removal of old sofas was a disaster. There was not pick-up on scheduled day or times-slot. No communication from Ikea. Attempts to contact bybphonebforbinquirybwerr very difficult e.g. one-hour holding. When my call was finally answered, I was told that there had been a miscommunication and I would receive s call from the service. I never received a call. The old scotch was disassembled by my handyman and easily disposed. The large and heavy sofa was not an easy situation. Make sure your salesman gives you his direct number so you can contact him, if a problem. The customer service people are an outside business and are incompetent to handle complaints. 35 minutes. That is exactly how long it took me to drive to IKEA, from Jersey City to Red Hook. I left my parking space exactly at 4:30pm and I was parked in IKEA's lot at 5:05pm. And that's including taking the long way, via the Brooklyn Bridge, getting off at Cadman Plaza and driving straight on Henry Street, making a right on Sackett and making a left on Van Brunt. (oh snap, did this review just get auto-saved? Whoa!) I have been to both IKEA's in the jersey side but I have to say that this one was better than both of them. And, map-wise, it's actually closer to me than the ones in Elizabeth and in Paramus, believe it or not. When you walk in, there's a small escalator which, when you get to the top, whisks you into the world of cheap Swedish, DIY, though it will end up breaking in a year, furniture. But damn it, they all look good. I wasn't planning on buying anything at all, just wanted to walk around. And at 5:05pm on a Thursday afternoon, I picked the perfect time to do that. There was nobody in the joint. The employees are very friendly, who always smiled whenever I passed by one of them. And believe me, there were more than a few employees walking around. Plus, all of them would come to me and ask if I needed any help. While alot of people find that annoying, I actually find that it's very good customer service. Being in retail for years, I was taught to always acknowledge the customer. I was a little disappointed that I didn't see any Express lines, where you scan and pay it yourself. Maybe they were closed, or maybe they don't have any. But it didn't matter, since I still i walked out with a coffee table, a wok, and a bag of frozen Swedish meatballs. Oops. read more

Don't ever get your things delivered by this company. IT SUCKS!! Worst nightmare ever!!! IKEA Brooklyn you have the worst customer service I ever dealt with. It's been almost two months that I'm trying to get my stuff from your warehouse. The original shipment lost 3 boxes full of merchandise, then after 3 weeks! they sent the "remaining" stuff although a lot of items were missing and most of what I did receive was different from what I picked up originally at the store like the colors, models, etc. I'm extremely upset and you don't do anything to solve this issue. 2 MONTHS!!! waiting. UNBELIEVABLE!! It is impossible to speak to the store warehouse since nobody picks up the phone and the staff over there is sooooo undertrained and helpless. I spent 4 hours!! not 1, not 2, not 3... 4 HOURS inside the store doing a line to get my merchandise shipped. Are you kidding me?? you lost a valuable customer for good read more

I love IKEA, just not this one. To be fair, I loved it when it first opened, but this location has gone downhill bigtime. Employees have serious attitude and seem to be jousting for who can be most unhelpful while giving the appearance that they are doing their jobs. No one goes out of their way even the slightest to make a shoppers life easier. Horrible customer service. As I have a car, I find the location easy to get to and there is ample parking. The store is mostly clean, except if you go to the restaurant (reviewed separately) and then it's a mess - borderline unsanitary. Unfortunately this IKEA is the only game in town unless you want to go to NJ. Shop online if you can to avoid the unrewarding in-store experience. read more

An update on their return process: Quick, easy and efficient. One purchase that happened to be incorrect (the wrong color wood, or particle board, as it were) was swiftly removed from my bill and I was immediately handed cash back for that purchase, given that I'd paid with a debit card. The wait time was around 5-10 minutes and, although the cashier was a little gruff at first, she made the entire process really simple! read more
This Ikea is a solid one star kinda joint. Yet I keep coming back here. Yes I'm a bit masochistic... but you have to be to survive in here. Everything about it is terrible. The crowds, the long lines at checkout, the poor customer service, the maze-like layout that makes you feel trapped, the lack of cell reception inside... it's like a pressure cooker of human shopping frenzy. Just walking by it makes my blood boil. I went in here to get some blackout curtains... I knew exactly where I had to go. I darted for the area as fast as I could, got what I needed, and headed for the checkout line. An hour later, I was finally out. *sharp inhale* until next time I guess.... read more

On Saturday, May 24th, my wife and I ordered around $1500 worth of cabinets from Ikea. Because of the size of the order, we broke down and allowed them to deliver to us. We told the sales person that our building only allows deliveries between 9am and 3:30pm. He acknowledged this fact, told us that the first available delivery date was May 30th and noted on the order our delivery restriction. They took full payment for the order at that time, including delivery. On Thursday, May 29th, I received a call from the Urban Express automated system informing me that my delivery was confirmed for Friday, May 30th between 1pm and 5pm. I called Urban Express to try to fix the delivery window and was told after more than 30 minutes on hold to call Ikea. I called Ikea and again waited on hold for over half an hour, only to be told by Ikea that Urban Express would not change the window. I decided to take my chances in the hope that the driver would show up on the earlier side of the window. At 5pm on Friday, May 30th, I still had not heard from anyone at Urban Express, so I called again. I sat on hold for more than 30 minutes again and got a man named Darnell on the phone, who told me after a few minutes that the delivery guy was downstairs in my lobby. I got off the phone and went downstairs to discover that nobody was there waiting to make a delivery. I called back, waited on hold for another half hour and got the same person on the phone again. He claimed to only be relaying what the driver told him when he told me someone was downstairs and apologized for the inconvenience. He rescheduled my delivery for Monday between 9am and 1pm and told me that he made a note that mine should be one of, if not the first delivery of the day. At 7pm, after we had given up on the delivery and finally left the house for the first time that day, I got a call from someone claiming to be the delivery driver saying that they had my stuff and were trying to deliver it. The staff at my building told me that no one ever showed up to make the delivery. On Sunday, I received another call from the automated system that my delivery was confirmed for Monday, June 2nd between 1pm and 5pm, which is not what I was told on Friday. I called again to sit on hold, and the person who I got on the phone this time told me that the automated system must have made a mistake and that my deliver was still 9am to 1pm and that they would be arriving toward the beginning of the delivery window. At 11:30am today, I called again. After the now "normal" 30 minutes on hold, I got a woman named Devorah on the phone. I explained the situation. Devorah informed me that the driver was running late and they likely wouldn't arrive until 2:30 or 3pm. I explained my extreme displeasure to Devorah and she transferred me to her manager, Francis. At 11:54am, Francis told me that she needed to talk to her dispatcher and would call me back in 5-10 minutes. As of 2:30pm today, I have not heard anything back from Francis. At 1:15pm, the Urban Express driver finally showed up at my building. He and his partner literally dumped everything on my floor and told me to sign their paperwork. I refused to sign until I went through all of the boxes they dumped on my floor and confirmed that everything was present and accounted for. They told me that it didn't matter if everything wasn't there because I could just call Ikea and tell them about it later. They stood in the doorway of my apartment and watched me do this, never offering to help (and perhaps speed up the process). I discovered that several items were missing, despite the driver's insistence that they had delivered everything from my order. I told them to check the truck again. They went downstairs and came back a while later with an item that must have magically appeared in the truck. I described the other items that were missing and insisted that they check the truck again. They once again came back with another item that was somehow overlooked the first two times they were in the truck. At this point, they assured me that there was absolutely nothing left on the truck. I made a point of writing on their form that there were items missing from my order before signing it. I called Ikea (as suggested by Urban Express) to discuss the abbysmal delivery experience and the missing items. After over an hour on the phone (most of it on hold), I was finally told that they had made a note of my issue and would get back to me in the next 72 hours. Despite the miserable experience, that's the absolute best they seem able to do to get me what I've already paid them for and what should have been delivered days ago. They have not provided any information about when I might get the remaining pieces of my order, only that they'd look into it. I've now wasted two days waiting for this delivery and it's not even here in its entirety. IKEA AND URBAN EXPRESS FAIL!!! read more

