The store is filled with collectibles: furniture, pottery, lamps, art, '50s dresses. Well-priced ..... considering it IS Manhattan. A particular painting caught my eye. With no more space in my apartment -- the walls are filled! -- I was thinking of a friend. Art is personal. Never a good gift idea. What I love, most people don't. Except my daughter whose artistic taste frequently jives with mine. The proprietor directed me to their website, which showcases items in their warehouse as well as what's in the shop. furnishgreen.com Well, the original oil (from the Democratic Republic of the Congo) isn't what my friend is looking for. After browsing a number of stores in-person and surfing the web, we were beginning to think that everything looked the same. Luckily, we met Maxwell and Leah, two amazing and talented human beings who dedicated hours to helping us find pieces for our new home. Their attention to detail and perspicacious judgment of all things related to interior design organically allowed us to realize what we liked and didn't like, simplifying this once-daunting task of picking furniture. Maxwell was unfailingly communicative and prompt throughout our correspondence, and his expertise in producing high-quality and accurate renderings of our furniture selections on the computer let us visualize everything, which was SO key. I kid you not: it was a little mesmerizing/hypnotizing, watching him deftly switch between different shades and sizes and textures. He's incredibly knowledgeable and fluent in this computer program, and he was always so patient with us, providing us with numerous iterations until we were able to finalize our choices. I can't emphasize enough how the technical aspects of this entire process surpassed our expectations. Moreover, Leah and Maxwell's willingness to sit down and have thorough discussions about honing in on our selections made for such a positive experience. By no means were they ever pushy, as they were always attentive, but they offered their insight when we needed it and guided us in the right direction. What appealed to us about the product selection here was that everything can be customized. You are truly spoilt for choice, but not overwhelmingly so. In the end, you will have creations, not just furniture, tailored to your taste and needs, and what more could you want when you're trying to make a house (or an apartment if you're in New York) a home? Run, don't walk, to this gem of a furniture store; request Maxwell and Leah; and find that furniture shopping can be fun and enlightening.

Some sofas were comfortable and beautiful and some tables and set ups were shocking and comical. No one objects to you trying out the sofas and looking. I especially liked their mirrored glass coffee table. There was a sliding door on the side of the rectangle to allow you display items inside. And I loved their layered bookcase. It looked like someone glued multiple boxes to create a unique bookcase. I would recommend coming in for design ideas. One problem I had with the store was that nothing had a price tag except a couple of decanters ($800). We had no idea how much the sofa or any of the furniture would cost. Also, the staff was scarce. I now had my own office which I also wanted as a guest room. I needed assistance designing the office and finding a queen sofa bed that would fit in the space along with a desk and bookcases. After work one night, I searched on the internet for NYC/Westchester design firms that may be able to assist. I found that most firms wanted $2000 just to create a design for me. I am so glad I discovered Bark. I put my requirements in and found MCollection & Design through Bark. Michelle called me the next day (the MOST pleasant, friendly and responsive person ever!) and she explained that they could help me design the space for $500 and also help in the search for the sofabed, rugs, desks, bookcases etc. I would just purchase the bulk of the items from her firm. This was perfect for me because I have a very demanding job and didn't want to spend hours on my own looking for items and then purchase them and find out that what I bought didn't fit in the space-- thus wasting money. I gave Michelle my budget, my color scheme and sent her some examples of couches and desk styles that I liked. The next day I got emails of sourced items that she thought I would like! Just great response time! I liked many of the items that she found and those which I didn't, Michelle was happy to give me more choices. In addition, MCollection was able to take my floorplan and electronically show me different scenarios for the furniture layouts. The furniture was conveniently sent to my apartment and MCollection also connected me to a handyman who put my desk and bookcases together. He even hung my artwork. (I had had a difficult time finding someone who had a COI which my building requires). Furthermore, during the process, I was also assigned a designer, Shawn (also the most pleasant responsive person), who came to my apartment to check on the progress of the project. They were able to find a queen sized sofa bed that fit beautifully in the space along with the desk and bookcases I wanted. Within approximately 30 days, I had my office set up! I am so glad that Bark led me to MCollection. It saved me hours in searching for a design firm that would fit my needs. I got professionals who helped me design and source my office/guest room just the way I wanted it. The process was very collaborative and fast! Michelle, Shawn and her team at MCollection and Design are pleasant, responsible professionals, eager to assist you in your design needs. I highly recommend them for any design project you have whether big or small!
