The staff was very rude and unprofessional at Calligaris NYC. They tried to intimidate me.

(What am I there for???) I told him... Oh NO he talked to anyone in WHITE LIKE HIMSELF VERY VERY NICE and very very POLITE !!! Nope nope I am not buying anything from him though I like the items very much... I told him off I will never buy anything because he dun wan me to lol!!! It just to make a point of their rude and unprofessional service... and he is going to lose more customer not because I wrote bad thing here in YELP !!! It is a matter of time if he keep carry on his stupid racism attitude Would never come back to this store again. Not recommended at all and will complain to the mother company about his service.

My profile account at Studio Manhattan indicates they have been paid but shows my order is unfulfilled. Their website appears to be up and running so buyer beware. Phone number in this Yelp page isn't working, their web page is void of a phone number, and an email to their customer support bounced back. I will take this review down if I (somehow) get a positive response. Next stop will be BBB and Google reviews.

Pearl River Mart is…read morebasically a curated treasure chest of Asian-inspired trinkets, home goods, and "I didn't know I needed this" objects all in one place. You'll find the classics: chopsticks, ceramics, Lucky Cat statues, loose leaf teas alongside nostalgic snacks, fans, patterned paper, clothes/ qi paos, purses, and other beautifully designed everyday items. Everything is just so well curated, this is one of the best places to find a gift for someone when you don't know what you're looking for. Some of my favorite things to pick up here: Tiger Balm, lanterns, fans, incense sticks, tea sets, slippers. It's also still family owned and has been in operation for 55 years now (since 1971!). They also have a small location in Chelsea market but the SoHo location has a significantly larger footprint.

Nice place just to browse Chinese decors, knick knacks, clothes, snacks and condiments. I bought some nice pens and a beautiful silk scarf. Prices are reasonable. I happen to chance on their little art exhibit at the back. The Red Envelop show for Lunar New Year. Very interesting. Over all, i like this place, feels like it instantly transports me to China with out leaving NYc.

The way in which she followed around my husband and I was absolutely comedic. A spacious and open store with us and one other shopper, and a mere 4 feet of space between the French woman and us. Staring us as we delighted in the first few minutes of discovering items in the store. After about 10 minutes it was still ongoing. She was on our balls the whole time. What a strange and weird woman, I thought. I turned to her, because she was right there anyway, and said "It's not like we're going to steal anything." Mind you, we were dressed nicely, and very respectful of the items, and even purchased something. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted him to have anything he wanted. After I confronted her bizarre behavior, she looked aghast and said she was just there to "help." Please. She was there scrutinizing our every move under the guise of trying to be helpful. She walked away, came back, and told me, "what a weird thing to say." No ma'am. You're the weird one for following us closely with very little space for our entire shopping experience. Like, are you having a bad day or is this just your personality? Anyways, we purchased our item and I smiled and said thank you and she gave me a stink face as I walked away. Funnily enough we were laughing about it later on with another local shop owner and he IMMEDIATELY knew which store and woman we were talking about. His service was exceptional but yeah, this is an ongoing theme at Clic! As soon as I red the other reviews later on I felt SO. VALIDATED. Will be keeping this erratic woman in my thoughts and hopes she is well and finds joy in life and is able to heal from the shackles of racism.

The clays are a great way to see if a scent is worth your skin real estate with information on the brand, notes, perfumer, and price on the back. Despite other complaints against touching bottles, I do understand you don't want to risk dropping a small brand's tester. Plus, as someone who has worked in retail, it would be a full time job to keep them straightened (OCD much) It's a must visit every time I'm in NYC to see what brands are new and discover something new.

I went in aware that you can touch (or spray) the bottles, but I wasn't expecting the only interaction from staff to be to ask everyone who came in if they had been to the store before (a chance for them to tell you the rules, of course). No questions about what you're looking for, no offer of help while you browse, just general monitoring to make sure no one is touching what they should not. I asked perfumes were exclusive to Stele and was told "not sure but most everything"...and saw a ton of lines that are not exclusive. The stones aren't a very good vehicle to capture scents (probably why I've never seen them at any other perfume store) and the layout is by house without any general descriptions or information on the brand. The perfume details and pricing are on the back of the stones. Overall not somewhere to go unless you know exactly what you want.