So i went into the store on Saturday morning to purchase a lot of items for my new apartment. I set up delivery and went to go pay. Their credit card system was down. so they asked me to sign a slip for authorization and that someone will contact me in 3-5 business days to process the payment but that it wouldn't affect my delivery date and time. They called me Saturday night and i missed the call. I call them the next day and apparently my order was canceled and my time slot for delivery was taken by someone else. I ask to speak to a manager. He name was mike. ZERO HELP! I tell him I'm going to call customer service at corporate and log this with the BBB, FTC and Yelp. He says ok thank you have a nice day. I call natalie at customer service, 888-888-4532. She takes down my situation. I explain the new time slot doesn't work for me. She tells me that its not definite when they do schedule one anyway. She was great but i tell her that what she just told me is not covered in the IKEA Central Customer Delivery Terms and Conditions. She said "really?" and i said"yes I'm reading what i signed right now" Really Ikea? That is how you do business? Not cool. read more

Nothing wrong with experience at this store, I was able to place a large order here, and have it delivered directly from the warehouse and that is where things went to hell. I got all my items I bought, but one, and in the delivery invoice it did show one missing. No big deal, I'll just call them to get it resolved. Call customer service, was told they will need to investigate and get back to me within 3 days. Never got a call, instead call again to get a refund, and rep blame shipping company for losing my item even though on the invoice it clearly show item missing, IKEA warehouse screwed up, but agree to give me a refund and told it would take 7-10 days. I waited 2 weeks, call again this rep, told me they are still investigating, I told them this run around was total BS and I would like the refund process today, told me nothing they can do, and I'll have to speak to someone at this store, than I told them to escalate to corporate. They refused. This is the most absurd business practice I've ever seen, they just give you the run around and pass the buck. So I had to file a dispute with the credit card company, and funny thing is that the IKEA rep was fine with me filing the dispute, they must have to deal with these issue all the time, and the credit card rep seem to have plenty of experience dealing with IKEA. All and all, the best and smoothest transaction was filing that dispute, took less than 5 mins. read more

I wait there for an hour My mood turning sour unacceptable, don't you agree? I consider myself a reasonable reviewer... I mean, I understand that I'm going to a discount flat-pack DIY furniture retailer who probably pays its employees in high-fives, and 1 star may seem harsh in that "I'm getting what I pay for." However, this store's standards have fallen into oblivion and customer service is a nightmare. If you even consider it possible that you may have purchased something broken, or missing parts, or something you don't actually need or like, you are better off not coming to this IKEA. Do not be swayed by the hipster romantic comedies. This is not a store for you. If you need customer service in any way, you will be thrust into a Sisyphean hell. I have spent hours trying to return items that are broken; all responses to me were rude and unhelpful. This store is for meatballs, cheap pillows and irony. If you expect more, you will be in tears. read more

I have always been a huge fan of IKEA stores especially the Broadway Mall location - the items are easy to assemble, the prices are always great, and the staff are helpful, except on my last visit. I took my daughters on Saturday afternoon to pick up a few kitchen items, so we went directly to the warehouse area. The store was crowded, as it usually is on Saturday afternoon. Still, for some reason, in every aisle, we went to, there was an IKEA staff person either standing around or pretending to reposition the items on the shelf, but at no point did anyone ask us if we needed help. Okay... I let that go! But then we got to the self-checkout area, and two sales associates were standing by our register, and no one else's, and then we were "randomly selected" for a bag check... ... I had to address it. I also waited around to see how many other people who looked my me were "randomly selected" for a bag check -let's just say it isn't so random! read more

Wooowww! I have never dealt with so many incompetent and rude customer service people in the same establishment. From dealing with their horrible customer service on their general U.S. line all the way to the representatives at this Brooklyn store. I'm in the process of purchasing a kitchen and we decided to go with an IKEA kitchen because of the current sale going on which beats many other prices, along with the long term warranty. Buying a kitchen means spending a lot of money, so I expect top notch customer service for all the money being spent. The online kitchen planner is a piece of s**t software and has broken down on me numerous times and no one in customer service or IT can help fix it. Thank god for the only decent employee at IKEA - Cassandra. She helped me over the phone and at the store and provided us valuable information. If it wasn't for her, I don't know how we would've been able to move forward with the kitchen. Fast forward a week after she truly helped us, and now I'm trying to reserve the measuring service, but the kitchen rep's at the store have absolutely no knowledge of anything and are extremely rude and lazy. I hope they are getting paid only $2/hour because that is clearly what they are worth. How does IKEA management feel so comfortable hiring people like this and put all the service and trust in their hands when customers like me is planning to spend thousands of dollars on a new kitchen? I'm in PR and write my own blog, so believe it when I plan to write a story on this and warn people to stay away from IKEA and their kitchens. I truly hope the one person I can count on, Cassandra, will be able to help me through the rest of the process. Otherwise I'm done with IKEA..forever!! read more

The Brooklyn IKEA store has sunk into chaos. Stock is low and randomly placed. Shelves are very messy. There are almost NO associates on the floor. Have a question, go to the ONE customer service kiosk and get in a very long line. Otherwise, try to help yourself through your phone, which can tell you if your item is in stock and where to find it. Only, even if it's in stock, it might not be on a shelf. I circled Market Place 3 times, and when I finally found someone who worked there, he apologized and said that it's probably in back, but he just could not go and look for it. I understood. Seriously. He was the sole person helping thousands of customers. But it also meant I had to leave without what I came there for, after driving an hour and paying tolls to get there. I hope IKEA gets back to its original standard of care! read more

I'm revisiting this review from a few months ago... When it's 9PM and you're just getting out of the Ikea... residents of Red Hook who go there on a nightly basis just for fun will criticize you if you look angry about having to wait for the "bum's rush". Well, here is my response to that: We all know about Ikea and its brilliant knack for allowing people to furnish pretty much any kind of living space. For this, I've got about 4 1/2 stars up. But then, the stars start to go down for a great many reasons... First of all, just a warning to people: if you live pretty much anywhere in Manhattan and are trying to have a successful trip out to an iKEA to get everything you need, you would probably be better off just getting a van and driving out to Paramus. The transportation to this Red Hook outlet is intense and complicated, and you are going to get criticized and mocked for 1 hour in the subway on your way back if you carry an Ikea bag. AND... you'll have to pay $100 for delivery for the stuff you couldn't carry. That's the same price as... a moving van!! and then some. My solution for future reference: rent the van. ...but as far as ratings go, I'm gonna knock this place down even further because" If you want to take a break from your shopping and go eat in the cafeteria: The staff will criticize you for your food choices, and curse you under their breath for having enough money to be shopping and eating there. You see, you're not as slick as they are, because they know the guy at the hand me down furniture store personally, and they're in the union. So they're gonna spit out a bunch of classic blue collar hates white collar condemnation at you. And you're like... "dude, yes you ARE the slick one for having to work somewhere that attracts customers that you hate for reasons that neither you nor they would have any inclination to change." ...Anyways, just get ready to go through the 4 corners of hell to make probably one of your most important shopping trips, if you want to do it in NYC proper. If you hear my cries from the pit, you are probably not too late. read more
Fuck the haters. I went on opening day. Red Hook is definitely changing. I now own thirty-three picture frames to decorate my lovely Brooklyn space and you know how much it cost me? Not a damn thing, thanks to the awesome $100 gift certificate I got. Hoorah, first 2500. And did they mention they have daily fifteen-minute shuttles from three different neighborhoods? Catch them at Park Slope at 4th Ave - 9th Street, Downtown at Court St - Borough Hall, or Gowanus at Smith and 9th Street. I came to this Ikea for the first time today and it was alright. The traffic wasn't too bad. I highly suggest coming here on the weekdays before noon. The parking lot is huge as hell and the showroom is huge too. There was one thing I didn't like about today's experience. My cousin and I were shopping around the cups and plates area so we left our cart on the side. When we came back to our cart, someone jacked our cart and took all of our shit out and left it on top of a display of forks, knives, and spoons! We were lookin all over the place for our shopping cart. I still can't believe some asshole would do something like that. NO CLASS! Follow me on twitter. http://twitter.com/garygorlomi read more

I absolutely love IKEA; however, this location is the worst!! Staff, if you can find them, simply DO NOT CARE. I had one member of staff simply walk away and ignore me in the middle of asking a question. I searched for 20 minutes for another member of staff to help me find something and they said: "you're the fifth person to ask for help today, sadly no one is answering the phone in that department... they're so lazy. I wish I could help." After becoming frustrated with Times Square dense congestion of clueless customers wandering like zombies, bumping into each other (and me), we simply had enough of this terrible shopping experience and headed to the checkout with the seven items we had selected. Fewer than half the checkouts were open and there seemed to be no movement of the customers in any of the checkout lines -- all of which were 20+ customers deep, snaking back into the middle of the warehouse section. We desperately looked for a "10 items or fewer" lane and found a "3 items of fewer" lane, which was backed up even further with persons who had completely full shopping carts. We abandoned our shopping basket and sought out customer service. We managed to speak to two customer service agents, neither whom would look us in the eye and pretty much said the same thing -- we simply do not have enough staff to man all the checkouts, both refusing to address the persons in the "express lanes" with more than three items nor the lack of any employees whatsoever in the housewares, kitchen, bedding and bath departments. I left the store, purchasing nothing. I will order online rather than going to the Brooklyn IKEA ever again. This store is a truly bad representation of the brand and needs to be CLOSED or REHABILITATED BY CORPORATE. read more
Best days to go are the weekdays. HUGE private parking lot Staff wasn't too helpful nor enthusiastic, actually felt like any customer was a drag. Near the water so the scenery is nice. The location itself is nice, it's just the micro aspects (security, employees, etc.,) that are bringing this place down. Not much to review. Average at best. read more

Spent wasted) 2-1/2 hours in ikea in Brooklyn today. We were looking for a home office desk chair At every turn it became obvious that customer service was simply a non entity. One cchair we chose turned out to be sold out but we could not learn this until we took a photo of the tag on the chair and walked it over to stand in line to see an employee in a booth who looked up the item. We were told it will be available probably on January. We finally settled on choosing another chair which had st least 5 samples on the selling floor. Back to the employee booth several rooms away. We were told we "got the last one"....so take paperwork downstairs to another line to pay and then to a 3rd line to await an employee bringing out item to us. Except employee finally came out to say chair was no longer available. Our receipt had meanwhile assured us the item we paid for woul be held to the end of thhe day. With no apologies given, There was now yet another line to await a refund. Does this retailer maybe even have a clue how customer service is real for their business? read more

This is mainly a review for the home delivery which I am very disappointed in. I ordered home delivery from the store back on 8/3/2016 and was told the earliest they would be able to deliver it would be Sunday, 8/7/2016 which is the delivery date I chose. The day of, the items arrived towards the very end of the 4 hour delivery window and the movers made me sign off the packages before I had a chance to check over and make sure I received all of my items. As soon as they left, surprise surprise, I realized that they were missing one of my items. I promptly called the Ikea Customer Service and had to report a lost item. The person I spoke to told me the item will be sent out as soon as possible (the latest being 8/9/2016 and I should receive it by the end of the week). That day came and went with no notice from Ikea. They even sent a customer service survey and when I tried to fill it out it didn't even work?? A tracking information finally came two days afterwards just saying that the item had been packaged up but no notice as to when it will be picked up by Fedex; however there was a delivery date of 8/15/2016. Today (8/15) when I checked online, there was still no sign that it had been shipped out yet. I called Fedex and they told me they had not received the package yet. I tried calling Ikea and once again had to be put on a 40 minute wait before I could talk to anyone (Their phone menu takes ages to get through). After waiting for the rep to contact the Brooklyn store for another 20 ish minutes he told me the package was still sitting in the store waiting to be picked up. Which basically means it had been sitting there since around Tuesday (a week) waiting to be picked up and delivered. When I asked it I could return it the customer service rep told me it would be very difficult because everything was already packaged and shipping information had been created already so they treat it like it is sent out even though it wasn't. I find this to be absolutely ridiculous. If you have the ability to just pick up and drive the items home yourself definitely do that and don't rely on home delivery just to make sure nothing like this can happen to you. They actually have a nice showroom and items available but this home delivery fiasco is very annoying and I just either want my nightstand or my money back but right now I can't seem to get either... read more
You know how they say that Ikea is the test of a good relationship? No? Well, it is. Bringing your significant other out to the end of Red Hook to shop for cheap Scandinavian furniture tests any good relationship I know. But, I prefer to approach Ikea more like a choose your own adventure book (remember those?). Each choice brings a different emotion and outcome. Decision #1: Transportation 1. The Ikea Shuttle bus - It makes you feel a little like you're on a school field trip. You have to figure out when it's running, and when it's not. And, you have to wait with other confused and forlorn Ikea shoppers for the shuttle to arrive, not quite when it says it will. But, you'll arrive in one piece. 2. The B61 - Kind of like the Ikea Shuttle, but not free, and less direct. But, you can check out all the fun ikea sites on the way. You'll get there with a sense of accomplishment for mastering another MTA bus line. 3. Car - Probably the least stress free, and most direct method of transit. But, drive with caution, that Ikea parking lot is a crazy-ass obstacle course - especially look out for carts on the roll, bad, rude drivers and kids running through the aisles. Once you park you'll be a victor! So, enjoy. 4. Ferry - only if you're coming from Manhattan. Someday I'd like to go into Manhattan just to take the ferry to Ikea, cause then I'd be on a boat! Decision #2: To peruse the model rooms, or not to peruse. 1. To Peruse - Well, perusing affords you the opportunity to not only see the furniture all put together, but some pretty fantastic people watching. There are all kinds at ikea, and they are all having funny conversations about hard-to-pronounce furniture, or what that furniture means to their relationships. So, it's a pretty fantastic free soap opera. 2. Not to Peruse - If you're coming to Ikea for something specific, just go straight to the market, pick it up and get the hell out of there. Less stress, less people. And, more time at home to figure out how to put your purchase together. Decision #3: Food There are countless things to eat - I'm partial to the frozen yogurt, chocolate bars by every register and the cinnamon rolls. But, there's something for everyone. Meatballs? Pasta? Fish? Lingonberries!? You name it, and they like it in Sweden, and you'll probably find it. I have things I love from Ikea, and things I don't. But, really there's no where better for clean-lined, cheap, modern furniture for your apartment, and some fun graphics, too. Much like travel, if you're not sure of the relationship you're in, bring your significant other here - a challenging choose-your-own-adventure is a good way to find out if the person you're with should be there to stay. And, if not, you can choose your way out of it. read more
SHUTTLE: Ikea-Brooklyn provides a free shuttle to its store. It's a great service, but the shuttle itself seemed like it was going to fall apart. CUSTOMER SERVICE All I can say is Wow! But not, Wow as in "Wow it's good," but "Wow, it's so awful that words can not express how awful you will feel dealing with the employees here." Nearly every employee I encountered had an attitude or acted like he/she didn't want to be there. Asking someone for help was a big no-no because they were just going to throw shade at you. CAFETERIA The food tasted good and was cheap, but again, the staff was so angry with each other and with the customers that it was a terrible experience. STORE This store looked like its employees didn't care to organize anything or clean it, and there were large areas that were unstocked. OVERALL Let's be honest here. Ikea's stuff is stylish and cheap, so no matter how awful this store is run, you'll still be trekking here for a bookshelf and some frames. read more

May 8th, 2013: 48 hours later... no call from Ikea, no confirmation of the delivery of my second items. This time I had my brother call, because as sad as it is, sometimes people respond better to men than they do female customers. My brother talks to a representative who assures him a second order has been placed and that our missing items would be delivered on Monday the 13th, he even gives him a new order number. I called customer service myself on the 8th, wanting a refund for the "Picking Service," because if I had picked out MY OWN ITEMS, I would not have been missing 5 items and nothing would be damaged. I get transferred to a voicemail instead of a person, and was promised another call in 24 hours. Pissed off about being forwarded to a voicemail, I called back demanding to talk to a human being. I was given ANOTHER case number and promised a call within NOW 48-72 hours regarding my refund. At this point I filed a formal complaint against the Ikea of Brooklyn and it's improperly trained staff. May 9th-12th, 2013: No calls from Ikea regarding my refund, so I decided to wait until the missing items came and would pursue the refund from there. I call the delivery company that works through Ikea to get the delivery window of my missing items. Guess what? They have no record of my order, because the improperly trained customer service representative who placed the order did it incorrectly. At this point I had had absolutely enough with Ikea and immediately called their customer service center and freaked out until I was transferred to an ACTUAL supervisor. He apologized profusely after I recounted my ordeal and assured me everything would be resolved by the end of the call. He told me that my missing items would be FedEx'ed in 2-5 business days. I found this quite funny because this is the Ikea of Brooklyn basically admitting that their delivery service is incompetent so they are assuring my delivery with Fed Ex. He also promised my delivery and picking fee, a total of $139.00 would be refunded. Fingers crossed they remain true to these promises, but I am honestly not confident. The customer service supervisor told me to call back on the 13th for the tracking number for the Fed Ex package. May 14th, 2013: I called into Ikea's contact center to find out the tracking number for my package, and guess what? The items I am missing are apparently not in stock in the Brooklyn store, and will not be in stock until Thursday. Additionally, the case that Marshall, the customer service supervisor completed, did not note that the items were to be Fed Ex'ed, so I have no idea if Ikea of Brooklyn will follow through with this or not. I asked yet another customer service agent how I can get in touch with Ikea of Brooklyn to see how my refund will be handled, and guess what? THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN ACTUALLY CONTACT AN IKEA STORE WITHOUT GOING IN PERSON. That's right, any of your customer service issues get sent to a call center, and all they can do is promise fixes to the mistakes Ikea of Brooklyn has been making... So basically, customers are S.O.O.L. when it comes to dealing with an Ikea discrepancy, unless you go to the store and wait in line to talk to a representative in person. I live an hour away using public transportation from the Brooklyn store, so this has never been a feasible option. And the waiting game continues to see if Ikea of Brooklyn will actually follow through, or if the "solutions" customer service assured me were happening, were just more empty promises. May 14th, 2013 Part Two: I call back Ikea's customer service center because my brother and I have decided to go get the items when they are in stock on Thursday because we are in the middle of moving and it's not worth it to wait for packages that may never arrive. I ask the customer service representative to put me in touch with someone at the Ikea of Brooklyn so I can communicate directly with the store that we will be picking up the items we already paid for two weeks ago, in person. Guess what? The customer service representative, cannot even get a hold of anyone at the Ikea of Brooklyn. He has tried 3+ extensions of employees working at this store to no avail. He made the mistake of asking me why I needed to get in touch with the store in the first place, which is a ridiculous question that proves they don't read their customer service case notes anyways. After I spent 5 minutes recounting my entire experience YET AGAIN, he quickly replied that he would continue to try extensions to get in touch with someone at the store. I'm on the phone with this customer service agent now, who is having as much problems as I am getting in touch with someone at the Ikea of Brooklyn. I guess this is how Ikea functions as a company, they have a distant call center that promises solutions, but when it comes down to actually fulfilling these solutions they aren't even able to get in touch with their own stores. Why You Should NEVER Pay for Ikea's Picking Service or Shop There EVER... ESPECIALLY IN BROOKLYN. May 1th, 2013: My brother and I went to the Ikea of Brooklyn with a list of products we had selected online with the intention of paying for their picking service. After we looked at the items in person and decided on what we wanted to buy, we began the search for an employee to help us. It was a literal struggle. The first person we asked said they, "Did not know how to do the picking service." Even though they were at the kiosk where the person who does the picking service is supposed to stand. Alright, no problem, we would find another employee. So, we did, and guess what? HE didn't know how to do the picking service either. So he brings us to someone else, who knew how to do the picking service. But it isn't anything like their commercial and website advertise. I had to read out my list of items and wait there while he selected them all in the computer. At this point I didn't care, I just wanted to see that my items were selected, pay for them, and get out of there. After bringing my receipt to the cash registers to pay and set up home delivery, I thought that it was a pretty easy process and was happy besides for the hold ups with untrained employees. I was not prepared for the hellish experience that ensued after I left Ikea Brooklyn. May 5th, 2013: I was told by Ikea of Brooklyn Home Delivery Services that the delivery company would call me to let me know my delivery window. At around 3pm I called the delivery company to see what was up, expecting to have received the delivery window by now. The first customer service representative was extremely rude and told me I would not be given a time until 9pm, or the next morning. I told her I could not wait for such a last minute phone call, to which she basically said, "tough luck." I call back and speak to another, much more helpful representative, who tells me to call back at 5pm because they would know my delivery window by then. He also promised I would receive a call 30 minutes before my delivery since it was going to a vacant apartment. I call back at 5pm and get connected to the original rude representative, she again tells me she has no time frame to give me, which I retort telling her that I was told my delivery window would be assigned by 5pm. She puts me on hold with no explanation, comes back on the line and says it is in between 10:00 and 12:00pm, funny because she didn't know seconds before. May 6th, 2013: The next day I am waiting for my call 30 minutes prior to my delivery. Guess what? They obviously don't call until they are outside my vacant apartment. So I hurry over to let them in, and the two "delivery guys," who looked more like un-uniformed criminals, yelled at me for not being at my apartment. When I said I was supposed to be called 30 minutes prior, they said that they didn't have to call me because I knew my delivery window. I let them in my apartment, and have to hold the door open because they did not have enough door-stoppers. I happily do so because I am just happy to get my items. They hastily and sloppily throw all my packages against a wall in my living room, and before I had time to asses the packages make me sign a piece of paper. I now know I signed a delivery confirmation, which they did not give me time to read and the document itself was also ripped, so I had no idea this was the confirmation that I received all my packages. As a customer right, I was supposed to be given time to look over all my packages, but before I could even thank the delivery team they had left and drove off. I examine my packages, the bed sides to my white bed were blemished and tarnished, but this was the least of my problems. I open a box, which looked like it had been opened and retaped and tampered with, to find 5 items, over $200 in merchandise were missing. Interestingly enough, the tracking stickers that were supposed to be on my missing products were in the bottom of the box, obviously not attached to anything. I immediately call Ikea and fill out a case report saying what I am missing. I was told I would be contacted in 24 hours to plan the delivery of my missing items. Continued in review #2 read more

Uggghhhh..what a horrific experience. I haven't been to IKEA in about 2 years and needed a new closet unit. I went there Sunday afternoon (I know, big mistake) and was there for about 30 minutes crawling over people to get a sneak peak at the furniture. It got to the point so much overwhelm that I asked an employee the best time to come when no crowds are there. She said Tues. or Wed. so I went there Tuesday after work. Sure, no crowds at all and ordered my closet unit from the woman in the PAX area. She was typical NYC style - not rude but not nice. So, I ended up buying the closet and then had to stand in line for the delivery/assembly line area. Gee whiz...another nightmare. There were about 10 of us in line with only 1 lady working the delivery orders....but there were at least 10 IKEA employees just standing there talking and doing nothing. I asked one of the managers if there was someone who could help with the delivery orders and was told "sorry, everyone who works there is on break." Ok, I get breaks but there were SO many employees literally doing NOTHING while 10 customers stood in this long line b/c only one person was taking delivery orders. It was beyond ridiculous. After standing in the delivery line for 20 minutes while playing Candy Crush and texting friends it came my turn to the front of the line. The delivery order person was really helpful but she was helping the other people who didn't know how to set up deliveries. She told me she spends most of her day correcting everyone else's orders because they mess up so much. I'm glad I got her to take down my delivery order. I scheduled the delivery on Sunday but then when I got back to my apartment I realized my building doesn't take delivery orders on Sunday so then another IKEA drama begins. I thought, let's call the delivery company - they answered on the first ring! YAY! But no, they can't change in-store deliveries (just online and phone orders). Ok, I thought...I'll call the 800# and did so. Talk about a nightmare trying to get a hold of a REAL person. Finally I spoke to one lady - not sure where she was at - after being on hold for 54 minutes - told her my story that I needed to change the delivery day and can't get anyone at the Brooklyn Store b/c they transferred me around and finally someone picked up and just hung the phone up. Seriously? When this store in BK opened a few years ago I was super excited and actually enjoyed going there. Boy, times have changed and I will absolutely NEVER go to IKEA again after this nightmare. I only purchased one PAX closet unit and spent over 8 hours with the entire process - at the store, on the phone, etc. Not my idea of fun. I hope someone at IKEA headquarters starts evaluating this store b/c it's just plain awful now. It's a total mess and needs to get up to speed with technology. Speaking of which, they have these kiosks where you can look up items - if you can get them to work. They need to update these with just a tablet - they are using some cheap hybrid keyboard and touch screen. I asked an employee to help me with that and he couldn't even figure it out. He told me he had been working there for over a year so it wasn't a case of new employee. I'm not one to write reviews unless I see something very concerning and in this case buyer beware of long lines, poor service and long wait times on the phone if you have an issue. I wish it wasn't so but it is....at least for me. read more

The worst delivery service there is. I do not take them time to give reviews, but after this horrible service. I must let everyone know how bad the service is and to avoid them at. They will not honor their delivery times or even try to help you fix the situation. I will also be writing to ikea to let them know how bad this company is. I still do not know why they are in business and why ikea still choose to use them. I got a call July 6 for a date for delivery. I went to speak to a live rep because the delivery days were on a weekday and I work on those days. She told me that I can do July 8th and I will get a call on July 7th to pick a time. I called to confirm this at 11am on July 7th. I asked when is my delivery date, she tells me July 8th. I did not tell her what I thought it was , she told me it was the 8th. I then asked her, I didn't get a time schedule call, she tells me it's not finalize and I will get a call later. I call at 6 pm because I still didn't get a call yet. The guy tells me I do not have a delivery for the 8th and its scheduled for the 12th. All he said was no record or note in the system that even mention the 8th for delivery. After back and forth stating how I confirmed twice the date. He asked if I called ikea to confirm or them. I told them that I called them twcie and each time they confirmed it was for the 8th. He goes back to get his supervisor, Nelson, which all he said was sorry, there's nothing I can do. Everything is set and basically too bad. I told him that I do not have time on weekdays and I scheduled it on Sunday and confirmed twice because that was the only free day I have. He tells me there is nothing he can do. He said I can deliver it on July 9th. I tell him I have to take a day off work for Monday July 9th. And I better get the delivery. He tells me he will do it in the system now and I WILL get a call on the 8th to schedule a time. It's now the 8th, no phone call, no response calling them. Stalling me again. I took off work for Monday and now i am certain they will deliver it on the 12th the day they told me they will. I told them to go into their system and check the conversations, they tell me there are no logs and they will not check them. There is no note of me calling. Bottom line, if you want it delivered on time DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Go pick it up your self at Ike's or rent a truck. This company will waste your time, give empty promises and in the end delivery at their convience. I hope Ikea does something about this company and stop using them. If I didn't need the furniture I would have told them to cancel it and return it. Worst company in the world. Two days of work I will have to miss to deal with this company. if you can not handle the work load stop over booking and taking the jobs on and then screwing the customers. If i didnt have to work, i would have just picked it up from ikea myself and had it two weeks ago. if UE is reading, go back to your call logging system and tell me you did not confirm twice my date was for the 8th. I will make sure everyone i know or who speaks about home delivery to not use them. read more

We have been talking about renovating our kitchen for some time now. After looking at all the options and being rather handy, We decided to go with the self assembly kichen from IKEA, We liked the look of the finished kitchens so much we decided to purchase the bathroom there as well, Including all the IKEA appliances our order was over 7,000 Dollars. They offer delivery so we opted to pay the additional fee for delivery. It was to arrive Friday a week from purchase. IKEA failed to inform the delivery company so the kitchen arrived on Monday instead. Back to IKEA we go as the first proble arrives. (right Bathroom vanity box, but not the correct product inside), Take a number and someone rude will be with you in a few hours. (We didn't realize the return volume when we were ordering) so we getback and start again, problem 2 (used cabinet with holes drilled in it and missing pieces) Back to IKEA, take a number and someone rude will be with you in a few hours. (Now this could be worse , there were people from upstate that were on there 4th return) We start our kitchen again OOPS wrong color cabinet, (back to IKE, take a number someone rude who sucks their teeth at you will be with you in a few hours.) So we opted to skip this cabinet because they don't have the right color in stock, and we have been without a kitchen for 3 weeks. Back to the kitchen work, one side done but one drawer front, oops wrong color. (all kitchen doors must be shipped they told us originaly, So we called, the girl asks the same question 3 times, Then sarcasticly says "let me make this easy for YOU, What items did you PAY for?) Almost breathing fire at this point , We PAID 7000 dollars to be treated like crap from 90 % of your employees, We payed for a drawer fron that is not in the shipment and we have a drawer front that is not listed on the invoice. How much clearer can I make it for YOU? We will ship that out to you in 3 business days....Great. So, we start the other side, find out we are missing the hardware to hang the cabinets, Back to IKEA, (Now we live in Manhattan and IKEA is in Brooklyn, So crowded streets tunnel, snow, tolls, this is NOT fun.) Take a number and someone rude will be with you in a few hours. After they finally call #328 we get to the desk she says, Oh, We don't have those in stock so they will need to be delivered to you in 3 days. At that point I asked for then to send the truck to pick up the 7000 dollar kitchen because I was done. She magically appeared with the bag of hardware. and the correct drawer front, I would imagine I will still need to go back becase I am only half way done. The sales people give you attitude , the service team gives you attitude, the warehouse sends crappy used products, and I will never buy anything from there that I cannot open the box before I leave the store. read more

Sorry Brooklyn, this isn't about you but the IKEA website. Since I can't get help, I'm writing this bad review in hopes someone in corporate will fix the issue. I no longer live in a state that has a physical store and now have to order online. I have been trying for over a month to place an order and more than10 hours of my time dealing with this. I have been attempting to make a purchase though the IKEA website since 5/24/25 and have been unsuccessful. After multiple attempts, speaking with customer service and placing the order over the phone and even asking to speak with tech support. No one has been able to help me. It has become apparent to me that IKEA does not want my business. The issue: after selecting the items I want and going to check out, entering my IKEA gift card and then entering my credit card for the remaining balance, it reads, "Please try again or use another payment method." Each time I attempted to make the purchase and was unsuccessful, I would have to wait until the next day for the amount to be returned to my gift card. I was told by support to try the following: * Try a different credit card. I have tried three different credit cards, and each time I got the same error message. * Tried completing the purchase without using the gift card and it still didn't work. * Try clearing the cookies and cache of your browser. Did this. Didn't help. * Try using a different browser. I normally use Google Chrome, one of the most popular browsers in use. I tried MS Edge. Still didn't work. * Contact your credit card company and see if they've put a hold on the order. I did, and they didn't. (In fact one of the cards I was using has a $200 credit.) * Try another form of payment like PayPal or ApplePay. I do not use them and do not wish to. At one point I was even told that maybe the items I'm purchasing aren't available. If that's the case, why isn't it stated on the website. And, why did the order go through, only to get the error message? I even asked customer service to check to see if my address is correct, because at one point, the site populated my address with the wrong state, not once, but twice. I even tried creating a new IKEA account and attempted to make the same purchase, but using a third credit card and I'm getting the same message - Please try again or use another payment method. Apparently, IKEA does not want my business, which is a shame since I recently moved into a new home and making lots of purchases. Your customer service and tech support are inept. Whosever in charge of technology should be fired. They're causing the company to lose business. I have asked they refund me the money still on the gift card since IKEA is not honoring it. DO NOT SHOP IKEA ONLINE. read more

Sunday November 10 2013 Brooklyn IKEA - Avoid this store - I live in Staten Island and figured it is easier for me to go to Brooklyn rather than Elizabeth NJ - While the miles may be less the quality of service is vast - This was one of the most incompetently run big stores I have ever dealt with - 1. I went there to return an item 2. It took 2 - 1/2 hours to do so - 3. At times at the return desk there were no people 4. At other times - There were people and I mean at least six who were just standing around talking to each other and making personal cell phone calls - 5. At any given time only one counter was taking stuff in - 6. No supervisor or manager present or running things - When asked where was a manager - The answer was he just went home sick - 7. One person in the middle of all this with a line of customers waiting to return stuff - decided that it was time for her break and with a loud pronouncement - stated so and just walked off the line leaving for a least 8 minutes NO ONE running the counter - 8. Is it that IKEA is now so big that they can now treat customers with indifference and out right rudeness - and expect us to just take it ? 9. This is strictly and fundamentally a management problem - If management lets this go on then they don't give a @!# about the customer and are just there to glean a profit - 10. The personnel are very rude and indifferent to the customer - 11. This seems to be just a Brooklyn IKEA phenomenon - I have been to other IKEAs in Elizabeth NJ, Seattle, Pennsylvania and I have never run into such poor customer care or poor quality of service - 12 The whole staff should be fired and replaced with properly trained personnel 13. Want more - 14. After the harrowing ordeal of the 2 1/2 hour wait to return something - I actually went shopping for some items - 15. Deja Vue - The checkout line was out the door - Yes a lot of customers but the real reason was the totally incompetent checkout clerks - One line - A clerk was talking to the next clerk about some personal matters while both lines were hung up waiting for them to finish their personal conversation - 16. On another line - The line was being held up because the clerk was making a personal cell call with a resulting 3 minute (actually timed) conversation while the customers were being ignored - 17. Fire them all - Fire the management - and replace with trained personel - 18. Brooklyn IKEA don't assume just because you are there and you think you are the only show in town that this will be tolerated for very long - It won't - Enough pressure and you will change or you will perish - read more

I like Ikea. But I don't like the experience at this store, at all. For 2 in the afternoon, you wouldn't think it would have been inundated, much less with strange homeless men eating pretend food at a children's table in some creepily cute set-up, but also with millions of people pushing big-ass strollers with kids in them that are far to big to warrant a car seat, let alone a stroller. Other than the normal Brooklynite annoyances that happen everywhere, I think the biggest problem was the staff. They are just underprepared, understaffed and undertrained. I asked about a warranty on some slats and the kid gave me a blank stare and stated "I don't know" and walked away, instead of telling me he would ask someone else, like he should have. The fun didn't stop there though. We get to the registers and some asshole looks right at me and slips his cart in front of me, with a whopping 2 curtains and 1 curtain rod in it. After that 35 minute debacle trying to pay, we go to get the home delivery, and I'll spare you the gruesome details but let's just say it took an hour and a half to leave. (in the mean time I went to grab the boyfriend a hot dog and a little girl walked right up to the counter and took my order away! upon curiously watching her I realized her mother sent her to the counter to "grab" stuff from unsuspecting cashiers. It worked because when I asked where my hot dog was the girl said, "wasn't that your child that took it?" You probably think I am making this shit up...) They had one girl working back there. ONE. The poor thing. This old woman was screeching about how terrible it was she had to wait so long with a "little baby" (he was 7-9 years old) and several others were moaning incoherently. It's severely unorganized- I suggest renting a van for about 25$ instead of paying 80$ to gouge your eyes out at the home delivery lines. I really recommend it also based on the fact it's 11 pm and his stuff didn't get delivered in the 6-10 pm time frame tonight. Worthless. I really likes the Ikea shopping experience until I had to deal with the shitstorm at this store today. Even if we weren't trying to send that bed stuff, just ringing out was irritating enough. If you go, go REALLY early and preshop online, otherwise you are in for an all day, severely emotionally exhausting field trip straight out of your worst nightmares. read more

After 15 minutes of waiting on hold for the customer service agent, he forwarded me to an extension at the Ikea of Brooklyn. There was obviously no answer, and to make things better, the line he forwarded me to did not accept voice mails, as if Ikea of Brooklyn would have responded to it anyways. Another dead end, and I am still missing over $200 in products and I paid for and have not been refunded the $139 for my delivery and picking fees. I have now spent the last 2 hours trying to get in touch with someone at Ikea of Brooklyn. I get put on the phone with someone in home delivery who was so rude to me I am actually in tears. He is completely going against everything I was promised by their customer service center, saying that I won't be refunded for my picking fee, but promising to "refund me the $40 in some other way." He said he cannot resolve any of my issues until I come to the store, so now it looks like I will have to pay for transportation for the third time to their store. Conclusion: DO NOT PAY FOR ANY OF IKEA'S PICKING OR DELIVERY SERVICES. If you must shop there, which you shouldn't because their products are quite mediocre in quality, go to the store, select the items yourself, and bring them home yourself. They do not care for the products you purchase and request delivered. On May 11th, 2013, I went back to the Ikea of Brooklyn to get some of the items I needed right away that were missing and actually saw their delivery team throwing items into the delivery trucks. They will treat the items you purchased like trash because they do not care about their customers. Do not give Ikea your business, there are many better low-furniture stores that actually care about their customers. For example, Bob's Discount Furniture, or Overstock.com. Additionally, there is little to no effective communication between their customer contact center, and the stores themselves. What one customer service agent tells you, basically means nothing, because when it comes down to it the solutions are provided by the Ikea location, and as you have read from my experience, they could care less about actually solving outstanding customer conflicts. read more

when i say the worst service i ever had i mean the worst service i ever had. I order my furniture from these guys i had to wait 4-6 weeks after being told it was only gonna be a few days but a couple days later i get a call saying that sum of the items where outta stock in had 2 be ordered. when i was told everything was ok but someone had giving things to another customer i was furious because i had already got rid of my own things in couldn't get them back so i seat there looking at a empty place wishing i had never got rid of my things but i wanted a new look for my condo. So as the weeks went by coming home to just a mattress in a kitchen set which i moved to the living area just so i could watch a little television when i wanted 2 relax. So after a whole month went by i give them a call to see what was taken so long i get a person saying my things been there for weeks waiting on me to set up a date for delivery.Once again i was furious cause i never received not one phone call are email.I ask to speak to a supervisor in he gave me a next day delivery time in which might i add was doing work hours so i ended up taken the day off.I was told my things would be there between the hours of one in three.I seat there in waited happily cause i was finally getting my brand new furniture.Ok so 1o'clock rolls around then 2 then 3 yet no call are nothing still a no show.So i give them a call tryna see what was the hold up am told they in route in should be there soon.So i ended up falling asleep waiting then gets a knock at the door there it is well after 5 o'clock. They moved my stuff in real fast in was bumping the walls on the staircase almost dropping my things in when i unwrap some of my things there where dents in scraps so i call in tell them am sending it back cause its damaged.I was told the guys are not allowed to load it back on the truck do to other orders that the truck is loaded by orders in they would send someone to pick up in a few days because they have other orders to fill.So i called headquarters in made a compliant in within 24 hours my order was made right.I have no problem with ikea but this store here has no class. read more

What a dump! So we brave the BQE traffic, and the heat, to get to this lovely gem! What can I say! First off, the employees show their displeasure at being badly paid or badly treated as maybe not outright hostility at customers, at least fairly strong disinterest. The line at the food court was horrible. We were on line for 35 minutes. No knives or forks. Dirty cups. No glasses. Paper plates. When we finally got up to the lady who was spooning food unto plates , we had to wait 3 more minutes for gravy, while the poor schmucks behind us with the two screaming kids had to wait 5 more minutes for fries. We managed to find everything, then decided to buy some meatballs for home , because, come on, Swedish meatballs. Only to find that we'd probably end up having to wait another hour on the food court line outside the registers. We asked an employee who told us we could pay at the cashier's and since line was shorter, that's where we went. They have beverage cups above register for 1$. So why not. To find that all the soda fountains are out of order. I mention to one of the managers, to maybe let the cashiers know soda fountains are out. . These two guys in Orange t-shirts. One just turned his back to me, the other just shrugged. So you just don't care, I say , he shrugs again. The cup was dirty too, btw! Gross! I have been to Ikeas all over the US and a few in Europe, and Brooklyn was the absolute worst experience. Horrible management! Whoever is in charge here is asleep at the wheel! Next time going to Jersey . Worth the damn toll than put up with this crap. read more

I just came back from Ikea Brooklyn; I went there to buy a small dresser for my unborn child. While at the "find and pick up" area of the store, I asked an employee called "Eric" -a white male, about 30+ years old, bold, about 5'10''- if someone could help me place the box containing the unassembled dresser on a cart, since I am 31 weeks pregnant and I couldn't lift the box by myself. His reply was "sorry, we are too busy today and there is no one to help you, you will need to come back later or on another day". It was Friday at 1pm and the store was practically empty. I have to say that been a New Yorker, I am, to a certain point, used to rude people and bad customer service, but this Eric from Ikea-Brooklyn just took it to a whole new level. After Eric's incredibly rude reply, I walked away in shock and bumped into another employee called Hisham, I explained to him what I needed and how Eric had treated me. Luckily Hisham immediately offered to help me to place the items that I needed into my cart so that I could spend my money in Ikea. After this incredibly bad experience, I will never set foot in Ikea Brooklyn, I will ever shop at any Ikea location or Ikea online. I work too hard for my money to be treated like that. I still can't believe that this man called Eric at Ikea Brooklyn wouldn't lend a hand to a pregnant woman. Perhaps Ikea should find out where The Container Store trains their employee; that's a store where spending my hard earn money is always a pleasure. Shame on you Eric and shame on Ikea for hiring horrible people like you. read more
Oh god. I accidentally went. My eyes glazed over. I died a little inside, but I have new sheets and some random Swedish wares that I didn't need, so that's a plus. Anyway, you all knew this already. Mainly I am writing this review to express my Horror and Dismay: So I'm waiting in the line with all my dumb hangers and whatnot, and I'm thinking about the economy, (why are we all here, none of us can afford this), thinking suicidal thoughts and looking around at everyone else who is also probably thinking suicidal thoughts, and I had the thought, 'It really couldn't get any worse than this.' WRONG. Know why? On my way out, I was ACCOSTED BY A CLOWN!!!! wtf? What does Katie hate more than anything in the world? Anyone who knows me even a little will tell you it's a. mouth noises b. clowns. He was standing there in all his red-nosed, crazy-eyed, potential serial killer glory, blocking the entrance with his giant scary body. It gets worse, because he actually spoke to me, and I am pretty sure he had been sucking on a helium balloon, as if it wasn't horrifying enough. Thanks for shopping at IKEA? Have a nice day? I hope the security guards caught it on camera when I recoiled in horror and almost dropped my hand towels. This is NOT OKAY. You make me wander through an endless labyrinth of people who, like myself, are trapped in a self-destructive cycle of frantic consumerism - at the end of this nightmare, I need a massage and a shot of bourbon, NOT A CLOWN. I will never, ever go to IKEA again. read more

It's hard to imagine a worse customer service. Moving back to New York, I bought my stuff on ikea website weeks in advance. IKEA took my money right away and guaranteed delivery for a certain date. I get a call from their delivery service the afternoon before the delivery was supposed to take place, and they give me a 4 hour window. I rush to New York and wait all day for delivery, I call a couple of times and the automatic service tells me that my order is out for delivery. So, what to do? Wait, right? At the end of the day I call again and they tell me that they don't have my stuff and never had it. They will call me when they do. I get a call 2 days later at night saying that I will get the delivery the day after at some unspecified time. I get another call in the morning with another 4 hours window for the afternoon. I wait. After a few hours, I call to make sure they are still coming and they say yes, the trucker just left the warehouse. I call 3 hours later and they tell me that no, they don't have my stuff and the trucker is not coming. They will call me when they have my stuff. Again. In all this, do you think IKEA would pick up the phone or send me an email? Not at all. Once IKEA got the money they seem to have disconnected their phone and stopped giving a shit about me. In the meanwhile, I am sleeping on a air mattress and taking time from work to wait for ikea furnitures. Never again. read more

The place doesn't even deserve one star Avoid this place A lot of the items are not available for self pick up Longest line ever like six flags roller coaster ride wait. Waited 30plus for check out which is understandable. But really it was a busy day and I dont think they were under staffed because Ive seen way less staff on weekends at different ikea. But anyways, half of their registers were closed which caused the checkout traffic. Past the checkout, i had items that needed to be picked up in store (i purchased it in store) after payment. They had a number system where when your number is called you pick up your item. Waited an hour and nothing. The "ready collect people" were all waiting for more than an hour. The waiting area was filled with unsatisfied customers. And across was customer service area which also had long line. While waiting decided to have a snack. When to the snack concession and I had to wait 20min to get 3 cones of ice cream. The staff weren't even caring at the slightest about how long customers were waiting. No apologies or explanations, all staff had annoyed look on their faces probably because they had to face so many unsatisfied customers But still i had to wait for the pick up. In total, we wasted 2hrs of wait time. Save yourself some time and go to the one jn Long Island because you're not going to get any service here read more

This is a very interesting way to shop. Not the most ideal way to shop, but actually kind of fun. Depending on what day you go it may be way too crowed, but during the week usually isn't too bad. The customer service is not great, but if you know what you're doing, it's not necessary. I'm very sorry for you if you find that something you purchased is missing a piece and you have to come back to the store and go through the returns and exchange process, it's pretty much the closest you can get to being in Hell on Earth. A lot of the furniture is ideal for college kids and youngsters shopping for their first apartment. The wood they use to make the furniture is cheap particle board, but the hardware i.e. the hinges and handles, are very high quality. You have the option of assembling the furniture yourself, which is so easy that the directions don't even have words, but instead have very easy to follow picture instructions. A child could put together an Ikea table or cabinet. Good luck walking through this store and not buying anything, it's very hard to do as everything is reasonably priced and of pretty good quality. The checkout line is a pretty miserable place to be. Never had their meatballs, but people sure talk about them enough. I'm not really interested in eating meatballs from a furniture store. read more

So the delivery was on time..surprising.....HOWEVER.....I find that one of the shelves that came with my entertainment center was brown instead of black. I look at the receipt and naturally the incompetent staff member printed out the wrong article number for me. My fault for assuming the worker at this IKEA was competent enough to look up a number on the computer....and print out that same number on the paper with no mistake. So I accidentally purchased the wrong colored shelf because of this loser at IKEA Brooklyn. So when you call customer service you call a national call center that says it is IMPOSSIBLE to talk to the individual store. This call center said they are not able to swap out the wrong shelf for the right one because it was a different color and they don't have the capability to do so........ really??..... So 2.5 hours on the phone later a manager finally talks to me and opened up a case where they will contact me within 72 hours for a solution. Might be best to call my credit card and say IKEA sent me the wrong item and won't return it. .... I want this place to go down!!! NEVER GO HERE!!!!! read more

This is connected to my review for JW Logistics, the guys who delivered my IKEA furniture. IKEA should have worked together with these guys to provide better service, but they didn't. They told us they'd be delivering our IKEA furniture from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. They failed to do this and said they attempted to deliver our items earlier but couldn't get a hold of me -- I actually called them back immediately after I missed their call and had been on standby on my phone all morning just waiting for them. When we got hold of them later, they said they could only deliver again from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. I insisted that they make it before 1:00 pm because I wouldn't be home the next day, but then they said the drivers already left the items in the warehouse so all they could do was wait for the 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm schedule. After wasting my time all morning, I had to wait for them to come again at night. To be clear, I already had a window set for 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and they didn't show up and just called me once. Later at night, they arrived at almost 8:00 pm. This was the most horrible service I've ever had. read more

I like going here on a weekday. It's never packed! So much better than going to NJ for an IKEA. The food here is cheap and pretty good, swedish meatballs were really yummy. I really have to start finding better adjectives to describe things.."they were good/yummy/really good/great/really really good" haha I've bought a few items from here, nothing has broken down yet, so I'm going to say their quality is a-ok. I bought a bed frame and a huge tv stand from here. I get compliments on the tv stand all the time...and I only got it for about 300 bucks here?? So my favorite part of Ikea is, there's this one section where they have windows overlooking the ocean! And they have a bedroom display there with a bed and everything. So I like to go there and lay on the bed for a minute and then get up and fake-yawn and stretch a bit and look out the window, pretending like I am a super rich snob living in Manhattan with an ocean view. Yes...I am a loser...but I really don't care. It is free and fun to act out my fantasies here. giggles. read more

I visited this IKEA to purchase a desk yesterday, the first customer service associate I asked for help locating the item told me that he wasn't aware of location and to see another associate. Their was one Person in front of me in that line which took I kid you not 8 minutes for them to complete their interaction. After I patiently waited and got my item ticket to check out , while waiting on the checkout line a customer approached the register from behind the line to request a refund on a item. So after waiting in turn on the check out line I had to wait another 8 minutes for a line cutter to get her refund processed on the check out line no mention of the last cutting the line in front of us. The best part of the trip was the rude and spaced out Furnuture pick up assocaite , he took about 10 minutes to bring our my item , then checked my receipt on 3 separate occasions after walking back in and out of the Storage area.. Waste of tremendous time , associates are less helpful then anything . Horrible in store experience read more
